A former Rockstar developer has shed some light on some reasons behind the delay in the PC port for the upcoming GTA 6 game or other games. Many are excited about the confirmation of GTA 6 availability on XBox Series S/X and the PlayStation 5 via the trailer itself, but many are still curious as to when and if the game will be released on the PC. The game, which took over a decade to develop and created history with the trailer on YouTube, will still take some time to officially launch on gaming consoles.

Rockstar initially launches games for consoles and then comes for PC, which usually takes from a few months to a few years. Mike York, the game developer, has now explained the reasons for the PC port’s delay. He also sheds some light on why Rockstar game developers focus more on the console versions of the game.

While explaining on his YouTube channel, York Reacts, he discusses the delays in PC ports, using GTA 6 as an example. It also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing console development before heading to the PC ports.

Reasons for Delay in PC Port for GTA 6:

As per York, the Developers take time to optimize console versions, concentrating on the platforms with higher sales, like Play Station, etc. Further, making the PC port the best involves refining and enhancing games based on the new possibilities offered by PC hardware. The diverse hardware configurations make it difficult for the developers to refine each bug and take a longer time in development.

In an example, York explained, “Most of the time, especially in the past, PlayStation was the big seller…so what the developer would do is focus all their energy on making sure the PlayStation port and the PlayStation game works really well”, and “When I was working on GTA 5 for instance, we would concentrate on the PS3 and the Xbox at the time but we were mainly pushing the PS3 to the limits.”

After development, the testing process gets extensive due to different GPUs and CPUs. The limited resources and manpower on the developer end led to the prioritization of console versions over PC ports. These issues are also lingering over the PC port development of GTA 6.

The video also cites examples of poorly received PC ports, like Arkham Asylum. Further, he even asks for the users’ patience and understanding of the complexity of PC port development.

Apple has long been rumored to be working on its very own mixed reality headset. However, it seems like that launch schedule for this new product has been delayed due to various reasons. So let’s have a look.

The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He had previously claimed that the mixed reality headset from the Cupertino based giant was seeing various hurdles in development. This led to delays in the announcement of the AR/VR headset. Now, Kuo has doubled down on this prediction, stating that the revealing and the release of the device will be pushed back. Apple reportedly had planned to announce its first ever headset via a dedicated event this January 2023.

However, it appears that the AR/VR headset release has been postponed to Apple’s Spring event or possibly even as late as the WWDC 2023 event where it typically unveils new software tech. Kuo also added that the mixed reality headset development is behind schedule to due issues with mechanical component drop testing and the availability of software development tools. So the mass shipments might also be delayed from the original Q2 2023 timeline to the end of this same period or to Q3 2023.

The design and finer details regarding the Apple headset is still at large, although previous reports have suggested that it will feature 15 cameras all around. It could also pack a ton of head tracking sensors, along with spatial audio support, sport dual 8K OLED displays, and pack the latest M2 chipset. Xiaomi and iQOO were gearing up to launch their latest flagship series of smartphones in China soon. However, both brands have just announced that their respective launch events have been postponed following the death of the former leader of China.

For those unaware, Jiang Zemin was the Chinese communist leader and was the head who helped the nation acquire its position as a global superpower. The former leader has passed away at the age of 96, as per local news agency. Following this news, the Chinese tech giant announced that on Weibo (Chinese microblogging website) that it will be delaying the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series. The company further added that the upcoming smartphones will be announced soon, but have yet to official reveal a launch date.

On a similar note, iQOO has also announced the postponement of its launch event for the iQOO 11 series of flagship devices. During the iQOO conference, the brand was also set to announce the new iQOO Neo 7 SE model as well. However, it seems that the release will take place at a later. But unfortunately, the brand hasn’t announced a new launch date either for its new smartphone models. Previously, we had reported on the Search Engine giant’s new handset and smartwatch launch being imminent after they were listed on online carriers. But now, it seems that the brand’s budget smartphone has been delayed to July 2022. On the other hand, the Pixel Watch has also been delayed, and will reportedly launch in May. The news arrives from Jon Prosser who also claimed that the smartwatch might get even further delayed as well.

Most of the leading smartphone manufacturers already have at least one foldable smartphone in the market while companies like Samsung have already launched three generations of such devices.

On the other hand, Apple is yet to launch a foldable iPhone but there were reports about such a device getting launched soon. However, a new report indicates that the foldable iPhone has been delayed.

According to a new report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, Apple’s foldable iPhone is delayed until 2025. The reason given for this is that the company is exploring all-screen foldable MacBooks.

The delay for the launch of a foldable iPhone is quite long if it is not getting official until 2025. Earlier, the device was rumored to get launched sometime in 2023 or 2024 to catch up with the competition in the market. But the delay in the launch indicates that the tech giant is not in a hurry to enter the foldable smartphones market.

Interestingly, the company is now focusing on MacBooks and is allegedly exploring possibilities of offering an all-screen foldable notebook. The company is currently in discussion with suppliers for around 20-inch foldable screen.

However, the launch timeline for the foldable MacBook is likely later than 2025 and the launch is most likely to take place in 2026 or 2027. This could turn out be a new product category for the company with two different use cases in folded and full opened forms.

Meanwhile, the company is set to launch several new products this year, including the Apple iPhone 14 series, M2 chipset, MacBooks powered by the M2 chipset, a 27-inch iMac Pro with M1 Pro or M1 Max processor, and a new Mac Mini, among others.

Earlier this week, Elon Musk, the CEO and Founder of Tesla, has just announced that the highly anticipated Cybertruck has been delayed. Now, the vehicle will be launching sometime next year.

The Cybertruck from the American electric vehicle manufacturer was rumored to face a launch delay, and now, the brand’s exec has officially confirmed it. Notably, the news also arrives as the carmaker shared its quarterly report revenue and delivery details that showcased more than 50 percent rise of its EV shipments, despite the ongoing shortages in the supply chain. For those unaware, the futuristic Cybertruck was first unveiled back in 2019.

Since then, the company had to delay its production to late 2021, which got further pushed back to late 2022. And now, its production has been postponed for the third time. This also means 2023 will be a big year for Tesla, who will be launching its Cybertruck, Semi, Roadster, and even its humanoid robot next year. Musk stated that “We will not be introducing new vehicle models this year. It would not make any sense because we’ll still be parts constrained.”

He reassured that “Batteries will probably not be the limiting factor in Cybertruck production,” rather, “I worry more about like how do we make the Cybertruck affordable despite having awesome technology.”

While the smartphone market in India has already seen the launch of a number of 5G enabled devices, 5G networking is still not commercially available in the region. Now, a new report has revealed that the original plans for 5G auctions might be even further delayed as well.

Previously, we had reported on the Indian government planning on holding the 5G spectrum auction in November 2021. However, this was rumored to have been pushed back to the first quarter of next year. But now, it seems like the auctions have been postponed even further. The reason for the delay is the six month 5G trial extension that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has given to a number of telecommunication operators in the country.

This includes the likes of Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Via ETTelecom). Initially, these telecos were granted permission to conduct trials in the 3500MHz band that was allocated by the government. But while these trials were set to expire later this month on November 26, the Department of Telecommunications has apparently extended the 5G trials by an additional six months. This, in turn, means that the 5G spectrum auctions might be held at a date around May of next year.

The news arrives from sources close to the mater who stted that a lot of works still needs to be done on spectrum availability. Furthermore, even the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also yet to provide recommendation on a number of bands. This includes the 700 MHz, 3.3 to 3.6GHz and the millimeter wave.

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is still unclear. While various rumors believed that it would be launching soon, recent reports have stated otherwise. Now, new information has suggested that the smartphone will be arriving in January 2022.

According to a SamMobile report, the South Korean tech giant will be launching the Galaxy S21 FE in January 2021. However, the device won’t be announced in a major event or even a virtual Unpacked conference, rather it would quietly launched through a simple press release. On the other hand, this implies that the launch of the Galaxy S22 series, which was previously expected to launch in January, will likely be delayed.

It is highly unlikely that Samsung would launch to high end smartphones alongside each other, so a minimum gap of a month can be expected between the two releases. Notably, the report added that the Galaxy S21 FE might only be availability might be limited at launch, with some nations receiving units in January while the rest might face further delays for its sale.

As of right now, the global chip shortage is expected to be the primary reason for the delayed launch of the Galaxy S21 FE. But a delay in the plan could be good for the company as it would be able to secure more chips for its next gen flagship lineup. Furthermore, Samsung might even conduct an Unpacked event for the Galaxy S22 series prior to MWC 2022 that is set to start from February 28. Although, this is still unconfirmed so take this report with a pinch of salt for now.

The 96W USB Type C power adapter that is designed for the 16 inch Apple MacBook Pro is suffering from long delivery times, with shipping estimates showing a sizeable 2 to 3 months of time.

The long shipping estimate was spotted by MacRumors on the Cupterino based giant’s official online store in the US. Notably, the 2 to 3 month long shipping period was also reflected on the brand’s various other online stores in multiple countries. As of right now, the adapter is also listed as unavailable for in store pickup at most of the Apple retail stores across the globe. Initially, the 2 to 3 month long shipping delay first appeared in certain regions like Japan.

But now, the issue has extended to include more countries as well. The news also arrives as the brand is rumored to be gearing up for the launch of the redesigned 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models later this year. In other words, the true reason for the shipping delay for the 96W MacBook Pro charger is unknown at the moment. The 96W charger was usually sold with the 16 inch MacBook Pro since the notebook initially launched back in 2019. Although, it is also available separately as well.

Notably, the company’s smaller 20W, 30W, and 61W power adapters are not facing a similar issue currently in the US. After announcing the new iPhone 13 series smartphones a couple of days back, technology giant Apple has now started taking pre-orders for all four models in the lineup. On the same day that they opened pre-orders, the delivery time for the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro has already been pushed to October.

Those who are pre-ordering the smartphone will be able to get their hands on the latest iPhone models on 24th September. However, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have slipped back in delivery estimates.

On Apple‘s official website, if you try to pre-book the iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max, the delivery estimate for it lies between October 18 and October 25 which indicates a delay of almost a month than what the company announced at the time of launch.

The issue of delayed deliveries isn’t limited to the United States. Customers in the United Kingdom are also facing the same with the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and even with the standard iPhone 13 model, with deliveries estimated to begin in October.

All four models come powered by the company’s latest Apple A15 Bionic chipset. The Pro models feature a 120Hz Super Retina XDR ProMotion display protected by a sheet of Ceramic Shield. It also comes with upgraded camera configuration and features.

The Apple iPhone 13 series smartphones come in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options while the Pro models also get a 1TB storage option for the first time. While the pricing starts at $699, the top-end variant costs $1,599. The Pro models also come in four color options — Sierra Blue, Silver, Gold, and Graphite.

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the latest version of its Android OS based custom skin, the One UI 4.0. While the new version had an initial launch date of September 9, the company has now delayed the roll out for the beta.

The South Korean tech giant’s Community Manager provided update regarding the One UI 4.0, confirming the delayed roll out for the beta in a forum post. He stated that “We ask for your understanding and we cannot inform you of the schedule until the beta is open.” For those unaware, the One UI 4.0 update is highly anticipated since it is based on the new Android 12 OS. Furthermore, its predecessor, the One UI 3.1.1 update, didn’t bring major upgrades or changes to the custom skin.

Previously, the latest version’s beta was expected to go live on September 9 but the brand has delayed the roll out for an indefinite period as of right now. Although, since Samsung has already committed to a September time frame for the launch, the delay might not be too long. However, it is still unlikely to just roll out over the coming weekend. Unfortunately, the reason for the delay is currently unknown. But following tradition, we can expect the beta to drop in the company’s home country, South Korea, first before being released in other regions. For those unaware, the JioPhone Next smartphone arrives from a Reliance Jio and Google collaboration that sought to bring a first of its kind experience that was made for India. The model features an optimized OS that is based on Android and Play Store and would offer premium capabilities like voice first features, which was usually common in high end smartphones. This feature would allow users to consume content and navigate their handsets with their own language, while also delivering a great camera performance with Android features and security updates as well.

In a joint statement, the Indian telecom giant and the search engine giant said that the JioPhone Next is currently under going advanced trials with a limited set of users for “further refinement” and the company’s are currently aiming at launch date set in the Diwali festive season. Furthermore, another major factor leading to the delay is the global semiconductor shortage. The delayed launch would enable both brands to better “mitigate” the industry wide shortage of chipsets.

The Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion had just recently been announced for the Indian market. While the devices were set to launch soon, it seems that the company had to delay the sales date for the Edge 20 due to certain ‘unforeseen’ reasons.

For those unaware, the Edge 20 was set to launch on 24th August 2021 while the Edge 20 Fusion was set to go on sale on August 27. However, the company has now delayed the launch for the former with pre orders now beginning from August 24 rather than its first sale. Furthermore, it is currently unknown when the American smartphone maker will officially start selling the new Edge 20 in the region.

Apparently, the Edge 20’s sale has been indefinitely delayed, although, the Edge 20 Fusion will still launch on August 27. This handset will be available in the country through Flipkart and other major retail stores. The company stated that “We are glad to see the overwhelming response that we have received from media and consumers for both our recently launched Edge 20 series products. However, due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to defer the sale date for Edge 20, which we will announce shortly.”

TCL is likely to face delays in its plans to shift its liquid crystal display (LCD) factory, which the company is buying from Samsung Display, from TV panels to IT panels as per a new report.

According to TheElec report, the company is expected to face the delay due to the shortages of LCD TV panels in the market, with customers requesting TCL to extend LCD TV panel production at the Suzhou factory, as per sources close to the matter. Furthermore, the display maker is also facing delays in its acquisition of the factory itself as the South Korean government has yet to offers its approval on this deal at the moment.

Currently, TCL aims at further narrowing the gap in large sized panels with the current world leader, BOE. In the TV panel market, the firm has a market share within the early 10 percent, while BOE has a market share in the late 10 percent as well. However, when it comes to IT panels that are used in notebooks and tablets, TCL only has a market share of 2 to 3 percent, in comparison to BOE’s notable 30 percent. Thus, through the Suzhou plant, the company aims on raising its market share in IT Panel.

Notably, in the current market, IT panels are much more profitable in comparison to TV panels. IT panel prices are expected to continue to rise in the first half of this year, while TV panel prices are estimated to stagnate during the same period. Although, with Samsung and LG downscaling their LCD production, a shortage of LCD panels has affected various industries. India recently tightening its control of quality clearances for electronic goods from China has affected smartphone brands. The new rule has slowed the new Apple iPhone models last month and even help up products from Chinese companies like Xiaomi.

According to a Reuters report, sources from within the industry has revealed the information. With the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) setting up new standards, the applications for the quality control agency, which used to be processed within 15 days, are now taking anywhere between this period and up to two or more months longer. This has severely delayed certain products arriving from overseas and disrupted companies’ schedules.

BIS started delaying the approvals back in August 2020 for electronic devices that were made in China. This includes smartphones, smartwatches, and laptops, and likely arrives after the rising political tensions between India and China. For those unaware, a military clash back in June that left 20 Indian soldiers dead had caused an outrage and raised anti Chinese sentiments in India. Samsung Electronics has decided to postpone its plans to shut its LCD business to March 2021. The company had been planning to shut down its business for a while now, with plans to end operations by year end.

The reason for the delay in shutting down its LCD operations is to continue production at its L8 fab in the Asan plant for at least the next three months. According to an AndroidHeadlines report, the primary reason for the delay in shut down is due to the rise in demand for LCD panels caused by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. With various governments enforcing work from home policies and staying indoors has become encouraged, entertainment, workloads, and more has shifted to homes.

Thus, the South Korean tech giant has reportedly informed all related firms regarding its change of plans due to recent developments. For those unaware, Samsung has been producing LCD panels at its Asan Plant in its home country and its Suzhou plant in China. The company has already struck a deal with CSOT (China Star Optoelectronics Technology) for the sale of its Suzhou plant and has apparently also sold some equipment from its Asan plant to another Chinese firm as well.

The company is also in talks with two additional Chinese companies to sell the remaining equipment and is hoping to strike a deal by February 2021 and is hoping to shut down the LCD production by March. Samsung has been making LCDs since the early 1990s but had decided to shut production to make room for OLED panels, which have increasingly grown in popularity and demand in recent years.

A new research report from Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed interesting details regarding the launch plans for Apple in 2021. The report states that the Cupertino based giant will not launch a new iPhone SE in the first half of 2021, while the increased competition within its supply chain might cause a shift in standing among the suppliers.

The report from the known analyst also adds that the market is underestimating the impact of increased competition on Taiwan’s Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO). Furthermore, it is stated that the main reason for the GSEO’s revenue in October being lower than expectations was due to increased competition between Largan and Semco.

The Apple iPhone 12 series will be the company’s 2020 flagship series. It is the company’s first 5G lineup and a new report has suggested that the series will reach up to 68 million units in shipment in the second half of 2020, which is lower than its predecessor.

According to a DigiTimes report, the next generation of iPhones will reach a total of 63 to 68 million units in the second half of this year. This is a fall of about 5 million units in comparison to the previous generation’s iPhone 11 series that shipped back in 2019. The report arrives after projections were made that the production and the official launch of the new iPhone series will likely be delayed by four to six weeks. In other words, fall behind schedule due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, there is still hope as it is also possible that the extra unemployment benefits from the US government might be able to affect the actual sales of the iPhone 12 by as much as 10 million units in H2 2020. This is lower than the original estimation of around 190 million units being shipped.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm shared its financial report for Q3 2020 and also shared a few expectations for the next quarter, as per a 9to5Mac report. Here, the chip giant revealed that it expects an impact on Q4 shipments, due to a delay in the launch of a particular 5G flagship smartphone. Furthermore, Qualcomm’s chief financial officer, Akash Palkhiwala stated that a few of its 5G chips, which were slated to ship in September, have been delayed till the end of this year.

Intel recently announced another delay in its plans for launching its first 7nm chips. The chipmaker giant faced issues with the process nodes and had to delay the launch by 6 months, which has now caused the company to face a lawsuit.

Despite Intel’s revenue being up by 20 percent in its Q2 2020 financial report, the company had to delay its 7nm process by another 6 months. This is quite the news as its primary competitor, AMD, is already a year ahead in the same category. This also caused a sharp decline in Intel’s share prices while AMD saw a stock jump, getting ahead of its rival for the first time in 15 years.

Although the bad news didn’t end there as earlier this month, the Hagen Berman law firm put out a call to several Intel investors that have suffered heavily. According to a report from TechSpot, the law firm hinted at a possible class action lawsuit against the chipmaker, and also seek to start an investigation into an alleged security fraud as well.

Hagens Berman stated that on multiple occasions Intel assured of the 2021 launch of its 7nm chips and has misled its investors. This has led the company to invest in a contingency plan which will have Intel use 3rd party foundries, with chips hitting the market only by 2022.

At the moment, the law firm is investigating, whether the company has misrepresented and concealed manufacturing and performance issues regarding its 7nm chips. Furthermore, it is also trying to reach out to whistleblowers with sensitive information regarding the matter saying, “Under the new program, whistleblowers who provide original information may receive rewards totaling up to 30 percent of any successful recovery made by the SEC.”

According to a new report from Macotakara, the launch of the 5G iPhone 12 models may be delayed to November. In the report, “multiple Chinese suppliers” were cited and it was claimed that the iPhone 12 announcement will be delayed to the latter half of October due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. In other words, the 4G LTE versions of the iPhone 12 series will launch in mid October while the 5G variants will launch in November.

Arriving at the battery capacity leak, a new post on Twitter revealed the iPhone 12 Pro’s battery capacity. Reportedly, the iPhone 12 Pro will be powered by a 2,775mAh battery pack, which was allegedly discovered in South Korea’s SafetyKorea agency’s database. If true, then it would mean that the latest iPhone could have a battery capacity smaller than last year’s iPhone 11 Pro, which had a 3,046mAh battery.

While MediaTek has launched its own 5G chips, the company had yet to include support for high frequency mmWave bands. Previously, it was reported that MediaTek would launch its new chips with the newer and faster bandwidth in the second half of 2020, but it seems that it has now been delayed and will only be seen by the second half of 2021.

According to a new report, MediaTek has postponed the plan to launch 5G chips with the mmWave bands and will only start mass production of these chips in the second half of 2021. These new processors are likely to belong to the company’s current lineup of Dimensity chip, and would probably be a high end chipset. Furthermore, we can also expect improvements in performance as well, in terms of CPU and GPU, and not just networking.

With tensions rising between India and China, known firms like Apple supplier Foxconn and other foreign brands are having issues in their operations. The news arrives after multiple sources told Reuters regarding the delays are facing due to Chinese imports being held back by India.

According to Custom officers, shipments are being held back on Indian ports that have arrives from China. These shipments now require additional clearances, which is indicative of the rising friction between the two nations. For those unaware, the Indo-China borders have witnessed multiple military clashes and deaths of personnel as well. This has caused anti-Chinese sentiments to form within the Government and the citizens.

The Motorola Razr 2 may have been delayed. The second iteration of the foldable smartphone series from Motorola might not be seen until 2021. Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, shared this assessment on his Twitter handle. Of the current crop of upcoming folding phones, the Huawei Mate X is perhaps the most enticing and interesting of the bunch. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X simply looks much sleeker, and it’s also more robust looking than the Royole Flexpai. Thus, it makes sense that Huawei wants to ensure that image remains once the device actually launches. To that end, they’ve delayed the release of the Mate X to optimize it further before launch.

According to the company, the Huawei Mate X still needs some time in the oven. It’s highly likely they want to avoid another Samsung Galaxy Fold situation, which makes sense. The last thing the company wants to do is drag down the concept of foldable phones further, especially considering Huawei’s current situation and reputation. Any poor decisions could lead to some really bad results.

He Gang, head of Huawei’s mobile division, tells us that Huawei have invested heavily when it comes to the Huawei Mate X. They aren’t concerned with pushing the device out quickly, instead adopting a “it’s done when it’s done” approach to the issue. The main focus is to make sure the device meets consumer expectations, though that’s a pretty high hurdle to get over.

As of right now, the Huawei Mate X has already passed all required certifications to launch, so we’re mainly just waiting on Huawei to get it right. It’s good to see that Huawei are really taking their time with this device, don’t want to end up with folding phones as a dead concept just yet. It’d be a huge shame to have such an interesting concept go down the drain due to rushed development.
