The first-ever Dimensity series chipset by MediaTek is Dimensity 1000. But there is not a single smartphone in the world with this chip. Instead, we have got a device powered by Dimensity 1000L (OPPO Reno3 5G) and Dimensity 1000+ (iQOO Z1 5G) respectively. These two chips are toned-down and beefed-up models of the standard Dimensity 1000, which is yet to see the light of the day.

Further, the Taiwanese chipmaker continued to debut a number of Dimensity mid-range 5G chipsets such as Dimensty 800, Dimensity 820, and Dimensity 720. These chips power some of the cheapest 5G smartphones available in the Chinese market.

But as mentioned in the beginning, none of them is available outside China. However, we might soon see them powering smartphones sold in global markets. MediaTek itself confirmed in its Q2 2020 earning call.

We think the LG Velvet series handset spotted on Google Play Console with Dimensity 800 could be the first-ever MediaTek Dimensity 5G smartphone for international markets. That’s not all, we may also witness the launch of already available Chinese Dimensity handsets in global markets.

In terms of the mid-range list, with the release of multiple new machines equipped with mid-range SoCs, this month’s rankings have also changed, but they still haven’t challenged the number one OPPO Reno 3.

The OPPO Reno3 5G with a Dimensity 1000L chipset manages an average score of 405,159 points to occupy the top spot. The Kirin 820-powered Honor 30S burst into the scene to occupy the second spot, edging out the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G. The third position is occupied by another new entrant – Vivo S6 5G equipped with an Exynos 980 SoC.

The Redmi K30 5G with a Snapdragon 765G chipset is at the fourth spot while the Vivo X30 is now ranked at number 5. The sixth to tenth spots are occupied by Vivo Z6 (Snapdragon 765G), OPPO Reno 3 Pro (Snapdragon 765G), Honor 9X Pro (Kirin 810), Huawei Nova 6 SE (Kirin 810) and Honor Play 4T Pro (Kirin 810).

One important thing to note from the ranking is the gradual dominance of 5G smartphones. Apart from the bottom three Huawei models powered by the 4G Kirin 810 chipset, all other phones that make up the top 10 are 5G-enabled. This means in the next few months, we won’t only be having several flagship 5G phones but also 5G mid-rangers.

As an afterthought, I’m wondering why OEMs are still shunning the Dimensity 1000L despite its superb benchmark perform. Perhaps, benchmarks don’t sell phones, right?

A fresh leak has revealed that OnePlus has decided to go with a Qualcomm processor for its upcoming OnePlus Z smartphone and not a MediaTek processor as earlier reports have said.

The info was revealed by Max J. (@MaxJmb), the same leaker that reconfirmed that the OnePlus Z will launch in July. According to a tweet he shared today, the OnePlus Z is powered by a Snapdragon 765 processor with support for 5G.

Earlier leaks had said the OnePlus Z will have MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000/1000L processor under the hood but that seems to have changed. Could it have been that the info was incorrect? Maybe, maybe not.

It is possible that OnePlus originally decided to use one of MediaTek’s new 5G processors but changed its mind. Since the launch is still two months away, there is still enough time for such a major change to happen as long as mass production is yet to commence. However, the reason for changing from MediaTek to Qualcomm can be for a myriad of reasons.

Did Qualcomm offer OnePlus a better deal on the price of its Snapdragon 765 chipset? Did OnePlus, itself, decide to switch to a Snapdragon processor for reasons unknown to us? Is the Dimensity 1000 towing the same line as the ill-fated Helio X30 from a few years ago? We can come up with a lot more questions.

The Snapdragon 765 is a powerful mid-range processor but it still doesn’t match the Dimensity 1000L in terms of performance talk less of the Dimensity 1000. Nevertheless, we are sure there are lots of folks out there that are happy at the news that the OnePlus Z has a Snapdragon processor. Are you one of them? Let us know in the comment box.

The publication claims that it received the OnePlus Z leaked shot from the same source that it had provided it with hands-on shots of OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro. Still, it has advised readers to digest the leak with a pinch of salt.

The event will be held on May 7 between the hours of 14:30 and 15:30. The poster doesn’t reveal much but has a text that roughly translates to “5G for All”. However, details of what to expect have surfaced from the Chinese leaker that goes by Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

More Powerful versions of the Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 1000

In a Weibo post, he said in addition to the already announced Dimensity 1000L (MT6885z), the Dimensity 800 (MT6873v), and the Dimensity 1000 (MT6889) which is yet to appear in a phone; there are also versions of the Dimensity 1000 and Dimensity 800 with higher clockspeeds in production.

The Dimensity 800 has a clockspeed of 2.0GHz for its Cortex-A76 cores and Cortex-A55 cores. This new version may push the clockspeed of the performance cores to 2.2GHz or 2.3GHz.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 1000 has its Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz along with four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.2GHz. MediaTek may decide to increase the clockspeed of the performance cores or actually adopt a tri-cluster arrangement where one of the performance cores is separated and given a higher clockspeed.

These more powerful versions of the Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 1000 will most likely arrive with new names when they are announced.

Dimensity 2000

The leaker also revealed there is an entry-level processor called the MT6853 in production. However, the one you should be excited about is the Dimensity 2000 which should be its most powerful chipset ever. There are no details about the chipset but we are excited nonetheless.

The OPPO Reno3 5G powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor maintained its lead of this category with an average score of 409380 points. The second spot is retained by the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G ut the distance between the first and second-ranked model is more than 80,000 points, showing the prowess of the Dimensity 1000L. The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture in an octa-core arrangement. The GPU uses the G77 architecture and the SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband. The chipset equally supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

At the third spot is the Redmi K30 5G packing a Snapdragon 765G processor. OPPO’s latest Reno3 Pro 5G enters at the fourth spot and as the last 5G model in the midrange category.

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset propelled five different Huawei and Honor models into the list. The phones include the Honor 9X Pro, Huawei Nova 6 SE, Honor 20S, Honor 9X and the Huawei Nova 5, all occupying the fifth to ninth spots respectively.

Another MediaTek chipset, the Helio G90T makes the cut onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and with an average score of 289936 points.

The Huawei P30 also made its entrance, taking mobile photography to another level. In terms of cost-effective pricing, Redmi continued to blaze the trail but Vivo‘s iQOO join the trail. Realme also delivered some cost-effective smartphones this year.

Of all the features that made the headlines, 5G dominated. The new technology is expected to usher in a new vista in the mobile phone industry. It also played a key role in all the Systems-on-Chip we saw this year as OEMs strive not to be left behind. Here’s AnTuTu’s review of all the major mobile phone SoCs released in 2019. Their ratings are based on several criteria such as flagship performance, technology innovation, cost-effectiveness and others. Do not tat this rating is restricted to Android phone SoCs and doesn’t include Apple’s.

The major Android mobile phone SoCs include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, Huawei’s Kirin, MediaTek’s, and Samsung’s Exynos. The SoCs from these fabless chipmakers comes with several improvements such as high performance, high refresh rates, high pixels, and 5G. technology.

AnTuTu 2019 SoC Awards: Strongest performance – Snapdragon 855 Plus

Unlike previous years when only one flagship was launched, this year’s Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon 855 Plus with stronger GPU performance, which quickly became the flagship standard in the second half of 2019. With an average score of 480,000 (Antutu Evaluation V8), the Snapdragon 855 Plus emerged as the SoC with the best performance.

The Snapdragon 855 Plus is built using a 7nm process. The CPU and Snapdragon 855 are also based on the Kryo 485 architecture modified from the Cortex-A76 magic, but the main frequency has been increased from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz. The GPU uses Adreno 640, the frequency has been increased from 585MHz of Snapdragon 855 to 675MHz, and supports a series of technologies such as Vulkan 1.1 API, 10bit HDR, 4K HDR display (support external), H.265 specification and VP9 decoding.

Although the Snapdragon 855 Plus does not have a built-in 5G baseband, its performance is obvious to all.

Technology Innovation Award: Huawei Kirin 990 5G

This year’s Huawei Kirin SoC is undoubtedly the most spectacular. The latest Kirin 990 5G is the industry’s first integrated 5G baseband SoC, which in a sense surpasses the world’s top manufacturers.

The Kirin 990 5G is manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm + EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography process, integrating up to 10.3 billion transistors. It is the industry’s first mobile SoC to break the 10 billion mark in terms of transistors. The CPU part integrates two 2.86GHz Cortex-A76 cores, two 2.36GHz Cortex-A76 cores and four 1.95GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The GPU has been upgraded to a 16-core Mali-G76 MP16, which has 6 cores more than the Kirin 980. Baseband supports 2/3/4 / 5G networks, NSA / SA dual-mode, TDD / FDD full frequency bands, and full Netcom 5G.

Technology Innovation Award: Samsung Exynos 980

There is no doubt that the integration of 5G baseband is a recognized development trend of future manufacturers. Samsung Exynos 980 is a mid-end SoC with built-in 5G baseband and supporting dual-mode 5G.

The Exynos 980 is built on an 8nm process. It has two 2.2GHz Cortex-A77 cores and six 1.8GHz A55 cores. The GPU is Mali-G76 MP5. In terms of communication performance, the Exynos 980 can be the fastest in the sub-6GHz band with 5G network speed of up to 2.55Gbps, 4G speed of up to 1Gbps, and dual-mode parallel speed of up to 3.55Gbps.

EDITOR’S PICK: First Samples from the 108MP Mi Mix Alpha is here & we are not impressed!

Although Samsung Electronics disbanded the self-developed CPU team this year, this is not necessarily bad news, because this means that Samsung Exynos is returning to the arms of ARM again, which may further improve the power consumption of the SoC.

Technology Innovation Award: Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

At the Snapdragon Technology Summit in December, Qualcomm released the annual flagship Snapdragon 865, along with the Snapdragon 765 / 765G, and if you look closely at their characteristics, you will find that the two SoCs are integrated in process and baseband. It is excellent in many aspects and even surpasses the flagship Snapdragon 865.

As the Snapdragon 765 is not yet on the market but the Snapdragon 765G has already been utilised on a commercial smartphone – OPPO Reno 3 Pro. The SoC uses a 7nm EUV process, built-in eight-core Kryo 475 CPU, and a three-cluster architecture of 1 + 1 + 6, including a 2.4GHz super Large core, a 2.2GHz performance core, six 1.8GHz efficiency cores, GPU is Adreno 620, and the same architecture as the new flagship Snapdragon 865.

In terms of paper parameters, the Snapdragon 765G is the largest upgrade since the release of the Snapdragon 7 series. The GPU performance has increased significantly by 40% and the AI computing power has increased by 100%. It is straightforward to say that its performance is basically close to Qualcomm ’s Snapdragon 845.

Since this SoC is listed on the last day of this year, we are also included in this list. From its comprehensive performance, we can see that the Snapdragon 765G is likely to become the hottest match for mid-range 5G mobile phones next year.

Technological Innovation Award: Dimensity 1000L

MediaTek, which has been quiet for a while, came up with a brand new Dimensity series this year including its first 5G SoC – Dimensity 1000. OPPO first launched Dimensity 1000L at the end of the year onboard the Reno3 series. The Dimensity 1000L may be viewed as a lower version of the Dimensity 1000 but is equally an impressive SoC.

The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process, has built-in eight cores, and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture, while the GPU uses the G77 architecture. The SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband, and supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

Most cost-effective award: Huawei Kirin 810

In June this year, Huawei released the Kirin 810. The biggest change is that it no longer uses the Cambrian NPU instead, it adopts Huawei’s self-developed DaVinci architecture. At the same time, it uses a 7nm process, making Kirin the world’s first to have two 7nm SoCs.

The Kirin 810-powered Honor 9X si presently sold for as low as 1,199 yuan which makes it one of the most cost-effective SoC around.

The Kirin 810 is built using a 7nm process, built with two 2.27GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88GHz A55s. The GPU is upgraded to Mali-G52 for customization and supports Kirin Gaming + technology.

Most cost-effective award: Helio G90T

MediaTek changed its trend this year and successively launched Helio G90T, Dimensity 1000 and other mid-to-high-end SoCs. Among them, Helio G90T is positioned at the mid-range in the same league with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 series.

The chipset was first launched onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and that remains the only model with the SoC. In terms of pricing, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also sells for around 1,199 yuan as at press time. That is yet another dope offer as the device equally comes with a 64MP Sony camera sensor.

The Helio G90T is built with a 12nm process. The CPU uses the same Cortex-A76 architecture as the Kirin 810. It has two ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 small cores. The frequency is up to 2.05GHz. The GPU is equipped with ARM Mali-G76. 3EEMC4, clocked at 800MHz, and built-in dual-core APU, combined with CPU and GPU can provide 1TMACs AI computing power.

For 2020, we see 5G playing a more prominent role in the calibre of the flagship to midrange and budget SoCs that would be released.

Now that some users have gotten their hands on the phones, more details are surfacing. A Weibo user has shared the AnTuTu results of both phones and the results are surprising.

Prior to the release of the phones, Master Lu shared benchmark results of the two phones, pitting the Snapdragon 765G against the Dimensity 1000L. In that comparison, the Snapdragon 765G-powered Reno3 Pro 5G came out on top. For AnTuTu, the reverse is the case.

[envira-gallery id=”297366″]

The Reno3 5G is the winner with a total score of 337,669 points as against the Reno3 Pro 5G’s score of 320,822 points.

A breakdown of the score shows the Dimensity 1000L-powered Reno3 5G recorded a CPU score of 126,692 points while the Reno3 Pro 5G scores 102,230 points.

Just like in the Master Lu benchmark results, the Dimensity 1000L also grabs the higher GPU score for AnTuTu as well. It scored 99,250 points as against the Snapdragon 765G’s 93,977 points. However, the Reno3 Pro 5G is the winner in the memory and UX categories.

Both the Reno3 and Reno3 Pro 5G support dual-mode 5G networks. However, the latter is more expensive, has a curved display, and comes with more camera features.

Just like I mentioned yesterday, the Reno series officially has one of the shortest product cycles in the market this year, with the new Reno3 models replacing Reno2 models that were announced just a few months back. The third generation Reno3 models come with 5G, a large battery with fast charging, and a quad-camera setup and most of all, a slim and relatively lightweight body.

OPPO seems to have given priority to form factor for the new Reno3 models, which is a big shift from the bulky and heavy Reno 5G and Reno2 models. Both the models are relatively lightweight, weighing only around 180 grams and featuring 8mm bodies. In fact, the Pro version, even with the curved display, is slimmer and lighter than the standard Reno3.

Let’s take a closer look at both the devices in detail.

OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G Specifications

The OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G is the star product of today’s event, powered by the Snapdragon 765G octa-core processor. It is an important phone, for OPPO as well as Qualcomm, since its the first integrated 5G SoC from the chipmaker. Thanks to the integrated 5G chipset, the phone supports up to 3.7Gbps download speeds and 1.6Gbps upload speeds. The Reno3 Pro comes with Smart 5G that regulates the 5G connectivity to improve battery life by up to 30 percent. The phone features two storage options: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

REno3 360-degree antenna design

OPPO has employed a unique 360° surround antenna design that ensures the Reno3 models can smartly match different antenna groups to ensure consistent data speeds. So you don’t have to worry about the smartphone death grip that comes in between you and your streaming/ gaming experience. There’s also a special 5G + Wi-Fi 5GHz dual connectivity model that combines the two networks to boost your overall network speeds. OPPO claims this mode can increase download speeds by up to 28 percent!

The display is one of the highlights of the Reno3 Pro 5G. The phone comes with a flexible AMOLED display that’s curved on the two sides, similar to the Galaxy S10. On the top-left corner of the display, you’ll find a small punch-hole camera measuring 3.92mm in diameter, making it smaller than the S10’s punch hole. The 6.5-inch curved display also supports 90Hz refresh rate, joining the likes of the OnePlus 7T Pro with such high refresh rates.

The Reno3 Pro 5G also employs a three-dimensional cooling system with a double layer graphite sheet to ensure effective heat dissipation. The phone comes with an in-screen fingerprint module that measures just 0.26mm in size, which is a significant (nearly 90%) reduction as compared to a traditional 2.6mm module. OPPO adds that the fingerprint recognition area has increased by 5mm to 54mm.

OPPO Reno3 5G Specifications

OPPO Reno3 5G will be the cheaper option in the Reno3 series, featuring the new Dimensity 1000L 5G chipset. The phone supports SA/NSA dual-mode 5G networks and comes with a 6.4-inch FHD+ waterdrop display. Note that the Reno3 features a regular flat display instead of the curved one found on the ‘Pro’ model. The phone is slightly heavier than the ‘Pro’ version at 181 gram (vs 171gm) but it’s still relatively lighter than competitors.

The OPPO Reno3 5G comes with a slightly different setup than its more expensive sibling. The phone features a 64MP primary camera with an 8MP wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP Black & White sensor. So, you don’t get optical zoom on the Reno3 as it skips the telephoto lens. There’s a 32MP front-facing shooter just like the Pro model.

A recent report on Digitimes had revealed that the Taiwanese chip maker will be launching another 5G chip on Dec. 25. A fresh report on the same publication states that MediaTek is aiming to unveil mmWave 5G SoC solutions in the second half of 2020.

There is an incredible demand for wireless data bandwidth because of which cellular operators are aiming to capitalize on other frequency bands for deploying new 5G wireless technologies. To be specific, the frequency spectrum between 24 GHz and 300GHz that offer large bandwidths and faster data rates are dubbed as mmWave (millimeter wave technology). While mmWave bands up extend up to 300 GHz, the bands ranging between 24 GHz and 1000 GHz that can support up to 2 GHz bandwidths will be used for 5G. The below shown image by Accton.com shows the allocation of frequency bands for sub-6 GHz and mmWave.

At present, the industry uses 26 GHz, 28 GHz and 39 GHz frequency bands for mmWave. The 28 GHz and 39 GHz bands being used and tested. The 26GHz spectrum will be supported in Africa and Asia. The recently announced Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765/765G chipsets support sub-6 GHz and mmWave. The SD865 is equipped with X55 5G modem that can use of 200Mz of sub-6 and 800MHz of mmWave. On the other side, the SD765G/765 has the slower X52 5G modem that supports 100MHz of sub-6 and 400MHz of mmWave.

MediaTek will be announcing another sub-6 GHz 5G chip on Dec. 25. It will most likely be the Dimensity 1000L that has a model number of MT6885. Benchmark app, Master Lu, has released the benchmark results for both phones, giving us a chance to compare the two chipsets.

It is important to mention that other than the processors, the RAM of both phones benchmarked is different. The Reno3 has 12GB of RAM which TENAA doesn’t state but is listed on the JD pre-order page, while the Reno3 Pro has 8GB of RAM. There will also be a 12GB RAM version of the Reno3 Pro and it will be available with 128GB or 256GB of storage.

CPU

For the CPU score, the 2.3GHz Snapdragon 765G wins with a total of 134,320 points as against the 2.2GHz Dimensity 1000L’s 110,392 points. Where it surpasses MediaTek’s processor is in the Multi

GPU

The winner here is MediaTek as the Dimensity 1000L scores 104,188 points against the Snapdragon 765G’s (Adreno 620 GPU) 97,786 points.

Memory Performance

The Reno3 wins here again with 50,392 points, which is no surprise as it has 12GB RAM as against the Reno3 Pro’s 8GB RAM and 40,695 points.

Storage Performance

The winner here again is the Reno3 with 40,695 points. Its read speed 1015MB/s and its write speed is 219MB/s while the Reno3 5G has a read score of 589MB/s and a write speed of 236MB/s. The read speed of the Reno3 is almost twice that of the Pro version which is unusual.

Overall Score

The Snapdragon 765G-powered Reno3 Pro wins with 307,855 points while the Dimensity 1000L is not too far behind with a total score of 305,667 points.

Conclusion

The Snapdragon 765G is the more powerful processor but the Dimensity 1000L is no slouch either and we are most impressed with its GPU score. While these are just prototypes that have been benchmarked, we look forward to real-life comparisons of the final product.

The latest are live photos of the phone that reveal some of the phone’s specs.

The images were shared on Weibo by @Digital Chat Station and they show the system app, AIDA64 running on the phone. The Reno3 5G is shown to have a waterdrop notch, a blue power button, and a black frame.

The AIDA64 app confirms the phone is powered by MediaTek‘s MT6885 processor which will be officially known as the Dimensity 1000L. The second image shows the Dimensity 1000L has four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 4 unknown cores clocked at 2.2GHz.

[envira-gallery id=”295252″]

The Reno3’s TENAA listing said the SoC is clocked at 2.2GHz, so these unknown cores are the performance cores and should be the Cortex-A77. Also, the AnTuTu result already revealed the chipset has a Mali-G77 GPU

The phone in the image has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage just as the TENAA listing revealed but we won’t rule out OPPO announcing other variants in the future.

The Reno3 will have a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, a 64MP primary rear camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. There will also be a 32MP camera in front for selfies.

OPPO will ship it with a 4025mAh battery and ColorOS 7 based on Android 10. It will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Now, TENAA has published the full specification sheet of the non-pro model and we can’t wait for the phone to launch.

The Reno3 (PDCT00 and PDCM00) was issued its TENAA license on the 11th of December according to the info on the database. The phone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. We already know it has a waterdrop notch, thanks to press renders.

[envira-gallery id=”295172″]

Under the hood of the Reno3 is the Dimensity 1000L octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. TENAA says the phone runs Android 10, so it should ship with ColorOS 7.

OPPO is going with a quad-camera setup arranged vertically and placed on the left side of the rear. The primary camera is a 64MP sensor and it is paired with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is a 32MP sensor. The images below show the camera housing has a very noticeable protrusion.

The Reno3 has a fingerprint scanner and it is under the display. It packs a 3935mAh (4025mAh) battery capacity, the same as the Reno3 Pro. It will be interesting to see which phone has better battery life. The dimensions for the phone are 160.3 x 74.3 x 7.96 millimeters and the weight is 181 grams. The Reno3 Pro is thinner at 7.77 millimeters.

[envira-gallery id=”295175″]

The spec sheet says the Reno3 5G supports NSA and SA bands 41, 78, and 79. Of course, there is support for 2G, 3G, and 4G networks too. TENAA says the phone will be available in white, black, silver-red, and silver-blue. However, the images provided are of a pink-blue color gradient.

The Reno3 and Reno3 Pro will be announced on December 26 in China. While Redmi has taken the title of being the first manufacturer to announce a phone powered by the Snapdragon 765G, OPPO will be the first to announce a phone powered by the Dimensity 1000L.

The launch will be for the Reno3 and Reno3 Pro and both will be 5G mid-range phones. While OPPO has announced that the Reno3 Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G processor, it has not said anything about the chipset inside the Reno3. Now, we have official confirmation on the processor that will power the Reno3 as well as some other details, thanks to a page put up by OPPO.

According to the info on the page, the Reno3 will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L 5G processor. MediaTek is yet to announce the chipset which is also known as the MT6885.

Yesterday, the AnTuTu benchmark result of the Reno3 surfaced on the web and it revealed the device has an MT6885Z processor powering it. The benchmark result showed the processor has a Mali-G77 GPU. We presume it also has Cortex-A77 CPU cores like the Dimensity 1000 but at a lower clock speed.

The page also reveals the Reno3 has a thickness of 7.96 millimeters but does not say if it has the same 4025mAh battery capacity as the Reno3 Pro.

Based on the render we have seen, the Reno3 will have an AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. We also already know it will come with 64MP quad rear cameras and have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The page also says OPPO is running a sweepstakes and the prizes up for grabs include the Reno3, OPPO OO-Fresh Earphones, and OPPO MH13 wired earphones etc.

The handset has scored 75,354 and 54,128 points in the memory and UX tests of AnTuTu. The average benchmarking score recorded by the smartphone is 379,839. MediaTek is yet to announce the MT6885 chipset. The Chinese tipster who shared the above screenshot claims that the SoC will debut as Dimensity 1000L. Its a lower variant of 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G chipset that was announced last month.

The tipster also shared another screengrab of the Reno3 5G. The image reveals that the Reno3 PDCM00 phone has an f/1.8 aperture camera that can shoot images of 6912 x 9216 resolution. This indicates that the phone is fitted with a 64-megapixel main lens. Probably, it could be featuring a Samsung GW1 64-megapixel lens that is available on the OPPO K5 phone.

At the beginning of this month, the OPPO PCPM00 / PCPT00 smartphone was spotted with full specs on TENAA. At that time, the handset was speculated to debut as Reno3. Apparently, the PCPM00 / PCTM00 phone lacks support for 5G connectivity which suggests that it could be a different phone or a 4G only version of the Reno3.

Hopefully, the PDCM00 smartphone will soon appear on TENAA with full specifications before the Dec. 26 launch date. As far as Reno3 Pro is concerned, it has already appeared on TENAA with its entire specifications. The OPPO Reno3 and Reno3 Pro smartphones are now up for reservations in China. The pricing of these phones is currently under the wraps.
