Motorola has been pushing the Android 12 update to some of its devices. The most recent phones to get the update include the Moto G50 and Moto G200. Now, Motorola’s 2021 flagship is getting the latest Android update. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro that launched last year with Android 11 OS out of the box, is not getting the taste of the newest software available to the public, the Android 12 OS.

Motorola has pushed the update for the Edge 20 Pro with model number XT2153-1-DS. The update is currently live in Brazil and it is expected to reach other regions soon.

The update brings the March security patch and all the Android 12 features. There’s Material You redesign, Privacy Dashboard, camera & mic indicators, to name a few.

If you are an Edge 20 Pro user residing in Brazil, then you should have received the Android 12 update notification. But in case you didn’t get the notification, follow these steps: Go to Settings > System > Advanced > System Updates.

Apart from this, the other Motorola devices that have already received the update are Moto G Pro Moto G30, Moto G50, Moto G200, and Motorola Edge 20.

Finally, Motorola India has launched the Motorola Edge 20 Pro flagship phone. It will be the country’s third Edge series smartphone after the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Fusion that was announced in August. After teasing the arriving of the arrival of the Edge 20 Pro flagship for a few days, Motorola has finally confirmed it will be announced at 12 PM (local time) on Oct. 1. A landing page for Edge 20 Pro is now live on Flipkart. It mentions the key features and specifications of the smartphone.

The Flipkart landing page reveals that the Motorola Edge 20 Pro will support 11 5G bands and it will run on a near-stock version of Android 11, and it will be receiving Android 12 and 13 upgrades in the future. The flagship phone will also be provided with 2 years of security updates.

The Edge 20 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel that offers a 144Hz refresh rate, a 576Hz touch sampling rate, and 10-bit colors. It has a front camera of 32-megapixel, and its rear camera setup has a 108-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens that can also capture macro shots, an 8-megapixel OIS-enabled telephoto camera, an audio zoom microphone, and LED flash The triple cameras promise up to 50x zoom and up to 8K video recording.

The Edge 20 Pro will feature a Snapdragon 870 chipset and 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The handset houses a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 30W TurboPower charging. It will be available in Midnight Sky and Iridescent Cloud colors. The American smartphone maker had recently teased the launch of the Edge 20 Pro that stated that the higher end model will be “coming soon” on its official Twitter handle. But now, Flipkart has confirmed that a new Motorola phone will be launching on October 1. In other words, its safe to assume that the Edge 20 Pro is likely the handset in question that will be launching at the start of next month.

As of right now, finer details regarding the device is currently unknown. While the Edge 20 Pro is available in overseas market for a price of 699 Euros, which roughly translates to about 60,360 INR, the company might cut some features to lower the price of the device in India. So, we might see the 12GB of RAM be cut down to 8GB of RAM -for the Indian market.

Other features of the Moto Edge 20 Pro includes a 6.7 inch Full HD+ OLED display with a punch hole for the 32 megapixel selfie camera. This display supports 144Hz refresh rate while the smartphone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. The info was revealed on Twitter by the Country Head of Motorola India, Prashanth Mani. The tweet was a quoted reply to a tweet by another user who said he wished the Edge 20 Pro was announced too. The top executive replied that the phone will launch soon.

The Edge 20 Pro a.k.a Edge S Pro in China is a Snapdragon 870-powered phone with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 144Hz OLED display. That display also has a 576Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+, SGS eye protection certification, DCI-P3 color gamut, and can display over a billion colors.

The processor is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage but we won’t be surprised if India gets a more affordable 8GB RAM variant. There is a 108MP primary rear camera, an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 50x superzoom, and a 16MP ultrawide angle camera that can also shoot in macro. Up in front is a 32MP camera.

Motorola ships the phone with a 4500mAh and supports 30W TurboPower fast charging. It also has the Ready For PC feature that is available on the Moto G100. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro runs My UX based on Android 11 and Motorola is promising two years of OS upgrades and security updates.

At the end of the previous month, Motorola silently unveiled the Edge 20 series of smartphones. According to popular tipster Mukul Sharma, the Lenovo-owned company will be announcing a pair of Edge 20 series of smartphones in August.

As it is known, the Edge 20 includes three models such as Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, and Edge 20 Lite. While the Edge 20 smartphone is expected to launch in India with a pricing of around Rs 30,000 (~$403), it is unclear whether the second model could be the Pro or Lite handset. The vanilla and Pro models are expected to go official later this week in China. Recent teasers by Motorola’s China division suggest that the Edge 20 Pro may debut in the Chinese market with the “Motorola Edge S Pro” moniker.

Earlier this year, Motorola announced the Snapdragon 870 SoC-powered Motorola Edge S phone in China, which was made available in global markets as the Motorola Moto G100. The Edge S Pro is expected to arrive as an upgraded version of the original Edge S as the name goes.

The Edge S Pro is expected to arrive with a 6.7-inch OLED FHD+ display with a punch-hole design. The Snapdragon 870 is present under the hood of the device. It is likely to arrive in China with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Last week, popular tipster OnLeaks shared the CAD renders of the Edge 20. Today, reliable tipster Evan Blass released the leaked press render of the Edge 20 Pro to reveal its design.

The Edge 20 Pro’s render shows that it will not be featuring a curved edge screen like the last Edge and Edge+ series of smartphones from last year. It features an OLED panel with a centrally aligned punch-hole and an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Earlier today, Motorola confirmed that it will be announcing the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro smartphones in China on Aug. 5. Ahead of the launch, both smartphones have appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site today, which indicates that the company could be internally testing these devices before their announcement.

At the beginning of this month, two Motorola phones with XT2143-1 and XT2153-1 model numbers were spotted at China’s TENAA certification platform with full specs and images. These models are expected to arrive in the Chinese market as the Motorola Edge 20 (codenamed as Berlin) and Motorola Edge 20 Pro (codenamed as Pstar).

Earlier this month, two Motorola phones with model numbers XT2143-1 and XT2153-1 were spotted at the TENAA certification site in China. These listings belong to the upcoming Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro smartphones. Today, the company confirmed that it will be unleashing the Edge 20 series of phones at 7:30 PM (local time) on Aug. 5 in China.

The TENAA listing of both phones and leaked information shared by reliable tipster Evan Blass had revealed that the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro will be equipped with a 108-megapixel primary camera. The official poster also hints that the Edge 20 series will sport a 108-megapixel camera.

The Edge 20v and Edge 20 Pro smartphones are expected to arrive with a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies, the Edge 20 may come with a 32-megapixel front camera whereas its rear shell may possess a 16-megapixel selfie snapper.

The Edge 20’s rear camera setup may include a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The Edge 20 Pro may feature the same camera setup, but its telephoto lens may support 3x optical zoom.

The Snapdragon 778G is likely to power the Edge 20, while the Edge 20 Pro may come with Snapdragon 870 chip. Both phones may come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. These devices will come preinstalled with Android 11 OS.

The Edge 20 may house a 4,000mAh battery, whereas the Edge 20 Pro. Both phones are expected to arrive with other common features like an in-screen fingerprint scanner, fast charging, and a Google Assistant button.

Motorola is expected to announce the Motorola Edge 20 series of smartphones at the end of this month. It appears that the XT2143-1 and XT2153-1 Motorola phones that have emerged in the database of China’s TENAA regulatory body could be the upcoming Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro phones. Here is all that have appeared through their TENAA listings.

Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro specifications

The Motorola Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro are flanked with a 6.67-inch OLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2,400 pixels. Both phones have centrally aligned punch-hole screens that offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro model has an in-display fingerprint scanner, but it is not clear whether the Edge 20 has a rear-facing or in-display fingerprint sensor. They also seem to be fitted with a hardware key for accessing the Google/voice assistant.

The Edge 20 has a 2.4GHz octa-core processor and a 3,760mAh rated battery, whereas the Edge 20 Pro features a 3.2GHz octa-core processor and a 4,230mAh rated battery. Past reports have revealed that the Edge 20 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 778G, and the Pro model will be driven by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. The Edge 20 duo supports fast charging.

The Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro expected to arrive in 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB RAM variants. In terms of storage, these phones may release in options like 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. They are loaded with Android 11 OS, and they lack support for external storage.

The camera details are incorrectly mentioned in the TENAA listings of both phones. Recently, reliable tipster Evan Blass revealed that the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro will feature a 108-megapixel + 16-megapixel (wide-angle) + 8-megapixel (telephoto, 3x zoom on Edge 20, and 5x zoom on Edge 20 Pro) triple camera system.

The Edge 20 measures 163.5 x 76.2 x 7.1mm and weighs 165 grams only. It is expected to arrive in multiple colors such as green, white, black, silver, blue, and gray in China. On the other hand, the Edge 20 Pro has 163.3 x 76.1 x 7.9mm dimensions and weighs 190 grams. It may release in hues such as black, green, blue, pink, silver, and gray in the home market.

After taking a sabbatical for a couple of years, Motorola returned to the flagship market by launching the Motorola Edge+ smartphone. The company also announced the upper mid-range Motorola Edge handset. Earlier this year, it announced the Motorola Edge S in China, which arrived in global markets as the Moto G100. Recent reports have revealed that the company is working on new Edge series of smartphones. Last week, reputed tipster Evan Blass shared the key specifications of the upcoming Edge 20 models. A fresh tweet by the leaker has revealed the names of three Edge 20 series of smartphones.

Past leaks have revealed that the new Edge models are codenamed as Berlin/Berlin NA, Kyoto, and Pstar (aka. Sierra). It is now revealed by Blass that these phones will be releasing in the market as Edge 20, Edge 20 Lite, and Edge 20 Pro. These phones are expected to debut by the end of this month.

The Edge 20 will have a global variant (codenamed as Berlin) and a Verizon-bound edition for North American (codenamed as Berlin NA) markets. As can be seen in the image below, both phones are driven by the Snapdragon 778G. The Edge 20 global edition has downgraded display and battery, but better cameras as compared to its North American edition.

The Edge 20 Lite is a midrange phone driven by the Dimensity 720 chip, and it will be the most affordable phone in the Edge 20 family. This phone will have a global edition, and a variant heading to India.

The Edge 20 Pro that appears to the successor for the Edge+ from last year will be heading to multiple markets such as Asia, Europe, Australia, Latin America, China, and India. While it seems to be a flagship phone, it features the Snapdragon 870 chip, and not the more powerful Snapdragon 888 SoC. The variant heading to China will have a downgraded front camera as compared to its variant releasing in other markets.
