ASUS has unveiled a special-edition gaming mouse to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. Called the ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20, the new mouse was introduced at Computex Taipei 2026 and combines esports-grade performance with a premium collector-focused design.

Premium Design With 24K Gold Accents

The anniversary edition is based on the ROG Harpe II Extreme launched in late 2025, but features a unique semi-transparent black shell and a 24K gold-plated internal metal frame. ASUS has also added gold-colored side buttons, a gold scroll wheel, and gold-accented mouse feet.

A special engraving reading “ROG 06 ←→ ∞” appears on the left mouse button, highlighting the brand’s 20-year milestone. Despite its premium construction, the mouse weighs just 82g. ASUS also uses Corning Gorilla Glass mouse feet for smoother movement and improved durability.

Built for Competitive Gaming

Under the hood, the ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 packs ASUS’ AimPoint Pro 65K optical sensor. The sensor supports up to 65,000 DPI, tracking speeds of 800 IPS, and 70G acceleration.

The mouse uses ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless technology, delivering up to an 8,000Hz polling rate and wireless latency as low as 0.2ms. ASUS has also equipped it with ROG 100M optical switches rated for up to 100 million clicks.

Price and Availability

The ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 is priced at $259.99. Sales begin on June 2, 2026, through Best Buy and Newegg, while Amazon and Micro Center will start offering the mouse from July 19, 2026. ASUS says the model will be available only through the end of 2026 as part of a limited anniversary production run.

Esports is being officially recognized by the Indian government. The term basically means video games that are played on a competitive level with spectators and are finally being recognized as an actual sport.

Esports finally recognized as a sports in India.#esports #indianesports #sports #teamindia #india @rashtrapatibhvn @narendramodi @narendramodi @ianuragthakur @KirenRijiju @NisithPramanik @Rajeev_GoI @WeAreTeamIndia @IndiaSports @Media_SAI pic.twitter.com/k6qlMZ00rE
— Esports Federation of India (@esfindia) December 27, 2022

The Department of Sports under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will now also be authorized for the esports category. As per official notes, video games will also be recognized as a competitive spectator sport since athletes also use their physical and mental abilities to compete with one another in varying genres of games. This marks a major shift since the Indian Esports Industry has pushed for such an official recognition for a while now.

So now, competitive gaming will have a lot more depth to their structure since the umbrella term of “Gaming” will also be included in the official multi sports sections. Thus, all tournaments will also be treated with the same gravity as any other form of physical competition. Furthermore, this move will also help create a more budding environment around esports and also push the gaming industry in the region. India has already hosted the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games, and now, they can finally be a great competitor in the esports category as well.

According to Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India & Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), “Great news for us to begin the New Year. We have been constantly working on establishing the difference between esports and iGaming, and finally, our efforts have been fulfilled. We welcome this announcement by our government under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Modi ji, which will open new avenues to pour in more investment opportunities in this booming industry.”

Xu Xianyue, the CEO of the Chinese electronics maker, stated that the brand is still focusing on launching high end smartphones for the esports centric market. This statement arrives just prior to the launch of the the new ROG Phone 6, which will be its latest flagship gaming smartphone. Notably, the CEO stated that ASUS is a known figure in the esports industry and its smartphones also have a high market share in the segment.

Talking about the upcoming ROG Phone 6, it will feature top notch specifications like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC as well as high 165Hz refresh rate as well. Over the existing base Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the new chip offers improvements in both CPU and GPU performance. In other words, this handset will basically be one of the most powerful gaming phones in the market.

Despite offering a 10 percent rise in CPU and GPU performance, the new chip would also offer better power efficiency as well. Meaning, one would be able to get better performance and even longer battery life with the upcoming ROG Phone 6. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.

The device is the latest flagship grade handset from the company and sports top notch specs and features like HyperBoost technology that make it great for mobile gaming.

For those unaware, the HyperBoost technology is an AI based algorithm that is designed to make games run smoother and stabler. The Chinese brand claimed that it took 2 years to develop and enables the 10 Pro to offer higher frames by tweaking the graphics fidelity without compromising on performance. Furthermore, it even improves GPU computing efficiency by 36 percent. With its O-Sync feature, the device can even be overclocked to lower the latency between the input via the display and the action being taken within a game.

Notably, the OnePlus 10 Pro is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is the chip that enables it to be a great gaming phone. This chipset offers a number of improvements over the last gen Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, the best bump in performance is in the GPU department, which is improved significantly in the new chipset.

Both the smartphone maker and the studio behind Peace Elite have made the announcement earlier this week on their respective Weibo accounts (a Chinese microblogging website). So now, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the official smartphone for the PEL Peace Elite Professional League in 2022. With OnePlus always being an active brand in the esports industry, the PEL 2022 partnership arrives as no surprise.

The club is yet to officially announce a roster for its League of Legends team. The expected announcement of the team members will come sooner or later.

The organization mentioned the reason for entering League of Legends as its next E-sports venture stating, “On entering this tournament, FC Barcelona is strengthening their commitment to esports, a strategic sector for the Club, which they first entered two years ago with the aim of developing a strong profile.”

League of Legends is a strategy game in which two teams of five players face off and compete to complete objectives, and finally the two best teams compete in the Superliga. The current champion is Vodafone Giants, who beat UCAM Esports Club in the final on 12th August in Barcelona.

FC Barcelona is not a novice in esports as it has teams competing at Rocket league, a game that combines cars and football, PES 2020, using Konami’s famous soccer simulation and Hearthstone. With this new team, the club aims to diversify its presence, with the intention of taking the Barca brand to countries like China and the United States of America.

The information arrives from Omdia (Via GameDeveloper) who also noted that the highest income changed from the US to China in the past five years. Back in 2018, the US ranked first, while China and South Korea came in second and third respectively. But as of 2019, the China has surpassed the US in terms of Esports revenue, with South Korea arriving third, Germany ranking fourth, and Britain holding the fifth spot.

Furthermore, Omdia also shared its projection for the Esports industry till the year 2025. It believes that the top five countries accounted for 73 percent of the global Esports revenue in 2020, although, this share will drop to 69 percent as lower ranked countries slowly increase their market share in the industry thank to the expansion of high speed networks.

Notably, iResearch, a Market research and consultancy based firm, shared their 2021 China Esports Industry Report back in May 2021, which shared the overall market size of China’s Esports industry. The report believed that the market will surpass 145 billion Yuan (roughly 22.5 billion US Dollars) in 2020. The largest contributor to this is the rapid growth of the mobile Esports gaming market. This figure is expected to surpass 180 billion Yuan within this year.

The pair had first established contact with each other online last month, according to local news reports.

Alves Costa who bears the online name “Flashlight” allegedly stabbed Miss Oliveira Bueno da Silva with a knife repeatedly after she arrived at his home located in Pirituba, north of São Paulo. The accused is reported to have confessed to the crime in a video which he recorded with his smartphone and shared on some WhatsApp group chats including one for his clan. He also shared images of the deceased before leaving the crime scene.

However, the 18-year-old later submitted himself to law enforcement agents after the clan leadership alerted the appropriate authorities. The alleged murderer even insists that his mental health was “completely fit” and he “wanted to do this,” according to a statement by São Paulo’s State Department of Public Security.

The mental health of the accused will likely be accessed to determine if he isn’t insane. No sane person will stab his fellow over video games. Or wait, there is precedence. In May 2010, a French gamer, Julien Barreaux, 20, hunted his rival for seven months and killed him for killing his character in the game Counter-Strike the previous November.

Also, in 2018, two professional video gamers were killed by a distraught rival player who was angry he lost at an eSports tournament in Florida. The shooter who had a history of mental illness later turned the gun on himself.
