Motorola is reportedly working on the Motorola Edge 40 Neo smartphone. A premature listing of the phone is available on the Amazon Italy website. While there is no official confirmation yet on the existence of the device from Motorola, the Amazon listing reveals that it will be released on Sept. 15.

The Edge 40 Neo will succeed the Motorola Edge 30 Neo, which was announced in September last year. In some markets, the same device is available with the Motorola Edge 30 Lite moniker. The Edge 30 Neo / Lite is a compact phone featuring a 6.28-inch display. As per the listing, the Edge 40 Neo will arrive with a bigger screen. Here is a look at the leaked specifications of the smartphone.

As per the listing, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo has a 6.55-inch P-OLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by the Dimensity 1050 chipset and 12 GB of RAM.

There is no information available about the front camera of the Edge 40 Neo. The listing states that its rear camera setup has a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel snapper, which appears to be an ultra-wide lens. The handset will pack a 5,000mAh battery that will offer 68W fast charging.

The Edge 40 Neo will come equipped with 256 GB of internal storage. It will run on Android 13 and offer other features, such as an IP68-rated dustproof and water-resistant chassis, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C.

Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Edge (2022) upper mid-range phone in the US. It has arrived as the successor to the Motorola Edge (2021). The Edge (2022) is the first-ever phone to feature the Dimensity 1050 chipset. The 6nm chip comprises two Cortex-A78 CPU cores working at 2.5GHz, six Cortex-A55 CPU cores ticking at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G610 MC3. The chipset carries support for mmWave 5G connectivity. Starting from the front, the Motorola Edge (2022) features a 6.6-inch OLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It supports 10-bit colours and HDR10+. Unlike the model before it, which had a fingerprint scanner on the side, the Edge (2022) has a sensor under the screen.

For shooting selfies, the Edge (2022) is fitted with a 32-megapixel front camera. Its back panel has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support. It is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that doubles up as a macro camera. The rear camera setup also includes a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The Dimensity 1050 SoC is supported by 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM. The device offers 128 GB / 256 GB of built-in storage, and it runs on Android 12 with My UX on top. It features a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W TurboPower charging as well as 15W wireless charging.

The Edge (2022) offers other features, such as dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a USB-C port, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC. It has a physical SIM slot and one e-SIM. The device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports Motorola’s Ready For feature, which allows users to have a PC-like experience by connecting to a bigger display. The device measures 160.86 x 74.24 x 7.99 and weighs 170 grams. Lastly, it comes with an IP52-certified chassis.

Motorola Edge (2022) price and availability  

The Motorola Edge 2022 has arrived at a limited-time price of $498 in the US. It will be sold first through T-Mobile in the coming weeks, and later it will be released through Verizon, AT&T, Spectrum Mobile, US Cellular, and Visible. The unlocked Edge (2022) will be sold through Motorola’s website, Amazon, and Best Buy with a price tag of $499 for a limited period. After the end of the promotion period, it will be available for $599. It comes in the Mineral Gray color only.

Motorola has a couple of Edge-branded phones waiting to go official in the global market. One of them is the Motorola Edge 2022. In June, 91mobiles teamed up with reliable tipster OnLeaks to share the CAD renders of the Edge 2022. The leak also revealed that it will arrive with key specifications like a P-OLED display, a new Dimensity chip, a big battery, and 50-megapixel triple rear cameras. Now, the tipster has collaborated with Pricebaba to leak the official press renders of the smartphone.

The leaked press renders of the Motorola Edge 2022 show that its design is more or less similar to the Motorola Edge 30. A microphone is available on the top edge of the device, whereas its bottom edge has a SIM slot, a USB-C port, another microphone, and a speaker grille. The left side of the device is barren, while its opposite side has a volume rocker and a power button.

The Motorola Edge 2022 will arrive with a 6.5-inch P-OLED display, which offers an FHD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is reportedly powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset and a 6,000mAh battery. It is expected to offer 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of native storage.

On the front, it will feature a 32-megapixel selfie snapper. Its back panel will have an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (depth) triple camera unit.

Readers should note that the Edge 2022 may not be the final moniker of the device. Previous reports have claimed that it will launch in this quarter (Q3 2022) in the global market. At present, there is no information on the price of the device.

Motorola is reportedly working on the Edge 30 Ultra, which may debut as the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The flagship phone is expected to debut first in China before landing in global markets. The Lenovo-owned brand is also said to be working on a next-generation Edge series phone, which is tentatively named as the Motorola Edge (2022). A listing on Geekbench (via) shows that the device will have the latest Dimensity chipset.

The Geekbench listing reveals that the Motorola Edge (2022) is powered by an octa-core chipset that has 2 x CPU cores ticking at 2.50GHz and 6 x CPU cores working at 2.0GHz. It is coupled with Mali-G610 GPU. These findings are a good hint that the Edge (2022) is driven by the Dimensity 1050, which was announced by Motorola last month.

The Geekbench listing further reveals that the device is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and Android 12 OS. It scored 745 points in the single-core test and 2142 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 5.
