<h3>AnTuTu score</h3>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1000" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score.png?x44794" alt="Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 vs Dimensity 9400 Plus - AnTuTu score" class="wp-image-738538" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score.png 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-300x240.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-768x614.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-696x557.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Snapdragon-8-Gen-5-vs-Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-525x420.png 525w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 achieves about a 4% higher AnTuTu score than the Dimensity 9400 Plus. But this doesn’t offer much clarity unless you look at the breakdown of the total AnTuTu score.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#f2f2f2"><tbody><tr><td></td><td><strong>Snapdragon 8 Gen 5</strong></td><td><strong><strong>Dimensity 9400 Plus</strong></strong></td></tr><tr><td>AnTuTu score</td><td><strong>2,961,236</strong></td><td>2,832,547</td></tr><tr><td>CPU</td><td><strong>914,878</strong></td><td>853,898</td></tr><tr><td>GPU</td><td>974,402</td><td><strong>1,012,010</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Memory</td><td><strong>382,729</strong></td><td>377,443</td></tr><tr><td>UX</td><td><strong>689,228</strong></td><td>589,197</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>The Snapdragon chip still maintain an edge over the Dimensity 9400+ in CPU performance with a 7% higher score, but the GPU score favors the Dimensity chip, which gets about a 4% higher score.</p>

<p>Looking at the benchmark scores, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 feels like a more performance-friendly option, but that alone doesn&#8217;t tell the complete picture. One should also consider other key metrics, such as camera capabilities and connectivity upgrades, to make an informed decision.</p>

<h2>Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 vs Dimensity 9400 Plus: Key differences</h2>

<h3>CPU, GPU, &amp; NPU</h3>

<p>Both chipsets feature an all-big-core CPU design, but differ notably in CPU clusters and peak performance. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 8 Gen 5</a> utilizes Qualcomm’s custom-designed Oryon CPU, featuring a ‘2+6’ configuration. This includes two prime cores and six performance cores.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-9400-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dimensity 9400 Plus</a> features a tiered ‘1+3+4’ CPU configuration, consisting of one Cortex-X925 prime core, three Cortex-X4 performance cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. The CPU has a peak frequency of 3.73 GHz, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 reaches 3.8 GHz. The latter also excels in higher speeds on secondary scores.</p>

<p>For gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 features an Adreno 829 GPU with a full suite of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including Snapdragon Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 and Qualcomm FPS 3.0, further optimizing game performance and power efficiency.</p>

<h3>Connectivity</h3>

<p>While both chipsets offer cutting-edge connectivity features, there are several key differences worth paying attention to. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave bands, but the Dimensity 9400 Plus focuses primarily on sub-6GHz. The official product page doesn’t mention mmWave support.</p>

<p>The Snapdragon chip also has an edge in peak download speed, supporting up to 10Gbps, while the Dimensity 9400 Plus can reach up to 7Gbps on a 5G connection. On Wi-Fi connection, though, the Dimensity chip offer a higher peak speed of 7.3Gbps (vs. 5.8Gbps on the 8 Gen 5).</p>

<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 natively integrates Ultra Wideband (UWB) along with AI-powered proximity solutions to help you find lost items. It also integrates many features to improve the connectivity stability and power efficiency. The Dimensity chip also includes many connectivity enhancements, including Triple Band Triple Concurrency and phone-to-phone Bluetooth connections up to 10km.</p>

<p>On Geekbench, the Dimensity 9400 Plus delivers great numbers — 2,945 in single-core and 9,184 in multi-core — making it one of the most powerful smartphone chips.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 posts 2,185 in single-core and 6,735 in multi-core, which are strong results on their own, but fall notably short of what the Dimensity 9400 Plus brings to the table. That&#8217;s around a 35% jump in both single-core and multi-core performance for MediaTek&#8217;s flagship.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><tbody><tr><td></td><td><strong>Dimensity 9400+</strong></td><td><strong>Snapdragon 8 Gen 3</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Single core</td><td>2,945</td><td>2,185</td></tr><tr><td>Multi core</td><td>9,184</td><td>6,735</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<h2>Dimensity 9400 Plus vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 &#8211; Key differences that matter</h2>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Dimensity 9400 Plus AnTuTu score" class="wp-image-691382" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-AnTuTu-score.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>On AnTuTu v10, the Dimensity 9400 Plus scores over 2.9 million overall points. As for the breakdown, the CPU gets 625K points, the GPU gets 1.3 million points, the memory gets 509K points, and the UX gets 459K points.</p>

<p>For comparison, the Dimensity 9400-powered Oppo Find X8 has an overall AnTuTu score of around 2.7 million. If you look at the two AnTuTu scores, there isn’t a significant jump for the newer chip.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><tbody><tr><td></td><td><strong>Dimensity 9400+</strong></td><td><strong>Dimensity 9400</strong></td></tr><tr><td>AnTuTu score</td><td>2,907,358</td><td>2,754,825</td></tr><tr><td>CPU</td><td>625,811</td><td>622,149</td></tr><tr><td>GPU</td><td>1,312,632</td><td>1,220,751</td></tr><tr><td>Memory</td><td>509,570</td><td>489,110</td></tr><tr><td>UX</td><td>459,344</td><td>422,815</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<h3>Dimensity 9400 Plus Geekbench score</h3>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Dimensity 9400 Plus Geekbench score" class="wp-image-691383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Dimensity-9400-Plus-Geekbench-score.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>On Geekbench 6, the Dimensity 9400 Plus scores 2,945 single-core points and 9,184 multi-core points. Again, it’s not a significant upgrade over the Dimensity 9400, which has 2,904 single-core and 8,812 multi-core points.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-background" style="background-color:#e8e9ea"><tbody><tr><td></td><td><strong>Dimensity 9400+</strong></td><td><strong>Dimensity 9400</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Single core</td><td>2,945</td><td>2,904</td></tr><tr><td>Multi core</td><td>9,184</td><td>8,812</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<h3>MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus &#8211; key details to understand</h3>

<p>The Dimensity 9400+ isn’t a big upgrade over the Dimensity 9400. It still utilizes the same set of CPU cores (1 x Cortex-X925, 3 x Cortex-X4, and 4 x Cortex-A720), with the only difference being a slight increase in the CPU speed for the large core. There is no change in the instruction set (ARMv9.2-A) and manufacturing node (TSMC’s 4nm).</p>

<p>The GPU doesn’t bring any upgrades at all — still, a Mali-G9125 Immortalis MP12 based on ARM’s 5th-generation GPU architecture. While not a major one, improvements have been made to the MediaTek Frame Rate Converter feature. The new version can offer double the effective FPS in popular titles while simultaneously enhancing power efficiency by up to 40%.</p>

<p>Since agentic AI is everywhere, MediaTek certainly wouldn’t miss out on that, as the Dimensity 9400+ brings a 20% faster agentic AI performance over its predecessor with speculative Decoding (SpD+). The chip brings full support for the DeepSeek-R1-Distill (1.5B/7B/8B) model with on-device processing.</p>

<p>Connectivity isn’t receiving any significant upgrades, except that the newer Dimensity 9400+ chip extends phone-to-phone Bluetooth connections up to 10km, an increase from 1.5km on the Dimensity 9400. Everything else remains unchanged, which means it also features Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 7 (peak speed 7.3Gbps), and 3GPP Release-17 5G modem.</p>

<p>Here’s the spec sheet for additional details:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table is-style-regular" style="font-size:13px"><table class="has-white-color has-black-background-color has-text-color has-background"><thead><tr><th>Dimensity 9400</th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Announced</strong></td><td>April 2025</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Process node</strong></td><td>3nm (TSMC)</td></tr><tr><td><strong>CPU</strong></td><td>1 x Cortex-X925 — 3.73GHz<br>3 x Cortex-X4 — 3.3GHz<br>4 x Cortex-A720 — 2.4GHz</td></tr><tr><td><strong>GPU</strong></td><td>Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12<br>MediaTek HyperEngine Gaming<br>Ray tracing support</td></tr><tr><td><strong>NPU</strong></td><td>MediaTek NPU 890</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Camera</strong></td><td>MediaTek Imagiq 1090 ISP<br>Up to 320MP single camera<br>Up to 8K/60fp video recording<br>Features: Gen-AI Telephoto, Full range HDR zoom, real-time AI segmentation in video<br></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Memory</strong></td><td>LPDDR5X, 10667Mbps</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Storage</strong></td><td>UFS 4 + MCQ</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Connectivity</strong></td><td>3GPP Release-17 5G modem<br>Download: 7.3Gbps (max)<br>Wi-Fi 7<br>Bluetooth 6.0</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>
