Ultrawide monitors keep getting bigger, and HP’s newest addition is about as wide as they come. The Series 5 Pro 49″ is the company’s largest screen to date, built for people who spend their day juggling spreadsheets, video calls, and games.

The display stretches across 49 inches with a 32:9 aspect ratio, basically the same as putting two 27-inch monitors side by side. Its 1,800R curve helps keep the edges from feeling too far away, while the VA panel runs at 5,120 x 1,440 resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate. That should be more than enough for smooth scrolling or gaming, though HP hasn’t said much about brightness or color coverage yet.

Where HP is trying to stand out is in the extras. The Series 5 Pro has a pop-up 5MP webcam that supports Windows Hello, so it can disappear when not in use and come back instantly for a video call. A USB-C port with 140W power delivery can charge a laptop while driving the display, and the monitor doubles as a hub with USB-A ports, Ethernet, and a pair of built-in 5W speakers.

It’s expected to cost around $1,300 when it arrives in November.

For people who want a single screen to replace a dual-monitor setup, the Series 5 Pro could be a neat option. Acer Predator Z57

The Predator Z57 is the company’s flagship gaming monitor. The model offers a 57-inch curved display that offers a Dual UHD (7680×2160) resolution and offers 120Hz refresh rate. It features 2304-zone MiniLED technology, which promises to offer improved picture quality and brightness. It has a wide 32:9 aspect ratio and a 1000R curvature. The former sports a 39-inch panel, while the latter has a 34-inch screen. Both models feature up to UWQHD resolution (3440×1440) resolution and up to a 240Hz refresh rate. The high refresh rate is paired with 0.01ms pixel response time to ensure a smoother and stutter free gameplay experience. The two OLED gaming monitors also offer 800R curvature.

The displays support a 99 percent DCI-P3 color gamut and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. These models arrive with Eyesafe 2.0 certification to ease the strain on users’ eyes. The Predator X34 X has a starting price tag of 1,299 USD while the Predator X39 starts from 1,499 USD. These will also go on sale in the Chinese market in Q1 2024, while the release in other regions kicks off in Q2 2024.

Note: All four new gaming monitors support AMD FreeSync Premium technology to prevent screen tearing and flickering. A USB Type-C enables 90W PD port that delivers power, display, and data transfer. The new Predator Gaming Monitors feature built in KVM switch for swapping sources without having to reconnect peripherals.

AOC has just introduced a brand-new gaming monitor in the Chinese market. The company’s latest offering is the CU34G3X model, which is a curved gaming monitor. It features some notable specs and features, so here are all the details.

AOC CU34G3X Specs

The company’s new CU34G3X is the successor to the CU34G2X, which was released two years ago. As the name suggests, this monitor sports a tall 34-inch VA display, which offers 3,440 x 1,440 resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate. Despite being a VA panel, it features high contrast ratio of 4000:1, 1ms response time, and AMD’s FreeSync technology. The display is curved with a 1500R panel and a wide 21:9 aspect ratio. Just earlier this month, the brand had even announced another 27-inch gaming monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate.

Cooler Master recently unveiled a 27″ QHD Mini-LED monitor in the US and UK. A new report by TFT Central has now unveiled its plans to launch the successor of the GM34-CWQ gaming monitor. The new monitor will be called the GM34-CWQ2, and it will get a slight refresh rate boost.

Cooler Master GM34-CWQ2 specs (expected)

The Cooler Master GM34-CWQ2 is said to feature a 34-inch VA display with a 1500R curvature, similar to its predecessor. It will feature a QHD resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. The typical brightness of the monitor will be around 320 nits and it will have a static contrast ratio of 4000:1.

The monitor will also come with 8-bit+FRC color bit depth and coverage of 95% of the DCI-P3 color space. The main upgrade will be the refresh rate. IDC, a leading authority on market research that gauges the pulse of both consumers and producers, has released a new report on the global monitor market. According to this report, the market saw a 17.1% decline in Q2 2023 compared to the same period last year. Notably, this decline was not limited to a specific region or country but was observed in shipments worldwide.

There are several reasons for this downturn, with the most significant being Covid-19. As you may know, the lockdowns brought about by the pandemic disrupted economic forecasts, leading to a major spending shift. People stuck at home started picking up new hobbies to entertain themselves and bought everything they could afford. Yes, this includes monitors. This trend lasted for about two years, and everything returned to normal by the end of 2022. Unfortunately, the subsequent period began to reflect negatively on the charts.

However, the future still looks promising for the global monitor market, especially in Q4 2023. As we all know, one of the impacts of the pandemic has been the widespread adoption of remote work. For instance, I’m also working from home using my computer, without going to any physical office location. The rise of hybrid and work-from-home models is driving demand for monitors, as employees are now requiring multiple screens to accommodate both their home and office tasks.

I experienced this in my own situation as well. Additionally, the gaming sector is another significant driver for monitor demand. Gamers are on the hunt for high-performance displays with features like high refresh rates and low input lag. Let’s not forget the growing popularity and demand for 4K and 8K panels. All these factors combined indicate an upward trend.

IDC predicts that the global monitor market will stabilize beyond 2025. The platform also expects that new monitor models that offer enhanced value propositions, such as faster panels, an increase in mini-LED monitors, and continued growth in the gaming segment, will be introduced in 2024. These developments should increase reasons for consumers and businesses to consider upgrading their displays, contributing to the continued evolution of the monitor market.The top five PC monitor vendors in terms of market share in Q2 2023 were Samsung, Dell, HP, Asus, and Lenovo.

We recently got to know that Gigabyte is working on the revision of the popular M27QX gaming monitor. Now, the brand has also revealed that it will soon be launching a new curved monitor in the market called the Gigabyte GS34WQC.

Huawei launches the MateView and MateView GT Monitors for Gamers and Professionals

Huawei has just launched new monitors earlier today (19th May 2021) in China. This includes the new MateView and MateView GT monitors that are targeted towards professionals and gamers, respectively.

MateView

Talking about the MateView monitor first, it is one of the newly launched monitors from the Chinese tech giant and features specifications that are useful for productivity. It sports a 28.2 inch display that has a 3840x2560px resolution with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Looking at its design, the company has offered a minimalistic design with ultra thin bezels and a broad stand that expands into the base.

The screen is an IPS panel and offers a maximum brightness of 500 nits along with HDR400 and the standard 60Hz refresh rate.
