It features a compact 5.5-inch screen with rounded edges, infinity cover glass, and an updated interface designed for better visibility in low light. The smart display is powered by Amazon’s new AZ2 Neural Edge processor and an improved microphone array for faster response and clearer voice recognition.

The display also supports messages and announcements across Echo devices in the home.

Entertainment features include an upgraded 1.7-inch rear-facing speaker, offering double the bass and improved clarity compared to the previous generation. Users can stream music and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, or JioSaavn, or listen to audiobooks on Audible. Multi-room music playback is supported via grouping with other Echo devices.

The smart display can also be used to watch video content through Prime Video (subscription required), follow workout videos via the browser, or access visual content like recipes and to-do lists. Hands-free Alexa controls make daily tasks easier, such as creating shopping lists or setting alarms.

Privacy features include a built-in camera shutter, a microphone on/off button, and voice recording controls via the Alexa app. Amazon also provides a dedicated Alexa Privacy Hub for more transparency.

The post Amazon Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) Launched in India with Better Sound and Display appeared first on Gizmochina.

Amazon has just launched a new Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 10 smart speaker in India. The new devices arrive with a display and in built camera, along with support for various other features like Alexa voice assistant.

Talking about the new Echo Show 10, the smart speaker features a 10.1 inch HD display with a 13 megapixel camera on the front. It offers premium sound and intelligent motion that enables it to move the display to face you as you interact with Alexa. Since it is a smart speaker, it offers 10W dual front firing speakers that also feature powerful woofers that rotates as well. Its 10.1 inch display also makes it a great product for consuming content from online streaming platforms like Amazon Prime or Netflix.

On the other hand, the second generation Echo Show 5 arrives with certain improvements over its predecessor. It still retains its compact form factor, with a 5.5 inch display. At the front, it also sports an HD camera that lets the smart speaker make video calls and even monitoring home remotely. Furthermore, the Echo Show 5 is available in three color variants in the region. The new Echo Show devices have also been built with multiple layers of protection as well.

The Echo Show 10 is available in a single Black color variant and is available for a price of 24,999 INR (roughly 335 US Dollars). Meanwhile, the Echo Show 5 is priced at 8,999 INR (roughly 120 US Dollars) and is available in Black, White, and Blue color options. Notably, the Echo Show will be available for a discounted price of 6,999 INR (roughly 95 US Dollars) with both smart speakers purchasable from the Amazon India official website. Amazon has refreshed two of its smart displays. The 2021 edition of the Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 bring upgraded cameras and new features. It has also announced a kids version of the smaller model.

Echo Show 8

The Echo Show 8 comes with a new octa-core processor which Amazon has deliberately not named. The new chipset should provide the additional power needed for some of the new features such as panning and zooming with the new 13MP camera while making a video call. Amazon has made the field of view of the camera wider (110°) for the pan and zoom feature since the Echo Show 8’s display can’t rotate like that of the Echo Show 10.

There is also a human detection feature that turns on configured routines when someone walks into the room. Amazon says that this feature is not activated out of the box. Another feature that has been included according to The Verge is new AR effects for Amazon’s video chat service. Users will be able to set custom virtual backgrounds and animated reactions will now cover the screen.

Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 5 Kids Edition

The new Echo Show 5 now has a 2MP camera but doesn’t have the pan and zoom feature of the Echo Show 8 but gets the motion feature that activates routines such as turning on the lights when you enter a room. Amazon now offers the smart display in a new blue variant alongside white and charcoal. It has also permanently dropped the price to $84.99.

The Echo Show 5 Kids Edition has the same specs but gets a multi-color fabric on the rear. It also comes with 1 year of Amazon Kids Plus services and a 2-year warranty that covers all damages. This special edition costs $94.99. All three devices have camera shutters and buttons to turn the microphone/camera off.

There is no news yet as to when they will be available for purchase as they are all still listed as out of stock on the online store.

Amazon first launched the Alexa-packing Echo Show with a touchscreen display in May 2017. The Echo Show (2nd Gen) was a redesigned version with a bigger 10-inch display launched last year clutching a $229 price tag. The US giant has now launched the Echo Show 5, a trimmed down version of the Show. The new version equally comes with a much cheaper $89.99 price tag.

As the name suggests, the Echo Show 5 features a 5.5-inch display which has a resolution of 960×480 pixels. The widescreen aspect ratio affords users the leverage to watch Amazon Prime Video content, as well as content from other service providers. The device also has a single but impressive 4W speaker on the back.

The device also packs a 1MP front camera for video calling other Amazon Echo users. You don’t have to bother about privacy issues as the camera has a shutter that physically blocks the camera when it’s not in use.

The Echo Show 5 has similar features with the Echo Show, aside these listed trimmed down hardware. As a reminder, the device features Alexa smart assistant and can also be used for browsing as it comes preinstalled with Amazon’s Silk browser You can use voice to access your services as well as smart home devices around your house. However, the Zigbee hub for easily connecting to smart home devices that use the Zigbee protocol is absent on this version.

The Echo Show 5 comes in Charcoal and Sandstone colours and is priced at $89.99.
