DJI Launches an Exciting 128GB Package for the Action 2 Camera with a Whole Lot of Accessories

DJI has expanded storage options for its popular Action 2 camera, offering a new 128GB package alongside the existing 32GB option. This triples the storage capacity, catering to users who require longer recording times or capture high-resolution footage.

The DJI Action 2 boasts an innovative magnetic design

The 128GB package comes in two variants: the Battery Life Package and the Dual-Screen Package, both priced at 1,799 yuan (approximately $270 USD). The former includes the main camera with 128GB storage, a battery life module, and various mounting accessories, while the latter adds a front screen expansion module for convenient monitoring and control.

The DJI Action 2 boasts an innovative magnetic design, allowing for quick switching between camera modes and accessories. It delivers flagship performance with 4K/120fps video recording, 155° ultra-wide-angle shooting, and HorizonSteady horizon stabilization. A variety of accessories, including a front screen expansion module, battery life module, magnetic pendant, and magnetic headband, allow for handheld, wearable, or fixed-position shooting. The camera is also compatible with DJI Mic, a wireless microphone system that enhances audio recording quality.

The DJI Action 2’s main camera offers a maximum battery life of 70 minutes when recording at 1080p/30fps in power saving mode. This can be extended to 160 minutes with the front screen module and 180 minutes with the battery life module. The main camera is water resistant up to 10 meters, but waterproof cases are available for deeper submersion. Additionally, the camera supports microSD cards up to 256GB, SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Speed Grade 1 or 3.

Choosing between the two 128GB packages depends on individual needs. The Dual-Screen Package prioritizes ease of use and control with the added front screen, while the Battery Life Package is a more affordable option for those needing extended recording times and the flexibility of various mounting options.

DJI offers a wide range of optional accessories to further enhance the Action 2’s capabilities, including a magnetic headband, Bluetooth remote control, macro lens, floating handle, and more. DJI’s new Action 2 camera overheats & there’s no fix yet in Europe & the UK

Last week, renowned Chinese drone maker DJI launched a portable action camera dubbed DJI Action 2 camera. The camera was a successor of the Osmo Action camera and is positioned to take on the GoPro Hero 10 Black.

The DJI Action 2 adopts a portable modular design. The camera itself measures just 39mm square and 22mm deep. The compact design meant the internal components are crammed into a smallish form factor. That itself may have created an issue that users may face unless a software update is pushed soon.

YouTuber Geeksvana has shared a video where he reviewed the Action 2 camera. The YouTuber revealed that the camera’s capabilities are somewhat limited in Europe and the UK. This is due to some inherent regulatory bottlenecks in these regions. As a result, the camera can become extremely hot when it is used for video recording at high frame rates and resolutions. The review shows the camera started overheating after 3 minutes when it is used at 4K/120 FPS while at 4K/30 FPS, it became hot in less than 6 minutes.

Ordinarily, the DJI Action 2 features a ‘High-Temperature Mode’ which effectively deals with this issue but due to regulatory restrictions, DJI is unable to activate this mode on the models shipping to the EU and UK. The regulations are enacted to protect the consumers, though.

We have no idea how DJI will resolve this issue for the affected region. You would want to have this at the back of your mind when shopping for the Action 2 camera if you are in the UK or EU.

To recall, the DJI Action 2 features a 12MP lens with a 155-degree FOV. The camera is capable of recording 4K videos. It equally sports a 1.76-inch OLED touchscreen protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The modular design makes it possible to mount a second screen as well as add the DJI mic or other third-party products to the device.

The Action 2 carries an entry price tag of $399. You wouldn’t want to shell out this amount for a camera that can record for up to 30 minutes without heating up.

Renowned drone maker DJI has updated its portable camera offering with the launch, today, of the DJI Action 2 camera. The camera is a successor to the Osmo Action camera which was launched way back in 2019 to take on the GoPro.

The naming system for Action 2 is slightly modified from its predecessor with the removal of the Osmo moniker. That notwithstanding, the still retains the dual-display design of its predecessor. It also arrives with several accessories and add-ons with magnetic properties.

The camera features a small module measuring 39mm square and 22mm deep. The camera packs a 12MP sensor that can record 4K videos. The 12MP lens has a wide 155-degree field of view. The device also packs a 1.76-inch OLED touchscreen protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

The modular design allows users to attach a second touchscreen accompanied by an array of microphones. It is also possible to attach an extra battery and several mounts such as a tripod or GoPro mount. Users can also wear the camera like a necklace with an included lanyard.

The Action 2 camera weighs just 53 grams all thanks to the modularity. It comes with a built-in 32GB storage that can be expanded via a microSD card. The camera features support for electronic stabilization and horizon leveling. It can be used for live streaming or as a webcam.

Talking of the pricing and availability, DJI Action 2 camera is priced at $399. For this price, you get the camera along with a camera mount, a lanyard, and a power module that extends the record time to 180 minutes and adds an extra microSD card slot. Curiously, you can’t buy the camera without the bundle. There is a second bundle that includes the second touchscreen but the company will release that one on November 2nd.

DJI Action 2 camera might launch tonight, official app receives update

DJI had previously announced that it will be launching three new products in a row. The launch dates for these products was October 20, October 27, and November 27, so we can expect the company to release a new camera later today.

Previously, we had reported on the Chinese drone maker launching the Ronin 4D, which is a new cinema camera that arrives with an in built gimbal, LiDAR support, and can even shoot at up to 8K resolution. It features the Zenmuse X9 that has interchangeable lens mounts for the brand’s DL and Leica’s M systems. Now, based on the company’s recent teasers ahead of launch, the next camera that will be released is the Action 2.

According to an ITHome report, users of DJI’s official Mimo app, which is the partner app for the brand’s handheld gimbal cameras, spotted that the application also received a new update. This update adds support for the Action 2 camera, which is expected to weigh 56 grams and is equipped with 1/1.7 inch CMOS sensor (F2.8). Its camera lens will be able to shoot up to 4K resolution at 120 fps and has an 155 degree field of view. The Action 2 will be equipped with RockSteady 2.0 and HorizonSteady anti shake solution.

Under the hood, the Action 2 is powered by a 580mAh battery that offers nearly an hour of battery life. Previous leaks had also pointed at a modular design along with an external screen and battery module. However, we will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure, so stay tuned for more updates.

DJI Mavic 3, Action 2 camera, and RC Pro smart controller certified by US FCC

Days back, some renders of the DJI Mavic 3 drone revealed a more powerful battery system that will expand its flight time significantly. In an indication that the eventual unveiling of the products is imminent, the Mavic 3 consumer drone and Action 2 waterproof camera have entered the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database.

The FCC is the clearinghouse for all issues relating to certification and issuance of unique codes to companies to identify wireless products in the market. The rigorous process involves several stages culminating in the issuance of the FCC code. The DJI Mavic 3 drone has an FCC code of SS3-L2P2104. As per the FCC filings, it is likely that two models are on the offing: the L2A, which is the DJI Mavic 3, and the L2P, which refers to DJI Mavic 3 Cine version.

We can confirm the earlier leak as per the battery of the DJI Mavic 3. It is a 15.4 V, 5,000 mAH, 77 Wh battery. Up to 46 minutes of flight time is assured on the Mavic 3, which has some far-reaching implications on its applicability. It will be one of the strong marketing points for the Mavic 3.

DJI Action 2 camera has FCC ID: 2ANDR-MC2112021 and is the latest action camera from DJI. It could be released as early as October 27. The DJI Action 2 camera will possibly come with a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor and an aperture of f/2.8, for up to 155-degree wide view. The camera will feature a new modular design and make filming more immersive with an array of accessories. The Action 2 will support a wireless pad although the details are lacking at this time.

The new smart controller also sighted in the FCC database is the RC Pro. It is designed to maximize the functionality of the Mavic 3 or any other compatible drone that is equipped with DJI’s proprietary video transmission system, OcuSync 3.0.

The RC Pro would allow the Mavic 3 to transmit HD video in real-time up to a distance of 15km and is available with the Cine version of the drone.

The DJI Mavic 3 and the RC Pro controller could be launched on November 5.
