A new leak has revealed some details regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series model. The new leak has hinted that the upcoming flagship smartwatch model from the company will feature a curved glass design.

The news arrives from known tipster Ice Universe who shared the information on Twitter. Apparently, the South Korean tech giant’s next gen smart wearable device will be bringing back the curved glass design that some of the earlier Galaxy Watch models featured in the past. Keep in mind that the curved aspect is only in regards to the glass panel over the display and likely not the display itself.

Unfortunately, the tipster has also added that there are no additional details that are currently available regarding the upcoming smartwatch. Although, we can expect more information to surface soon in the forms of leaks or rumors since the Galaxy Watch 6 is set to launch sometime later this year. We had recently also covered a patent from Samsung that detailed a Galaxy Watch that can project the display onto the users hand.

While there is a slight possibility that the brand could be looking to bring this feature onto its future smartwatches, it is highly improbable that the project smartwatch will be a part of the Galaxy Watch 6 series. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

The news is that Samsung, who is technically the pioneer when it comes to curved displays will not be releasing a flat-screen version of it’s Galaxy S8 flagship next year.

According to the source, the tradition of releasing a flat-surfaced variant and a curved-screen edition of their flagship will not be continued next year. Instead the S8 will only be available as a curved-screen phone.

Does that mean there will only be one Samsung Galaxy S8? No, there will still be two, as the source goes on to say that the S8 will be available in two sizes. A 5.7-inch model and a 6.2-inch model!!!

To be honest, a number of Samsung fans might not be happy with the new screen sizes. The S7 is a 5.1-inch phone and the Edge variant comes in at 5.5-inches. Quite a number of people like the small form factor of the S7 and would not be comfortable making a jump to 5.7-inches even though it will have a dual-curved display.

While we understand Samsung might be trying to make up for the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, they should not do that at the expense of those who are not fans of the note series.

What do you think about the S8 having only a curved-screen variant? Are you also happy that the screens will be getting pretty large?

But Xiaomi isn’t a company that’s usually happy with just one flagship. So, could it be possible that Xiaomi has another curved screen smartphone in the works? At least that’s what a newly leaked image indicates.

Weibo is the hub of leaks, and the latest leak is said to reveal an unannounced curved Xiaomi smartphone. Now, the company already has two flagships with amazing displays — the Xiaomi Mi Mix and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. But this one’s a bit different. We just get a glimpse of the alleged phone, but that’s enough to reveal a different style of curved display used on the device.

curved like the LG G Flex

The image shows that the phone is running MIUI and comes with a curve near the center, much like the LG G Flex. Now, if you remember, the Mi Note 2’s curved display is supplied by LG, so having a phone with a similar display as LG’s old G Flex isn’t entirely out of the picture. But given that the design didn’t really work out well for LG, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will experiment with the same design again.

Of course, before you get too excited, I would like to add that there is no conclusive evidence to say this is indeed a new smartphone from Xiaomi. So, we better wait for more details.

What is news is that it is launching tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow the 7th of December and it will be released under the Honor sub-brand.

Back when the rumor of a concept phone from the phone giant started floating around, the assumption was that it would be released under the main Huawei brand. However, earlier today, insider @Kevin King Diary posted on Weibo that the phone will wear the Honor name.

The reason for this is so that the phone doesn’t compete directly with the recently released Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Edition which both have curved-displays. And with the success of the Honor 8, whose only flaw is its limited band support we believe this new device will not disappoint. We hope the new concept phone has global band support though.

The Honor concept phone is expected to use a curved display supplied by Samsung and also be the first phone to feature Huawei’s super fast battery which charges up to 50% in just 5-minutes.

Another important detail leaked about the device is that it won’t feature many of the physical hardware components a phone is supposed to have like a camera and speaker but will instead come with a set of peripherals that will provide the required function.

Does this mean we are looking at another Moto Z? It’s hard to ay for now but hopefully after the launch tomorrow, we should be able to understand how the phone works.

This year major top Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei released curved screen phones. But it seems we will be getting another curved screen phone from a top manufacturer as images of a Gionee phone with a curved display have surfaced online.

The first thing you will notice about the phone is its weird design. It’s like Gionee is trying to settle for a luxury phone similar to what you will get from Vertu or 8848. The display size and type is unknown but it appears to be larger than 5.5-inches and that is excluding the huge black bands at the top and bottom of the screen.

The bezels have a groove-like design and run all the way to the back like they are cut from one single piece of metal. The top bezel houses the front facing camera on the right and the sensor on the left. The lower bezel on the other hand is where the fingerprint scanner/home button lies.

READ MORE: Gionee Releases Selfie Focused S6s in India for 17,999 Rupees

Moving to the back, we see Gionee has settled for a mixture of leather and metal. The phone sports dual cameras stacked on top of each and a LED flash. The camera setup is framed by a piece of metal cut to look like a shield with Gionee’s smiley logo engraved on it. To be honest, I believe Gionee could have come up with a better design.

We do not know anything about the specs of the phone except that it will have 6GB of RAM as seen in the first picture. There is also no mention of the release date but one thing we might be sure of is the price. It will not be cheap seeing as the design seems to scream luxury even though it doesn’t look like a head turner.

First of all, it is confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the company’s first dual curved screen display smartphone, joining the likes of Samsung and Vivo. This clearly shows that the company is eager to establish its presence in the premium market, unlike at present, where it mainly operates in the low-end to the affordable mid-range segment.

As we wait less than 24 hours for the official launch of the flagship, it’s time to look at what to expect from the Mi Note 2. There are some real high-end features expected on the device, so tomorrow’s launch is definitely going to be exciting.

Dual Curved Display

Since Xiaomi has already confirmed it, we know for sure that the Mi Note 2 will come with dual curved display. While we are not entirely sure about the supplier, it is said that the curved display is going to be supplied by LG and not Samsung. Considering all major phones with dual curved display used Samsung’s curved OLED panels, it will be interesting to see the partnership between LG and Xiaomi.

Dual Cameras

This is something we are not entirely sure about. But considering the Mi Note 2 is a premium flagship from the company, we should expect nothing less than dual cameras on board. We have seen both single camera as well as dual camera renders of the Mi Note 2, and the company hasn’t revealed anything specific regarding this feature. So, we can only guess what to expect in the camera department.

Dual cameras are a real possibility because Xiaomi has started using such a setup on its other smartphones. Starting with the Redmi Pro and now on the Mi 5S Plus, both use dual cameras at the back, which means the company believes that dual cameras are the way to go for better photography. Considering this, despite the single camera renders that we have seen lately, dual cameras on the Mi Note 2 is a good possibility.

Snapdragon 821 & High-end Hardware

Expect nothing less than Snapdragon 821 and 6GB RAM on the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Although there could be a cheaper version with 4GB RAM available. Also, the curved display is said to come with 2K resolution, which means the phone will be VR ready as well. Further, we should find NFC on the phone as well, considering how Xiaomi is focused on its mobile payment platform Xiaomi Pay.

Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor

It won’t be surprising if the Mi Note 2 comes with the same ultrasonic fingerprint sensor as found on the Mi 5S. For some reason, the company skipped this advanced sensor on the Mi 5S Plus, but I don’t think it can afford to skip this feature on a premium flagship such as the Mi Note 2.

Global Network Band Support

One of the biggest letdowns of Xiaomi’s smartphones for international users was the lack of 4G LTE network support. I have seen so many users disappointed to see that most LTE network bands in Europe and US were not supported by Xiaomi phones, and therefore they had to opt for a different brand phone. That’s most likely going to change with the Mi Note 2, considering how a recent post by one of the officials of the company revealed that the flagship was going to support 37 global brands.

Not So Cheap Anymore

Since the Mi Note 2 is a premium handset from Xiaomi, don’t expect it to be as cheap as other company phones. It is said that the phone could be the costliest handset from Xiaomi, priced at around 4000 Yuan ($600). Some rumors have given an even higher price tag, upwards of $700, but it is likely that at least the basic versions are priced at around $600.

So, that’s what we expect to see on the Mi Note 2.

We are less than 24 hours away from the official company event, so make sure that you stay tuned to gizmochina for tomorrow’s event updates.

Well, you are not the only one! In fact, we have seen that the S7 Edge model easily outsold the flat screen Galaxy S7 flagship this year. And with the beautiful Note 7 now out in the market, there is no doubt that our love for curved screen smartphones will intensify further.

And now, there’s a new report that Samsung may actually stop making flat screen Galaxy S series smartphones. The report states that the company will put more focus on manufacturing curved screen smartphones in the Galaxy range, thereby hinting that it could eventually eliminate flat screen models in the flagship lineup. The report quotes the comment made by the head of Samsung’s Mobile division last week.

“Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions (for the curved screen),” said Koh Dong-jin, the head of the tech giant’s mobile business, in a media interview in New York last week.

RELATED: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Is the Best Selling Phone In 1H 2016

For the past couple of years, Samsung has traditionally unveiled the curved edge variant alongside the flat screen model. However, with the Note 7, things are a bit different, with the company just launching one variant with the dual curved screen. This is yet another indication about the company’s intentions of focusing on curved screen models, instead of a flat screen one. And it looks like the Note 7 is going to be the model which will help the South Korean giant to make the decision of scrapping flat screen models out of the lineup.

What do you think? Would you be happy to see just one curved screen Galaxy S8 model next year?

The leaked pictures shows a phone that closely resembles the Meizu Pro 6 and MX6 (more like the latter IMO). The only visible difference is the antenna line at the bottom which doesn’t curve upwards on this new phone. The camera and the LED flash are both positioned in the same spots and it also features a physical home button/fingerprint scanner.

The E Means Exynos

So what does this imply? We have translated this to mean that the E on the invite doesn’t stand for a new E-series but for Exynos and in this case the Samsung Exynos 8890.

Rumor also has it that the new device will have 4GB of RAM like the MX6, 64GB of ROM, and support fast charging. The picture already shows a USB Type-C port positioned in between the speaker grille and 3.5mm audio jack.

RELATED: Meizu Pro 6 With Exynos 8890 Spotted

No Curved Display Yet

Meizu’s CEO, Bai Yongxiang mentioned after the launch of the MX6 that the company might release a curved screen phone in future. We can already see that it won’t be showing up on this device. But there are still 4 months before the end of the year, so that curved display might still be released.

However, Xiaomi isn’t a company that likes to be behind for long and looks like the company will soon release a new flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which will take on some of the best phones in the market right now. The Mi Note series have always been the top-end flagship from the company and it seems that the new update will make sure that Xiaomi has a couple of models in the top-end segment. So, what can we expect to see on the new Mi Note 2?

zAccording to the latest information, the Mi Note 2 will come in three variants — standard version, high version and top-end version. While the Weibo source didn’t reveal the exact specifications of the three models, it mentioned some features that differentiate each of the three variants.

The Mi Note 2 Standard version is said to come with a single camera sensor at the back, Hi-Fi chip, and a regular quick charge feature.

The Mi Note 2 High version will come with dual cameras at the back (will be first for the company) with Hi-Fi as well as a super quick charging feature. We have no idea what kind of charging is meant by this super quick charge, but it’s probably faster and more efficient than the regular version.

Finally, there will be a Mi Note 2 top-end version which, for now, let’s call it the Mi Note Edge model. It will come with a curved screen display with a top-end Hi-Fi chip as well as the super quick charge tech found on the high version.

While the source hasn’t revealed any specs, considering the above information, we can expect the standard version to feature 4GB RAM while the other two variants to come with 6GB of RAM. After all, Xiaomi wouldn’t want Mi Note 2 to lose to other 6GB RAM phones. As for the display, it should be the same size as the first generation model, i.e. 5.7-inch with 1080p resolution on the standard and high version and 2K on the top-end curved screen model. Given that VR is turning out to be an important market for smartphone makers, the Mi Note 2 along with the Xiaomi Mi5S could be ideal phones for the company to focus its attention in this field.

While we don’t have a date yet, the Mi Note 2 is expected to be announced sometime in the next few months. Given its specifications, don’t expect it to be cheap. Hopefully, more details will emerge along with renders and pictures in the next few weeks.

However, it took nearly one year for the trend to catch on, as now, multiple Chinese smartphone manufacturers are reported to be working on their own dual edged smartphones. Apart from the Galaxy S7 Edge, this year, we have one more dual edge screen smartphone in the market right now, the Vivo XPlay 5. But soon, we will be seeing a lot many such phones from noted phone makers like Meizu, Huawei, and even Xiaomi.

For the past few months, we have seen several reports which give us some insight on the curved smartphone from Xiaomi. Now, a new report claims to add more information, which is actually in line with what we heard earlier. Sources from Korea report that LG Display is entering the Dual edge curved OLED display market this year, which is currently led by Samsung, mainly because, it is the only big player in the market. With LG’s entry, things could get interesting soon, with different Chinese smartphone makers split between Samsung and LG for sourcing their curved displays for upcoming smartphones.

RELATED: Meizu Reportedly Working On A Curved Screen Flagship With Exynos 8890

It is said that LG is already developing a double edge curved OLED panel and will be supplying it to Xiaomi later this year. So, what this means is that Xiaomi is sourcing its display from LG, instead of the market leader Samsung, which is exactly what we heard a few days back. In fact, earlier report had said that Xiaomi’s curved phone could be delayed to Spring of 2017 because LG’s curved display production capacity was limited in the short term.

In case you are wondering, Huawei’s curved display smartphone could be using Samsung’s display. Earlier reports have said that Samsung and Huawei seem to be working together for its new phone. However, the new report says that LG Display is also in negotiation with Huawei for supplying curved OLEDs to the company. At this moment, nothing is confirmed.

Considering the dual edge design of the upcoming Xiaomi phone, expect the specs to be high-end as well. We already have a basic idea about the phone’s specs thanks to a previous leak. This included Snapdragon 823 (which is still unannounced), 6GB of RAM and even dual cameras.
