Inside the box, you are getting all the usual stuff and some extras include a really nice and high-quality protective case.

As for design, the phone is pretty simple and plain looking, there is nothing spectacular about the looks. We don’t have any premium materials like metal but the phone is well built and it is very comfortable to hold it.

We have a 5.5” 720p panel, which actually looks really nice. It has natural looking colors, it is sharp and quite bright.

We have a 5MP selfie snapper along with the LED notification light. Unfortunately, 3 capacitive buttons are not backlit.

The backplate, which is made of rubberized plastic is very nice to the touch and it can be easily removed. Underneath it, you can find 2 SIM card slots and the microSD card slot.

As far as optics, we have a 13MP camera and a single LED flash.

The loudspeaker sits on the back and the quality of it is just average as it sounds a bit tinny.

The buttons have a good tactile feedback.

Overall, the phone does not have any exceptional design elements but it sports a good build quality despite not using any premium materials.

Cubot Dinosaur uses a quad-core MTK6735 CPU along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

The 3D gaming performance is good if you play games on medium graphics. However, you should expect some stutter and skipped frames on the highest graphics settings.

The phone ships with Android 6.0 out of the box and we have some added features by Cubot.

For example, there are plenty of gesture and motion controls. As usual, I use only a couple of them and they work fine.

Most importantly, the phone runs fast and fluid and this is what you have to expect from a device that runs on almost stock Android.

The daylight image quality is actually pretty good as the pictures have a decent amount of detail and sharpness. However, the dynamic range is not always adjusted well. As always, you cannot expect wonders in low-light situations from the phone in this price range.

A 5MP selfie shooter does not impress as the images have quite a lot of noise and the level of detail is low. Video quality is okay and it is on par with other phones in this price range.

As for connectivity, I don’t have any complaints about the call quality or signal reception. Also, wifi, Bluetooth and GPS work fine.

One of the highlights of the phone is a 4150mAh battery and it performs really well.

I could constantly get over 6.5h of screen-on time on a mixed use and I believe I could get even more out of this battery on a light use.

Cubot Dinosaur is a pretty simple phone that gets the basics right.

The phone is well built, it has a nice display and internal hardware that assures a smooth UI performance as well as the ability to play some 3D games. Also, the device sports a juicy battery that will let you use the phone for at least a couple of days.

The camera can take some good looking images in broad daylight but disappoints in low-light.

We can’t say that Cubot Dinosaur is the one and only option worth checking out at this price point but it does most of the things right and it does not have any major shortcomings.

Cubot might have named its new smartphone the Dinosaur, but this particular device aims to solve the problems of the new age smartphones. According to the company, there are four major things in a smartphone that needs to be taken care of, namely battery life, thickness, weight, and grip. It looks like the Cubot Dinosaur will be a balance of these four aspects.

First up, the phone comes with a 4150mAh battery which is quite large even for today’s standards. There are a number of phones in the market with this much battery capacity, but personally, I feel 4000mAh is enough to last any phone for an entire day. Now, the company states that it made sure the phone wasn’t too thick or weighted even with this large battery. As a result, the Dinosaur features an 8.8mm thick body, which is pretty acceptable. Then there’s the weight, which is 185 grams, a tad weighted as compared to some phones, but Cubot says that it is almost the same as any large battery phone, like Oppo R9 Plus or even Huawei Mate 8.

Then comes the point of a good grip. The Cubot Dinosaur will come with a plaid-like design as seen on the Redmi 3 model. The back is textured which helps to create a sense of friction and makes sure that the phone doesn’t slip out of the hand. Given that users spend a considerable amount of time with their phones in a day, the company states that these aspects need to be given importance.

Looks wise, the Cubot Dinosaur isn’t unique, but the overall package seems to be quite good, at least for now. We will have to wait for more details like the pricing and availability. Chinese companies are known to release smartphone with unique names. In fact, many of them have very unusual brand names. Now, the smartphone manufacturer Cubot will release a new smartphone and it’s called the Dinosaur. Yes, the phone will be called as the Dinosaur, most likely because it features a massive battery. The phone will come with a 4150mAh battery on board to make sure that it will last long.

Despite its unique name, the phone looks like any other regular smartphone in the market. This includes a plastic body with a textured back. Judging from the specs and the pricing, the company seems to be targeting the entry level segment. So, large battery smartphone lovers who are on a budget can definitely take a look at this device.

Coming to the specs of the phone, the Cubot Dinosaur will feature the MT6735A quad-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. What’s really interesting is that the company has decided to include 3GB of RAM inside along with 16GB of internal storage. As for the display, the Dinosaur will feature a 5.5-inch 720p IPS capacitive screen. Also, in case you are wondering, the phone does support MicroSD card expansion, up to 32GB.

Like mentioned above, the battery underneath is large, measuring 4150mAh in capacity. It’s removable, which is an added plus. With this battery inside, you can use the phone as a powerbank as well. Also, the phone measures just 8.8mm in thickness. At the back, there will be a 13MP interpolated camera, while up front, there will be a 5MP shooter. Other features of the phone include 4G LTE support, dual SIM dual standby, HotKnot, USB OTG and Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

So, this looks like an entry level handset with a large battery. It should be cheap, but the official price tag has not yet been revealed. The phone will meet us in April. Check out the official Cubot website for details.
