Motorola is known for offering reliable, budget-friendly, and premium smartphones with near-stock Android experiences. However, like many brands using OLED and AMOLED displays, some Motorola users have reported encountering the dreaded green line issue where a vertical green line appears on the screen (even without physical damage).

The green line problem is commonly linked to display degradation, software updates, or screen hardware failures, affecting multiple smartphone brands, including Samsung and OnePlus. So now, here’s a list of Motorola phones that have been reported to experience the same problem.

Motorola G82 With the Green Line Issue

Moto Edge 30 Series

Among the various models that are plagued Motorola’s smartphones, the Edge 30 series is one of the earliest models from the Edge family to have this issue. Due to various reports of green lines surfacing on Edge 30, Edge 30 Fusion, and Edge 30 Ultra, the company faced backlash in Asian markets like India. This was incredibly frustrating for buyers of the Edge 30 Ultra, which was a flagship device with a premium price tag.

Moto Edge 40 Series

After the entire green line fiasco surrounding the Edge 30 series, Motorola had seemingly prevented this issue on the premium Edge 40 Pro. But the Edge 40 and Edge 40 Neo weren’t so lucky. Around a year after their release, these devices started being affected by those frustrating green lines. Affected users were left disappointed as these issues typically surfaced right after their Motorola phones went out of warranty.

Moto G82 & Moto G52

Last but not least we had some Motorola G series smartphones from 2022. This includes the Moto G52 and Moto G82. Unlike the Edge 40, some buyers faced green line issues on the Moto G82 within 24 hours of making their purchase. So it was evident that there was no physical damage. Owners of the Moto G52 also shared images on social media of their devices with multiple green lines on the display.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra launched with 200MP camera, SD8+G1, 125W charging

Motorola has announced the Edge 30 Ultra in the global market. It is a rebranded version of the Moto X30 Pro, which debuted in China in August. The Edge 30 Ultra is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 200-megapixel camera. In addition, it comes with several exciting features, such as a 144Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, and 125W fast charging. Motorola Edge 30 Ultra specifications and features

The Edge 30 Ultra is blessed with a 6.67-inch P-OLED panel with curved edges and a centrally positioned punch-hole. The screen supports a Full HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, 394 ppi pixel density, 1250 nits of brightness, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, 10-bit colors, DCI-P3 color gamut, and HDR10+ support. The phone offers a 92.12 screen-to-body ratio.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra

The Edge 30 Ultra has a 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A front-facing camera, which supports 30fps 4K selfie video recording. The rear-facing triple camera unit of the device has an OIS-assisted 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP1 primary camera with an f/1.95 aperture. It is assisted by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The ultra-wide camera doubles up as a macro camera. The Edge 30 Ultra can shoot up to 30fps 8K videos.

The latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 powers the Edge 30 Ultra. It comes with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device is backed by a 4,610mAh battery that supports 125W TurboPower charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The 125W charger is included in the retail box of the device.

The Edge 30 Ultra comes preinstalled with the Android 12 OS, which comes with support for Ready For functionality. The device will receive two OS upgrades. It comes with other features such as dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port.

The Edge 30 Ultra has an IP52/7 rated chassis. It features Gorilla Glass 5 panels on the front and back with a metallic frame in between. The handset measures 161.76 x 73.5 x 8.39mm and weighs 198.5 grams.

Motorola is going to announce the new Edge 30 series of smartphones on Sept. 8. Several reports have claimed that the brand will announce three devices, the Edge 30 Ultra, the Edge 30 Fusion, and the Edge 30 Neo. Before launch, Nils Ahrensmeier has shared the press renders of the Ultra and Neo models.

The Edge 30 Ultra can be seen sporting a curved edge display with a punch-hole placed at the top-centre position. Its back panel has a 200-megapixel triple camera unit with OIS support. For security, it is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It appears that the device will come in two colors: black and white.

The Edge 30 Ultra will debut as a rebranded version of the Moto X30 Pro. The Motorola Edge 30 Neo can be seen in four colors: Black Onyx, Very Peri (Pantone color of the year), Aqua Foam, and Ice Palace. As far as design is concerned, it features a flat display with a punch-hole design on the front and an OIS-assisted 64-megapixel triple camera unit on the back.

The Edge 30 Neo will house a 6.28-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 695 chipset, and a 4,020mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. It will feature a 32-megapixel front camera and a 64-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual-camera system on the back. It is likely to be priced at 399 euros in Europe.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra bags BIS certification, September 8 launch expected

Motorola India recently confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on Sept. 8 in India. On the specified date, it may announce up to three devices. Rumors are rife that the Lenovo-owned brand may unveil as many as three devices, such as the Edge 30 Ultra, Edge 30 Fusion, and Edge 30 Neo. Ahead of the launch, the Edge 30 Ultra has bagged approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India.

As can be seen in the screenshot shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Edge 30 Ultra, which has an XT2241-2 model number, has appeared in the database of BIS authority. As usual, the BIS listing has not revealed any information about the device. However, its mere appearance at BIS is a good hint that it will be launched soon in the country.

The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 200-megapixel camera. It appears that it will be landing on Sept. 8 as India’s first 200-megapixel camera phone. The specifications of the device are no secret since it is believed to be a rebranded version of the Moto X30 Pro, which went official in China last month.

Motorola tipped to launch dual flagships with Snapdragon 888+ and Snapdragon 8 Gen1 in December

Motorola is gearing to unleash the Moto Edge X powered by Qualcomm’s forthcoming flagship chipset in December. While the rumor mill has been calling the chipset as the Snapdragon 898, a new report from today claimed that the U.S. based chip maker will announce it with the “Snapdragon 8 Gen1” name. According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Lenovo-owned company is planning to launch dual flagships in China in December. These models are said to be powered by an existing Snapdragon 8-series chip and the next-generation 8-series SoC.

The tipster claimed that in a bid to launch dual flagship phones, Motorola will also announce a phone powered by the Snapdragon 888+ chipset. This chipset has powered some flagship phones such as iQOO 8 Pro, Vivo X70 Pro+, Red Magic 6S Pro, ROG Phone 5S, Honor Magic 3 Pro, and Meizu 18s. As it is known, the Snapdragon 888 Plus is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888 SoC.

The tipster did not share any information on the specs of the upcoming Snapdragon 888+ SoC powered flagship. Considering that the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 powered Motorola flagship will carry the Moto Edge X moniker, it is likely that SD888+ could also arrive as an Edge series phone. He added that this device will carry a low price.

Reports have revealed that the Edge X will have a 6.67-inch OLED FHD+ 144Hz display, up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery that supports 68W fast charging. It will come preinstalled with MyUX based Android 11.

The Edge X may feature a 60-megapixel front-facing camera. Its back panel may house a 50-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. This model is speculated to debut with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra moniker in Europe in January.
