<p>The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-2a">Nothing Phone (2a)</a> launched last week and wasted no time making a dent in the smartphone market. On its first day of sales (March 12th), CEO <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/carl-pei">Carl Pei</a> revealed the company sold a whopping 100,000 units, with a staggering <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/03/12/nothing-phone-2a-on-sale-in-india-60000-units-sold/">60,000 moving in the first hour </a>alone.</p>

<h3>The device sold 60,000 units within the first hour of its launch</h3>

<p>This mid-range phone positions itself as a more affordable alternative to the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-2">Phone (2)</a>, but it doesn&#8217;t skimp on features. It borrows some key specs from its pricier sibling, including a large 6.7-inch <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED</a> display and a dual 50MP rear camera system. The phone also retains the signature Glyph design on the back.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="963" height="628" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update" class="wp-image-610778" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update.jpg 963w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update-300x196.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update-768x501.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update-696x454.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Nothing-Phone-2a-Software-Update-644x420.jpg 644w" sizes="(max-width: 963px) 100vw, 963px" /></figure></div>

<p>One interesting detail is Nothing&#8217;s custom-made <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity">Dimensity</a> 7200 Pro processor. While the company claims it offers 10% more efficiency, real-world performance is likely similar to the standard Dimensity 7200 or 7200 Ultra – all three use the same 4nm manufacturing process.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s dive into the specs:</p>

<ul><li>Display: 6.7-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,300 nits peak brightness, HDR10 support</li><li>Cameras: Dual rear camera system (50MP main with OIS + 50MP ultra-wide-angle), 32MP front-facing camera</li><li>Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro</li><li>RAM: Up to 12GB</li><li>Storage: Up to 256GB</li><li>Battery: 5,000mAh with 45W fast charging</li><li>Software: Nothing OS 2.5 based on <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-14">Android 14 </a>(guaranteed 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches)</li><li>Colors: Black and White</li></ul>

<p>The device is available for €329 in Continental Europe, £319 in the UK, and ₹23,999 in India. For US residents, a developer program currently offers the phone at $349, with broader availability promised soon. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nothing </a>just unveiled its highly anticipated smartphone, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Phone (2)</a>, for the global market. The device arrives as the successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Phone (1)</a> and is the second handset from the brand. The company has built smartphones with a unique identity in the market, but it appears that they do not have any plans to make a device that folds.</p>

<h4>Nothing isn&#8217;t planning on launching a foldable phone</h4>

<p>Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, sat for an interview with <em><a href="https://twitter.com/IndiaToday/status/1677588299479654401" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">India Today</a></em> where he answered a couple of interesting questions. The executive officially confirmed that the brand has no plans on releasing a foldable smartphone. He believes that this segment of smartphones is still niche and only targets a very specific group of consumers. Furthermore, Pei stated that he isn&#8217;t too fascinated with such devices and feels like they are forced onto consumers who don&#8217;t really require such a smartphone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="720" height="540" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original.webp?x44794" alt="Nothing" class="wp-image-550652" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original.webp 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original-300x225.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original-696x522.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original-560x420.webp 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original-80x60.webp 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/84b8eaea7547d934c93e5a05a7e3b3581657274265_original-265x198.webp 265w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></figure></div>

<p>The CEO went as far as to claim that most foldable smartphones seem practically identical to him. He further added that the similarities are quite evident once you remove the logo and customers would not be able to differentiate between foldable offerings from different brands. As of right now, major smartphone makers like Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola, and have already launched such devices.</p>

<p>Interestingly enough, even OnePlus is rumored to soon launch its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/06/oneplus-fold-actual-name/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">first-ever foldable smartphone</a> in the market as well. Carl Pei calling foldable devices niche is also quite ironic considering many look at the Glyph interface as gimmicky as well. </p>

Recently, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/08/22/nothing-phone-1-android-13-update-while-away/">report</a> revealed that Phone (1) will get the Android 13 update in the first half of 2023.</p>
<p>Now, founder Carl Pei has confirmed that Nothing will actually take its sweet time delivering the big update. He further revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-1/">Nothing Phone (1)</a> Android 13 beta isn’t coming any soon either. The beta version is scheduled to release “by the end of this year”. Pei says that Nothing does not plan to rush on updates at the cost of user experience.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Since launching Phone (1) last month, we have been closely monitoring feedback and have already released 3 system updates with continuous improvements on camera quality, battery life, as well as new features.</p>
<p>&mdash; Carl Pei (@getpeid) <a href="https://twitter.com/getpeid/status/1562349388638347264?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 24, 2022</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>He also stated that the company has already released three updates for the Phone (1) within a month of launch to improve user experience and fix the camera, battery life, and other issues based on the existing users’ feedback.</p>
<p>Replying to a user, Pei further claimed that Nothing is &#8220;looking to create some fun and interesting software experiences.&#8221; We expect the company is planning to do something interesting with the glyph interface (the LED lights) on the back.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-470314" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215.png?x44794" alt="Nothing Phone (1)" width="1920" height="1079" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-1024x575.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-1536x863.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-696x391.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-1068x600.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2022-07-12-211215-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>To recall, Nothing promised that Phone (1) will receive three major Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches. The Android 13 update will be the first major update the phone will receive. It will also get the taste of Android 14 and 15 before the company removes it from the support list.</p>
<p>In related news, Nothing recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/08/18/nothing-phone-1-price-tag-hiked-in-india/">increased</a> the prices of the Nothing Phone (1) in India by Rs. 1000. As per the company, the main reason behind the price hike is the rising input costs and fluctuations in currency exchange rates. Now, the Nothing Phone (1) has a price tag of Rs. 33,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB storage model.</p>

<p>Nothing Launcher is currently available on Play Store and you can <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=NOTHING+TECHNOLOGY+LIMITED" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">install</a> it to experience the awaited dot-matrix User Interface. However, only select devices can install the launcher and use it. It appears that the brand is keeping up to its premium experience promise as all of these devices are flagships.</p>

<p>If you are a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> owner, do not worry, as the brand has also confirmed support for OnePlus models in the future. Also, some users tried Installing the launcher on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-10-pro/">OnePlus 10 Pro</a> and surprisingly it&#8217;s working.</p>
<p>The Nothing Launcher is currently in the beta stage and offers only the basic features. Right when you install and set it up, you&#8217;ll see the Nothing Wallpaper that we saw in the event last month.</p>
<p>In addition to this, the font gets changed to the dot matrix-style font. There are currently two widgets in the launcher that appear to be automatically set on the home screen. There&#8217;s the weather widget and the clock widget. The launcher also brings elegant-looking app folders.</p>
<p>Apart from this, there&#8217;s not much to look at in the launcher, at the moment. Since it is currently in the first beta stage, we expect more features to be added in the forthcoming beta versions.</p>

The brand has only released a product, the Nothing Ear (1), a sleek pair of earbuds utilizing a transparent design.  The earbuds have been a hot-selling product with the company boasting over 180,000 units of the earbuds in sales. A recent Counterpoint report also showed that the brand entered the top three ranking in India&#8217;s premium TWS segment in Q3 2021 with a 7 percent market share.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-402359" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing ear (1)" width="892" height="493" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price.jpg 892w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price-300x166.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price-768x424.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price-696x385.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Nothing-ear-1-price-760x420.jpg 760w" sizes="(max-width: 892px) 100vw, 892px" /></a></p>
<p>Nothing is planning to consolidate on this success with a couple of new products. Nothing India&#8217;s Vice President and General Manager, Manu Sharma has elaborated on the brand&#8217;s product plans going forward. The Indian head disclosed this in an exclusive interview with India Today.</p>
<p>He disclosed that the brand is working at an increased pace to release over five new products. He also stated that the company is looking to launch iconic products and the product development is at an increased pace.</p>
<p>Manu Sharma did not reveal a definite timeline for the product launch but we don&#8217;t expect all to be released in one fell swoop. The brand may likely launch one of the products before the year runs out while the others may be launched in 2022.</p>
<p>We also don&#8217;t have an idea of what the product mix will look like but since the Ear (1) was a hit, we expect another premium earbud at some point. Nothing may also launch a cheaper earbud in other to grab more market share. Earlier on, there were rumors of a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/15/nothing-to-allegedly-launch-phone-in-early-2022-power-bank-in-the-works/">Nothing smartphone and Power (1) power bank</a> being in the works. We expect those to launch next year.</p>

<p>If you happen to be living under a rock, Nothing was launched by Carl Pei, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/OnePlus">OnePlus</a> co-founder after parting ways with the company last year. The startup recently introduced its ear (1) wireless earbuds that not only offer a lot more for their price than you&#8217;d expect, but also sport a stunning design, the likes of which haven&#8217;t been tried by any company yet.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_418241" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-418241" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-418241 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-1024x680.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5" width="696" height="462" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-1068x709.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5-632x420.jpg 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-5.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-418241" class="wp-caption-text">Image: Gian Luigi Singh, Yanko Design</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Transparency seems to be the main philosophy behind those earphones with their transparent case and transparent buds. In a world of cutthroat competition, a new brand would have to offer something unique if it wants to pull people&#8217;s attention, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/17/carl-pei-confirms-nothings-acquisition-of-essential-inc-reaches-18-million-in-registered-interest-from-the-public-in-24-hours/">Carl Pei</a> managed to do just that with the Nothing ear (1).</p>
<p>But of course, a brand must also strive to maintain consistency across its product lineup in order to keep its portfolio easily recognizable. Designer Gian Luigi Singh knows of this and has based his renders on the fact that Nothing&#8217;s next product, whatever it may be, will be following a design language that will not be unlike its earbuds (via: <a href="https://www.yankodesign.com/2021/10/06/nothing-smartwatch-design-with-transparent-sides-of-the-dial-has-nothing-to-hide/">Yanko Design</a>).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-418242" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-1024x680.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7" width="696" height="462" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-1068x709.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7-632x420.jpg 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-7.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p class="post-without-image">The renders thus reveal a smartwatch with crystal clear sides that display the raw beauty of the precise engineering that makes a wearable tick. This will be reminiscent of some of the high-end analog watches with transparent underbellies that demonstrate the mesmerizing, precise yet complex clockwork it takes for the simple functionality of displaying the time.</p>
<p>But of course, a stunning design isn&#8217;t all that takes for a product to be successful, which is why the Nothing wrist (1) smartwatch will come with all of the newfangled health and fitness tech including a heart rate monitor and step counter, to keep up with the competition.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-418243" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-1024x680.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1" width="696" height="462" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-1068x709.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1-632x420.jpg 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p class="post-without-image">Moreover, like any other premium wearable piece of gizmo, the Nothing smartwatch will be protected against the elements by a water-resistant rating. Gian has slapped an IPx4 label at the watch&#8217;s bottom so there&#8217;s that.</p>
<p>The watch will be powered by Google&#8217;s Wear OS which should provide its owner all that they need to operate it and keep it connected with their smartphone. Speaking of connectivity, the wrist (1) will offer seamless connection and interoperability with Nothing&#8217;s present portfolio &#8211; that includes solely the Nothing ear (1). Thus, the watch will be able to pair with the earphones effortlessly and will allow one to keep tabs on the latter&#8217;s battery and adjust its volume levels.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_418244" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-418244" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-418244" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-1024x680.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00" width="696" height="462" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-1068x709.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00-632x420.jpg 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Nothing-Wrist-1-smartwatch_wearable_gadgets_00.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-418244" class="wp-caption-text">A custom Wear OS interface to match the Nothing design language</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>In conclusion, the concept isn&#8217;t something far-fetched and we wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if Carl Pei himself comes across it and gains the inspiration required to launch something similar. If that actually happens, one can safely say that the renders will be to Carl Pei exactly what an apple was to Isaac Newton.</p>

<p>In a recent tweet from Carl Pei, CEO and Founder of Nothing, the official revealed that the Nothing Ear (1) earbuds had been sold out in India. Although, this only included around 4.8K units of the new wireless earphones. Carl Pei also thanked the community in India for its support and added that it is working &#8220;<span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">around the clock to make more</span>.&#8221; In other words, despite the limited stock being sold out in the region, the firm is working on bringing in more units since the earbuds has been quite successful in the region.</p>
<p>For those unaware, the Ear (1) is the first product ever from the company and sports a unique transparent design that sets it apart from various other TWS earbuds in the market. The earbuds each weigh 4.7 grams and feature 11.6mm drivers from Teenage Engineering. It also offers IPX4 rating for water resistance. The earbuds also sport in-ear detection and allows users to adjust active noise cancellation, activate transparency mode, and change the equalizer settings through the companion app.</p>

<p>The earbuds retailed in India for a price of 5,999 INR (roughly 80 US Dollars). This made it quite competitive in the region as it offers specifications that rival earbuds that cost twice or even three times more.</p>

As <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/04/nothing-has-an-important-announcement-next-week-and-it-might-be-its-first-product-launch/">teased</a> before, in an interview with Bloomberg, he <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-09/alphabet-s-vc-arm-backs-oneplus-co-founder-s-nothing-company">says</a> that the company will start its portfolio with Wireless Earbuds.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-367967" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png?x44794" alt="Nothing fetaured" width="960" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-300x156.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-768x400.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-696x363.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-806x420.png 806w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Carl Pei, the founder of &#8216;<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing">Nothing</a>&#8216;, plans to make not just audio products but create an ecosystem where devices can talk to each other. Precisely, it is already working on Smart, Connected consumer electronics. However, the company will begin with Simpler products i.,e a Wireless Earbuds.</p>
<p>Speaking of which, the earbuds are coming this summer but we don&#8217;t have a specific date yet. This announcement comes along with details about investment from venture capitalists. Carl Pei said that GV(Formerly: Google Ventures) has invested $15 million in the London-based Consumer Technology company.</p>
<p>In case you don&#8217;t know, GV is a Captial Investment arm of Alphabet Inc. Apart from GV, Nothing has attracted investments from biggies like Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit co-founder &amp; CEO Steve Huffman, iPod inventor Tony Fadell, and YouTuber Casey Neistat.</p>
<p>Wireless earbuds have stormed the consumer electronics market in 2020. In fact, they, along with wristwear, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/14/tws-dominate-wearable-shipments-2020-smartwatches-in-2021-report/">led the entire wearable segment</a>&#8216;s shipments with a whopping 93% of the total share. The list includes giants like <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>, and even <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme">realme</a> making it inside the top-10.</p>
<p>Hence, it would be a bang of a start for Carl Pei to compete with companies( including his ex-company <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a>) in a segment that&#8217;s already blooming entering into 2021. That said, we will have to wait and see if the company manages to pull the audience towards it with its first product.</p>
