The smartphone now sits atop the rankings of the DisplayMate smartphone display. It has taken the top position from the iPhone 13 Pro Max as the smartphone with the best display.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-483920" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro.jpg?x10805" alt="Iphone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Iphone-14-Pro-Max-iPhone-14-Pro-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The iPhone 14 Pro Max obtained an overall A+ rating in tests, underscoring the tremendous display of the Apple 2022 flagship. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has a peak brightness of 2,300 nits and an infinite contrast ratio. Although Apple specifies a peak brightness rating of 2,000 nits for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the tests revealed 2,300 nits giving it the lowest screen reflectance recorded by DisplayMate (4.5%).</p>
<p>The tests also revealed the highest contrast rating in ambient light. There are a few components of the tests that resulted in near-perfect scores. These components include color accuracy on white, absolute color accuracy, image contrast accuracy, intensity scale, and peak luminance.</p>
<p>The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models have displays produced by Samsung hence the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may also have a stellar DisplayMate performance or even outshine the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Nonetheless, the Apple flagship continues to garner awards and plaudits for its innovative features.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lu-weibing">Lu Weibing</a>, Partner at Xiaomi Group, President of Xiaomi China and International, and General Manager of the Redmi brand took to Weibo to announce that Redmi Note 11T Pro Plus has passed DisplayMate A+ screen certification and it is in fact the first <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lcd/">LCD</a> smartphone to do so. Weibing also revealed that Redmi Note 11T Pro Plus has also broken 14 other display records.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-461510" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/photo6068962345037704994.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi Note 11T Pro+ displaymate A+" width="568" height="581" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/photo6068962345037704994.jpg 568w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/photo6068962345037704994-293x300.jpg 293w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/photo6068962345037704994-356x364.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/photo6068962345037704994-411x420.jpg 411w" sizes="(max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px" /></p>
<p>For the unversed, DisplayMate tests and evaluates various types of displays to determine what makes a display good or bad. Getting an A+ rating from DisplayMate is considered a big deal in the smartphone industry.</p>
<p>According to Lu Weibing, the smartphone features a 6.6-inch customized LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a customized 20.5:9 screen ratio that offers immersive and crisp picture quality. The display panel of the smartphone also has full DC dimming meaning it can replace quick flashes on your display with constant illumination.</p>
<p>In addition to that, the display also offers eye protection with the help of an anti-blue light filter. The LCD on Note 11T Pro + is highly adjustable and comes with Ambient color temperature sensing along with Dolby Vision certification.</p>
<p>As per Weibing, the smartphone will take the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lcd">LCD</a> display to a new level and will “revive the LCD glory”. The upcoming device has been nicknamed &#8220;little performance King Kong&#8221; which shows that folks at Xiaomi are really confident about the smartphone.</p>
<p>Other notable features of the smartphone are <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-8100">Dimensity 8100</a> processor, 5000mAh battery, and 120W fast charging. The device is expected to have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which might go up all the way to 512GB. In terms of software, the device will run <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-13/">MIUI 13</a> based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-12/">Android 12</a> out of the box.</p>

<p>Today, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lei-jun">Lei Jun</a>, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xiaomi, has shared a teaser poster on his Weibo account which reveals that the display of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 has been certified with A+ ratings by DisplayMate.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-432311 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi 12 DisplayMate A+ Ratings" width="1080" height="1440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate-225x300.png 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate-768x1024.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate-696x928.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate-1068x1424.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Xiaomi-12-DisplayMate-315x420.png 315w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>Further, he adds that the smartphone has also created 15 new screen-related records for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/displaymate">DisplayMate</a> but more details about that remain unknown.</p>
<p>Lei Jun has revealed that the Xiaomi 12 uses a high-precision <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amoled">AMOLED display</a> which takes into account delicate display and endurance experience, <span class="accentTextColor">supports 16,000-level screen brightness adjustment</span>, and has a more robust <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/23/cornings-toughest-gorilla-glass-victus-announced-may-feature-on-the-galaxy-note-20/">Corning Gorilla Glass Victus</a> for protection.</p>
<p>Coming to the specifications, both the upcoming smartphones are expected to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Recently, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/22/xiaomi-12-pro-geekbech-leak/">in a leaked benchmark test</a> by Geekbench, the Pro variant of flagship scored 1246 in the single-core tests and 3903 in the multi-core tests.</p>
<p>The smartphones are expected to come pre-installed with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui-13">MIUI 13</a> custom user interface based on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-12">Android 12</a> operating system, which is also set to go official along with the latest flagship smartphones on 28th December.</p>
<p>If the reports are to be believed, then Xiaomi will be launching more than two models in the Xiaomi 12 lineup but it remains to be seen if all the models go official next week or not.</p>

The phone has already become quite popular and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/18/apple-iphone-13-pro-pre-order-shipment-delay/">shipment dates have not been pushed</a> to late October.</p>
<p>The reason for the popularity of the new iPhone models is the top-notch offering, not just for the performance but also the display panel. DisplayMate <a href="https://www.displaymate.com/iPhone_13Pro_ShootOut_1M.htm">has now awarded</a> the iPhone 13 Pro Mac as the &#8220;Bst Smartphone Display Award&#8221; with the highest-ever display performance grade of A+.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-415887 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display.jpeg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max Display" width="1600" height="947" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display.jpeg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-300x178.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-768x455.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-1024x606.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-696x412.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-1068x632.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-iPhone-13-Pro-Max-Display-710x420.jpeg 710w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>This time, the display panel of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/14/apples-iphone-13-pro-and-pro-max-launch-with-120hz-displays-upgraded-cameras-and-boosted-battery-life/">iPhone 13 Pro series</a> models features a new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, which basically means that it comes with support for variable refresh rates between 10Hz and 120Hz, depending on the type of content being displayed on the screen.</p>
<p>It also offers the highest ever brightness for smartphones with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED panels</a>, says the report from DisplayMate. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is said to have a peak brightness of 1,000 nits for typical content and 1,200 nits for HDR content. It also set records for the highest absolute color accuracy, highest contrast ratio, lowest screen reflectance, and more.</p>
<p>For the uninitiated, South Korean tech giant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is exclusively supplying the LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 13 Pro Max model so far. But if the reports are to be believed, then LG is also expected to start supplying LTPO OLED screens next year.</p>
<p>The usage of LTPO technology would result in a more power-efficient backplane, which is responsible for turning individual pixels on and off on the display, allowing for a 120Hz refresh rate without a significant impact on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/battery">battery life</a>.</p>

The high-end model launched by the company is the iPhone 12 Pro Max and it apparently has the best smartphone display so far.</p>
<p>DisplayMate has <a href="https://www.displaymate.com/iPhone_12Pro_ShootOut_1P.htm">published its review</a> of the iPhone 12 Pro Max display and has ranked it with the highest-ever Display Performance Grade of A+. It has also bestowed it with the &#8220;Best Smartphone Display&#8221; award.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-348930 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 12" width="980" height="551" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12.jpg 980w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Apple-iPhone-12-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /></p>
<p>Apart from that, what&#8217;s impressive is that the smartphone managed to hit a milestone by having 11 instances of breaking a record or matching an existing one. For comparison, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-11-pro/">iPhone 11 Pro</a> launched last year matched or set nine performance records for the screen.</p>
<p>Here is a list of smartphone display record set by the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.</p>
<ul>
<li>Highest: Absolute Color Accuracy (0.9 JNCD)  –  Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.</li>
<li>Highest: Image Contrast Accuracy and Intensity Scale Accuracy  (2.19 Gamma) &#8211; Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.</li>
<li>Smallest: Shift in Color Accuracy and Intensity Scale with the Image Content APL (0.2 JNCD) &#8211; Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.</li>
<li>Smallest: Shift in Image Contrast and Intensity Scale with the Image Content APL (0.00 Gamma) &#8211; Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.</li>
<li>Smallest: Change in Peak Luminance with the Image Content Average Picture Level APL (1 percent) &#8211; Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.</li>

<p>However, there&#8217;s one aspect where the display of the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks behind the competition is the refresh rate. While other companies have adopted a 90Hz, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/120hz">120Hz</a>, and even 144Hz refresh rate, this phone comes with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p>On this matter, DisplayMate says that it should be fine for most applications because of the very fast Response Time of the OLED display, and the very fast CPU and GPU processors on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.</p>
<p>To summarise the phone&#8217;s display specifications, the iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR screen that offers 2778 x 1284 pixels screen resolution, 1200 nits peak brightness, 458ppi pixel density, and 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.</p>

In a typical OnePlus fashion, the company has already revealed some of the key features of the upcoming device.</p>
<p>Now, ahead of the phone&#8217;s launch, DisplayMate has announced that the OnePlus 8 series has managed to earn the highest A+ rating as well as the Best Smartphone Display Award. Last year, the OnePlus 7 Pro <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/29/oneplus-7-pro-display-mates-highest-rate/">also received A+ ratings</a> from DisplayMate and the company is now aiming to outdo itself.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-314150 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/OnePlus-8-Pro-Ultramarine-Blue.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus 8 Pro Ultramarine Blue" width="660" height="510" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/OnePlus-8-Pro-Ultramarine-Blue.png 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/OnePlus-8-Pro-Ultramarine-Blue-300x232.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/OnePlus-8-Pro-Ultramarine-Blue-544x420.png 544w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>The report adds that the display on the upcoming lineup &#8220;sets or matches more than 10 Smartphone Display Performance Records in virtually all key categories for the best displays on the market, including color accuracy, image contrast, display brightness, and screen reflection, with 4 categories marked Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect.&#8221;</p>
<p>OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has already confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will come with AMOLED display panels from Samsung. It will offer 120Hz refresh rate, and will also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/02/oneplus-ceo-explains-memc-technology-on-the-oneplus-8-and-reveals-supported-apps/">come with motion estimate and motion compensation</a> (MEMC) technology for smooth video playback and 10-bit color gamut.</p>

<p>A report from <em>PCMag</em> claims that OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will have two main user-selectable color modes — Vivid and Natural. While Vivid mode has a wider color gamut and high image contrast, the Natural mode accurately represents either the digital cinema DCI-P3 color space or the older sRGB color space.</p>
<p>The OnePlus 8 Pro has a brighter display than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra/">Galaxy S20 Ultra</a> at 50 percent average picture level (APL) and the max brightness level of the display can reach 1009 nits at 50 percent APL, which is slightly higher than the Galaxy S20 Ultra&#8217;s 995 nits.</p>
<p>While the company has not confirmed all the specifications, leak indicates that the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 SoC, 12GB RAM, 4,510mAh battery, Warp Charge 30T support along with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. To know for sure, we&#8217;ll have to wait for the official launch event on 14th April.</p>

This effectively knocks off the Galaxy Note 8 which was announced about two months ago with that title. Apart from the new title, the iPhone X also got an A+ grade for the build quality. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iPhone-x-24.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-156140" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iPhone-x-24.jpg?x10805" alt="iPhone-x" width="731" height="487" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iPhone-x-24.jpg 950w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iPhone-x-24-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/iPhone-x-24-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px" /></a></p>
<p>The iPhone X packs an OLED display that was built by Samsung Displays and they get the credit for the awesome A+ grade but unfortunately, this isn&#8217;t on a Samsung model. DisplayMate&#8217;s extensive analysis of the iPhone X display shows that it sets OLED display record for having the highest full-screen brightness (634 nits), lowest screen resistance of 4.5%, the smallest brightness variations from different viewing angles and several others. The iPhone X perhaps trumps the Galaxy Note 8 as a result of Apple&#8217;s impressive precision colour calibration on the flagship iPhone X.</p>

<p>The iPhone X keeps u with the trend of 2017 by packing a 5.8-inch OLED display with a taller height-to-width aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a bezel-less display. The display has  2.5K Higher Resolution Full HD+ with a resolution power of 1125 x 2436 pixels with a pixel density of 458 ppi.</p>
