Recent events in India point to the Contessa being released as an EV. It could become the first muscle electric vehicle to be produced commercially in India. Hindustan Motors has trademarked the Contessa brand name in India. This is seen as a move by the EV maker to revive the fortunes of the once-dominant luxury sedan.

The HM Contessa was a very popular model in the 1980s and its EV version will pack a new powertrain and chassis. The design and interior of the new EV will also reflect significant improvements from its gas-powered predecessor.
