We have seen a number of devices from both Elephone and Doogee in the past few months. However, Elephone’s G6 and the Doogee DG900 have been particularly popular among buyers. That’s why we decided to put the G6 against the Doogee Turbo2 DG900 to see which one comes out as the winner.

We will be comparing both the devices on a number of different aspects like design, battery life, display etc. So, without wasting any more time, lets take a look at the similarities and the differences between the two Chinese handsets.

DESIGN

The first thing you notice about a phone is its overall design and hence, it seems right to start with this category first.

Elephone G6 and Doogee DG900 have two different design profiles, which make them harder to compare. While the G6 features a traditional design, that we have seen in many recent smartphones i.e. a rectangular body with soft touch plastic (quite similar to the OnePlus One), the Doogee DG900 comes with curved sides on a rectangular body. There are some additional lines on the back alongside the camera which gives it a distinct look.

So, on the design front, we can’t really pick out a winner. Both the devices are well built and looks premium too, hence we guess its a tie.

If you loved the OnePlus One’s design, you’ll love the G6. But if you like a Lumia kind of design, then you will most likely prefer the DG900.

DISPLAY

Now, lets take a look at the second most prominent part of a phone i.e. its display.

Both the smartphones come with a 5.0 inch display, however the resolutions are significantly different. Doogee DG900 comes with a higher Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution while the Elephone G6 just features a HD 1280 x 720 pixel resolution screen. So, DG900 is much more sharper than G6. However, even with a higher resolution screen, the colors on the DG900 looks washed out. On the other hand, Elephone G6’s display is more natural looking and rich in colors.

So even though the DG900 comes with a better resolution, we personally like Elephone’s 720p display. Therefore, this category goes to the Elephone G6.

There’s another reason we picked the G6’s display over DG900 but we’ll reveal that in the next section i.e. hardware.

Meanwhile, take a look at displays on both the devices. The left one is the Doogee DG900 while on the right is the Elephone G6.

HARDWARE & PERFORMANCE

Both the DG900 and the Elephone G6 sport similar hardware, but there are some areas where the DG900 has an edge over the latter.

Both come with Mediatek MTK6592 Octa Core CPU with Cortex A7 Cores clocked at 1.7Ghz. The G6 comes with a slightly better GPU– Mali 450 as compared to the Mali 400 found on the Doogee model. However, the DG900 comes with a much larger RAM module, a 2GB one unlike the 1GB found on the G6.

As for storage, you get 16GB on DG900 and 8GB on G6. Both have external memory card slots which support cards up to 64GB in size.

While the hardware on the DG900 is much better than on the G6, especially due to its 2GB RAM, the MTK6592 chipset on the Doogee phone struggles to power the Full HD 1080p screen. As a result, even with the extra RAM, on personal experience, we have seen that the G6 is much more responsive than DG900. There’s only a slight difference between the performance of the two, but its noticeable.

Also, with the extra pixels that the Doogee model has to power, the device gets heated up too pretty easily.

On our initial Doogee DG900 review, the Doogee DG900 scored well over 30,000 as compared to Elephone G6’s score of 25,886. However,to our surprise after a few days of usage, when we tested the phone again, the DG900’s Benchmark score fell to 25,227. That’s around 5000 points lower than the initial figure which worried us. Also, the phone became slower with use. It may have been an issue with this specific model but still we were dissapointed.

As a result, even with the better 2GB RAM onboard, we prefer the Elephone G6 when it comes to hardware and performance.

CAMERA

Camera is yet another important aspect of a smartphone and in this category, Doogee DG900 is slightly better than the G6. This is due to the fact that, DG900 comes with a 13MP Sony IMX135 sensor as compared to the 13MP found on the G6. For the front camera too, the former comes with an 5MP shooter while the latter comes with just a 2MP sensor.

Images from the DG900 are much better and natural looking than the G6. The images captured on the Elephone model are quite darker than the Doogee phone, so low light pictures especially look better on the latter.

As you can see, the pictures captured by the G6 are not that bad and quite comparable to Doogee DG900, but still the DG900 takes better pictures majority of the time and hence, this section goes to the DG900.

BATTERY 

The DG900 comes with a larger 2500 mAh battery as compared to the 2250 mAh one found on the G6. But in real time usage, Elephone G6 managed to squeeze in much more than 7 hours that we got from the DG900.

However, the Doogee model does have a fast charge feature which enables it to charge fully within 2 hours.

It hard to pick a winner in this category especially because of DG900’s fast charge feature. So, we leave that for you to decide what you want, a slightly better battery or a faster charging option.

 CONNECTIVITY, SOFTWARE & FEATURES

Both the phones feature standard connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, AGPS, Proximity, Gravity sensors, 3G, Dual Sim support etc.

As for the software, both run on Android 4.4 Kitkat version.

However, the Elephone G6 does have an added advantage. It comes with a finger print sensor which clearly gives it an edge over the Doogee Turbo2 DG900. In fact, this particular features makes it a much attractive option than many other costlier alternatives in the market.

However, instead of a finger print sensor, the DG900 has a rear touch panel which can be used to open up the camera and click pictures.

OUR VERDICT

Both the phones have similar specifications with the Doogee DG900 having better specs in some areas. However, when it comes to real life performance, the cheaper Elephone G6 manages to match DG900’s performance. In fact, it’s even better than the latter in some areas like display, performance and battery life. Elephone G6 is priced at $119, which is almost $100 cheaper than Doogee DG900, if you don’t want to spent more for the same specs on a phone for it’s design, then Elephone G6 must be a good choice.

Doogee DG900’s design borrows liberally from Gionee Elife S5.5, but it also possesses a lot of unique features that let it stand on its own. Doogee DG900 is a beautiful glass phone no matter how you look at it. The DG900 from Doogee is not just another fancy little device with some moderately identifiable features. It is a plethora more than that. The handset rides on the back of a pack of astounding specs to claim its share of the limelight. A 5 inch screen, the MTK6592 1.7 GHz Octa core processor, 16 GB user memory, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP rear lense, and the 5 MP front camera are equal stakeholders in the claim. All of this is bundled into the Android 4.4 KitKat. Here is a spec-to-spec Doogee DG900 Review of its latest Smartphone, Doogee DG900 Turbo2, which is all set to take you by surprise with its superb features.

DESIGN

The Doogee DG900 Turbo2 has a brilliant body design which one is sure to love. It is an ultra slim smart phone having the dimensions, 153 x 76 x 6.9mm, and weighs just 134.4 grams which makes it easy and good to hold. Its body is plated on the back and has a crystal finish on the front screen. Even the screen frame is thin and measures just 2.2mm. Moreover, it has a sharp rectangular design made around a strong chassis with the volume and power key provided on the left side. This phone is available in two colour choices too, black and white. It is needless to say, that this phone has awesome looks which is a treat to the eyes.

DISPLAY

Display is yet another area worth appreciation in this Doogee DG900 Review. It features a 5.0 inch and 5-point Capacitive IPS Touch screen which has a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 441 ppi. This makes the images look crystal clear, sharp and vibrant. Another great thing is that it is equipped with two 5 inch 3^rd generation Corning Gorilla Glass, instead of a single panel; one protects the front Touch Screen while the other is for the back of the body as the back body also has a touch panel. This makes the Smartphone, three times more resistant to scratches and any kind of shocks.

CAMERA

DG900 comes with 8MP 88º wide angle front camera and an 18 MP rear camera according to the official specifications listed on the website, however there seems to a major flaw in the details given on the website which is contradicting, the headline says 18MP but if you scroll down you’d see in the description that it is actually a 13MP rea camera. We didn’t know what to believe until we tried the phone our self and the 13MP rear camera is the real camera spec indeed. The DG900 uses IMX35 Sony’s sensor for its 13MP rear camera. Also the front camera doesn’t really seem wide angle at all, we can’t confirm the claims but the result of the camera is below, so you can be the judge of it. Our experienced opinion, this ain’t wide angle.

Processor and Performance Powered by Android 4.4 (Kitkat), DOOGEE Turbo2 DG900 has MTK6592 Cortex-A7 Octa Core processor with a processing power of 1.7GHz. The Octa Core performance is complemented by a whooping 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. This smartphone really comes packed with just too many high-end features, but does it then live up to the expectations? Obviously such a super charged device would run heavy games as well as play 1080p full HD videos smoothly, but when we put the device to test we had some mixed results. The game performances had been is immaculate. We ran some hi-end graphics intensive games, which did show minor jerks here and there, but the  overall experience was quite decent. However running 1080p Full HD video experience was not up to the par. Doogee DG900 stuck often and the video skipped frames, so we can’t truly say you should play 1080p videos  using it, you can record 1080p videos  but try watching 720p videos on the phone for a smoother experience. One definite problem we experienced was the heating up of Doogee DG900, which is quite acceptable if you’re playing heaving games on it, but the speed at which it heats up is kind of alarming, but then again it might be an issue with the handset we got for review. Another reason we can think of is the Octa Core processor, the MKT6592, the chip itself might be heating up due to the design factor of the phone, the full HD screen and gorilla glass on either ends. OPERATING SYSTEM Doogee DG900 uses the most popular operating system in the world: Android. It has Android KitKat v4.4 installed which lets you have the familiar and user-friendly interface. This also means that you will have access to more than one million applications that can be downloaded from Google Play Store, from health apps to games to music apps, all in the palm of your hand owing to its superior processor.

Rear Touch Panel The back side of the Doogee DG900 comes with a touch sensitive panel, which is a refreshing add on to the smartphone market. Double tab on the back opens up the camera app, this feature is being marketed as a single handed selfie mode. So if you’re one of the millions who love taking selfies, this feature might come in very handy to you.

The only annoying thing is, if you accidently tab or touch the back panel, while keeping the phone in your purse or pocket or even while playing games, the camera pops open. We personally found it very distracting while playing games! This feature can thankfully be turned on or off from within the phone settings.

Irrespective of how us boys think, the female squad at GizmoChina have only flowering words for this new feature and unanimously have voted this to be one of the best new features in a smartphone.

OTHER FEATURES Apart from all these major features, there are many other features that make this device a great choice when it comes to high end smart phones that I need to show in this Doogee DG900 Review. It also has dual SIM slots. You can extend its memory up to 64 GB with TF card. It features 16000K colours in display. It supports 2G Band 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G band WCDMA 900/2100 MHz. Moreover, you can enjoy faster internet speeds with Wi-Fi v802.11 b/g/n and faster file transfers with the latest Bluetooth version 4.0. It also has Gravity Sensor, FM, EBook, Email, Tethering and portable hotspots and a highly accurate GPS. Doogee DG900 also has intelligent gesture support which automatically receives the phone call as you put the phablet next to your ear. There are many more gesture features like draw C on phone’s screen, it will not only unlock the phablet, but also opens up the camera for you. Similarly double tap on the home button to wake up the phone and review the lock screen updates.Another astonishing feature of this Smartphone is that also supports about 43 languages from around the globe. It recognises input in Handwrite, Swype and QWERTY forms. It has a decent battery life which is powered by a non removable 2500mAh battery and has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the body.

Battery life Battery life was a common problems among all the slim phones. The 2500mAh battery barely managed 7 hours on Doogee DG900 before shutting down during our tests. Hope the battery will last one day with moderate usage. This is at least 90 minutes short of what most phones usually last in our tests. But the good thing is it can achieve full charge in 2 hours.

Doogee DG900 Review: Verdict and price Doogee DG900 is good looking, well made, and is suitably different to most other Android devices. With the elegant design it gets a good scores for its aesthetic appeal. For the price, it also delivers good results in terms of its hardware i.e the camera, speed and overall build quality. Doogee DG900 is sold in various countries around the world, you can get it at giztop for $199.

Rear cover: The Doogee DG900’s rear cover is connected to the camera’s protective panel and chassis with very strong rubber. You can soften the rubber by heating it up to take off the rear cover. Afterwards, take off the camera’s protective case with your hand. Take note that as you do this, you cannot head the middle part of the rear cover (at about 70 degrees Celsius at most). After taking off the rear cover, you can see the interior of the Doogee DG900 with its motherboard, battery, and other accessories. Both the rear cover and screen are made of Gorilla glass giving the phone an excellent texture.

Chassis: The Doogee DG900 has support for SIM hot plugging (they can be put in without turning off the device). This makes it convenient for the user when changing SIM cards. The sides of this phone are not as curvy as the iPhone 6. The phone’s sturdy edges make it look majestic.

Battery: You can take off the battery by removing the cable connecting it to the motherboard. Be very careful though because the cable can be easily damaged. We actually do not think that regular users should try dislodging the battery and prefer that they find a good technician to do so.

Motherboard: The motherboard and screen have three cable ports as the last photo shows.

The motherboard and secondary board are connected in two places: a flat cable port and a coaxial cable port. Carefully disconnect the former and then the latter. Then, use a pair of tweezers to take out the Home and Volume buttons. Then unscrew the little bolt connecting the motherboard and screen, and you can take off the former. Like with most cellphones, taking off the motherboard is very difficult. As we disassemble it, we can see just how well built and sturdy this phone is.

Camera: The rear-facing camera is everyone’s beloved Sony IMX135 camera with 5P lens. Expect great quality photos.

Secondary board: After detaching the motherboard, you can go on with the secondary board. The flat cable connecting both is glued to the inside of the screen case. Simply use your hand to take it off. There is also a bolt connecting the secondary board and screen on the lower right side. Just take off the paper glued to the plastic protective case with a pair of pliers, and you can see this bolt. Take out this bolt to take off the protective case. As you look at the secondary board, you can tell how everything is integrated with each other. One advantage of this is that there are less wires which keeps everything neat and organized.

That’s it. For the most part, disassembling the Doogee DG900 has been quite easy.

Recently we got an interesting device to play with, the Doogee DG900 Turbo 2 smartphone. We have already listed out the key features of the device in an earlier article, however, this is the first time we got the opportunity to get an hands on with the device.

When we first saw the device, it was enclosed in a premium looking full black case, The picture actually doesn’t do justice to the actual quality of the case. Needless to say, we were impressed.

Once we got the device in our hands, we got little time to test it out.

Doogee DG900‘s design is pretty impressive as it has a rectangular design with a frame like the Lumia series phones. Moreover, it has dual color tones, which to be frank looks quite good. The sides are curved and the devices fits well in the hand. And at 7.1mm, its even slimmer than its predecessor, the Doogee Turbo. To sum up, we like the overall design.

On the front of Doogee DG900, there’s a 5 inch FULL HD screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Yes, you get a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 440PPI which makes the display extremely sharp and bright. The quality of images and videos displayed were quite good and is comparable to other flagships from competitors.

The volume keys as well as the power button are on the left, so it might take some time to get used to the placement of the power button. You have the sim card tray on the right, which supports dual sim cards like other Doogee smartphones. Below the 5.0 inch display, there are three capacitive buttons while on top, you have the ambient light sensor and the front camera.

Inside, there’s an Mediatek MTK MT6592 Octa Core 1.7 Ghz processor along with 2GB RAM. You also get a rear 13MP camera with LED flash. As for the software, it comes with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box.

Another interesting thing about the device is that it will support WCDMA 900/2100 & GSM 850/900/1800/1900 network bands. This means the phone will be compatible in a number of new markets, which is definitely good news for international buyers.

Doogee DG900 is one of the first Doogee smartphones to support these network bands, so any Doogee fans out there who couldn’t buy Doogee devices previously because of incompatible networks can finally pick one up.

Doogee managed to keep its Turbo2 DG900 smartphone under wraps for quite some time. But the device will finally be available to pre-order starting this Monday.

Doogee DG900 is an interesting device. The design is quite different than other Doogee smartphones and the specs have improved to a great extent than its predecessors.

DG900 sports a sharp rectangular body with curved sides which sets it apart from other flagships in the market. It seems like the company has finally put some thought into the design as the rear shell will feature a soft texture much like the baby skin texture found on the OnePlus One. There are also some interesting lines alongside the camera which stands apart from the rest of the body.

On the front, there’s a 5 inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. This means the display will be extremely sharp at 440 PPI and images and videos will look bright and clear. Inside, you get a 1.7 GHz Octa Core MTK6592 processor along with 2GB RAM (yes, we finally have a 2GB RAM phone from Doogee). There’s 16GB storage memory on board which can be further expanded up to 64GB via a MicroSD card.

The device supports dual sim, Wi-Fi, 3G (unfortunately no LTE) and even Mediatek’s HotKnot feature which has applications similar to NFC. You also get some special software features like Gesture recognition, tap to wake up etc.

On the back, there’s a 13MP camera along with LED flash. Coming to the front, you get an 8MP 88 degrees wide angle camera perfect for group selfies.

While the DG900 comes with a 2,500 mAh battery, we feel its a bit small as compared to other flagships like Meizu MX4 or Xiaomi Mi4. Even the upcoming Elephone P4000 comes with a 3150 battery pack which means you may not get as much talk time as these smartphones.

Doogee usually prices its phones competitively, and this device too is no exception. The device starts selling from GearBest starting this Monday for an amazing price of $222.13. This is much cheaper than other competitors in the market, hence make sure you check out the new DG900 before buying a flagship phone for yourself.

The Doogee DG900 is one of Doogee’s newest releases. Among its features is its rear touch panel which can be used to take photos and a wake gesture function and a 16MP Sony camera. It uses Gorilla Glass 3 glass on both side of the body.

Regarding the Doogee DG900’s design, its measurements are 143 x 72.6 x 7.1mm（L×W×H）and is available in sandstone black and babyskin white. It sports a 5.0” IPS screen with FHD 1080 x 1920 resolution and OGS Full Lamination Technology. Its rear camera is a 16MP Sony IMX135 camera with 5P lens while its front camera is an 88 degree wide angle camera with 8MP and True LED Flash. Users can take big group selfies with this camera. Doogee DG900 also supports WCDMA 3G (HSDPA 21Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps) and WiFI hotspots,EDGE, GPRS, EGSM, and WAP. Other features include Flip to Mute, Easy Dial, Easy Answer, and Gesture Answer. To access the Wake Gesture feature, just double tap the screen. It also supports APP encryption.

This phone is powered by a 2500mAh battery and its talk time is 360 minutes while its standby time is 120 hours. Regarding the charger, its input is 100-240V while its output is 5V-1000mA. It uses a USB 5Pin Micro connector and has a 3.5mm earphone jack.
