Today, the company has confirmed through its official forums site that it will be releasing the Android 9 Pie update in June for its smartphones.</p>
<p>In April, the company will be releasing the April 2019 Android security patch for three smartphone such as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-realme-1">Realme 1</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-realme-u1">Realme U1</a> and Realme 3. In May, the May 2019 Android security patch will be rolled out for phones like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-realme-2">Realme 2</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-realme-2-pro">Realme 2 Pro</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-realme-c1">Realme C1</a>.</p>
<p>In June, Realme will be releasing the ColorOS 6 based Android 9 Pie OS for multiple smartphones for Realme 1, Realme 2, Realme C1, Realme 2 Pro and Realme U1. It hasn’t exactly mentioned the order of releasing Pie update for these phones. Also, there is no exact timeline mentioned, but the company promises to release the updates as stated in the <a href="https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1112993400690311168">forums thread</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/04/realme-android-9-pie-coloros-6-0-update-will-be-released-in-june/realme-android-9-pie-coloros-6-0-release-schedule/" rel="attachment wp-att-244860"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-244860" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule.png?x44794" alt="Realme Android 9 Pie ColorOS 6.0 Release Schedule" width="927" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule.png 927w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule-300x181.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule-768x464.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule-696x420.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Realme-Android-9-Pie-ColorOS-6.0-Release-Schedule-695x420.png 695w" sizes="(max-width: 927px) 100vw, 927px" /></a></p>
<p>Since it is a staged rollout, the aforementioned Realme phones are unlikely to receive the update on the very first day or simultaneously. The company will be releasing the update when it is completely sure they are free from major bugs. It will be posting respective OTA threads with the links to manually download the firmware when they are available.</p>

As expected, the manufacturer bragged about its achievements including the number of users it has. However, the main part of the event was the unveiling of the next major version, ColorOS 6.0.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-224302" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Color-OS-6.0.jpg?x44794" alt="ColorOS 6.0" width="690" height="296" /></p>
<p>OPPO says ColorOS 6.0 is designed for borderless phones. While that doesn&#8217;t mean phones with bezels won&#8217;t get the update, it means that the experience will likely be different on phones like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x/">Find X</a> and other OPPO phones with minimal or no bezels.</p>
<p>In terms of the UI of ColorOS 6.0, OPPO has gone for a gradient color scheme. From the images shared by OPPO, the colors gravitate towards white from the top to the bottom. OPPO adds that the reason for using white is to create a sense of space so content doesn&#8217;t appear clustered.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-224303" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OPPO-Sans.jpg?x44794" alt="OPPO Sans" width="690" height="296" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OPPO-Sans.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OPPO-Sans-300x129.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>ColorOS 6.0 also brings a new Chinese text font called OPPO Sans. The new font was developed in collaboration with local font designer, Hanyi.</p>
<p>There are also performance improvements. OPPO says a new feature called AI application quick freeze which prevents apps from being shut down in the background. Instead, the phone freezes the app. OPPO says the AI system studies the user&#8217;s app usage patterns for about 15 days and knows which apps should be frozen or not. With this new feature, OPPO claims overall power consumption should reduce by 7%.</p>

<p>ColorOS 6.0 will begin rolling out to devices next year. However, there is no info on which devices will be getting it and if it will be bringing Android 9 Pie too.</p>
