Huawei announced a new Emotion UI version 5.0 based on Android Nougat around November last year and the new user interface made its debut onboard the Huawei Mate 9 flagship. As usual other Huawei smartphones are expected to get upgrades to the new  interface as time goes on.

Huawei did recently release a time table that shows when it will push upgrades to EMUI 5.0 in China. The time-table shows earlier models like the Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus and others had started receiving upgrades to the beta version since November last year. While the full upgrade should have started rolling from January 6, 2017. Some models like the G9 Plus, Huawei Nova, Honor 6X, Honor Note 8 and M3 tablet would start getting their full upgrades between March and May 2017, according to the schedule.

Huawei recently released a poster on its EMUI Weibo page that announces that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will receive full upgrades to EMUI 5.0 before the Spring Festival which is just few days away. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus have already started receiving beta upgrades since November which is usually for a few beta testers. But with this latest teaser, all owners of the P9 and P9 Plus would get the upgrade pushed to their smartphones before the Spring Festival. The company also hinted those who want to be among the first to get the upgrade can do so directly via the Mobile phone service app which has now been renamed Member Services app.

We reported last week that China’s current top selling manufacturer, Huawei, has a launch event scheduled for September 1. While most people are expecting the launch of the Huawei Mate 9 and or the Mate S2, one of the company’s executives has said in an interview that the phone will not be from the Mate series but a new series entirely aimed at the mid-range market.

While he didn’t reveal any other details about the new device (that will spoil the surprise), he did mention that in about 2 months, the company will release new phones for the Mate line and a new Emotion UI.

Now that we know the phone launching on Thursday is not a Mate, it means that the earlier rumour of a new series called Nova might just be true. The new series is said to be targeted at the female folk and for the launch, the company has invited Chinese actress,  Guan Xiaotong to speak.

Huawei sends out invites for their next product launch, which is slated to showcase on 4th of next month. After it’s success with honor series they have turned back to upgrade it’s phablets portfolio with this launch.

From this invite one can guess that this phone in equipped with biometric sensor(fingerprint scanner). The company though leaked pictures representing 7 so it is clear that it might be a phablet with codenamed Ascend mate 7 . This proves to be company’s next flagship.

The phone boasts a 6inch QHD or FHD display, it wil have company’s own Kirin 920 octa-core processor, 13MP rear camera,  and 5MP front one. The standard connectivity features and Android KITKAT with Emotion UI on top.
