<p>Big news for electric car fans! The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/chevrolet">Chevrolet</a> Bolt, GM&#8217;s popular electric car, isn&#8217;t just sticking around &#8211; it&#8217;s getting a cool upgrade. In 2025, GM&#8217;s bringing out a new version, but here&#8217;s the twist: it&#8217;s going to be the bigger Bolt EUV only.</p>

<h3>Chevrolet will focus on the roomier variant of the Bolt, the EUV model</h3>

<p>Remember when we thought the Bolt was done for? Turns out, its sales were through the roof. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/general-motors">GM</a> took notice and scrapped the plan to cancel it. Instead, they&#8217;re focusing on the EUV model, the roomier one that people really seem to like.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Chevrolet Bolt" class="wp-image-588908" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2022-chevrolet-bolt-euv-exterior.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Bolt first hit the streets in 2016, and it made a splash as an affordable <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/electric-vehicles">electric car.</a> Then came the bigger EUV in 2022. But earlier this year, GM said they&#8217;d stop making the smaller Bolt, blaming its old battery tech for not making enough money. But, thanks to a price drop from the new tax credits, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/chevrolet-bolt">Bolt</a> started selling like crazy. So, GM changed its mind.</p>

<p>The new Bolt EUV is set to be even better. It&#8217;ll charge faster &#8211; a big plus for electric car drivers who hate waiting. It&#8217;s also switching to GM&#8217;s Ultium batteries, the same ones they use in their newer electric cars. This means better performance and keeping costs down.</p>

<p>What&#8217;s really cool about the Bolt is how affordable it is. With tax credits and discounts, you could get one for around $20,000. GM plans to keep the new Bolt EUV in that same price range, making it a great deal for an electric car.</p>

<p>So, the Bolt&#8217;s making a comeback with its bigger, better EUV model. GM&#8217;s betting on this one because people love bigger cars these days. If they can keep it affordable, the Bolt EUV might just be the next big thing in electric cars. It&#8217;s a smart move and shows how quickly things can change in the car world. Electric is in, and the Bolt&#8217;s riding that wave all the way to 2025.</p>

Now, it is about to become even easier for users to access following its integration with Huawei’s map service, Petal Maps.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-432182" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-1024x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="696" height="696" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt-420x420.jpg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Bolt.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Huawei customers with smartphones based on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), and customers who download Petal Maps from Google Play, have now an additional option when they search the directions and length of a journey from one location to another. As well as car, public transport, walking and cycling, they will also see ride hailing.</p>
<p>Once a user clicks on the Boult icon, they will automatically be taken to the Bolt app where they can book a driver, check the driver’s details and distance, and see how much the journey will cost.</p>
<p>The two companies have also collaborated at a software developmental level with Bolt integrating Huawei’s Map Kit allowing it to power the app with personalized displays and interactions for HMS devices.</p>
<p>But that&#8217;s not all, Petal Maps has recently been enhanced with new updates, including Lane Guidance which is aimed at helping drivers to enjoy enhanced route planning, and help in complex traffic situations, and Offline Maps, which allows users to take advantage of search and navigation functions, even when they have no signal.</p>
<p>In addition, searching for amenities is easier thanks to its new and improved ‘one-touch’ search functions which show multiple services such as petrol stations, restaurants, ATMs, and convenience stores that are nearby.</p>
<p>So for readers who live in Europe and Africa, do check out these new features offered by the Petal Maps on Huawei&#8217;s AppGallary or Google Play store.</p>

The emerging ride-hailing app in Europe is often considered as a cheaper alternative to Uber especially in cities like London. And with this addition, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> users finally have a popular ride-hailing service on its own app store.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_330400" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-330400" style="width: 1008px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-330400" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM.png?x10805" alt="Bolt on AppGallery" width="1008" height="596" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM.png 1008w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM-300x177.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM-768x454.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM-696x412.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-2020-07-03-at-6.18.28-PM-710x420.png 710w" sizes="(max-width: 1008px) 100vw, 1008px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-330400" class="wp-caption-text">Bolt on AppGallery</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Bolt&#8217;s presence on the Huawei AppGallery is a win-win for both the companies. Despite the US ban, Huawei is still the third-largest smartphone maker in Europe with a solid <a href="https://gs.statcounter.com/vendor-market-share/mobile/europe">18% market share</a>. However, until today, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/appgallery">AppGallery</a> lacked a popular ride-hailing app like Uber. Technically, you could get the missing apps via third-party app stores like <a href="https://apkpure.com/">APKPure</a> and Amazon App Store for Android. But now, Bolt fills this void without the need to download any other app store.</p>

<p>Bolt has been gaining a lot of attention in the past few months. In fact, in June 2020, it was voted as the <a href="https://theeuropas2020.thepathfounder.com/page/1538225/meet-the-2020-winners">Hottest Unicorn in Europe</a>! The startup recently raised €100 million from Naya Capital Management which it will use to expand its ride-hailing, e-scooter, and even food delivery businesses.</p>
<p>Huawei has managed to add a number of important apps to its AppGallery this year. You&#8217;ll find popular apps in multiple categories like Deezer, TIDAL, MX Player, RT, UKTVPlay, Eurosport, Premier League in media and entertainment and Viber, Telegram, TikTok, Tinder, Zoom, Badoo in social. And as of March 2020, Huawei has already integrated over 60,000 apps with HMS Core.</p>
<p>With no signs of<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/29/tsmc-fills-up-huawei-hisilicon-order-gap-through-mediatek-includes-5nm-chips/"> respite from the ban</a>, it makes sense for Huawei to invest heavily in its own products like the AppGallery. In this regard, the company recently launched the HUAWEI HMS App Innovation Contest – with an award pool of USD$1 Million Prize.</p>

The firm presently has more than 30 million users in over 35 countries. Ride-hailing services have definitely taken a hit by the COVID-19 lockdown and social distancing practices. Thus, Bolt has shifted its attention to yet another transportation service &#8211; <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/electric-scooter">electric scooter</a> service.</p>
<p>Bold officially unveiled its own electric scooter model on Wednesday. The company also disclosed that it aims to launch the scooter service in more than 45 cities this summer.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-321415" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters.jpg?x10805" alt="Bolt" width="800" height="425" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-768x408.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-696x370.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-791x420.jpg 791w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>“A lean mindset and efficient operations have helped Bolt to bring quick, affordable and reliable urban transport services to millions of people in Europe and in Africa,” Dmitri Pivovarov, head of scooter business at Bolt, said in a statement.</p>
<p>Bolt said its model’s design and engineering are focused around modularity, which makes it easily repairable and lowers the cost of maintenance for the ride-sharing service.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-321423" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="740" height="493" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3.jpg 740w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/bolt-electric-scooters-3-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px" /></a>The new scooter weighs 17kg, which makes it the lightest model used in scooter sharing. This reduced weight is achieved through the scooter being made of 90% aluminium.</p>
<p>The scooter features inflatable tires that help ensure better grip and smoother, safer rides. It can go for more than 40km on a single charge. Its maximum speed is 25km/h. But this is obviously limited according to local regulations.</p>
<p>The scooter also features front and rear lights, as well as front and side reflectors to help maintain riders’ safety during dark hours. Scooters come with built-in GPS trackers which provides data about where they are parked and whether they are ready for use.</p>
<p>Bolt had earlier last month launched the scooter service in Bratislava, Slovakia. The scooter app is similar to the taxi service app. It costs €0.50 to unlock a scooter and 15 cents per minute they are used up to €15, which would be the price for a whole day.</p>
<p>The app also has information about the maximum range of the scooters, so as to remove the risk of renting one with a discharged battery.</p>
