One UI Home v15.0.05.005 Crashing on One UI 6 Beta

Samsung is leaving no stone unturned by bringing the stable One UI 6 update to most compatible smartphones. Following the update on Galaxy S23, Galaxy A54, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 5 Series, and other smartphones, the One UI 6 Open Beta program is still up for mid-range and low-end smartphones. The users on the beta build of One UI 6 are having some issues with the One UI Home Launcher.

Specifically, the One UI Home v15.05.005 is crashing on the One UI 6 Beta builds. As per the official thread on the Samsung Korea Community, “Users of the first beta version have recently released “One UI Home” If you download and install the app (Launcher 15.0.05.005), you will be unable to touch the home screen and run the app through the quick panel/edge panel.”

However, the officials suggest updating their devices to the official stable version of the One UI, as most smartphones have already received it. However, in the process, the users on the Beta build may need to update multiple times to get the official stable build of One UI 6.0.

One UI 6.0 Update Program and Features

The Samsung Galaxy Smartphones are receiving the One UI 6.0 update bundling several new features. The Korean giant pushed the One UI 6.0 update for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21 in some countries, Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 5, and several other smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Users Reported Camera Stabilization Bug

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the company’s newest flagship model, had recently been released. It has a big 6.8-inch display, an impressive 12GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy processor, making it one of the most powerful smartphones on the market. It’s the brand’s top-tier flagship, thus the user should have a positive overall experience. However, it appears that this gadget has a strange photo stabilisation bug that may be interfering with users’ experiences with their phone cameras.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a really great set of cameras. The reviews also clear out that the brand has deeply worked into the camera algorithms to provide users with impressive results. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) has been improved by a huge margin when compared with its predecessor. The upgraded OIS technology means better and clearer images. However, a new bug has been spotted by some of the Galaxy S23 users which stop the technology to function as it was intended to. Due to the bug, the videos come out shaky as a result of poor stabilization.

New Google Pixel 7, Pixel 6 Bug Causes Auto Rotate, Tap To Wake, and More Features To Stop Working

The Google Pixel series of smartphones appear to have been cursed with never ending bugs in the last several months. With the launch of the Pixel 7 series, it appeared that the mistakes on the Pixel 6 were improved upon. But it seems that there are still some minor bugs that have caused inconveniences for both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 lineup users.

The news regarding the latest bugs comes from Pixel users who shared their grievances on Reddit. A Redditor stated that it “Seems to be when I’m using YouTube mostly but auto rotate doesn’t kick in. Have to manually activate it myself which is frustrating.” Apart from this, other users have also found that by sliding up from the bottom on YouTube would cause the image to automatically flips into landscape. Other Redditor users also joined in with similar complaints.

This bug appears to be affection both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series of smartphones. Similarly, there has been other new issues on these smartphones as well. One Reddit users stated that his Pixel 6’s modem doesn’t start working after he goes through an area without cellular service. He has to manually switch the airplane mode on and off after going into an area with no network, like an underground parking. There have been people also complaining of the Tap to Wake feature not working consistently or sometimes never working at all on the new Pixel models.

All in all, it appears that the major issues have been fixed while new minor bugs have been surfacing on the Pixel branded phones. Although, some of these issues might be related more towards the Android OS than the Google phones itself. In a previous report, we had covered information regarding the iPhone 14 Pro series models facing issues with some basic system applications like iMessage. Now, it appears that the iPhone 14 Pro series users are also facing more issues with a number of other functions as well. This includes problems with the Dynamic Island feature and even the satellite phone functionality. Apart from this, the iPhone 14 Pro also has an issue with its Verizon users, who are reporting very weak 5G signals and other network coverage issues.

Microsoft offers additional 30% bonus on top of $20,000 bug bounty

Microsoft is apparently planning on offering additional incentives to its bug hunt program to expand its reach. The company is willing to pay higher to those that find vulnerabilities within its security.

For those unaware, the American tech giant is running a bug hunt program that rewards participants that find serious security implications within the systems. Microsoft had recently announced the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Bounty Program and the M365 Bounty Program. And now, the brand is planning on offering an additional 30 percent bonus on top of the 20,000 US Dollars that it already offers for finding vulnerabilities.

So, one can now be rewarded with a sizeable sum of 26,000 US Dollars. According to the Microsoft Security Response Center’s (MSRC) announcement, “Through these new scenario based bounties, we encourage researchers to focus their research on vulnerabilities with the greatest potential impact on customer privacy and security.” Notably, vulnerabilities that are not considered high risk may still be eligible for bounties under the general bug bounty program.

The company further added that one may also receive higher rewards based on the severity of the reported vulnerability and the quality of the submission as well. Just a week ago, Microsoft had also announced that it will be adding Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business within the enterprise to its bug bounty program. So now, security researchers can find and report vulnerabilities affecting Exchange and SharePoint servers within the enterprise for a bounty that ranges from 500 to 26,000 US Dollars.

New OnePlus 7 Pro update will fix random shutdown bug

All new smartphones tend to go through a period in which they experience some bugs and kinks that are usually ironed out in future patches. This is why it did not come as a surprise to learn that OnePlus 7 Pro owners were running into issues with the handset, although in this case, this issue seems to be pretty severe.

For those of you who aren’t aware, many OnePlus 7 Pro users have been finding that their devices have been randomly shutting down. There appears to be no rhyme nor reason for the device’s shutdowns, which is pretty peculiar. Following the shutdown, the only way to reboot the phone is by manually rebooting into fastboot.

Latest Mi A1 Update Brings Android 8.1 Oreo, June Security Patch & SMS Bug

If you own the Mi A1, there is a chance you have received a new update. Although Xiaomi only says the update brings June’s security patch, it also updates the device to Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with some serious bugs.

The update which weighs in at about 1.15GB is wiping SMS history for several users. It is reported to happen when you swipe away the messages app in the recent apps menu. It is advised that you back up your messages. The update is also said to cause SafetyNet, a Google security API to know if your device is in a known-good state, to fail.

Apart from these issues, everything else seems fine. The Android 8.1 Oreo update brings features like battery indicator for connected Bluetooth devices, an adaptive SystemUI theme that changes based on your wallpaper (dark wallpapers give black quick settings menu and bright wallpapers give a white quick settings menu), and new emojis to name a few. The update is also said to improve the audio quality of the device.

The Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first Android One device. It has the same specs as the Chinese Mi 5X save for stock Android replacing MIUI. Its successor, the Mi A2 (Mi 6X) should launch soon.
