DJI is diversifying from its popular drones with the introduction of its new Avinox drive system for e-bikes. This new tech is debuting on the Amflow, which is the brand’s first e-bike that is built using carbon fiber. The venture into the e-bike market arrives amid the US crackdown against Chinese made drones.

DJI Amflow Mountain e-bike: What makes it special?

The Chinese drone maker’s Avinox drive system arrives in a light 2.52 kilogram package (not including the batteries) and promises to offer 850W of peak power (250W nominal power). This system is packed in the bike’s lightweight 19.2 kilogram frame. These two aspects help the Amflow to outperform other full power bikes in power output and range. The Avinox features an IP66 rating as well for water and dust resistance.

The battery on the Avinox supports GaN 3x fast charging technology, which can hit 0 to 75 percent charge in just 1.5 hours. Its drive system arrives with a planetary gearset and polymer gears that bring a balance between size, weight, and power output. DJI promises a quiet ride and four standard riding assist modes, namely Auto, Eco Trail, Turbo, and Boost mode. The auto mode offers automatic power adjustment using a “multi-sensor fusion”. Avinox sports a 2-inch OLED touchscreen panel that lets you change the assist modes and display other key details.

DJI Amflow can even be connected to your smartphone, bringing access to various other features like data recording, sharing, security, real time bike status, and location tracking. Avinox Drive system will only be sold to manufacturers, while the Amflow’s price tag has yet to be announced. There are reports point to a 7,000 EUR to 12,000 EUR price range, but this is still unconfirmed. So take this with a grain of salt and stick around for more updates.

Optibike has released a new electric mountain bike with an unrivaled 180-mile (290km) range. The Optibike RIOT eMTB is available in US and EU versions with 750W and 250W motors respectively. The Optibike RIOT is an all-terrain e-bike and the company says it is the most powerful of its kind. The US version of the e-bike has a maximum torque of 190Nm. The extended range of the RIOT eMTB is due to its large 1,620Wh battery.

Features

The new powerful Optibike e-bike is a class 1 bike in the US. Its powerful torque rating of 190Nm allows the bike to easily navigate inclines with up to 46% gradient. The top speed of the bike is limited to about 32km/h. The EU version of the RIOT eMTB has a top speed of 25km/h and this restriction is based on EU regulations. Both versions of the RIOT eMTB come with a dual-sided pedelec torque sensor and a 1,620Wh lithium-ion battery.

The Optibike RIOT has an LCD mounted on its handlebar and an optional 2,700 headlight for enhanced night visibility. The front of the bike features a RockShox ZEB Ultimate Suspension Fork, while a Fox 230 x 65 Float X Air Shock is present at the rear. Both front and rear suspensions offer 170mm of travel. An optional 14-speed Rohloff geared hub or cassette and derailleur can be utilized to personalize the bike. The RIOT eMTB has a carbon fiber frame and swingarm which makes it to be significantly light at about 31kg.

Pricing

The Optibike RIOT electric mountain bike is now available for pre-order at a starting price of $14,400. Optibike has not provided any clear details on when customers will start receiving their purchases. However, the company says there are limited quantities of the RIOT eMTB although the actual numbers were not stated.

Scott Sports has unveiled its latest electric mountain bike (e-MTB), the Voltage eRIDE. The new Voltage eRIDE has a lightweight, integrated motor and is available in six versions. The Voltage eRIDE e-MTB also comes with a full suspension setup and up to q160mm front and 155mm rear travel. The Scott Voltage eRIDE is now available on the global market.

The versions of the Scott Voltage eRIDE e-MTB are the eRIDE 900 SL, the eRIDE 900 Tuned, the Scott Contessa Voltage eRIDE 900, the Scott Voltage eRIDE 910, the eRIDE 920, and the Scott Contessa Voltage eRIDE 910. The new electric mountain bike is equipped with a TQ-HPR50 drive unit with a maximum torque of 50Nm and a top speed of 25 km/h in the EU and 20mph (33km/h) in the US. The mid-mounted motor weights 1.8kg and combines with a 360Wh battery. Customers can get an optional range extender with a capacity of 160Wh, available as a standard with the eRIDE 900 SL.

Users can adjust the power output settings of the Voltage eRIDE via the TQ smartphone app. The phone can be connected to the bike via Bluetooth while in-ride controls are provided via a handlebar remote. You can view the remaining battery life, speed and range on the bike’s display integrated into the top tube. The cheaper 920 and Contessa 900 versions of the Voltage eRIDE have Marzocchi and Fox elements with 150/ 155 mm of front/ rear travel. The other models come with Fox suspension components with 160/ 155 mm of front/ rear travel. The transmission and disc brakes setup for the models highlight some of their differences. The 900 SL and 900 Tuned are equipped with SRAM models while the other versions come with Shimano equivalents.

Pricing & Availability

The Scott Voltage eRIDE models are all lightweight, with the 900 SL being the lightest (17.9kg). They all come with Maxxis tires but the types differ among the versions. The Scott Voltage eRIDE is available in the US, the UK, and the Netherlands, among other countries, and is priced from $6,599/ £6,099/ €6,699 for the eRIDE 920. The top model in the lineup is the Scott Voltage eRIDE 900 SL with a price tag of $12,999/ £11,899/ €12,999.
