After a dull 2017, the company seems to have done their homework this time, bringing a solid contender in the $150 price segment, directly taking on the current champion, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-5-plus/">Redmi 5 Plus.</a> So, it was very important that we got our Meizu M6S hands on as soon as possible to see if it lives up to our expectations.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168322" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s hands on (11)" width="1282" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11.jpg 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-11-1024x681.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /></a></p>
<p>The phone borrows a lot of design elements from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-pro-6/">Meizu Pro 6</a>, including nano injected U shaped antenna lines in a solid metal body. Also, with this phone, Meizu is joining the 18:9 club, featuring a 5.7-inch HD+ display on the front. This reduces the bezels on all the sides, making it similar to the Redmi 5 Plus and other 18:9 phones in the market. The back has a smooth finish with the camera sensor and flash placed at the center for a perfect symmetry. The logo lies below them, and given that our unit is from the first batch of M6S, we got the mblu branding at the back. After the initial batch is sold out, new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/18/meizu-m6s-mblu-branding-first-batch/">M6S units will feature just the Meizu branding at the back</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168321" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s hands on (10)" width="1282" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10.jpg 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-10-1024x681.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /></a></p>
<p>Coming back to the front, we definitely have to talk about the Halo button on the screen. It&#8217;s called as Super mBack, an updated version of the popular mBack button, but this time around, it&#8217;s a virtual button instead of a physical one that&#8217;s seen on other Meizu devices. But it&#8217;s not your typical onscreen button as it features a pressure sensitive chip as well as a linear vibration motor below it to ensure smooth navigation. So, the halo button basically acts as the mBack button, in the virtual form.</p>
<figure id="attachment_168319" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-168319" style="width: 1282px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-168319" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s hands on (8)" width="1282" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8.jpg 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-8-1024x681.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-168319" class="wp-caption-text">Halo button on Meizu M6S</figcaption></figure>
<p>You can touch for going back, press for getting to the home screen, swipe for multitasking and do a lot more with this one button. Check out this <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/17/heres-meizu-super-mback-halo-button-works-video/">article for more details on how this Halo button works</a>. However, if you are not used to Meizu&#8217;s mBack, it might take some time for you to get used to the gestures. Of course, if you want stock Android buttons, you can use them as well. Also, Meizu&#8217;s VP has confirmed that you will be getting an option to hide this halo button in the February 5 update, which opens up a bit more screen real estate.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168315" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s hands on (4)" width="1282" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4.jpg 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-4-1024x681.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /></a></p>
<p>Another interesting aspect of the Meizu M6S is its side mounted fingerprint sensor. Often companies shift fingerprint sensors to the back in an 18:9 display phone, but in this case, Meizu thought that wasn&#8217;t the optimal solution. Hence, the fingerprint sensor goes to the right side of the phone, below the power button. The placement is good, as you can instantly access the sensor to unlock the phone. The sensor is quick to recognise your registered fingerprint, and it&#8217;s as fast as other phones. Also, note that you almost never use the power button as the phone instantly wakes up as soon as your fingerprint is recognised.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168317" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s hands on (6)" width="1282" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6.jpg 1282w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-hands-on-6-1024x681.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1282px) 100vw, 1282px" /></a></p>
<p>The 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroUSB port, and speakers are located at the bottom. The volume buttons and the SIM card slots are placed on the left side of the phone.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>RELATED: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/17/meizu-m6s-exynos-7872-scores-higher-snapdragon-625-powered-redmi-5-plus/">Meizu M6S with Exynos 7872 Scores Higher Than Snapdragon 625 Powered Redmi 5 Plus</a></strong></p>
<p>Overall, I like the built quality and finish of the Meizu M6S. The camera is quite okay so far, but I haven&#8217;t tested it out yet. It may not be as good as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-note-6/">M6 Note</a>, but we&#8217;ll be adding camera samples and its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/17/meizu-m6s-vs-redmi-5-plus-specs-comparison/">comparison with the Redmi 5 Plus very soon</a>. So stay tuned!</p>
<p>Meanwhile, you can take a look at some additional Meizu M6S Hands on pictures down below.</p>

However, some of its high-end phones have featured Exynos chipsets from Samsung. Since the newly unveiled <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-m6-s-smartphone-full-specification-and-features/">Meizu M6S</a> budget phone features the modest Exynos 7872 chipset, the rumor mill has speculated that Meizu will no longer sell phones with MediaTek chipset. Jeffery Yang who is Meizu’s senior Vice-President has confirmed that his words have been misinterpreted by media that the company is abandoning MediaTek. He refuted the rumors by saying that the company will continue to launch Meizu phone with MediaTek chipset.</p>
<p>On Weibo, Yang clarified that Meizu will be making processor choices according to the need and popularity of the chipset. Hence, it appears that Meizu may use chipsets from Samsung and Qualcomm for its high-end phones. However, its low-end phones may continue to feature MediaTek SoCs.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168006" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-samples-7.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6S" width="630" height="419" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-samples-7.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-samples-7-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /></p>

<p>The flagship chipsets from MediaTek have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/03/mediatek-likely-debut-7nm-flagship-chipsets-later-year/">failed to gain big clients</a>. Hence, it has mainly concentrated its business on manufacturing chipsets for low-end smartphone market. The Meizu M6S powered by Exynos 7872 is priced around $200. So, if we are to see an MTK powered Meizu phone, it would probably retail for a much cheaper price tag, around $100 to $120. Some rumors had claimed that Meizu may also release a MediaTek variant of the Meizu M6S for markets outside of China. However, there is no official confirmation on it.</p>

It is one of the major rivals for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-5-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus</a> that carries a similar pricing. On AnTuTu, the Meizu M6S that is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7872 has scored higher than the Redmi 5 Plus that is powered by Snapdragon 625.</p>
<p>In the below image, the average AnTuTu score is shown on the left side whereas the benchmarking score of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-m6-s-smartphone-full-specification-and-features/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Meizu M6S</a> is on the right. The Meizu M6S and Redmi 5 Plus have respectively scored 88133 and 76192 on AnTuTu.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167799" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6S-AnTuTu.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6S vs. Redmi 5 Plus AnTuTu" width="600" height="591" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6S-AnTuTu.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6S-AnTuTu-300x296.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The Snapdragon 625 is an 14nm chipset features an octa-core processor that includes two quad-core clusters of CortexA52 that delivers a maximum speed of 2.0 GHz along with Adreno 506 graphics. On the other side, the Exynos 7872 is a brand-new chipset from Samsung that has arrived first on the Meizu M6S. It is also a 14nm chipset that features a hexa-core processor that includes two cores of Cortex A73 that clocks at 2.0 GHz and four cores of Cortex A53 that works at 1.6 GHz. It includes Mali-G71 graphics.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 625 is well-known for its efficiency. However, by looking at the AnTuTu scores of Meizu M6S and Redmi 5 Plus it can be understood that when it comes to performance, the Exynos 7872 seems to be a better performing chipset.</p>

In fact, last year, we saw the company limit its launches significantly, sticking to mainstream lineups like the mid-range Meizu M series and high-end Pro series. Even they didn&#8217;t do so well, despite the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-note-6/">Meizu M6 Note</a> offering pretty good value for money. So, 2018 is going to be an important year for the company and the <strong>Meizu mBlu S6</strong> is going to kick start the year for them.</p>
<p>In case you remember, Meizu was split into three divisions last year, Meizu, Blue Charm, and Flyme. The mBlu S6, which we also call the Meizu M6S, will be the company&#8217;s first rebranded Blue Charm smartphone. It actually makes sense to rebrand the mid-range cost effective series, so that it&#8217;s given a separate identity, especially when the company is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/15/meizu-focus-high-end-market-year-partnering-qualcomm-samsung/">reportedly focusing on high-end devices in 2018</a>.</p>
<p>So, being the first mBlu branded device, we are all interested to see what&#8217;s in store for us tomorrow. Luckily, there were enough leaks in the past few months to paint a complete picture of the mBlu S6 and below is a summary of these details.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>DESIGN:</strong></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mBlu-s6-02-tenaa.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-165240" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mBlu-s6-02-tenaa.jpg?x44794" alt="mBlu s6 02 tenaa" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mBlu-s6-02-tenaa.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mBlu-s6-02-tenaa-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Meizu mBlu S6<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/05/meizu-mblu-s6-m6s-passes-tenaa-features-189-display-side-mounted-fingerprint/"> has adopted a very simple design</a>, keeping the front as well as back clean. So, you have no intrusive buttons or sensors on both the sides. This also means that the company is going to ditch the popular mBack physical home button that we all love. This might not be the best decision, but let&#8217;s reserve our judgment until tomorrow. There&#8217;s the new mblu branding at the back along with U shaped antennas on the top as well as bottom.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mblu-s6-01-tenaa.jpg?x44794"><br />
<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-165239" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mblu-s6-01-tenaa.jpg?x44794" alt="mblu s6 01 tenaa" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mblu-s6-01-tenaa.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/mblu-s6-01-tenaa-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a>You have the usual power and volume keys on the two sides, but what&#8217;s really interesting is the fingerprint sensor that&#8217;s placed just below the power button. We have seen companies usually prefer rear placed sensors for 18:9 long screen phones, but Meizu has decided to go with a side mounted one. I am personally not a big fan of rear placed sensors, so this does make things interesting.</p>
<p>Apart from this, there&#8217;s nothing special to talk about the mBlu S6&#8217;s design. Oh yes, one more thing, expect on screen buttons for navigation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>SPECS:</strong></h3>
<p>This is where things get interesting. The mBlu S6 is said to feature a lower mid-range Exynos chipset from Samsung. We are not used to seeing Exynos chips inside non-Samsung devices, but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/03/10/meizu-pro-6-plus-4gb-64gb-exynos-8890-listed-jingdong-2999-yuan/">Meizu has always been one manufacturer having very good relationship with the South Korean giant</a>, so the use of this chipset is not surprising. However, it&#8217;s worth nothing that the Exynos 7872 has not yet been officially detailed by Samsung. But we <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/04/meizu-m6s-new-leak-reveals-key-specs-exynos-7872-chipset/">do have some rumored / leaked specs of the chipset</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-131275" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Exynos 7872" width="600" height="369" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured-300x185.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Exynos 7872 inside the mBlu S6 is said to be manufactured on a 14nm node featuring an hexa-core architecture. The chip is said to sport 2 x Cortex A73 @ 2GHz and 4 x Cortex A53 @1.6GHz cores inside. Graphics is taken care by Mali-G71 MP3 GPU with other notable features including Bluetooth 4.2, Cat 7 LTE, and dual SIM support. According to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/11/meizu-m6s-seen-geekbench-sports-hexa-core-processor/">Geekbench scores of the mBlu S6</a>, the Exynos 7872 does really well in single core test but lags behind in multi-core test as compared to SD625 (which scores near 4K).</p>
<p>As for the other specs of the mBlu S6, the phone should come with 3GB + 32GB / 64GB storage options, 5.7-inch HD+ 1440 x 720p display with 2.5D curved glass on top, 3000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, Android 7 with Flyme OS, and 16MP rear / 8MP f/2.0 front cameras.</p>
<p>The company confirmed the 18:9 display on the phone earlier today and even added that there was a surprise feature on the phone. I guess, we&#8217;ll have to wait until tomorrow to know more details.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>PRICING:</strong></h3>
<p>The mBlu S6 is said to be a 1000 Yuan segment smartphone and the likely price tag could be <strong>1299 Yuan ($199)</strong>. The phone launches tomorrow in China and the first set of orders should likely ship within next week.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>CONCLUSION:</strong></h3>
<p>Everything looks pretty good for the mBlu S6, expect for the fact that with the above mentioned price tag, it competes directly with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-5-plus/">Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus</a>. But in terms of the specification that we have seen so far, the mBlu S6 would struggle in front of the Redmi 5 Plus. The resolution is lower on the S6 (HD+ vs FHD+) and the battery is smaller as well (3000 vs 4000). From the specs, the phone is better suited to take on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-5/">Redmi 5</a>, which retails for 799 Yuan ($125).</p>
<p>So, the pricing is going to be crucial for the mBlu S6. Or maybe there&#8217;s a feature that sets the phone apart from the Redmi devices.</p>
<p>Well, all we have to do now is wait and see if Meizu finally starts the year with a good launch.</p>

The teasers not only count down to the official launch but also tease one of the specs.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-167187 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s Cortex-A73 Processor" width="960" height="960" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Cortex-A73-Processor-1-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>The teaser for yesterday focuses on the processor. In the image, Meizu reveals that the chipset will have ARM&#8217;s Cortex-A73 cores. The A73 was announced back in 2016. It offers a variety of performance and power saving improvements over the Cortex-A72.</p>
<p>For instance, the Cortex-A73 has about 10 to 15% performance increase alongside a 20% reduction in power consumption if it is built using the same node as the Cortex-A72.</p>
<p>If it is built on a smaller node such as the 10nm process, it provides a 30% increase in performance and a 30% reduction in power consumption. The Exynos 7872 hexa-core SoC which will power the Meizu M6s is built using the 14nm node process. While it won&#8217;t provide up to 30% increase in performance and power savings, it will at least not be lower than 15%.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-167188 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s mBack button" width="960" height="960" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-mBack-button-1-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>On the other hand, the teaser for today teases the new navigational buttons for the Meizu M6s. The phone will ditch its physical mBack button for on-screen ones. Despite that, there are reports that there will be an option to activate a virtual mBack button that works just like the physical one.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166969" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Registrations.png?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s Registration" width="1745" height="767" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Registrations.png 1745w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Registrations-300x132.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Registrations-768x338.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-Registrations-1024x450.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1745px) 100vw, 1745px" /></p>
<p>To sum it up, Meizu has also began registrations for the phone on its official website. It is not unexpected that pricing and specification details are missing on the page.</p>

Although, that is roughly a week from now, news of the Meizu M6s have not stopped pouring in. This time it is the phone&#8217;s Geekbench listing that is the focus.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166466" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-geekbench.png?x44794" alt="Meizu M6s geekbench" width="730" height="730" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-geekbench.png 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-geekbench-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-geekbench-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-geekbench-270x270.png 270w" sizes="(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px" /></p>
<p>Benchmarked as the “Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Meizu M6s”, the listing mostly reveals details we are already familiar with. The Meizu M6s runs Android 7.0, has 3GB of RAM, and is powered by a 1.59GHz hexa-core processor.</p>
<p>The processor according to previous reports is Samsung&#8217;s 14nm Exynos 7872 with a Mali-G71 GPU. The chip itself hasn&#8217;t been formally unveiled by Samsung even though the phone&#8217;s launch is less than a week away.</p>
<p>In terms of performance, the Meizu M6s scores 1312 points in the single-core test and 3134 points in the multi-core test. Judging from the scores, the chipset does perform better than the Snapdragon 625 in the single core test but lags behind it in the multi-core test.</p>
<p>There are new rumors that the Meizu M6s will have a MediaTek  variant for the version released globally. We advise you to take it with a pinch of salt.</p>
<p>Meizu doesn&#8217;t have a tradition of releasing the same phone with different processors. Also, the last time a rumor similar to this surfaced was in the case of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-note-6/">M6 Note</a>. There was even a photo proof that there would be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/23/meizu-m6-note-may-arrive-possibly-arrive-three-variants/">Helio P25 variant of the phone</a>, but it never happened.</p>

<p>The Meizu M6s will not only be the first Meizu phone with an 18:9 display, but also the first to ditch the mBack button and the first with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.</p>

However, fresh information claims that it will be postponing its launch until January as it has encountered some issue with its camera.</p>
<p>Meizu is reportedly facing debugging issue with the camera of Meizu M6S. Previous leaks of the phone have already that revealed it will be coming with an elongated display that will be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9. It may feature an HD+ resolution supporting display of 5.7 inches.</p>
<p>The Meizu M6S will be equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It is rumored to be powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/29/rumored-meizu-m6s-full-screen-phone-may-feature-exynos-7872-chipset/https:/www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/29/rumored-meizu-m6s-full-screen-phone-may-feature-exynos-7872-chipset/">14nm Exynos 7872 chipset</a> that will be coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It is expected to house a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a selfie camera of 5-megapixel. The M6S would be running on Android Nougat OS and its leaked shots have also shown that it features a round-shaped on-screen button that seems to be available on all the screens of the phone. This on-screen button is rumored to carry the capabilities of mBack.</p>

<p>Latest information has also revealed that the price of the Meizu M6S would be priced around 2,000 Yuan like the recently unveiled Smartisan Nuts Pro 2. However, this information contradicts earlier reports that had claimed that it would be costing around 1,000 Yuan (~$151). Considering the rumors that the Meizu M6S would be arriving as a competitor for Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, the 2,000 Yuan (~$302) pricing does not seem suitable for it.</p>
<p>In related news, Meizu is also rumored to be working on another full screen smartphone that will be powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset. It is also expected to arrive with round-shaped on-screen button and side-mounted fingerprint scanner.</p>

The rumour emerged on Twitter from a self-acclaimed &#8220;famous leaker in China&#8221; who hinted that the phone belongs to the Galaxy -series but isn&#8217;t the Galaxy C10 and C10 Plus.</p>
<figure id="attachment_129464" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-129464" style="width: 800px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/samsung-c-series-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-129464" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/samsung-c-series-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro" width="800" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/samsung-c-series-2.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/samsung-c-series-2-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/samsung-c-series-2-768x403.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-129464" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy C-series phone (C9 Pro)</figcaption></figure>
<p>The tipster wasn&#8217;t specific about the Galaxy C-series smartphone&#8217;s launch date but the device will be the first Samsung-made Exynos 7872-powered smartphone but we can&#8217;t say if the device will be the first device that would feature the Samsung mid-range chip. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/05/16/meizus-exynos-7872-powered-smartphone-specs-sheet-leaks/">Meizu is also rumoured as working on a device which would use the Exynos 7872 chip</a>. In a subsequent tweet, the tipster disclosed that the device will likely be the Samsung Galaxy C7 2017.</p>

<p>A previous leak had given the details of the Exynos 7872 to include, a 64-bit hexacore 14nm FinFet manufacturing process with four cortex-A53 cores for power efficiency and two cortex-A73 cores for performance. For its GPU, the Exynos 7872 System-on-Chip (SoC) is said to come with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. It also comes with a fully-integrated modem for improved network support and lots more.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-131275" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Exynos 7872" width="600" height="369" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Samsung-Exynos-7-Octa-Featured-300x185.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Previous details revealed about the chip says it will have six cores: 4 Cortex-A73 and 2 Cortex-A53 cores, paired with a Mali-T830 GPU. According to a Weibo post by @Grass Grass Grass, there has been a change. Instead of the T830, the GPU has been swapped for a Mali-G71 MP1.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-134904" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Exynos-7872-GPU.png?x44794" alt="Exynos 7872 GPU" width="719" height="391" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Exynos-7872-GPU.png 719w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Exynos-7872-GPU-300x163.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px" /></p>
<p>This is a high performance ARM GPU and a variant of the one found in the Kirin 960 (Mali-G71 MP8). The difference lies in the number of cores. The MP1 has just a single display core while the MP8 as the name suggests has 8. The Mali-G71 actually maxes out at 32 cores.</p>

<p>There is no release date yet but rumor has it that the phone Meizu is working on is a variant of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-e2/">E2</a> recently released. This is not the Transformers Edition scheduled to go on sale soon as the listing on Lynx shows that has a Helio X20 SoC. The Exynos 7872 variant may be scheduled to launch later.</p>

In a related vein, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/meizu">Meizu</a> and Samsung were reported to have held a conference in China but the details of the discussions at the event were kept from the media.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-131610" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.jpg?x44794" alt="meizu" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, a Weibo user has shared a document which suggests that Meizu will be releasing a smartphone soon which would be powered by the Exynos 7872 chip. The user shared a document showing the specs lineup of an upcoming Meizu smartphone whose name is still sketchy as of now.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-131612" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.png?x44794" alt="" width="589" height="319" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos.png 589w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meizu-exynos-300x162.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px" /></a></p>
<p>Apart from the Exynos 7872 chip, the Meizu smartphone is listed with a 5.5-inch FHD display, mCharge and surprisingly with the unique 4-LED flash which Meizu introduced on the E2. That must have fueled the speculation that the smartphone would likely be called Meizu E2S. Other details include VoLTE support, a 3400mAh battery, 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, 32GB and 64GB LPDDR4 storage models, Wi-Fi support, a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter, among others.</p>

<p>We don&#8217;t know when the said smartphone will be launched but a recent poster suggests Meizu will unveil the E2 Transformer Edition soon. Perhaps, we may also get to see a new Exynos-powered Meizu machine soon. Name? Meizu E2S, maybe.</p>

<p>The new chip said to be called the Exynos 7872 is built using the 14nm FinFET process and belongs to the Exynos 7 Octa series. The processor will have six-cores: four cortex-A53 cores for power efficiency and two cortex-A73 cores for performance. For its GPU it will have a Mali-T830 MP2, and a fully-integrated modem for improved network support. From the configuration, this can be Samsung&#8217;s answer to the Snapdragon 65x series.</p>
