Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: Benchmarks

Geekbench 6:

Snapdragon 782G

Single-core: 1122

Multi-core: 2831

Dimensity 7200

Single-core: 1190

Multi-core: 2681

AnTuTu 10:

Snapdragon 782G

CPU: 221811

GPU: 164639

Memory: 144881

UX: 145647

Total score: 676978

Dimensity 7200

CPU: 240090

GPU: 176074

Memory: 126934

UX: 185436

Total score: 728534

Both Snapdragon 782G and Dimensity 7200 have similar Geekbench results. However, the AnTuTu 10 scores have some margin, driven by the UX score. This means that the Dimensity 7200-powered phones might feel smoother and more responsive. While benchmarking results are helpful indicators, real-world performance can vary due to software optimisations and other factors.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: CPU & GPU

Although both Snapdragon 782G and Dimensity 7200 are octa-core chipsets, they have different cores and arrangements. For instance, the Snapdragon chip has a (1+3+4) core architecture, whereas the Dimensity chip goes with a (2+6) configuration.

The Snapdragon 782G chip has a Cortex-A78 prime core clocked at 2.7 GHz for handling demanding tasks like gaming. It has three more Cortex-A78 performance cores but clocked at 2.4 GHz, slightly lower than the prime core. The remaining are Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores clocked at 1.9 GHz.

Inside the Dimensity 7200 SoC, we have two Cortex-A715 high-performance cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, and the remaining six are Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

The Snapdragon 782G chip will likely offer better single-core performance and handle high-processing tasks better than Dimensity 7200. However, the Dimensity chip is more battery efficient because of more power-efficient cores and a smaller nanometer (nm) process.

As for the graphics, the Adreno 642 (in Snapdragon 782G) performs better than the Mali-G610 MC4 (in Dimensity 7200) in demanding games, despite having a lower GPU frequency of 700 MHz (vs 1130 MHz of Mali-G610 MC4). However, the difference may not be significant in most games.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: NPU

Both chipsets have NPUs to handle AI tasks. The Snapdragon 782G has a Hexagon 770 NPU that can deliver up to 12 trillion operations per second (TOPs) related to AI tasks. This can result in better AI-based noise suppression, AI voice assistant, low-power AI audio processing, and more.

The Dimensity 7200, on the other hand, has the MediaTek APU 650. Although not much has been revealed about this NPU, the official website mentions it efficiently runs AI tasks and AI-fusion processing. The NPU can enhance visuals, improve power efficiency and deliver upgraded performance.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: Multimedia

The Snapdragon chip has Qualcomm Spectra ISP, featuring 14-bit triple ISPs. This means the chip can capture simultaneously from three cameras, with swift processing up to 2 gigapixels per second. The chip supports up to 200MP photo capture (the same as Dimensity chipset) and up to 64MP photo capture (with MFNR, ZSL at 30 FPS).

Both chips can take 4K videos at 30 FPS, but the Snapdragon chip can also take up to 720p videos at 240 FPS. So, both chips have decent camera capabilities, but the one with a higher-quality lens will stand out.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: Display

Both Snapdragon 782G and Dimensity 7200 chips max out at Full HD+ resolution with HDR10+ and up to 144Hz refresh rate support. The latter also supports AI SDR-to-HDR video playback that intelligently adds HDR visuals directly into streams.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: Connectivity

Both chips have a 5G modem — Snapdragon X53 in the Snapdragon 782G and 3GPP Release-16 in the Dimensity 7200 — offering all the necessary connectivity features, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a navigation system.

While the two chips offer all necessary connectivity features, the Dimensity chip has a slight edge. It offers a newer Bluetooth v5.3 technology (vs Bluetooth v5.2 in Snapdragon 782G) and an improved Wi-Fi 6E (vs Wi-Fi 6 in Snapdragon 782G). So, you can expect better connectivity and download/upload speeds with Dimensity 7200-powered phones and tablets.

Snapdragon 782G vs Dimensity 7200: Which is Better?

While both Snapdragon 782G and Dimensity 7200 chips target the same user segment, picking one really depends on your needs. In my opinion, the Snapdragon 782G will do a better job at gaming and handling other heavy-processing tasks, while the Dimensity 7200 is a power-efficient chip with better connectivity features.

Both chips are good enough to handle day-to-day tasks. So, based on your priorities, you can pick the suitable one for your next mid-range smartphone.

Popular Chinese tipsters like Panda is Bald and Digital Chat Station have claimed that the Snapdragon 778G (or 782G) and Dimensity 8200 chipsets, respectively, power the Vivo S17 and Vivo S17 Pro.

The V2285A model was recently spotted at Geekbench. The listing revealed that it is powered by the Dimensity 7200, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 13 OS. However, while the device is expected to debut as the Vivo S17e, it appears that it was incorrectly thought to be the S17 Pro. As mentioned above, the S17 Pro is expected to feature the Dimensity 8200. Hence, it is likely that the V2285A featuring the D7200 chip will most likely be dubbed the Vivo S17e when it arrives in the Chinese market.

It is believed that the Vivo S17e will arrive with an AMOLED screen with curved edges and an under-display fingerprint scanner. It will have a color changing rear panel. The S17e is expected to arrive with 12 GB of RAM. The primary camera of the device is likely to support optical image stabilization (OIS). The other details of the smartphone are yet to be revealed.

Vivo is apparently planning to launch the new Vivo S17 series of smartphone in the Chinese market soon. But ahead of the official launch, the S17e model was spotted on GeekBench, which revealed some of its key specs and synthetic benchmark performance. So let’s have a look.

The upcoming device from the Chinese smartphone maker was first spotted on the popular benchmarking platform by 91Mobiles. Looking at the online listing, we can tell that the Vivo S17e carries the model number V2285A. Furthermore, it managed to score 873 points in the single core test and 2,350 points in the multi core test. The device managed to achieve this score with an octa core processor that has a max clock speed of 2.8GHz and features Mali G610 MC4 GPU.

This means that the chipset is likely a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. The benchmarking platform also revealed that this chip will be paired with at least one model with 8GB of RAM. Lastly, the GeekBench sighting also revealed that the company’s upcoming handset will run on Android 13 OS based FunTouchOS 13 out of the box. Unfortunately, this is all the information revealed on the platform. Although based on what we know so far, we can expect it to sport a tall 6.7 inch AMOLED display that offers 120Hz refresh rate.

This screen will also house an under display fingerprint scanner. While its storage configurations are still unclear, it will likely arrive in a 128GB and 256GB of internal storage. Other key specs include, a 64 megapixel selfie camera, 64 megapixel primary rear sensor, 4,500mAh battery pack, and 80W fast charging support.

As per the report, the Vivo V27 5G will debut as the world’s first phone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200, which hasn’t gone official yet. The V27 Pro 5G is said to be equipped with the Dimensity 8200 SoC, which also powers the China-exclusive Vivo S16 Pro. Hence, there is a possibility that the S16 Pro will be rebadged as the Vivo V27 Pro 5G in markets outside of China.

The S16 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz curved-edge display, a 50-megapixel front camera with dual-LED flash, and a 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. The D8200-powered phone will be equipped with a 4,600mAh battery with 66W fast charging. The device is also equipped with Android 13 OS and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo V27 and V27 Pro will arrive in two shades, such as blue (color changing back) and black. Both phones will be sold via Flipkart, Vivo’s online shop, and offline stores in India.
