The phone was unveiled at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 in January. At the launch event of Honor 6X, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> had confirmed that the phone would be getting Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5 by the second quarter of the year. The company has now successfully fulfilled its promise by beginning the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat update with EMUI 5.0 starting from May 2.</p>
<p>Since the update rollout has started, it would be gradually coming to all the global users of Honor 6X by the end of this month. The EMUI 5.0 update is a major update over EMUI 4.1 as it carries design changes and new features. Its interface is mostly white and has lots of black and blue colors as well instead of the teal colors available in the previous version.</p>
<p>The EMUI 5.0 also brings along an improved interface for Camera app, a new app drawer, revamped notification bar and a new mode called “Eye comfort” that comforts the eyes by filtering the blue light emitted from the screen. App Twin is a new app on EMUI 5.0 that allows users to add launch two versions of the same app for accessing different accounts simultaneously.</p>

<p>The arrival of the update will show up as automatic notification on Honor 6X handsets. If the update does not appear automatically, users can navigate manually to Settings &gt; About Phone &gt; Check for Updates. Since the update can consume a lot of data, it is advisable to install the update using a stable Wi-Fi connection.</p>
<p>The unlocked Honor 6X is currently selling with a pricing of $249 in the U.S. which can be used only on GSM networks such as AT&amp;T and T-Mobile. The phone was launched in China in October 2016. The phone is available in color choices such as Gray, Silver and Gold. In the previous month, Huawei had introduced two new color variants for Honor 6X that can be seen in the above image.</p>

Honor has now also confirmed through a tweet that the rollout of the update would begin starting Feb. 11.</p>
<p>It had released the beta edition of Android 7.0 Nougat update for the users of Honor 8 in the U.K. in November 2016, but now the update is confirmed to release by tomorrow. Since it is a global release, the software rollout will be a gradual process which means all the Honor 8 users will not receive the update at the same time.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">EMUI 5.0 is coming to Honor 8 from Feb 11th! Check out the new App Drawer on EMUI 5! Excited? <a href="https://t.co/aH8oKwqOK6">https://t.co/aH8oKwqOK6</a></p>

<p>The rollout of the update would last the entire month and all the Honor 8 users across the world are expected to get the update by the end of February. Since the Honor 8 users in the U.K. were the first ones to get the beta build of Nougat, it is likely that it may be the first country to get the finished update as well. Honor 8 users in the U.S. are also expected to get the update from Feb. 11 as the tweet originates from Honor USA Twitter handle.</p>
<p>The Honor 8 Android 7.0 Nougat also brings along the latest EMUI 5.0 skin that not only responds well but also delivers optimized performance along with improvements to the battery performance. It also carries a neat appeal. The firmware update also installs the new features of Android Nougat such as split-screen multitasking, access to app drawer through home screen and Doze on the Go.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2017/01/18/samsung-android-7-0-nougat-update-news-list-eligible-smartphones-revealed/samsung-android-7-0-nougat/" rel="attachment wp-att-115714"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115714" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Samsung-Android-7.0-Nougat.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Android 7.0 Nougat" width="752" height="490" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Samsung-Android-7.0-Nougat.jpg 752w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Samsung-Android-7.0-Nougat-300x195.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px" /></a></p>
<p>Huawei had disclosed during CES 2017 that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-6x/">Honor 6X</a> would get an upgrade to Android 7 Nougat and EMUI 5 later in Q2 of this year without fixing a definitive time frame. However, a recent mail sent out by Huawei has revealed that the Honor 6X would soon get the Nougat treatment, specifically in March. If this happens, it would be a lot ahead of the scheduled time frame for the upgrade.</p>

<p>Despite getting the upgrade over a year after Google unveiled its latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the Honor 6X would still make it as one of the early birds to get the operating system infused into it. According to Google, as of January 9th, only 0.7% of Android devices were running Nougat. The latest OS onboard the 6X would increase the standing of the mid-ranger which also comes with a dual-lens camera at the rear. The device is presently available for $249 in the US, while it launched with a $149 price tag in China.</p>

While the 6X is actually a phone released in 2016, this new device spotted on TENAA can be said to be one of their new devices for 2017.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The phone with model number “WAS-AL00” looks like a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/honor-8">Honor 8</a> but lacks the dual rear cameras and laser focus module, and has a square-shaped fingerprint scanner. The corners of the device are rounded and you have Huawei&#8217;s logo sitting close to the bottom and on the lower bezel in front.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115974" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei WAS AL00 tenaa 4" width="480" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa-4.jpg 480w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa-4-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115978" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei WAS AL00 tenaa" width="610" height="344" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Huawei-WAS-AL00-tenaa-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The specs on TENAA says the device will have a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Kirin processor clocked at 2.1GHz, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. It will also have a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP shooter in front. Under the hood is a 2900mAh battery while the OS is Android Nougat 7.0 with Huawei&#8217;s EMUI 5.0 overlay.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The phone&#8217;s dimensions are 146.5 x 72 x 7.2 mm and it weighs 146g. It also supports LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 8, 38, 39, 40, and 41.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The specs point at a device that is either mid-range or budget high-end like the Honor 8, so we presume pricing should probably not exceed $400.</p>

<p>Huawei did recently release a time table that shows when it will push upgrades to EMUI 5.0 in China. The time-table shows earlier models like the Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus and others had started receiving upgrades to the beta version since November last year. While the full upgrade should have started rolling from January 6, 2017. Some models like the G9 Plus, Huawei Nova, Honor 6X, Honor Note 8 and M3 tablet would start getting their full upgrades between March and May 2017, according to the schedule.</p>

<p style="text-align: left" align="center">Huawei recently released a poster on its EMUI Weibo page that announces that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will receive full upgrades to EMUI 5.0 before the Spring Festival which is just few days away. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus have already started receiving beta upgrades since November which is usually for a few beta testers. But with this latest teaser, all owners of the P9 and P9 Plus would get the upgrade pushed to their smartphones before the Spring Festival. The company also hinted those who want to be among the first to get the upgrade can do so directly via the Mobile phone service app which has now been renamed Member Services app.</p>

Judging from the info from Huawei Japan, the update will start rolling out as from Monday, 16th of January.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Like any other update, this will also be rolled out in stages, so if you do not get the update on Monday, you should receive it in the following days as long as you are in Japan.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-88074" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8.jpg?x44794" alt="Honor 8" width="610" height="308" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-300x151.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Honor 8 owners in North America might have to still wait till February for their update though. The update comes in at a whooping 1.97GB which is pretty heavy to be honest. Honor Japan advises that you back up your data and have at least 50% battery available before you commence the update.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The update will bring all the cool new features in Nougat such as split-screen multitasking and some new EMUI features like App Twin and Private Space. There is no mention of what version of security patch level will come with it but it should at least be December seeing as Google devices got the January security patch less than 2 weeks ago.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-89288 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04.jpg?x44794" alt="Honor 8 official 04" width="1920" height="819" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04-300x128.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04-768x328.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04-1024x437.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Honor-8-official-04-1175x500.jpg 1175w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Honor 8 runs Android Marshmallow out of the box but there is a beta version of Nougat for it available for those willing to try it out. But if you prefer the final and stable release, you might not have to wait for too long as Huawei has announced that the Honor 8 will be getting updated to Android Nougat in February 2017 which is technically just a month away since this month is sort of over already.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Nougat update will also see the phone get the new EMUI 5.0 skin which brings new features such as the option to choose between using an app drawer or not. It will also come with a feature called Private Space which allows you to create a second section on your phone for private apps and files; and another feature called App Twin that lets you setup two Facebook and Whatsapp accounts on the same phone.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The Honor 8 is a 5.2-inch device with a 1080p display, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, a Kirin 950 SoC, dual 12MP cameras at the back, an 8MP camera in front, and a 3000mAh battery under the hood. It is priced between $275 to $290 for the 32GB version and $340 to $370 for the 64GB model.</p>

Oppomart ships orders to any location globally so this isn&#8217;t a China-exclusive offer but one you can catch in on from wherever you are worldwide. What&#8217;s surprising is that the Mate 9 was launched in Munich, Germany a couple of weeks back clutching a massive $775 price tag for the same version.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/01/huawei-mate-9-pro-specifications-outed-fresh-leak/huawei-mate-9-real-3/" rel="attachment wp-att-105368"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105368" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The thing is the Mate 9 was again launched earlier this week in China, Huawei&#8217;s home country. Even though the specifications with Europe&#8217;s Mate 9 were similar, the device came in with a cheaper price tag than the one announced in Europe. You&#8217;ll agree it won&#8217;t be a bad idea to catch in on this cheap offer from Oppomart while it lasts. That is if you are very much interested in the sleek and well studded Mate 9.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/15/beautiful-huawei-mate-9-mate-9-pro-ceramic-white-rose-gold-images/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4/" rel="attachment wp-att-106860"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106860" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>There is nothing to worry about as the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9/">Huawei Mate 9 </a>on offer comes with Full network support globally, including the 4G LTE global bands. So users will enjoy consistent call quality and a stable Internet connection with reduced power consumption and data usage around the globe. The Huawei Mate 9 as would be recalled, sports a mammoth 5.9-inch display and is powered by the latest Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset which has been discovered to be way ahead of all the chip models around presently. The device doesn&#8217;t disappoint not only in the internals but also in the camera zone, packing a dual camera setup at the rear comprised of a 20MP + 12MP sensors. There is also a large 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharger despite the power efficient Kirin 960. So what you get is a powerful device which exerts less strain on the battery.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/14/huawei-releases-three-models-china-mate-9-mate-9-pro-mate-9-porsche-design/huawei-mate-9-series/" rel="attachment wp-att-106702"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106702" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-MAte-9-series.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-mate-9-series" width="610" height="203" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-MAte-9-series.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-MAte-9-series-300x100.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>On top of all these, the Mate 9 runs an all new Android Nougat-based EMUI 5.0 with cool interface and attractive features onboard. Just like an old wine, Huawei touts the device as getting better and more efficient with time. Even at that, Oppomart still offers a one year warranty if you buy the Mate 9 and it covers repairs if need be. How about that?</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><div class="su-button-center"><a href="http://www.oppomart.com/huawei/mate9/huawei-mate-9.html" class="su-button su-button-style-default su-button-wide" style="color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#2d8ef1;border-color:#2472c1;border-radius:0px" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="color:#FFFFFF;padding:0px 26px;font-size:20px;line-height:40px;border-color:#6cb0f6;border-radius:0px;text-shadow:2px 2px 2px #000000"> Buy Huawei Mate 9 For $599 From OppoMart</span></a></div>

<p style="text-align: justify">Reports of a new version was first mentioned months ago when leaks were posted on Weibo by @kjuma and was even expected to launch at <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/IFA/">IFA</a> Berlin.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The new UI will probably be the overlay on the new phone. It is said to be closer to stock android, be more colourful and will come with some new features such as an app drawer, redesigned and customizable virtual keys, and an overall simpler interface. Battery performance and phone manager are also expected to be better when the new UI launches.</p>

This is coming on the heels of the imminent release of the device scheduled for <strong>November 3</strong>, just two days away.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-3-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105370" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-3.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-3.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-3-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The leaked renders were spotted on Finnish website <a href="http://suomimobiili.fi/suomimobiili-paljastaa-naissa-live-kuvissa-esiintyy-huawei-mate-9/" target="_blank">SuomiMobiili</a> and they reveal the device just fresh out of the box. One notable thing that could be observed from the working Mate 9 is the black bother at the edge of the display but it is not very wide. The render shows the Mate 9 bearing striking resemblance with the Mate 8 with just some slight difference.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-2-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105369" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-2.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-2.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The leak is that of a flat screen Mate 9, perhaps one of the two versions touted to feature on the Mate 9. The Mate 9 is also touted as featuring a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/10/12/fresh-huawei-mate-9-leaks-two-designs-curved-display/">dual-edge curved display version code-named Long Island</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-5/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105372" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-5.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-5.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-5-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>At the rear, the dual Leica cameras could be seen seated at the upper edge of the device, aligned centrally. The dual Leica rear cameras would likely be one of the major marketing tool of the Mate 9 and Huawei has ensured that the Leica footprint is inscribed in between the two rear sensors.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-4/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105371" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-4.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-4.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-4-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The Mate 9&#8217;s LED flash and laser focus module could be seen located at both sides of the cameras. Also, lying under the camera set up is the the rear mounted fingerprint sensor. It&#8217;s worthy to note though, that the curved display version is rumored to have a front fingerprint sensor in addition to the rear mounted one.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-6/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105373" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-6.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-6.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-6-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

<p>As a reminder, the Huawei Mate 9 would come powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset and would sport a 5.9-inch 1080 pixels display while the curved screen version is saod to have a 2K resolution on its display. There is a 6GB RAM on board on the top version, along with a large storage of 256GB. There is also a base version with 4GB RAM and 32GB as well as 64GB internal storage versions. The device is also listed to run on EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The device is also said to pack a 12MP + 20MP sensor at the dual Leica rear cameras.</p>
