In late 2025, the global electric vehicle market has shifted in favor of Chinese manufacturers. They now account for 43% of global EV sales, with eight of the top ten best-selling EV models coming from China. These brands are moving faster, integrating vertically, and treating cars as digital products rather than mechanical ones.

BYD

BYD is currently the world’s largest EV maker by volume. It builds its own batteries, motors, and chips, including its signature Blade Battery. This approach has allowed the company to lower costs and reduce reliance on external suppliers. Models like the Seagull continue to undercut global rivals on pricing, while still offering competitive range and features.

In 2025, BYD expanded production into Hungary and Brazil to avoid import tariffs and meet rising demand. The company also pushed into the premium space with its Yangwang sub-brand, which now competes directly with established luxury automakers.

Additionally, the company is all set to launch the Seal 08 and Sealion 08 in Q1 2026, targeting the premium segment with its next-generation Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi entered the EV market with the SU7 sedan and quickly scaled to over 200k units in less than a year. The vehicle runs on HyperOS, which connects seamlessly with Xiaomi’s smartphones and smart home devices. This integration has attracted a younger, tech-savvy audience that values digital experiences.

In mid-2025, Xiaomi launched the YU7 SUV. It introduced a 900V electrical system and a zero-gravity seat design. The company ramped up production to more than 40,000 vehicles per month, a rate most legacy brands have not achieved in their early years.

NIO

NIO is solving one of the most persistent EV challenges: charging time. Its global battery swap network now includes over 4,000 stations. Each swap takes under three minutes and removes the need to plug in.

XPeng has solidified its position as the leader in AI-centric mobility. Chinese EV companies move quickly. Their development cycles average 18 to 24 months. Most Western automakers still take 4 to 6 years to bring new models to market. Chinese firms build much of their own supply chains, while Western brands depend on Tier-1 suppliers. The focus in China is on software, user experience, and in-car AI. In contrast, many global brands still prioritize traditional metrics like paint quality and ride feel.

High tariffs in the US and EU have slowed some exports, but Chinese automakers are adapting. BYD and Geely have set up production hubs overseas. Others are increasing their plug-in hybrid offerings to remain competitive while EV policies remain unclear.

According to the IEA, EVs reduced oil demand by more than 1.3 million barrels per day in 2024, with that displacement increasing by ~30% year-on-year. And no group has contributed more to that surge than Chinese EV makers.

In just a few years, several Chinese brands have leapfrogged long-established Western automakers due to their aggressive innovation cycles and affordability. Take BYD, for example. It has surpassed Tesla in global pure electric vehicle (BEV) sales for much of 2025.

But it’s not just BYD. China has more than a dozen prominent EV brands that are competing fiercely in the global EV market. So if you’re trying to get a sense of which Chinese EV brands actually matter right now, here are the top five you should know.

BYD

Let’s start with BYD, because there’s really no way around it. The company started its business in 1995 as a manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, but is now among the world’s top EV makers that rivals Tesla in sheer volume.

But what makes BYD interesting isn’t the sales figures. Plenty of companies can chase that number. It’s how BYD got to the point where it is now. 

The company builds almost everything in-house, from its now-famous Blade Battery to its own chips and even large parts of its software stack. It’s one of the few automakers that can legitimately claim control over most of its supply chain.

That level of vertical integration allows BYD to produce EVs at prices that often feel almost impossible by Western standards, while still maintaining healthy margins.

Its lineup is also massive, spanning tiny city cars, sleek electric sedans, and premium SUVs. Apart from China, the company is rapidly expanding across Europe, Asia, South America, and even Australia.

Geely

Geely is another Chinese brand that’s making rounds in the EV space. And unlike BYD, it uses a more segmented strategy to sell its cars.

Geely manufactures and sells its vehicles under different sub-brands: Zeekr for premium and tech-focused buyers, Geometry for affordable EVs, and several others that sit in between. This approach lets Geely target almost every pricing tier without confusing buyers about what each badge stands for.

And because Geely owns stakes in Volvo, Polestar, and even parts of Mercedes-Benz’s parent company, it benefits from deep experience in global markets. 

In 2024, Geely achieved a 2.7% market share in the global market, ranking 6th overall, ahead of Volkswagen.

NIO

NIO is one of the more interesting car manufacturers to come from China. It technically sells electric SUVs and sedans, but for NIO, the real selling point is the experience it offers.

For instance,  all NIO cars are designed with battery swapping (Power Swap) technology as a core feature. And if you guessed it, yes, a driver can simply exchange a depleted battery for a fully charged one in minutes. 

As of late 2025, NIO’s battery swap infrastructure boasts over 3,400 stations in China, 59 stations in Europe, and 1 in the UAE. 

NIO cars also come with NOMI, the world’s first in-vehicle AI assistant. NOMI can learn driver habits, engage in natural conversation, and execute multiple commands simultaneously.

And it’s not just EVs; NIO creates “lock-in” through services that go well beyond transportation. It operates NIO Houses, which are essentially luxurious clubhouses for owners, featuring cafés, libraries, meeting rooms, and children’s play areas.

Likewise, NIO Life is a lifestyle brand offering over 1,000 products, from sustainable fashion to home goods, used by over 50% of its customer base. Not to forget, NIO also has a smartphone line with its second model (NIO Phone 2) launched in 2024.

NIO crossed over 30,000 deliveries in a single month for the first time in late 2024. In 2025, it expanded its EV offerings with sub-brands like ONVO (family-friendly SUVs) and Firefly (small city EVs).

XPeng

Like NIO, XPeng is one of the newer players in China’s EV scene, doing business since 2014. Its first product was the G3 SUV in 2018, which was soon followed by the P7 electric sedan in 2019. 

What sets XPeng apart is the company’s fixation on pushing AI deeper into mobility. Alongside its growing lineup of cars, XPeng has been building out an entire tech ecosystem, including what it calls the first AI-integrated operating system for vehicles, the AI Tianji System (XOS 5.1.0).

The company has also rolled out a full suite of AI-driven intelligent driving models — XNet, XPlanner, and XBrain — plus the world’s first 40-core chip designed for AI-defined cars, robots, and even flying vehicles, known as XPeng Turing.

One of XPeng’s recent breakout hits is the Mona M03, an electric sedan packed with smart-driving tech that starts at just $17,000 in China. 

Li Auto 

Li Auto is a bit of an odd one on this list, but in a good way. While most of the others here lean heavily into pure battery EVs, Li Auto is better known for its range-extender EVs. These are essentially electric cars with a small gasoline engine that charges the battery when needed.

Purists might roll their eyes, but buyers love them, especially in areas where charging infrastructure still isn’t great. And the sales numbers speak for themselves.

Li Auto delivered over 500,000 vehicles in 2024, a jump from 376,030 in 2023. But the growth is more significant this year as its cumulative deliveries reached 1.4 million units by September 2025. 

Not everyone is ready to jump fully into EV life, and plenty of places still don’t have the charging infrastructure to make it practical. And Li Auto is targeting that demographic. 

Instead of pushing buyers into something that doesn’t suit their daily needs, it offers a middle ground. Once charging becomes as easy as filling a tank, Li Auto will likely pivot harder into pure EVs, but for now, it’s playing a smart, practical game.

Inside the car is a fully reworked version of BYD’s e⁴ AWD system, upgraded DiSus-X body control, custom aero, and a shell covered in carbon fiber. The oversized wings, vented hood, and huge rear diffuser aren’t just for show—they help keep the car steady as it pushes toward 500 km/h.

Braking comes from titanium alloy calipers paired with a custom carbon-ceramic kit, while the semi-slick GitiSport e·GTR2 PRO tires are rated for a ridiculous 500 km/h, which tells you everything about the performance envelope BYD is aiming for.

At the heart of it all is the new 30C Blade Battery, designed specifically for extreme discharge loads. It uses a dual-layer cooling system and low-resistance cells that can dump massive power in an instant—exactly what you need when each wheel has its own motor.

BYD has overtaken Tesla in global electric vehicle (EV) sales through the first nine months of 2025. The Chinese automaker delivered 1.61 million battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) from January to September, compared to Tesla’s 1.22 million units. This marks a lead of 388,000 vehicles for BYD, based on data released by both companies.

BYD’s sales increased 37% year-on-year, while Tesla’s sales declined by 6%. This is the fourth consecutive quarter where BYD has outsold Tesla in global BEV sales. The data suggests that BYD is likely to finish the year as the top-selling EV brand globally.

Tesla posted a record quarter between July and September with 497,100 global deliveries. However, it still trailed BYD, which shipped 582,500 BEVs in the same period. Tesla’s strong quarter came as U.S. customers rushed to take advantage of federal EV subsidies that expired at the end of September.

Tesla’s performance in China also received a boost with the launch of the Model Y L, a six-seat long-wheelbase SUV. The model reportedly received 120,000 orders shortly after launch. However, Tesla continues to face pressure in Europe and Australia, where competition from local and Chinese brands has intensified.

While Tesla remains a BEV-only manufacturer, BYD continues to sell both BEVs and plug-in hybrids. This strategy has helped BYD maintain high volume despite intense price competition in China. Analysts expect BYD to deliver 2.17 million BEVs by the end of 2025, while Tesla is projected to reach around 1.61 million.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has warned of a “rough few quarters” ahead. The company has shifted focus to autonomous driving and robotics, though these areas have yet to make a significant financial impact.

BYD’s lower average selling price and broad product portfolio have allowed it to capture market share rapidly. The company’s ability to sustain momentum in international markets will likely determine whether it can retain its lead into 2026.

Recently, however, AnTuTu shared a screenshot of the benchmark scores for a device listed as “DiPad150,” offering a glimpse at its hardware details.

Graphics processing is handled by the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU. The tablet is equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, runs on Android 15, and supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

On AnTuTu, the tablet achieved a total score of 983,839, broken down into 187,086 for CPU, 412,939 for GPU, 180,815 for memory, and 202,999 for UX. This performance places it squarely in the mainstream mid-range category.

The Fang Cheng Bao 7 will be the first vehicle to feature the tablet. The SUV will come equipped with BYD’s advanced “God’s Eye” (also known as DiPilot) driver assistance system across all trims, with both lidar-equipped and lidar-free versions available. In terms of range, the long-range all-wheel-drive variant offers up to 180km CLTC range, while the standard two-wheel-drive version delivers up to 135km CLTC. With a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery, the combined range exceeds 1,300km.

The Fang Cheng Bao 7 is set to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, and BYD is expected to officially confirm the tablet’s full specifications in the coming days.

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is making significant inroads into the North American market and could soon berth in Canada. The biggest Chinese EV maker has already entered the Mexican market and there is an official confirmation.

BYD released a press statement jointly with Uber that announced a new partnership between both companies. The partnership offers Uber drivers discounted pricing and special financing options on BYD EVs.

The goal of the new partnership is to deliver 100,000 BYD EVs into the Uber network. This will be a remarkable milestone for BYD as it continues to grapple with claims from the US and Europe that its products are excessively subsidized by Beijing. EV makers in the US and Europe therefore feel threatened by the most affordable offerings by Chinese EV makers as a whole, of which BYD is the leader.

Chinese companies offer some of the most affordable, advanced, and long-range EVs. BYD already has a global presence in the Middle East and Oceania. It currently does not retail passenger vehicles in Canada. Rather it sells buses in Canada, as in the US.

Currently, the stringent 100% tariff regime for Chinese EVs makes the US market impossible to enter at this time. However, it already sells its cars in Mexico and Canada is on the verge of being included. It is also possible to have some inroads into the US market via Mexico or Canada, as there are no tariffs on vehicles imported to the US from those countries. There are however regulations in place that will prevent BYD from just dumping its vehicles in Canada with the possibility of entering the US market. The US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement stipulates that at least 75% of the value of such vehicles must come from parts and materials sourced from either of the three countries.

It remains to be seen how the US government directly or indirectly reacts to BYD’s entry into the passenger EV market in Canada.

Sure, planning and route optimization can work for longer trips, but that approach may soon be obsolete. Chinese battery giants BYD and CATL are on the cusp of launching ultra-fast-charging lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries that, in theory, could be fully recharged in just 10 minutes.

Upgrading the charging infrastructure is crucial in the long run

Battery technology is undergoing a rapid evolution. Recent years have seen significant improvements in both range and charging speed for EVs. BYD and CATL’s upcoming batteries are the latest example, aiming to revolutionize charging times. These companies are reportedly set to debut their ultra-fast-charging LFP batteries by the end of this year, potentially eliminating the need for lengthy charging stops during road trips.

The key to these rapid charge times lies in the 6C charging rate boasted by both the BYD Blade 2.0 and CATL Qilin 2.0 battery packs. In simpler terms, the “6” signifies that the charging multiplier is six times the battery capacity. For instance, a 100-amp-hour battery could be charged with a massive 600-amp current.

However, there are hurdles to overcome. Upgrading the charging infrastructure is crucial to support these speeds. Without an update to the charging network, owners of these advanced batteries won’t be able to fully benefit from their technology and will be limited by slower charging options. It’s also important to remember that batteries can’t maintain peak charging speeds throughout the entire charging cycle. Expect some strategic marketing around these new batteries, with a focus on specific charging windows, like 10% to 80% in 10 minutes. The 2024 Zeekr 001 with its 5C-rated battery is a prime example, achieving an 11.5-minute charge time for this range.

Specific details about the upcoming 6C batteries from BYD and CATL are still undisclosed. However, reports suggest that existing DC fast chargers designed for 4C-rated batteries (four times the charging speed compared to the capacity) can deliver up to 480 kW of power and a maximum current of 615 amps. Achieving even faster charging would necessitate an increase in either voltage or amperage (or both). While technically feasible, equipping thousands of DC fast chargers with such high-rated utility connections would require significant financial investment.

Progress is underway, though gradual. China has seen the deployment of the first 600 kW fast chargers from Huawei earlier this year. Additionally, Li Auto, the manufacturer behind the Mega minivan capable of gaining 310 miles of range in a 10-minute charge, has plans to install 5,000 5C-capable fast chargers by next year.

In comparison, Tesla‘s Supercharger network, the dominant DC fast charging network in the US, offers up to 250 kW of power from its V3 stalls. While respectable, there’s room for improvement, as evidenced by other US providers. Electrify America offers stalls delivering up to 350 kW, and Gravity Charging’s hub in New York boasts an impressive 500 kW per connected EV.

The future of EV charging appears to be speeding towards faster and faster charging times. While infrastructure upgrades and technical hurdles remain, the advancements by BYD, CATL, and other players in the battery technology space are paving the way for a more convenient and time-efficient electric vehicle ownership experience.

The BYD Shark comes in two versions: GL and GS. While specific differences between the models weren’t revealed at the event, BYD has announced pricing for each:

• GL Version: 899,980 Mexican pesos (approximately 386,245 yuan or $58,000 USD)

BYD Dynasty has debuted its new mid-level sedan, the Qin L DM-i at the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show. The new model gets a design refresh in both the interior and exterior. It is equipped with the fifth generation DM-i hybrid and is positioned higher than the Qin PLUS DM-i currently on sale. The BYD Qin L DM-i is currently available for blind orders and will be launched on May 29. The expected price range is 120,000-150,000 yuan (~$16,609 – $20,762).

BYD Qin L DM-i to offer major breakthroughs in terms of fuel consumption and battery life

The new model will be available in five variants – 120KM Excellence, 120KM Beyond, 120KM Leading, 80KM Beyond, and 80KM Leading. In addition, the new model will come in four different color options on the exterior – Run Yu White, Jianyao Purple, Ice Amber Green, and Citrine Gray. The interior will have two different color options – Haoyue Rice and Xuanwu Gray.

Previously the Qin L was expected to bring major breakthroughs in terms of fuel consumption and battery life. According to reports, Qin L is built based on BYD‘s new generation plug-in hybrid vehicle platform and is specially designed for plug-in hybrid vehicles. This fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system consumes as low as 2.9L fuel per 100 kilometers. The battery life is also expected to reach 2000 kilometers.

The new car will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. The engine displacement is 1498ml, the maximum power is 74kW, and it is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate blade battery.

According to reports, the length, width, and height of the car are 4830mm/1900mm/1495mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2790mm.

Speaking of the interior, the integrated center console slowly unfolds with the rotating large screen as the center. The seats are reportedly wide and comfortable. It is equipped with a DiLink smart cockpit, 15.6-inch adaptive rotating screen, NFC digital key, and on-board ETC. An intelligent driving assistant system offers adaptive cruise control, emergency lane-keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring, among other functionalities.

BYD has announced the recall of thousands of the BYD Seagull electric vehicles in China. A total of 16,666 units of the Seagull EV are affected by the recall. The recall is due to a software bug that prevents reverse image display. This is the first time that BYD is initiating a recall of its product in several years. The BYD Seagull is the least expensive EV under the BYD lineup. It is also one of the highest-selling BYD EVs.

This is BYD’s first-ever EV recall yet

The affected BYD Seagull EVs were manufactured between April 7, 2023, and May 31, 2023. The recall starts on May 20, 2024, as announced by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR). The software issue is related to the camera driver in the multimedia display assembly of some of the Seagull EV units. Drivers may experience situations where the reverse screen will not be displayed. This could significantly affect the driver’s field of vision and increase the risk of collisions during such reverse operations.

The software upgrade will result in the resolution of the reverse image display issue. The upgrade is free and will be over the air (OTA) for the affected vehicles. Additionally, BYD will contact users of vehicles that cannot implement the recall via OTA and also implement the upgrade at no extra cost. The upgrade, BYD says, will eliminate potential safety hazards that could result from a dysfunctional reverse camera system.

The BYD Seagull is known as the Dolphin Mini in some markets outside China. It went on sale on April 26, 2023, with a price tag slightly above $10,000 (73,800 yuan). The Seagull Glory Edition was launched in March 2024 with a launch price of 69,800 yuan ($9,640). BYD sold more than 280,000 units of the Seagull in 2023 and this accounted for 9% of BYD’s annual sales.

This brings their total NEV sales for 2024 to 939,508 units, reflecting a healthy year-on-year growth of 23.24%. BYD’s overseas NEV sales were also robust in April, reaching 41,011 units.

The company’s battery production continues to ramp up as well. Their total installed capacity for new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries reached approximately 12.559GWh in April, contributing to a total capacity of 42.295GWh for 2024 so far.

Looking at other major car companies, Geely Automobile also saw positive results in April, selling 153,267 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 39%. SAIC Group sold a strong 285,000 NEVs from January to April, representing a year-on-year increase of over 35%. GAC Aion achieved global sales of 28,113 units in April.

Emerging Chinese automakers continued to make their mark with notable sales figures. Hongmeng Zhixing maintained its top spot among new Chinese forces by delivering 29,632 vehicles in April. Leapmotor demonstrated impressive growth with 15,005 delivered vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 72%. Li Auto delivered 25,787 vehicles in April, with a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. Their year-to-date delivery volume reached 106,187 vehicles. Ji Krypton experienced significant growth, delivering 16,089 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of 99% and a month-on-month increase of 24%. Their delivery volume from January to April reflected a 111% year-on-year growth. Xpeng Motors also delivered 9,393 vehicles, representing a year-on-year increase of 33%.

Established automakers with a presence in the NEV market had positive results as well. SAIC-GM delivered 8,762 NEVs in April, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 93.1%.

New entrants like Xiaomi saw promising initial sales. The Xiaomi SU7, launched on April 3rd, delivered 7,058 units since its debut, with a cumulative number of locked orders reaching 88,063 units.

Lantu Auto maintained steady growth, delivering 4,003 vehicles in April, demonstrating a year-on-year increase of 20%. Their year-to-date delivery volume reached 20,348 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 20%.

Leading global EV manufacturer, BYD has launched the new e2 Glory Edition electric hatchback. The new EV comes with a cheaper price tag than its predecessor and it is now available for pre-order in China. A second luxury option of the new model features various upgrades and is about $1,000 more expensive than the standard model.

Features

The BYD e2 Glory Edition is powered by a 70kW motor with a CLTC range of 405km. Its release is part of BYD’s strategy to improve EV prevalence with a growing list of less-expensive models on offer. The original BYD e2 EVs were released last year and are much more expensive than its current iteration.

The e2 Glory Edition EV is based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and its maximum torque is 180Nm. It has a 43.2Wh battery and utilizes Vehicle to Load (VtoL) technology that allows the driver to use the onboard battery to power an external device with up to 3.3kW output. The EV also features a smartphone NFC key, a rotating infotainment screen, and a reversing camera system. The infotainment screen is 10.1 inches wide in the standard model and 12.8 inches wide in the Luxury version.

Pricing

The e2 Glory Edition is part of the BYD Ocean series with the first e2 models debuting in 2019. BYD has similarly launched the Seagull Glory Edition in the US with increasing calls for greater tariff restrictions on BYD and other Chinese manufacturers. The BYD e2 Glory Edition has a starting price of 89,800 yuan ($12,500) for the standard model and 96,800 yuan ($13,500) for the Luxury version. The 2023 version of the BYD e2 was priced at 102,800 yuan ($14,300) and 109,800 yuan ($15,300).

To revive the dwindling sales figures in China’s electric vehicle (EV) sector, leading manufacturers BYD and Xpeng have ignited a fierce price war. February saw both companies grappling with substantial sales slumps, with BYD’s sales plummeting nearly 40% month-on-month and Xpeng experiencing a decline of almost 45%.

BYD, headquartered in Shenzhen and backed by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, took an aggressive stance by slashing the price of its refreshed Yuan Plus SUV to 119,800 yuan, marking an 11.8% reduction compared to its predecessor. This move follows a series of price cuts implemented by BYD over the past weeks, indicating a determined effort to stimulate sales amidst a challenging market landscape.

Meanwhile, Xpeng, based in Guangzhou, extended its 20,000-yuan discount on its popular G6 SUV until the month’s end. The entry-level G6, now priced at 189,900 yuan, witnessed a significant reduction from its earlier tag of 209,900 yuan. This extension comes in response to persisting low deliveries and aims to entice hesitant buyers into the market.

Observers and industry analysts foresee an escalation in the ongoing price war, with more manufacturers likely to join in to safeguard their market shares. In response to its significant sales slump in February, BYD initiated a wave of price reductions across its Dolphin, Han, Tang, Song, and Seal series to maintain competitiveness. The most notable reduction was in the revamped Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid, priced 20% below its previous iteration at 79,800 yuan.

The repercussions of BYD’s pricing strategy reverberated across the industry, with three other carmakers, including a General Motors joint venture, following suit by pricing their bestselling battery-powered cars below the 100,000-yuan threshold, thus intensifying the price war.

Xpeng also felt the sting of declining deliveries in February, experiencing a 44.9% drop month-on-month to 4,545 units, the lowest since March 2021. In response to the market dynamics, Tesla, a dominant player in China’s premium EV segment, announced a subsidy of 8,000 yuan for buyers purchasing car insurance from its partners, valid until the end of March.

Moreover, other manufacturers, such as Hangzhou-based Leapmotor, adjusted pricing for their vehicles lower than initially planned. Leapmotor’s new SUV C10 now starts at 128,800 yuan, reflecting a 17.3% reduction from its presale price in January.

Industry experts predict that most carmakers will resort to offering discounts and engaging in price wars to retain market share in 2024. Despite the slowdown in EV sales growth forecasted by Fitch Ratings, government stimulus measures and favorable policies from manufacturers like Tesla are expected to fuel rapid growth in the car trade-in sector in the coming months.

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD experienced a dip in February sales compared to the same period last year but remains on track for a strong year with over 320,000 units sold so far in 2024.

According to a recent announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, BYD sold 122,311 new energy vehicles (NEV) in February, down from 193,655 units in February 2023. This decrease can be partially attributed to the timing of the Lunar New Year holiday, which can impact consumer spending patterns in China.

Steady Market Performance and International Expansion

Despite the February dip, BYD’s year-to-date sales remain impressive at 323,804 units, showcasing the company’s continued dominance in the Chinese new energy vehicle market. The Song Plus SUV emerged as the company’s best-selling model in February, moving 20,173 units. This highlights BYD’s strong foothold in the popular SUV segment. The Yangwang U8, a high-end off-road offering, also saw decent sales of 780 units, indicating potential in the premium SUV market.

Other BYD models, including those from the Dynasty and Ocean Networks, maintained consistent sales throughout February. The Qin, Han, Tang, and Yuan families, along with the Seagull and Dolphin models from the Ocean Network, all contributed to BYD’s overall sales figures.

BYD’s international presence is also flourishing. The company exported a total of 23,291 new energy passenger cars in February, demonstrating the global appeal of its electric vehicles and the success of its internationalization strategy.

Looking ahead, BYD‘s sales are expected to continue growing as the company introduces new models and further strengthens its brand recognition in both domestic and international markets.

In a recent announcement at its Dream Day event in Shenzhen, BYD also unveiled plans to invest $14 billion in smart cars.
