The update mentions that several software improvements were installed to help the phone’s photography performance. The main rear camera now has better capture quality, better color accuracy, and software stabilization for photos taken from the back. On the front-facing sensor, the update enhanced the realisticness of the photo and the clarity of the subject in frame as well.

As for system-wide performance, the update brings a smoother, more stable, and more consistent software experience. It also helped to solve a battery bug whereby the battery drain of the device was unimaginably fast. For gaming, the new update helped solved a bug whereby Floating Window was making an annoying sound when gamers were gaming with the Floating Window feature on.

Last, there is a new feature added called Global Translation in the Floating Windows bar, which works similar to Google Lens in the global markets. Global Translation is a feature that allows the user to translate the content on the screen to their familiar language, via a quick tap through the Floating Windows ball found on ColorOS devices.

Talking about the OnePlus 10 Pro, it sports a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen with QHD+(3216 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired and 50W wireless SuperVOOC fast charging technology. On the rear, it features a triple camera system with a 48MP Sony IMX789 main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, and an 8MP telephoto lens, while the front has a 32MP selfie shooter.

From the poster shared, the OnePlus 10 Pro seems to feature a dual-curved screen with very narrow bezels on both sides, as well as the chin and the top. Compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro, it seems that the curves on the OnePlus 10 Pro seem to be more muted in the poster and the screen-to-body ratio on the 10 Pro seems to be larger than the 9 Pro. The hole-punch stills remain in the top left corner, same as last year as well.

Today, upon looking at the same announcement for the Chinese market, we found that the device will ship with ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12.

This means the OnePlus 10 Pro will be the debut phone for ColorOS 12.1. Hence, the company has started teasing the new features of the latest version of OPPO’s mobile software.

A few hours ago, we reported on a new gaming feature called HyperBoost, which was revealed by OnePlus earlier today. Going by the posts by the official Weibo account of ColorOS, this feature will be mostly part of ColorOS 12.1 and not limited to the OnePlus’ new flagship.

This means other devices running the upcoming version of ColorOS could also have this feature. We think that it might be limited to certain high-end models as it is all about high graphics gaming with better thermal performance.

That said, we expect to learn more about ColorOS 12.1 as we are still days away from the launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro.
