The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 Ultra has been officially teased ahead of the company’s February 28 launch event in Barcelona. It appears on Xiaomi’s global website as part of the Xiaomi Launch February 2026, confirming that a full reveal is just days away.

The Ultra will sit above the rest of the Electric Scooter 6 lineup, which already includes the standard 6, 6 Lite, 6 Pro, and 6 Max. While Xiaomi hasn’t published the complete spec sheet yet, early listings and retailer pages give a fairly clear idea of what to expect.

More power, longer range

According to those listings, the Scooter 6 Ultra uses a 500W motor with a peak output of up to 1,200W. That should translate into stronger acceleration compared to the 6 Max, along with improved climbing ability.

Top speed is still capped at 25 km/h in most regions to comply with local regulations, but torque figures of around 45 Nm suggest it’s built to feel punchier off the line.

Battery capacity is said to be 585Wh, which could deliver up to 75 km of range under ideal conditions. Real-world numbers will likely vary depending on rider weight, terrain, and speed, but it positions the Ultra as the longest-range model in the current series.

The Ultra seems to lean slightly more toward durability than its siblings. It reportedly includes front and rear suspension, 12-inch tubeless all-terrain tires, and dual disc brakes paired with E-ABS for added stopping control.

There’s also an IPX6 water resistance rating, suggesting it should handle light rain without issue. A 3-inch TFT display shows ride data like speed and battery level.

The trade-off for all that hardware is weight. At roughly 33.7 kg, this is not a lightweight commuter scooter. It’s closer to a heavy-duty urban machine than something you’d casually carry up a flight of stairs.

Pricing and launch timing

Early reports suggest a price around €799.99, which would place it at the premium end of Xiaomi’s scooter lineup. That’s a noticeable step up from lower-tier models, but the Ultra clearly targets riders who want more range and stronger performance.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its next-generation electric scooters in Europe, and a new leak has now confirmed the full lineup, pricing, and release timeline. The company revealed the Electric Scooter 6 series last month by listing several models on its global website, but it did not share prices or launch dates at the time. A fresh report has now filled in those gaps.

The details come from Billbil-kun (via Dealabs). According to the report, Xiaomi will launch five Electric Scooter 6 models in Europe. These include the Electric Scooter 6 Lite, Electric Scooter 6, Electric Scooter 6 Pro, and Electric Scooter 6 Max, all of which were already visible online. Xiaomi is also preparing a new Electric Scooter 6 Ultra, which was not part of the initial website listing.

The Electric Scooter 6 Ultra is positioned as the most powerful and capable model in the range. It shares core upgrades found across the series, including 12-inch tires, but adds a stronger motor, longer riding range, and dual disc brakes. It also supports a higher maximum load capacity of 140 kg, making it suitable for a wider range of riders. Another notable difference is its design, as the Ultra is expected to be sold only in yellow.

The rest of the lineup is already well defined. The Electric Scooter 6 sits between the Lite and the Max. It uses a motor with 400W continuous output and up to 800W peak power, supports a top speed of 25 km/h, and can handle inclines of up to around 18 percent. It introduces 12-inch tubeless tires and front and rear suspension for better ride comfort. Its 360Wh battery delivers up to 45 km of range and supports faster charging than the previous generation.

The Electric Scooter 6 Lite focuses on short city trips. It uses a 300W motor with 500W peak output, reaches 25 km/h, and offers up to 25 km of range from a 216Wh battery. The Pro model moves up with a 400W motor rated at 1,000W peak, off-road style suspension, 12-inch tires, and a 468Wh battery rated for up to 70 km of range. The Max builds on this with up to 1,100W peak power, dual disc brakes, long travel suspension, Apple Find My support, and the same 70 km claimed range.

Pricing shows a slight increase over the previous generation. The Electric Scooter 6 Lite is expected to cost €329.99, the Electric Scooter 6 €399.99, the Pro €549.99, and the Max €649.99. The Ultra sits at the top at €799.99. Four models are expected to launch in Europe on February 10, 2026, while the Ultra is likely to arrive later.

Xiaomi has released the Electric Scooter 6 Lite, the cheapest model in its new Electric Scooter 6 lineup. It sits below the Scooter 6 and 6 Max and is designed for short city trips.

The scooter uses a Hall-effect brushless motor with 300W continuous power and 500W peak output. Top speed is 25 km/h and it can climb hills up to 15 percent. The 216 Wh ternary lithium battery gives you 25 km range in Standard mode at 15 km/h, or about 20 km in Sport mode at full speed.

For handling rough roads, it has 25 mm dual-spring front suspension and 10-inch pneumatic tires. Braking uses a front drum brake and rear E-ABS system. The front headlight is 2.5W and lights up 15 meters ahead. The rear brake light flashes when you brake.

You get three speed modes: Pedestrian at 6 km/h, Standard at 15 km/h, and Sport at 25 km/h. A display between the handlebars shows your speed, riding mode, and battery level. Connect it to the Xiaomi Home app to check range, battery status, trip history, tire pressure, lock the motor, and adjust energy recovery.

The frame is high-strength carbon structural steel and holds up to 100 kg. The scooter weighs 18.1 kg and works for riders between 140 cm and 200 cm tall, ages 16 to 50. It has IPX4 water resistance for the body and IPX6 for the battery. Folded size is 1140 x 512 x 555 mm. Xiaomi hasn’t announced the price of the Electric Scooter 6 Lite yet.

Xiaomi’s Electric Scooter 5 Plus model arrives with 12-inch tubeless tires along with front scock absorber for a more comfortable riding experience. Comparing it to the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5, Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Pro, and Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Max, the Plus variant has a wider deck and taller handlebars. Other notable features include smart headlights, brake lights, a dual braking system, traction control, and Bluetooth support that offers additional controls via the app.

This model weighs around 26.6 kilograms and has started rolling out in France and Italy for 549.99 Euros. Apart from the model number and moniker, no finer details like the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Plus were revealed in this database. But it does hint at its imminent release, particularly in the global market.

As the name suggests, it is a part of the brand’s existing electric scooter. The e-scooter will likely join the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Max and Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Pro variants. So it might be a model that is positioned between the two e-scooters. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Pro was first announced in January with a 60 kilometer range, 1000W motor, and 10 inch tires. The Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 also features the brake by wire tech and mid drive motor, but it also adds new rim decals new die-cast aluminium grab handle, improved seat ergonomics, and mirrors that match the body colors. There are 3kWh and 4kWh models with a peak power of 11kW. You also get a 242km IDC range and up to 125kmph top speed.

Ola S1 Pro+ Gen 3

Finally, we have the Ola S1 Pro+ Gen 3 is the top end model with all of the features as the more affordable models like brake by wire tech, rim decals, and others. However, it also features Dual ABS and dual tone seating design. That’s not all, you can also get it in 4kWh and 5.3kWh models with the 5.3kWh variant featuring the 4680 Bharat Cell from the Ola Gigafactory. 87.5 Miles on a single charge is actually quite impressive

The new scooter catches the eye with a futuristic yet minimalist design. Features like a vertically stacked LED headlight, naked appearance, and substructures displayed at the center highlight the scooter’s modern styling.

On the technological front, the TVS X comes with an 11-kilowatt electric motor capable of reaching speeds of up to 65 miles per hour. With three distinctive ride modes – Xealth, Xtride, and Xonic – the scooter offers versatility in performance. The battery specifications also impress, with a 4.44 kilowatt-hour pack promising 87.5 miles on a single charge, and options for fast charging.

Ola next gen electric scooter launch is right around the corner

The company’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal teased via his official Twitter handle that a new Ola electric scooter will be announced soon and will be a part of its existing S1 lineup. The teaser showcases the silhouette of the upcoming scooters. This image reveals its LED headlight design that is similar to the ones found in the older S1 electric scooter models. These new electric scooter will be officially launched in July 2023.

The new electric scooter will arrive as the brand’s “#endICEAge” show Part 1 that is scheduled for next month. Unfortunately, the senior executive only revealed the teaser image poster of the upcoming scooters and did not reveal any other finer details. But the images had also revealed the scooter featuring a small windscreen on the front as well. Keep in mind that this is all the information we have at the moment regarding this matter.

Unboxing

The INMOTION Climber is super easy to set up. Remove from the box only need to tighten the handlebar and kickstand screws can be used normally. Design

The top gear can reach 20mph, and if you go downhill, you can reach 22mph or more. The Handlebar is like pulling your body forward. Battery

The INMOTION Climber has a maximum range of about 56km / 35 miles. It takes about 9 hours to fully charge, so it is recommended that you plug the power in before going to bed. Climber features the smart Battery Management System(BMS) to constantly monitor the status of each battery cell and improve the available capacity of a battery pack. Also, it is built packed with a battery balancer in a battery pack to perform battery balancing, this can greatly increase each cell’s longevity and charge safely.

Control & APP

The whole scooter has only one button to control the whole system. Click to turn on/off the headlight, double click to switch speed gears, and long press to turn on/off the power. The function of the APP is relatively simple, mainly displaying some basic data, such as total mileage or Max speed. You can use the phone to control the headlight, you can also lock the scooter. Lock in the scooter will apply a reaction force to the forward force so that the thief is difficult to escape.

Ola Electric had previously launched the S1 series of electric scooters in India, which had propelled the company as one of the top electric scooter makers in the region. Now, it appears that the company is working on a new model from this popular series.

Looking at this tweet, the official stated that the brand is “planning something BIG for our launch this month! Will accelerate the #EndICEAge revolution by at least 2 years. Really excited.”

However, a sources close to the matter told Car and Bike, that Ola Electric is planning on launching a new affordable model in the S1 series of electric scooter. This new model will reportedly be priced under 80,000 INR. This is basically the same price range as the most popular petrol based scooters that are currently available in the Indian market. This new budget model will also offer most of the features that are found in the S1 and S1 Pro models.

For those unaware, Ola Electric had launched the S1 back in August as an affordable electric scooter, with the Pro model being a higher end variant. The S1 was launched for a price tag of 99,999 INR and offered 5.5kW motor with 8.5kw peak power. This electric scooter offered a max range of up to 141km and a top speed of 95kmph. So if this news is true, we can expect the new S1 model to have similar features.

Recently, electric two-wheelers have attracted attention for both good and bad reasons. Although electric vehicle adoption in the nation has been hampered by a significant problem, battery-powered vehicles have been at the forefront of the EV revolution. This is clearly related to the recent fire accidents involving electric scooters of different brands. Now, Komaki, an EV company with operations in India, appears to have the answer to this important problem.

This week, Komaki introduced new fireproof batteries in India as part of the solution. Beginning next month, these will be utilized in all of the company’s electric vehicles. For those who don’t know, Komaki offers a variety of electric scooters along with a few electric motorcycles in India.

The new Komaki batteries make use of the popular lithium-ion batteries, but they have a unique twist. Additionally, it has created a simple smartphone application to track battery health. The application will alert end users and dealers about the battery’s condition at any time while in use.

According to a statement from Komaki, its new EV batteries feature a configuration of lithium-ion phosphate (LiFePO4). These batteries are inherently more fire-resistant than the typical electric two-wheeler batteries. The LiFePO4 batteries’ cells’ iron content is to credit for the increased safety. The manufacturer asserts that even in dire circumstances, the batteries are more fire-proof than the competition.

Komaki also plans to reduce the number of cells in the battery pack by one-third in order to address the issue of fires. Fewer cells will result in less heat buildup inside the battery pack. As a result, Komaki asserts that its LiFePO4 batteries have a greater life cycle of 2500–3000 compared to the NMC (nickel, manganese, and cobalt) batteries’ 800 life cycle.

The fewer parts will also make it easier for original equipment makers, or OEMs, to fix the batteries in one place. This should lessen the possibility of battery damage during transit to and from repair facilities. In addition, the battery cells are balanced every few seconds by the innovative active balancing mechanism. The application will be able to analyze 250 batteries in real-time, according to business executives.

If the company’s data is to be believed, the LiFePO4 battery can go more than 300 miles on a single charge. Given what the competition now delivers, 180 kilometers on a charge for the Komaki SE and TN95 should be adequate even in real-world performance. But it’s still unclear how well the new Komaki batteries will actually function.

Despite just recently getting into the electric scooter market, Ola Electric has already become the market leader in the segment. The popular ride hailing service has managed to take the lead, even amidst backlash over recent fire related accidents of its EVs.

To take the throne, the company even overtook the former market leader Hero Electric. According to the Vaahan Portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the brand managed to sell 12,683 units of its electric scooters just last month, which marked a month on month rise of 39 percent over March 2022. Furthermore, Ola Electric has also recorded significant growth in EV sales even amid scrutiny from the government and complaints over its newly launched e-scooters.

For those unaware, we had previously reported on S1 Pro owners complaining of issues and bugs like the reverse mode. We had even covered the e-scooter catching fire in Pune and a man parading around the S1 Pro with a donkey after it stopped functioning mere days after it was purchased. The company is relatively young and had first launched the S1 Pro back in August 2021. Since then, it had seen robust orders and pre-orders for its latest release.

And despite fears of electric vehicle’s fire safety in India, the company managed to see a sharp sales rise even in the month of March 2022. On the other hand, Okinawa Autotech was the runner up in terms of sales while Hero Electric declined to the third spot after seeing a sharp fall of around 50 percent tin April 2022.

The track record of EVs (Electric Vehicles) in India isn’t looking too good with all the recent fire related accidents. And now, another major incident has just surfaced as an entire Okinawa Autotech dealership got burnt down, which is believed to be caused by an EV inside the store.

According to a 91Mobiles report, this incident has caused the company to issue a recall for its Praise Pro electric scooters. Apparently, the reason for the recall is under a fault check up and redressal service. The brand had issued a recall for 3,215 units of its EVs on 16th April 2022. The units were the Okinawa Praise Pro e-scooters, which are apparently facing an issue with their battery pack, which caused the fire related accident.

For those unaware, three of the company’s e-scooters caught fire back in October 2021. This ended up causing injuries to two people. On the other hand, the fire accident in the dealership was even more intense, but it remains to be seen how extensive the damage really was. But looking at videos shared on social media, we can assume that it is unlikely that anything was left uncharred on the inside.

The accident might have been caused by just one faulty battery but its flames ended up engulfing the entire dealership. As of right now, it was reported that there were no casualties and the fire was put out eventually. This marks another case of EVs and a fire accident in India. There could be many reasons for this accident like the poor design or thermal management system for the battery. But we have no way of knowing for sure at the moment.

The full kit with a battery pack costs Rs. 95,000 (~$1,245) and Rs. 35,000 (~$459) without the battery. The company says the battery can deliver a range of 151km on a full charge. The kit had previously received RTO approval in addition to the ARAI approval it just got.

The kit contains a 2 kW electric motor, mounted on the rear wheel hub fed by a 2.8 kWh battery pack, with a regenerative braking system. A DC-DC converter, new accelerator wiring, a key switch with controller box, and a new swingarm are also included.

The conversion will be carried out at GoGo A1’s installation workshops in 36 RTO locations in India. Customers will be able to get insurance for the converted motorbike after some documentation at the local RTO. A converted bike is issued a new green numberplate although the registration number will remain unchanged.

The outlook on this new Gogo A1 initiative is a plus to the government’s effort to significantly reduce tailpipe emissions and a growing number of Indians embracing electric vehicles. The battery pack remains a very expensive component of the conversion. It brings again to focus the challenges Indian EV manufacturers face in ensuring affordability and durability. Recent weeks have seen several electric scooter fire incidents. Most of these fires relate to overheating of the battery packs partly due to summer in the subcontinent.

Although fires in electric vehicles due to the battery pack are not unique to India alone, the recent incidence involving an electric two-wheeler has brought the discussion to the fore again. The co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, Tarun Mehta has said that many of the battery packs for electric vehicles imported into the country were not designed for Indian weather conditions.

The recent fire incident involving an e-scooter in Pune was the basis of Mehta’s statement. While there has been a spike in the production and importation of electric vehicles to India, the battery packs are mainly from China. Local EV manufacturers do not have any inputs into the battery packs that are used in these EVs. Most of these battery packs, according to the Ather CEO, are not suitable for the Indian hot weather. Average temperatures on Indian roads can hover above 45 degrees Celsius and this can create overheating of the battery pack.

Tarun Mehta also feels that the demand for high-speed electric scooters in the market could also be contributing to battery overheating issues. Powering a higher grade electric motor with the same battery pack meant for a less-powerful motor induces more thermal load on the battery. This ultimately leads to overheating and vehicle fires. Ather is however investing in the development of battery packs that are well suited for the Indian conditions.

There is a need for regulatory agencies to step up their work to ensure that only suitable battery packs are allowed in the country. There had been several fire incidents involving Okinawa products recently, and the latest incident did not have any fatalities.

Just earlier this week, we had reported on an Ola S1 Pro electric scooter catching fire in Pune, Maharashtra. Now, another e-scooter has been involved in a fiery accident, but this time its from the brand, Pure EV.

For those unaware, Pure had launched its EPluto 7G electric scooter last year. But in a new video that was uploaded on YouTube, we can see the brand’s electric scooter on fire in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The short video captured the tragic incident where we can see the scooter being engulfed in dark fumes from battery fire in a parked state on the side of the road. Notably, this incident is one of multiple other occasions where an electric scooter had faced a fire related accident.

In other words, it has raised major concerns in India regarding the thermal safety of electric scooters. With the onset of summer, the Indian subcontinent will see high temperatures across most of its states and cities. But while the peak summer is still a while away, it appears that e-scooters are already struggling in India. There have been four cases recorded since last Saturday alone, which paints a bad image for the EV industry.

In an official statement, Pure EV stated that “We are investigating the incident and will do a thorough assessment. We adhere to the highest safety standards through rigorous internal testing as well as special phase change materials being implemented in our battery packs to avoid rapid fire/blast kind of scenarios.” Keep in mind that Chennai is one of the hottest states in India that also sees high humidity as well. Thus, the Road Transport Ministry has asked the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) to investigate the two cases in the defence laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

The Okinawa Okhi90 electric scooter is billed for unveiling by Okinawa Autotech in India and the company has provided another teaser of the stunning e-scooter. Previous images of the Okhi90 had been in a camouflage mode and the latest images give a clearer picture of the e-scooter. The Okinawa Okhi90 sports a unique design, it has LED headlamps, turn indicators, and taillight, with a raked front fascia. It has a fully digital instrument cluster, a compact rider footboard, and switch gears at both handles. There is a thick grab rail at the back and the e-scooter is expected to deliver maximum comfort to its rider and passenger in all its ramifications. The power setup in the Okhi90 helps the e-scooter to accelerate from 0 to its top speed of 80km/h within seconds. While pricing information is still lacking for the Okhi90 at this time, it is expected to compete with some of the premium models currently in the market.

Yamaha has recently registered the name E01 and the EC-05. The latter is an electric scooter that was already on sale in Taiwan. Now, it seems that the company is gearing up to launch a new electric scooter in India soon.

According to a Rushlane report, the Japanese automobile maker’s first Indian market could be a max styled scooter. This will be a premium product and will probably rival the likes of the Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak. The report adds that the scooter will be equipped with a full digital LCD panel console. It will also feature Bluetooth connectivity and users will even be able to access a range of features and functions via Yamaha’s smartphone application.

As of right now, information regarding this upcoming electric scooter is still at large. Although, it is expected to offer performance that matches a 110cc petrol scooter like the Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter. Furthermore, its range may be around 70 to 80 kilometers, with a top speed of 80 and 100 kmph. It is also expected to offer multiple ride modes, which determines speed and range. Other rumored features include, LED headlight, alloys at front and rear, trendy rear view mirrors and comfy single piece seat.

With electric vehicles becoming more popular in the automobile industry, it arrives as no surprise that Yamaha also plans on launching a new electric scooter. The scooter segment is popular in India, so the company might also offer multiple ownership options. Triumph has released some stunning pictures of its sleek TE-1 electric bike prototype which is expected to offer up to 180hp power. The Triumph TE-1 seems targeted at the top echelon of the two-wheeler market and could offer stiff competition to some of the established brands in the two-wheeler segment of the EV market.

The rapid global expansion of the electric two-wheeler market has meant that established traditional power brands like the iconic Harley-Davidsons are also branching into the production of electric versions of their power bikes. The Triumph TE-1 will be the UK-based company’s first foray into the electric motorcycle market and the company plans to make a rapturous entry with the TE-1. The motorbike came to our consciousness back in 2019 when the company officially announced the model and now, the model has completed its third project phase which means a working prototype is already available.

The prototype images of the TE-1 shared by Triumph show a very beautiful and seemingly capable electric motorcycle. The images were accompanied by a short YouTube teaser of the TE-1. The beautiful sporty design of the Triumph TE-1 should be matched with the performance although specific technical details are lacking at this time.

The e-bike is rumored to pack a 180hp powertrain and this could come pricey as well. The next level of the test includes road and track testing of the TE-1, after which the final setup and calibration of the e-bike will be completed. For now, Triumph has not provided a timeline for the evolution of the TE-1 to a full commercial product for the market.

Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer Kymco has introduced its lightweight and pretty affordable e-scooter, the Like 125 EV with a range of 199km and roughly €1,200 ($1,359) price tag. Kymco Like 125 EV has a sleek look, decent ergonomics, and generally impressive features for its price. The Like 125 EV electric scooter seems a versatile addition to the Kymco two-wheeler EV repertoire, which is growing rapidly.

The Like 125 EV is pretty a lightweight scooter when compared with other models with similar specs. It weighs just 94 kg and it will be an easy driving companion for regular city commutes. Its power setup offers 4.3 horsepower and sufficient space to accommodate five Kymco’s Ionex batteries, thus giving the two-wheeler 199 km range. The Ionex is Kymo’s proprietary battery technology which can charge under an hour. The Ionex battery has a lifetime of up to 1,000 charging cycles.

The Kymco Like 125 EV bears some semblance with some of Kymco’s gas-powered models like the Like 150. There are some improvements though, including the headlamp cover, the grab handle at the back, and the headlight bezel, showing a blue finish. The Like 125 EV can connect to your smartphone via an app to access information such as battery level and speed. The digital display panel is also informative and quite expansive for the scooter’s size.

The Kymco Like 125 EV will be available in Europe and possibly Asia and parts of Central America, although there is no clear information yet on Kymco’s marketing strategy.

The first day of CES 2022 has seen several innovative and exciting exhibitions. The Chinese company, Okai is also throwing its hat into the fray with the unveiling of a new off-road standing electric scooter. The Okai ES800 sleek electric scooter is designed to operate seamlessly in difficult and rugged terrain, unlike much of its competitors. The off-road features of the Okai ES800 include full suspension, a 1,800W electric motor which allows it to reach a speed of 37 miles per hour (60 km/h) and climb 35% steep ascents.

The Okai ES800 electric scooter is unlike most of the common scooters in the market that are unable to navigate on rugged and off-road terrain due to the absence of a proper suspension for such navigation. Its 12-inch wheels provide massive comfort while driving on such difficult surfaces. However, the Okai ES800 is a bit heavier than the conventional scooters due to its off-road credentials. It has a 980 Wh battery which could offer a greater range than its competitors although Okai was silent on the vehicle’s range.

The Okai ES800 could be priced on the higher end of the price spectrum given its extensive features and possible higher driving range. The company is yet to provide any pricing details yet for the e-scooter, and its global availability details. In addition, country-specific model specs which should align with existing regulations and speed limits are also not yet out. The Okai ES800 holds some promise when it eventually debuts in the market due to its impressive off-road capabilities.

With fuel prices on a rise in India, the local Coimbatore-based Boom Motors has launched its first electric scooter in the form of Corbett 14.

Boom Motors, on Thursday, announced the launch of the new Corbett EV, which is claimed to be ‘India’s most durable’ scooter. Boom motors are offering the e-scooter in two variants, namely, the Corbett 14 and Corbett 14-EX. The base model is currently offered at Rs 86,999 ($1170), while the EX trim is going for Rs 1,19,999 ($1600 approx). Both prices are Ex-showroom.

Specs and Features

The base variant of the Boom Corbett 14 offers a range of 100km on a single charge, whereas the EX trim can travel an impressive 200 km once fully charged thanks to its 4.6 kWh battery. The EV maker claims that its portable charger can be plugged into any household socket. The charging time for both variants is between 2.5 and 4 hours (depending on whether you’re using the fast charger or the regular one). Boom also offers portable chargers for increased convenience, which you can plug into any household socket.

The EV can reach a maximum speed of 75 kmph and 65 kmph on the EX and base variant, respectively, while lugging around a maximum load of 200 kgs. The under-seat storage is limited to 30 liters.

Boom Corbett fashions a minimalist old-school moped design with barely any side body panels. It has a circular LED headlamp located below the handle, making for an even appealing design.

The e-scooter features anti-dive 4-point adjustable springs at the front and 4-point adjustable dual springs at the rear with single disk breaks at both ends, making it ideal for Indian roads.

Some additional features built into the EV include a tracking app that provides a ton of information, including petrol savings tracking, CO2 offset tracking, a parental mode for extra safety, and accident/theft detection.

Pricing and Availability

As mentioned above, the base model is currently offered at Rs 86,999 ($1170), while the EX trim is going for Rs 1,19,999 ($1600 approx). However, the company states that these prices are introductory and are set to go up by Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 for the base model and the EX variant, respectively. Boom Corbett also claims to be the first e-scooter to come with a 5-year EMI on vehicle purchase which, according to the company, reduces the EMI rates to as low as Rs 1,699.

Bookings for the electric scooter have already commenced online at a token amount of Rs 499 with deliveries expected to start from January 2022.

The latest rumor regarding the Chinese smartphone brand entering the EV market arrives from RushLane, who spotted a trademark from the company. Previously, we had also reported on brands like Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo, and even Huawei diversifying into the automobile market, and now it appears that another Chinese brand is joining this category as well. The company has filed a new trademark in India under the “vehicles, apparatus for locomotion by land, air or water.”

Notably, its former parent company, Oppo, had recently also unveiled its Carlink Smart Car solution while Xiaomi had revealed its 10 billion US Dollar investment for its electric vehicle project earlier this year. So, it doesn’t arrive as a complete surprise that Realme is also considering opportunities in the EV market. This trademark was filed by Realme Mobile Telecommunications (Shenzhen) Co Ltd back when it had first launched its first smartphone in the Indian market.

India is one of the emerging market for electric vehicles, with scooters and motorcycles in particular. So, RushLane believes that an electric scooter from the company might be in the works for the Indian market. Keep in mind that this is still just a trademark and does not officially confirm the brand’s entry into the market, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now. However, looking at the recent success of Ola Electric scooter in the region, other brands could possibly follow up with their own offerings.

Ola has just shared figures of the reservation of its new electric scooter. The ride sharing based firm stated that it has brought in over 100,000 reservations within just the first 24 hours.

The company claims that these figures make the electric scooter the most pre booked scooter in the world. Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO of Ola stated that “I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle. The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility. I thank all the consumers who have booked the Ola Scooter and have joined the EV revolution. This is only the beginning!”

For those interested, you can also reserve the Ola scooter for 499 INR (roughly 6.7 US Dollars) on the company’s official OlaElectric website. Talking about the vehicle, the Ola electric scooter has been made in India and features a twin pod LED headlamp with an LED strip running around it. The company had also added that this scooter will also offer the largest boot space segment in this segment.

Chinese electric scooter manufacturer NIU is fast carving a niche for itself in its dominance of the electric scooter market. It has now drawn comparisons with Tesla, the leader of the global EV market. The Beijing-based company has continued to post impressive results both in its home market and internationally.

The recently released NIU sales statistics for Q2 2021 and the H1 2021 figures show an impressive performance year on year for the company. With 252,998 new electric scooters sold in Q2 2021, this was a 58% growth from Q2 2021. Similarly, the first-half results for 2021 also showed that NIU sold 402,647 scooters, representing a massive 101% increase year on year. The tremendous half-year growth rate was due mainly to the coronavirus pandemic, leading to a lockdown across several countries in 2020. At the same time, the home market of China accounts for a chunk of the customers.

To put the impressive performance of NIU in proper perspective, the company has sold as many e-scooters as Tesla sells cars globally. The energy requirements of e-scooters are significantly lower than that of electric vehicles, and NIU could post significantly higher numbers by the year’s end, going by its solid trajectory for several years thus far.

NIU is growing its repertoire of electric mobility solutions with an expanded focus from its initial plans, which targeted mid- and high-speed electric scooters for premium users. An electric motorcycle could be released by NIU later this year. The NIU electric standing scooter, released earlier in the year, has decent reception in China.

NIU will hope to cement its dominance of the electric scooter market for entry-level, mid-, and high-end products. The international market is still very open for a massive expansion by the Chinese brand.

The demand for electric scooters has seen an upward spike in recent years, accentuated by several factors including a desire for an increasing number of persons to embrace green choices by reducing their carbon footprint, the chaotic traffic situation in many cities, and the COVID-19 crisis. These e-scooters, though come with their own challenges on the road, especially collisions with pedestrians, leading to injuries for both the rider and pedestrian.

In response to the sometimes rising incidence of collisions, e-scooter manufacturers are now embracing artificial intelligence (AI) technology to essentially transform the e-scooter into a smart and responsive scooter. A Swedish company called Voi, in collaboration with Luna from the Republic of Ireland, is developing a system of cameras and sensors that uses AI to correctly identify what surface a scooter is riding on, as well as the presence of nearby pedestrians. It then uses the information in real-time to alert the rider or even take some actions to prevent the impending collision. It could slow down the speed, make an audible sound prompt, and so on.

Vio has begun trials of the Luna technology fitted e-scooters in parts of England and the outcome has been quite impressive. The company hopes to scale up the trial process to cover more cities, as it insists that the AI algorithm is capable of being adapted to new cities.

It should be noted that Vio is not the only company developing smart solutions to the problem of e-scooter collisions. However, experts believe that incorporating such technology into the micro-mobility systems as the e-scooters come with their challenges including prohibitive costs that may make the e-bike unaffordable for a huge segment of its present users.

The development of systems to make the e-scooter responsive to threats within its environment remains however a great leap in their development.

The frame/body of the Lenovo M2 is built from an aluminum alloy structure that is also rated for IP54 protection. The body of the electric scooter can support weights of about 120 kilograms.

Being made from a light alloy, the weight of the Lenovo M2 electric scooter is less than 15 kilograms. Furthermore, it is equipped with an LED control panel, which displays the current speed, power, gear, and other statuses as well. The scooter is equipped with lithium batteries and one can even check the status of the battery through the WeChat app companion.

Looking at the official images, the Lenovo M2 follows a minimalistic design with gray themes and a red lining on the insides of the wheel. It sports a standard electric scooter look and is even built with portability n mind, thanks to it being able to fold inward from the front wheel.

Xiaomi Youpin’s official Weibo page has shared a teaser which points to the launch of what looks like an electric scooter. The product is manufactured by Xiaomi’s eco-chain company 70Mai. The brand is best known for its range of smart dashcam and rearview mirrors. The teasers show the product will be launched on March 26 in China.

70 Mai had earlier released a poster which sought to know the feature fans want to see on their electric scooters. The options include keyless ignition, voice command as well as recording function. A sketch of a scooter indeed confirms it is a related product. We can’t say for sure if it will be an electric scooter as other posters have been shared which seems to suggest the product may just be a multifunctional smart display for an e-scooter.

All the same, the display may be the intuitive display that will be on the scooter. The display is shown to support XiaoAI voice assistance, navigation and touch functions. It also supports 4G. In one of the pictures, we can see the handlebar and front wheel of a scooter.

However, the posters tease the display more than the scooter so, it may just be a smart touchscreen display with several functions. Whatever the product will be, 70Mai has got a good record so we expect it to be an awesome product.
