The Exynos 2400 is a powerful chipset, featuring a high-performance 10-core CPU and Xclipse 940 GPU for advanced visual rendering. Announced last year, this Samsung-made chipset already powers many Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite, on the other hand, is Qualcomm’s flagship powerhouse, rocking a robust 8-core Oryon CPU and a powerful Adreno 830 GPU. It’s the most popular choice for premium smartphones. So, how do these two high-performance chips stack up against each other? Let’s break down the benchmark scores and look at real-world differences to find out.

AnTuTu benchmark

The Snapdragon 8 Elite shows a clear advantage over the Exynos 2400 in AnTuTu, posting a total score of 2,209,476 compared to 1,712,489 — a gap of about 29% overall performance.

Looking deeper, Qualcomm’s chip leads in every category. The CPU score is about 42% higher (574,518 vs 405,345), meaning faster performance in demanding workloads and multitasking. The GPU score tells an even bigger story, with the Snapdragon at 842,351 versus the Exynos’s 662,563 — a 27% boost that translates directly into smoother gaming and stronger graphical rendering.

Memory (437,621 vs 350,139) and UX (354,986 vs 294,442) also favor the Snapdragon 8 Elite, reflecting quicker app loads, better responsiveness, and a more fluid user experience. Overall, while the Exynos 2400 shows big improvements over its predecessors, the Snapdragon 8 Elite sits firmly ahead in raw benchmark performance.

Geekbench benchmark

On Geekbench, the performance gap between the two chips becomes even more apparent. The Snapdragon 8 Elite scores 3,179 in single-core and 10,114 in multi-core, while the Exynos 2400 reaches 2,016 and 6,683, respectively.

That gives Qualcomm a huge 57% advantage in single-core performance, which directly impacts everyday responsiveness, app launch, and UI fluidity. In multi-core performance, the gap is slightly smaller but still significant, with the Snapdragon leading by about 51%. This means it handles multitasking, heavy workloads, and demanding apps much more efficiently.

While the benchmarks clearly show the Snapdragon 8 Elite leading in performance, they don’t tell the whole story. Other important factors like camera features, connectivity, and more matter too (more on that below).

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite: Key differences

Performance

Manufacturing:

The Exynos 2400 is built using Samsung’s 4nm process, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite uses TSMC’s advanced 3nm process. The latter is more power-efficient and offers better performance.

CPU:

The Exynos 2400 features a 10-core CPU that we don’t see often in smartphone chips. It includes one Cortex-X4 prime core, five Cortex-A720 performance cores, and four Cortex-A520 power efficiency cores.

On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Elite features two fewer CPU cores, but the eight Oryon cores easily outperform the Exynos 2400 chip. The higher CPU speed provides an additional performance boost to the Snapdragon chip.

GPU:

The Exynos 2400 features an Xclipse 940 GPU built on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture, promising significantly better performance. It supports second-generation ray tracing for a more realistic and immersive gaming experience.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is equipped with an Adreno 830 GPU, which is 40% faster and 40% more efficient than its predecessor. It also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and comes with a full suite of Snapdragon Elite Gaming Features, which includes Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0, and Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0.

On the plus side, the Exynos 2400 features more pipelines and higher floating-point operations per second (FLOPS). The Snapdragon chip benefits from higher peak speed and shading units.

NPU:

Both chipsets feature powerful NPUs that are a major upgrade over previous generations. These NPUs enable advanced on-device AI features, which enhance the camera, boost gaming performance, improve voice processing, and allow for the creation of personalized content, among other benefits.

Camera

Both chips support up to 320MP camera and 8K recording, but they bring notable differences. The Exynos 2400 can shoot with up to four cameras at the same time and leverages noise reduction to improve low-light scenes. Additionally, it supports real-time semantic segmentation, which is also available on the Snapdragon chip.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite has an AI ISP that closely works with the NPU to improve how images and videos are captured and processed in real-time. The AI also works with auto-focus, auto-exposure, and noise reduction. The chip enables simultaneous recording from three cameras (up to 48MP) at 30 FPS or a single 108MP camera at 30 FPS, with noise reduction and zero shutter lag.

Besides great hardware, the Snapdragon chip also offers many useful camera features, including Truepic photo capture, Video super resolution, Computational HDR with staggered imaged sensors, and the Bokeh Engine (version 2).

Connectivity

The Exynos 2400 chipset delivers higher peak download speeds (12.1Gbps vs. 10Gbps) and upload speeds (3.67Gbps vs. 3.5Gbps) on a 5G network. Over a Wi-Fi 7 connection, the Snapdragon chip achieves a peak speed of 5.8Gbps.

On the plus side, the Snapdragon 8 Elite supports the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard (vs. Wi-Fi 6 on the Exynos 2400) and advanced Bluetooth connectivity (v6.0 vs v5.3). Additionally, the Snapdragon chip offers a range of features to enhance connection stability, performance, and power efficiency.

The Exynos 2400 is undoubtedly a major step forward for Samsung, with solid performance gains, impressive AI and camera capabilities, and excellent 5G speeds. It’s a competitive Exynos chip from Samsung, and a worthy choice for many flagship devices.

But when it comes to overall performance, the Snapdragon 8 Elite still holds the upper hand. Whether it’s benchmark scores, CPU architecture, GPU muscle, or real-world responsiveness, Qualcomm’s flagship chip consistently pulls ahead. Add to that its cutting-edge 3nm process, faster and more efficient GPU, advanced AI ISP, and superior connectivity options, and the gap becomes even more apparent.

So, while the Exynos 2400 delivers respectable power and solid features across the board, the Snapdragon 8 Elite remains the top-tier choice for users who demand the absolute best performance and innovation from their smartphones.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Exynos 2400: Geekbench 6 CPU Test

The Geekbench 6 test measures the CPU capabilities of devices. The test outputs single-core and multi-core scores. The single-core test evaluates the performance of a single CPU core, and the multi-core test shows the combined performance of all CPU cores working together.

For this test, we took the Galaxy S24+ (powered by Exynos 2400) and Galaxy S24 Ultra (powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) to minimize the differences caused by software optimizations.

The Galaxy S24+ managed to pull off 2,074 points in the single-core test and 6,616 points in the multi-core test. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra scored 2,219 points in the single-core test and 6,741 points in the multi-core test.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra has outperformed the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24+ in single-core as well as muti-core tests on Geekbench. In other words, this means the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a more powerful CPU than the Exynos 2400, as per Geekbench.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Exynos 2400: AnTuTu 10

AnTuTu is another popular benchmarking platform that measures CPU, GPU, memory, and UX performance. Again, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra is ahead of the Galaxy S24+ powered by Exynos 2400.

In the CPU test on the AnTuTu 10 platform, the Galaxy S24+ scored 413,360 points, whereas the Galaxy S24 Ultra scored 437,464 points. The S24+ has a GPU score of 617,368, which is 650,004 for the S24 Ultra. Memory is another important metric, where the S24+ scored 329,760 points, whereas the S24 Ultra stands at 360,619 points.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra has outperformed the Galaxy S24+ in the UX test as well on the AuTuTu benchmark.

Geekbench favored the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the CPU test, and the AnTuTu results showed a faster GPU and memory than the Exynos 2400.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Exynos 2400: 3D Mark GPU Test

3D Mark is one of the best benchmarks for evaluating device GPU performance. In the Wild Life test, the Galaxy S24 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) scored 18,182 points, while the Galaxy S24 (Exynos 2400) couldn’t even touch the 15,000 mark (it scored 14256, to be precise).

The Wild Life Extreme test gives the Galaxy S24 Ultra 5,134 points, but the S24 only managed 4,267 points. Solar Bay testing yields similar results, with the S24 Ultra leading by 286 points.

The two chipsets have massive differences in GPU stress testing. On the 3D Mark WildLife Stress test, both Galaxy S24 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) and Galaxy S24 (Exynos 2400) went head-to-head in the beginning, but the Snapdragon device had more consistent GPU performance over a long period.

Both chips have high-performance GPUs and can smoothly run high-end games, but the Snapdragon chip has a slight edge over the Exynos 2400 for long gaming sessions.    

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Exynos 2400: Performance & Efficiency

The Exynos 2400 chip uses the same cores as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but has two extra cores. Despite that, it was beaten down by the 8-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on the CPU benchmarks because of its higher clock speeds.

The benchmarking results also suggest that TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process is more efficient than Samsung’s.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs Exynos 2400: Which Is Better?

Samsung Exynos 2400 is a powerful smartphone chip and can very well compete with flagship chips from other brands. It has plenty of processing power and a powerful GPU to offer a smoother performance. However, it couldn’t beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on any benchmarks. That doesn’t make the Exynos 2400 a bad chip. It’s still one of the best flagship chips right now.

Samsung has done well with Exynos 2400, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is still ahead of it. However, another chip, Dimensity 9300, from its rival MediaTek, is giving tough competition to this flagship Snapdragon chip. Look at the tough battle between Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300.

Early benchmarks suggested the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24 series might lag behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in raw processing power. However, when it comes to real-world gaming performance, the Exynos 2400 has put up a surprising fight, even outperforming its rival in some titles.

Exynos 2400 performs better than expected!

A YouTuber individually tested the Exynos 2400 in the Galaxy S24+ and the Snapdragon in the Galaxy S24 Ultra by playing several demanding games. And the test was done with Samsung’s Game Booster and an “Alternate game performance management” setting on, which improves performance at the expense of heating. 

So this is a summary of these two tests compiled in a single story. Here’s what they found:

Genshin Impact: Both chips managed a mostly steady 60 FPS, proving their ability to handle even demanding titles. However, there was some thermal throttling which isn’t surprising considering Genshin Impact is the most demanding smartphone game.

PUBG Mobile: Both the Exynos and Snapdragon chips in the Galaxy S24 series managed to reach a consistent 90 FPS. But this was only on the Smooth graphics settings. When changing the settings, the highest frame rate option available was Extreme (60 FPS) for both the Snapdragon-powered S24 Ultra and Exynos-powered S24 Plus. This means that Samsung still needs to fine-tune these chips for better performance with PUBG Mobile.

PUBG New State: For New State, both phones support 90 FPS in Ultra graphics settings. There is an Extreme graphics option, but it’s not enabled on either phone, which means there’s still room for improvement via software updates.

Call of Duty: Mobile: The Galaxy S24 Ultra, with its Snapdragon chip and Super Resolution feature, achieved a smooth 120 FPS, while the Exynos-powered S24+ was stuck at 60 FPS.

Mobile Legends: Not a demanding game, so both phones ran it at a steady 60 FPS.

Fortnite: Both chips dropped to the low 70s in combat, but otherwise ran at a decent 90 FPS.

War Thunder: Surprisingly, the Exynos S24+ outperformed the Snapdragon S24 Ultra in this ray tracing-enabled game. Both started at around 100 FPS, but the Snapdragon chip quickly throttled down to 40 FPS in urban areas.

Overall, the Exynos 2400 pleasantly surprised in gaming performance. It not only keeps up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but even managed to beat it in War Thunder. This means Galaxy S24 owners worldwide can rest assured they’re not missing out on top-notch gaming performance.

Also, it’s worth noting that these tests were done on pre-production hardware, so things could get even better once Samsung releases further optimizations. With FSR support potentially boosting performance even further, the Exynos 2400 could become a real-good device for gaming.

However, recent results show that the Snapdragon still has the upper hand in overall performance.

Exynos 2400 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

A Vietnamese YouTuber tested both chips in AnTuTu by comparing the Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy powered S24 Ultra. 

The Galaxy S24 with the Exynos chip scored 1.7 million points, while the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra scored slightly higher at 1.8 million. This suggests a small performance difference of about 7% between the two.

However, these numbers are likely lower than what these chips are capable of. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has previously scored over 2 million in similar tests. That is likely due to the fact that the test was done on pre-production hardware running unstable software and might not show the full potential of the chips. 

The YouTuber also mentioned that the larger Galaxy S24+ might perform better in comparison with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

But the test suggests that although the Exynos 2400 chip is strong and almost as good as the Snapdragon, it hasn’t quite matched it yet. It will be exciting to see how much better the Exynos 2400 can get with the right firmware update in the future. Also, with the Dimensity 9300 chip in the picture, Samsung now has stiff competition from two top-tier chips in the Android market.

Samsung‘s Exynos 2400, initially announced last year with minimal details, finally sheds some light on its specifications. While details were initially scarce, the chip arrives under the hood of the latest Galaxy S24 and S24+, detailing a lot about its capabilities.

So the Exynos 2400 boasts a 10-core CPU configuration, featuring a powerful Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.2 GHz, accompanied by a mix of two Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.9 GHz and three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz. There are also four Cortex-A520 cores for efficiency with a clock speed of 2 GHz.

Samsung previously confirmed the new chipset brings a 1.7x increase in CPU performance. And the powerful mix of cores in the chipset seems promising. However, we’ll need to see how it actually performs in real-world situations, especially compared to its main rival, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Anyway, the Exynos 2400 is built on Samsung’s latest 4LPP+ process and utilizes FOWLP packaging technology, both aimed at improving performance and power consumption.

For graphics-related tasks, there is a Samsung Xclipse 940 GPU. Built on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, it comes with features like hardware-level ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling, promising more immersive visuals. 

Although specific details like WGP count and clock speed remain undisclosed, Samsung claims the GPU can handle 4K gaming at 120 fps or 1440p at 144 fps on external displays.

The Exynos 2400 also touts a significantly enhanced NPU, claiming a 14x performance improvement over its predecessor. It utilizes a combination of general and dedicated AI processors, though the specific TOPS count remains unknown. For photography enthusiasts, the chip offers support for a staggering 320 MP camera sensor.

The Exynos 2400 will power a portion of the Galaxy S24 and S24+ models globally, excluding specific regions like the US, China, Canada, and Japan. 

While some key details remain obscured, the revealed specifications showcase a processor capable of handling demanding tasks and delivering advanced gaming experiences.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is set to be unveiled next month. Now, a new leak has revealed the entire spec sheet of the flagship smartphone lineup via a leaked infographic. This shares some key details regarding the upcoming launch, so let’s have a look.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series to launch with Exynos 2400 worldwide

The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy S24 lineup infographic was shared on X (formerly Twitter) via WigettaGaming. In the specs sheet, we can see that the Galaxy series will feature the Exynos 2400 for the global markets. Although, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are said to ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for the US and Canada. In other words, it is going to back to its usual cycle again of launching its devices with Snapdragon processors in the US while the rest of the world gets the Exynos variants.

Apart from this, the infographic confirms that the entire lineup will launch with the AMOLED LTPO display that has a variable refresh rate ranging from 1-120Hz. The Galaxy S24 sports a 6.2-inch FHD+ panel, while the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra arrive with 6.7-inch and 6.8-inch QHD+ panels respectively. The Ultra variant has a 200-megapixel quad camera setup, while the base and Plus models feature a 50-megapixel triple camera.

The Exynos and Snapdragon processors are paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Other notable features include Android 14 OS based One UI 6.1 custom skin out of the box, Dynamic Lock Screen, Smart Keyboard, and various AI features. Samsung is expected to equip its next generation of flagship smartphones with the Exynos 2400 SoC. The chipset is the company’s latest high end processor, and now, a tipster is claiming that it could surpass the iPhone 15 Pro Max‘s Apple A17 Pro chip.

The information arrives from known tipster Revegnus on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, a short summary of the Exynos 2400 SoC was shared. Here, he stated that the upcoming Samsung chipset features a GPU that was co-designed with AMD, which is capable of outperforming the GPU performance of the Apple A17 Pro. To recall, the A17 Pro is the 3nm chipset that powers the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which managed to score over 590,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmarking platform‘s graphics test thanks to its 6-core GPU.

In other words, the Exynos 2400 could potentially surpass this score. Revegnus further adds that the Exynos 2400 will be based on Samsung’s enhanced 4nm process and not the 3nm process. The company is sticking to the 4nm node over increased yields and improved performance as it has more “expertise” in this process. The Exynos 2400 will also have the first application of FOWLP, which basically implies reduced chip thickness and improved heat dissipation.

During the recent SLSI Tech Day event, Samsung unveiled certain key details regarding the upcoming Exynos 2400. The brand claims that the processor will offer 70 percent faster CPU performance along with 14.7 times faster AI processing speeds when compared to the Exynos 2200. For those unaware, the Galaxy S24 lineup will launch in both the Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon variants. So depending on the market, buyers receive the Exynos 2400 variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 version of the smartphones. As far as the architecture is concerned, it is a 10-core chipset with 1x core @3.21GHz, 2x Cores @2.90Ghz, 3x Cores @2.59 GHz and 4x Cores @1.96 GHz. Further, the benchmark details the presence of 8GB RAM and Android 14 on the board.

As per previous reports, it is expected to offer 70% improved performance in comparison with its predecessor – Exynos 2200, and 14.7x faster AI processing. It is expected to bundle Xclipse 940 GPU with RDNA3 AMD architecture.

This is not the final performance test for the chipset, it will be tuned further by Samsung. Concluding the actual performance on the benchmarks would not be fair. It is better to wait and watch for official information from Samsung side.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Previous Leaks

There are multiple reports about the presence of Exynos 2400 on Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models shipping in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy S24 series early next year. The lineup will comprise the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the top end Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now, a new leak has revealed key core specifications of the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models. So here are all the details.

Samsung Galaxy S24 & S24+ powered by a new and improved Exynos 2400

The South Korean tech giant is planning on equipping the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with a new Exynos 2400 SoC. For those unaware, Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in every region. The 2024 Exynos chipset will feature a deca core configuration. This means that it houses 10 cores.

The chipset will have a 1+3+2+4 structure, which consists of one Cortex X4 Prime CPU core that clocks in at 3.19GHz. It is paired with five Cortex A720 performance cores with two cores having a 2.9GHz frequency while the other three have a 2.6GHz clock speed. Lastly, there are four Cortex A520 efficiency cores that clock in at 1.95GHz. The chipset will reportedly also feature the Samsung XClipse 940 and the Exynos 5300, which is an integrated modem that enables a downlink speed of up to 10GBps.

Samsung Exynos 2500

All of this is in line with our previous reports regarding the new Exynos 2400. Tipster @OreXda also shared additional information on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the 2025 Exynos. Apparently, Samsung plans on using a similar deca core configuration on the Exynos 2500 as well. Although, the next gen chip will feature a Cortex X5 Prime CPU core, along with two Cortex A730 performance cores, three Cortex A730 cores with slower clock speeds, and four Cortex A530 efficiency cores.

Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 2400 SoC, and it is likely that this chip will be used in the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. However, since the Exynos name has a mixed reputation, some users may be hesitant to see it return to the Galaxy S24 series, especially after Samsung’s decision to use Snapdragon chips globally in the Galaxy S23 series. A new report sheds light on the use of Exynos and Snapdragon chips in the S24 series.

According to a report by Korean outlet The Elec, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset exclusively—no matter the region or market it’s sold in. 

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will use either the Exynos 2400 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, depending on the region. It is likely that the Exynos 2400 versions of the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be launched in Africa, Asia (including South Korea), Europe, and Latin America, while the Snapdragon-equipped versions will be launched in North America (Canada and the US). 

This is similar to the approach Samsung took with the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung is reportedly in the final stages of deciding how to distribute the different variants of the Galaxy S24 series phones. So it is unlikely that the company will change its strategy now. 

Exynos 2400

The new Exynos chip features a 70% faster CPU and 14.7x faster AI processing than the previous generation Exynos. It also features the Xclipse 940 GPU, which is based on AMD’s latest RDNA3 architecture. Samsung has not unveiled its stats for GPU performance, but it claims that the chip offers substantially improved ray tracing performance in games.

However, based on past trends, the Exynos 2400’s GPU performance is unlikely to be as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s. The Exynos 2400 chip is reportedly fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm LPP+ node and has a 10-core CPU. 

Meanwhile, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is expected to use TSMC’s latest node, but some reports claim that there may be versions on both the 3nm and 4nm process. We will learn more about the process when Qualcomm unveils it at its Snapdragon Summit this month.

Past leaks have revealed the S24 models will be powered by the Exynos 2400, a 10-core chipset with a new Xclipse 940 GPU. Now the processor has emerged on a benchmarking platform, boasting GPU score better than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Here are the details.

Exynos 2400 might not catch up with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Tipster @Tech_Reve recently shared two screenshots comparing the performance of the Exynos 2400 chip with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 using Powerboard 4.0 benchmarks. In a head-to-head GPU showdown, the Xclipse 940 GPU (developed in collaboration with AMD) delivered a slightly lower score compared to the Adreno 740 found in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Specifically, the Xclipse 940 achieved a score of 1,656 points at 1080p resolution, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s Adreno 740 averaged 1,561 points at the same resolution.

This is not exactly good news since the Exynos 2400 barely beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is now a year older SoC. You will likely not find this gap if the comparison was with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But since neither the Galaxy S24 nor the Exynos 2400 are official yet, we’ll give Samsung the benefit of the doubt.

Earlier rumors suggest that the new Exynos SoC will have a 10-core CPU with a 1+2+3+4 core architecture. The single Cortex-X4 core will be clocked at 3.10GHz, while the two Cortex-A720 cores will run at 2.9GHz, and the three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6GHz. The remaining four Cortex-A520 cores will be clocked at 1.8GHz. All of the cores will be based on the ARMv9 architecture.

In other words, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy across all markets. Hence, it appears that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will come with Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy depending on the region. As always, readers to digest the leak with a pinch of salt.

A recent report claimed that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to begin with a base configuration of 8 GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Furthermore, the maximum storage capacity will be raised to 2 TB, compared to the S23 Ultra’s 1 TB maximum. To recall, the S23 Ultra was made available in storage options such as 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

According to rumors, the Exynos 2400 will have a 10-core chip with a Cortex-X4 core, two clusters of Cortex-A720 cores, and finally four A520 cores. The GPU, named Xclipse 940, has been developed in collaboration with AMD and is based on RDNA 2 technology.

On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy will be an overclocked version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. More importantly, the report brings the detailed specs of the chipset. The new Exynos SoC is said to have a 10-core CPU with a 1+2+3+4 core configuration. It will have one powerful Cortex-X4 core running at 3.10GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores running at 1.8GHz. Samsung Electronics has confirmed its plans to reintroduce its in-house Exynos chipset to its flagship lineup of smartphones, specifically the Galaxy S series. The announcement was made during the company’s Q1 2023 earnings call by Hyeokman Kwon, Vice President of the DS Division at Samsung LSI, who stated that they are “pushing for the return of Exynos to the flagship of the Galaxy series.”

While Kwon did not explicitly mention the Galaxy S24 lineup, it is widely known that Samsung introduces new chipsets to its flagship Galaxy S lineup rather than the Galaxy Z series.

However, there are rumors that Samsung may use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra variants while using the Exynos 2400 only in the standard Galaxy S24 model.

While this may come as a disappointment for Samsung fans in Europe and Asia, who have experienced issues with the Exynos SoC in the past. However, if the Exynos 2400 fails to live up to expectations, users in these regions can always opt for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the higher-end models of the Galaxy S24 lineup.

Samsung’s move to use the Exynos SoC in its flagship lineup again could be seen as a strategic move to lessen the brand’s reliance on Qualcomm, which currently dominates the high-end smartphone chipset market. This also allows Samsung to showcase the performance of its in-house chipsets and potentially gain more market share in the long run.

It remains to be seen whether the Exynos 2400 SoC can meet the expectations of consumers, but it is undoubtedly a step forward for Samsung’s chip-making division.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset and probably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. The Galaxy S24 will be released next year and some CPU performance numbers of the Exynos 2400 have emerged.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series was powered exclusively by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. Little is known of the Samsung flagship Exynos 2400 SoC but the new performance numbers provide some perspectives.

The Exynos 2400 is expected to outperform the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips and possibly square up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. As per the latest leak, the Exynos 2400 could garner a single-core average score of 1530 and a multi-core average of 6210 on Geekbench 5. The corresponding Geekbench numbers for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy are not available. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy scored 1556 and 4987 in single-core and multi-core testing.

Samsung could limit the Exynos 2400 to some regions while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy models of the S24 will ship to other regions. There is however a rumor that it is only the base Galaxy S24 model that will feature the Exynos 2400 SoC. Samsung had previously shipped region-specific chipsets for Galaxy S series models. The rumors are therefore not definitive. Certainly, Samsung will provide greater optics on the development of the Exynos 2400 and the models of the Galaxy S24 lineup that will feature Exynos 2400 chipsets.

Although Samsung chose Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 over its own Exynos chips for the Galaxy S23 this year, it may not make the same decision next year. The Korean company is reportedly developing a new Exynos 2400 chip that might power some Galaxy S24 units. From what we know so far, it looks pretty powerful, at least on paper. In the latest development, a tipster has claimed the Exynos chip will get a new RDNA2-based graphics unit with 6WGP.

Exynos 2400 could be Samsung’s trump card

Samsung’s Exynos chipsets are not exactly known for performance and efficiency but the upcoming Exynos 2400 could be different. It is expected to be a deca-core chipset and now Revengus has claimed on Twitter that the chipset will use AMD’s RDNA2-based GPU but with 12 compute units. For reference, the Exynos 2200’s Xclipse 920 has just three compute units. It is also claimed to feature 6 WGP, which is short for “workgroup processor” and forms part of AMD’s RDNA architecture.

Unlike other mobile processors that typically utilize an octa-core architecture, the upcoming Exynos platform is reportedly designed with 10 cores. The chipset is expected to include the following cores: one Cortex-X4 clocked at 3.1 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.9 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores operating at 1.8 GHz.

A recent report suggests that mass production of the Exynos 2400 chip will begin in 2024. It is likely to power some models of the Galaxy S24 series. However, there’s no word yet on which regions will get the Exynos 2400-powered variants of the Galaxy S24. More details should emerge in the coming days.

Samsung is reportedly planning to make a significant change to its Exynos chipsets to improve their performance and efficiency. According to a new rumor, the company plans to use Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging (FoWLP) for its upcoming Exynos 2400 chipset. This packaging method is expected to make the Exynos 2400 smaller, more powerful, and more power-efficient than its predecessors.

FoWLP is a method used to enclose all integrated circuits in a package that also protects the die and connects the chipset to the motherboard. This method allows for a higher integration level in a smaller package footprint, resulting in significantly improved thermal and electrical performance. If Samsung uses FoWLP to make the Exynos 2400, the chipset is expected to be at par with its Snapdragon counterparts in terms of optimization and power efficiency.

The Exynos 2400 is rumored to have a 1+2+3+4 design with one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.1GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset will also use an RDNA2 GPU called Xclipse X940 (tentatively), which includes 6 WGP (12 CU), 8 MB L3 cache, and supports hardware-level ray tracing.

While Samsung has not officially acknowledged the existence of the Exynos 2400, rumors suggest that it could be used in the upcoming Galaxy S24. If Samsung can deliver a significantly better Exynos-powered variant through further optimization of other components and software, this could be a game-changer for the company. However, it’s worth noting that this is all speculation at this point, and we’ll have to wait for more industry leaks to confirm any of these rumors.
