Fairphone has officially launched the Fairbuds XL, its latest over-ear headphones focused on long-term use, repairability, and improved audio performance. The new model builds on the original Fairbuds XL with changes to sound quality, comfort, materials, and overall durability.

The Fairbuds XL is equipped with newly developed 40 mm dynamic drivers and refined audio tuning to deliver clearer and more balanced sound. The headphones support aptX HD over Bluetooth for high-resolution wireless audio and offer dual-point connectivity, allowing users to stay connected to two devices at the same time. Fairphone claims a battery life of up to 30 hours of continuous listening.

Design updates focus on everyday comfort and usability. The headband uses a breathable net fabric, while the ear cushions feature a soft birdseye mesh intended for extended wear. The headphones are foldable for easier storage and transport. Fairphone is offering the Fairbuds XL in two colors, Forest Green and Horizon Black.

Repairability remains central to the product. The Fairbuds XL features a modular design with nine user-replaceable parts, including the battery, ear cushions, headband, and speaker drivers. The battery can be removed and replaced easily, addressing common battery-related failures. The headphones carry an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance and come with up to a three-year warranty. They are also the only consumer headphones certified with the LONGTIME label for durability and repairability.

Existing Fairbuds XL owners can upgrade their headphones by replacing only the speaker drivers instead of buying a new unit. Fairphone is offering a discounted bundle with new drivers, ear cushions, and speaker covers. This upgrade option will be available in Europe toward the end of Q1 2026.

On the sustainability side, the Fairbuds XL is made using about 50 percent fair and recycled materials by total weight. This includes 100 percent recycled rare earth materials in the speaker magnets, more than 90 percent recycled aluminum, over 80 percent recycled plastics, and fair-mined copper, cobalt, and silver through credits. Assembly is done using solar energy, and the product is fully e-waste neutral.

Pricing & availability

The Fairbuds XL will be available from December 9, 2025. Pricing is set at €249 in the EU, £219 in the UK, and $229 in the US.

Released last month, the Fairphone 6 is the latest sustainable smartphone from the Dutch company known for pushing ethical tech. While it comes with a respectable spec sheet—a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display (120Hz), Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, and a 4,415mAh battery—it’s the internal design that’s drawing headlines.

According to iFixit, the phone’s modular construction and glue-free assembly make it remarkably easy to fix. All components, from the cameras to the screen and USB-C port, are held in place with T5 Torx screws—no adhesive in sight. Even the battery, while no longer tool-free due to its new soft-pouch design, can still be replaced in just a few minutes using four simple screws.

Fairphone also supplies detailed repair guides and affordable spare parts, continuing its mission to reduce electronic waste and extend device lifespans. The Fairphone 6 ships with an IP55 rating for dust and splash resistance—not quite the IP68 or IP69 you’ll find in most flagships, but a reasonable tradeoff for user-accessible internals. The phone is built to last—Fairphone is offering a 5-year warranty on top of the iconic modular design.

Software support is another strong point: Fairphone promises seven major Android updates and eight years of security patches, stretching into 2033. That’s longer than what most big-name manufacturers currently offer. In Europe, Fairphone 6 sells for €599 (around $706).

Fairphone has officially unveiled the Fairphone 6, a modular smartphone aimed at sustainability-conscious users who value longevity and repairability. Staying true to its predecessor, the brand is bringing a repairability focused design with a modular body and customizable back panels. But there’s more to this phone than just its design, so here’s what you need to know.

What sets the Fairphone 6 apart from the crowd?

Talking about the most obvious features first, the company built the Fairphone (Gen. 6) with a durable body that uses recycled materials for sustainability. But it’s still durable with a military grade drop rating, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance. It measures 9.6mm in width and weighs 193 grams. While this makes it one of the thickest smartphones on the market, this space is used for its unique design.

It features a modular design (glue-free) that allows users to replace 12 parts easily. So repairs are quite convenient on the Fairphone 6 as well. You also get a swappable backplate that allows you to customize the rear by replacing the backplate with another one. Official pictures showcase it with a finger loop, a lanyard, a case, and even a cardholder. On the front, it sports a relatively compact 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and up to 1400 nits of peak brightness. For eye comfort, there is support for both PWM and DC dimming.

Under the hood, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, which is paired wth 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Users can even expand storage by up to 2TB via a microSD card slot. A sizeable 4,415mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 30W wired fast charging. For optics, the rear has a 50MP Sony MYT700C SoC (ToF, OIS) and 13MP ultra wide angle lens (macro, EIS, ToF). Meanwhile, the front houses a 32MP selfie shooter.

Other notable features include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, NFC, dual SIM 5G, and a side mounted fingerprint scanner. There is also support for Gemini AI assistant and stereo speakers. It was just announced with a 599 Euros price tag, and it is currently on pre-order in Cloud White, Forest Green, and Horizon Black. Notably, Fairphone is promising an impressive 5 years of warranty and 7 years of major Android updates (launches with Android 15) out of the box. As per the report, the Fairphone 6 will come with a 6.31-inch P-OLED LTPO display, offering an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It is said to deliver a resolution of 2484 x 1116 pixels with a pixel density of 432ppi. The screen will be protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The device is expected to run Android 15 out of the box with a clean, near-stock UI experience.

Under the hood, the device is tipped to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, clocked up to 2.5GHz. It will likely pack 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Storage expansion up to 2TB may be supported via a microSD slot. A 4,415mAh battery with 33W fast charging over USB Power Delivery is also expected.

For photography, its rear camera setup is said to include a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.56 aperture and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. On the front, the device may house a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls.

The Fairphone 6 will feature a modular design, allowing users to replace the top internal cover, display, front camera, rear cameras, battery, earpiece, and USB-C. The user-replaceable components will be available for purchase through various retailers apart from the company’s official website. Other expected features include a modular design, support for Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6E, a 5G modem, and dimensions of 164 x 75 x 8mm.

The latest information arrives from a WinFuture report, which also shared images of the upcoming device. The brand is expected to launch the Fairphone 6 in a Horizon Black color option, with the new report hinting that it will also be listed in Cloud White and Forest Green. This model is expected to launch in at least one variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Fairphone is updating the design of the Fairphone 6 to match modern devices. You get narrower bezels on the front with a flat frame. One of the buttons can also be seen in yellow, which is in start contrast to the dark color hue of the smartphone. Although, this could be the slider that allows simple detachment of the rear panel. The back may feature a dual tone color design along with a dual camera module. This includes a main camera and an ultra wide angle lens.

So you’re missing a telephoto shooter. Among the new design changes is the modular body, which makes the selfie camera, two rear cameras, USB-C port, and even the battery replaceable. In other words, its simply process for any user, and you won’t need a skilled technician for repairs/replacements. Fairphone has confirmed that it will not upgrade the Fairphone 4 to Android 14, as was previously announced. Instead, the company is now set to skip one full major OS version and directly upgrade to Android 15 on some later date. 

The company announced the changes in the plan via a community forum post. Apparently, resource limitations and internal capacity are the main reasons behind the decision. 

Fairphone says it had assessed the development workload required for Android 14 and decided that it would make the most effective use of its time and staff resources by focusing efforts on Android 15 instead.

The previous OS upgrade that the Fairphone 4 has is on Android 13 back in 2023. While Android 14 was initially bound to release in the first half of 2025, there is no chance now. 

We have no confirmed date

That change means that the users waiting for more incremental Android update versions will have to get along with Android 13 until the company completes the development and testing process for Android 15.

Fairphone hasn’t committed to stepping out with Android 15 on a firm date.

The most recent Fairphone 5 which is still available on sale in a few markets for €499, also has not received Android 15 update as of yet. And the company hasn’t clarified whether both devices will get it at the same time. 

Despite those major update delays, the Fairphone 4 still pumps out bi-monthly security updates. The official support for the device will run out in 2026; the company is considering extending it for another two years. That would still keep the brand’s wider brand goal of promoting longevity and reducing electronic waste on some kind of track, even if the brand is hitting some practical limitations with their relatively small software development scale.

Historically, Android hasn’t had a stellar reputation for software updates. Thankfully, this situation has improved significantly over the last five years or so. In 2025, it’s relatively common for Android flagships to receive at least a few years of OS updates and security patches. Even many budget phones now receive at least one OS upgrade. 

With consumers holding onto their devices longer, timely operating system (OS) updates and security patches have become a key consideration when purchasing a smartphone.

While not all brands are equal in their commitment, several have stepped up their game, matching or even exceeding Apple’s historically strong update policies. Let’s break down which brands offer the best software support in 2025.

Google

The Pixel series leads Android in software longevity. With the Pixel 8 series, Google promises seven years of Android OS updates, security patches, and feature drops—a level of support unmatched even by Apple.

What makes Google’s approach particularly impressive is its retroactive support for older models like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7, which have also been granted an additional two years of Android updates. With timely and consistent rollouts, Pixel phones remain one of the best choices for users seeking long-term software support.

Apple

Apple has long been the benchmark for consistent software updates. Even during Android’s early years of fragmented support, Apple regularly provided at least three major OS updates for its devices. By the time the iPhone 6 launched, five years of updates had become standard.

However, Apple has never explicitly guaranteed update timelines for its smartphone. Some might receive longer updates than we expect them to. For instance, the iPhone 6S launched with iOS 9 and continued receiving updates until iOS 15, far surpassing expectations.

However, following regulatory pressure in the UK, Apple for the first time confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro will receive at least five years of updates. That’s the bare minimum though. Apple often exceeds this commitment, supporting older models as long as hardware limitations do not hinder performance.

Samsung

Samsung and Google are on a level playing field when it comes to update commitments for flagships. Samsung also promises seven years of OS upgrades and security patches for the Galaxy S24 series and newer devices, including the Flip, Fold, and Galaxy Tab S10 models.

While its flagship lineup benefits from this long-term support, some Galaxy A-series budget models are also guaranteed to receive six years of updates—better than the flagship update policies of many rival brands.

More importantly, Samsung rolls out updates timely manner, whether for its flagships or budget models, making it a better Android brand if you care about software updates.

Fairphone

Fairphone has built its brand around sustainability and long-term software support. The Fairphone 2, released in 2015, received updates for over seven years—a rare feat in the Android world.

The newer Fairphone 5 offers five years of OS updates and eight years of security patches. The company even claims it will try to extend security patch updates to 10 years if things work in their favor. 

However, Fairphone’s update schedule isn’t as predictable as other brands, with inconsistent OS releases and patch updates despite the long support window.

The Industry Still Has Room to Improve

Despite the advancements by Google, Samsung, and Apple, other brands have room for growth. Xiaomi, OnePlus, and OPPO are yet to make enough progress, while companies like Motorola still struggle to deliver consistent updates to even its flagship phones. 

All in all, Google and Samsung currently lead with its seven-year update commitment, making it the best choice for users prioritizing long-term software support. Apple remains a reliable and consistent option, particularly for those already invested in the iOS ecosystem.

This is not the final list by any means. Smartphone brands have yet to release the list of Android 15-supported devices. So, if your device isn’t on the list, don’t get disappointed. I would advise waiting until the official list comes out.

Google has already released several Android 15 betas, and a couple more are expected to be released in the coming weeks before it’s refined for the final release. We don’t have an official release date yet. However, it’s expected to be released in October.

Fairphone known for its smartphones with a higher repairability score is changing the TWS segment with repairable earbuds. Yes, you read that right. The brand has announced Fariphone Fairbuds that lets you repair seven parts if any of them stop working or get damaged. This is the first in the industry as TWS earphones are complicated to repair due to their small size, design and cost. They are also more prone to failures and OEMs prefer customers to purchase a new one instead of taking it to repairs. 

Fairphone Fairbuds launched with easy repairability, could change the TWS segment

Beginning with the main USP, the Fairphone Fairbuds easy repairability means that they are built to last longer. The company says that users can easily replace seven spare parts on the TWS earphones including the earbud battery, charging case battery, charging trays, case outer shells, silicone ring, earbud tips, and also the earbud. The ability to replace the batteries inside each earbud means that they can last beyond their usual lifespan which is two to three years. Users can also order a replacement for a lost earbud instead of buying an entirely new pair. 

On top of ease of repairability, Fairphone is also offering a three-year warranty on the Fairbuds. The TWS earphones costs €149 in Europe and £140 in the UK. They are available on the brand’s website and retail partners. 

The Fairphone Fairbuds have an in-ear design with a hook for comfortable and a secure fit. They come in Black and White colors and are also IP54-rated sweat resistant. The TWS earphones are equipped with 11mm titanium drivers and also three microphones in each earbud for crystal clear call quality. The audio device offers active noise cancellation and also wind noise reduction. The earbuds have in-ear detection that automatically plays and pauses when they are removed from the ear. The Fairphone Fairbuds are capable of connecting to two devices simultaneously. The earbuds are claimed to offer 6 hours of playback whereas the storage and charging case is said to deliver additional 20 hours of battery.

Fairphone has launched its newest smartphone— the Fairphone 5— with an absolutely crazy 10 years of software support and even 5 years of warranty. The handset is made out of 70% fair and recycled materials and can be easily repaired with just a Philips screwdriver. Let’s take a closer look at its specifications and pricing.

Fairphone wants the Fairphone 5 to last as long as possible. As mentioned, the handset will be eligible for a 5-year warranty and software support until at least 2031. After that, the company will extend the updates for two more years, giving you a decade of software support. The handset comes with Android 13 out of the box, and the company plans to deliver at least 5 major OS updates to the phone.

Fairphone credits their software update commitment to the Qualcomm QCM6490 processor, an industrial-grade chipset with a 6nm manufacturing process and Adreno 642L GPU. It’s akin to the Snapdragon 778G, providing mid-range performance, a notable upgrade from the Fairphone 4’s Snapdragon 750G SoC.

Talking about the other specifications, the Fairphone brings a 6.46-inch OLED with a 1,224 x 2,700px resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 880 nits. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Fairphone 5 brings a 50MP IMX800 primary rear camera with OIS and a 50MP IMX858 ultrawide lens with autofocus. You also get a 50MP camera up-front for selfies and video calls.

The Fairphone 5 has a large battery, 4,200mAh and it supports 30W charging. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.2, dual-SIM support via nano-SIM and eSIM, dual speakers, an IP55 rating, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Wi-Fi 6E.

Fairphone 5 comes in the sole 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage version, which costs €699 (~$756) in Europe and £619 (~$780) in the UK. It is offered in Matte Black, Sky Blue, and a new Transparent edition.

Having made its entry into the US market in July with the Fairphone 4, the brand is now gearing up for the launch of its upcoming smartphone, the Fairphone 5. Preliminary render leaks and details from a Geekbench listing have already given us a glimpse of the phone’s design and expected performance. Now, additional leaks have emerged, courtesy of a report by Roland Quandt on WinFuture.

Fairphone 5 specs

As per the WinFuture report, the Fairphone 5 will feature a 6.46-inch OLED display that offers a resolution of 2,770 x 1,224 pixels and a fast 90 Hz refresh rate. Renders reveal that the display will have a centered punch hole and sizable bezels.

The Fairphone 5 was initially expected to have a Snapdragon 782G chip, but a recent report reveals a different chip called the Qualcomm QCM6490. This chip is usually used in industrial stuff. The reason they went for it is because Qualcomm provides long software support. Rest assured, the phone will still be 5G compatible. Fairphone wants to give users up to 8 years of software updates, and this chip helps them do that.

The chip will reach a maximum clock speed of 2.7GHz. You can check the Geekbench performance by clicking this link. In short, it will be on par with the Snapdragon 782G. We can expect it to have 8GB RAM, and it will likely come in a single 256GB storage model. A microSD card slot is expected to be available onboard.

Moving on, the report reveals that there will be two 50MP sensors on the back, which will likely be a primary and an ultrawide lens. In addition to that, the selfie camera will also have a 50MP sensor. The report mentions that there is a slightly bigger 4200mAh onboard along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Complete waterproofing won’t be available, however, the IP55 resistance will at least protect the device from accidental splashes.

Price & availability

The Fairphone 5 is said to come with a price tag of €699 and is scheduled for launch on August 31, with shipping expected to commence at the end of September. We can expect the official announcement soon.

Google

Furthermore, Samsung’s use of recycled materials extends to the deco film for the back glass, with 80% recycled PET bottles and 10% recycled plastic applied to the front case.

Pre-consumer recycled aluminum, accounting for 30% of recovered scrap from the manufacturing process, is employed in the construction of volume keys, the side key, and the SIM tray. Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 with an average of 22% pre-consumer recycled glass is incorporated into the front screen and back cover.

In an effort to minimize waste, 100% recycled paper is used for the packaging box paper, front and back cover protector. Samsung’s commitment to lowering carbon emissions has also been recognized with the Carbon Trust’s certified ‘Carbon Footprint’ label, showing a dedication to environmentally friendly production practices.

Other brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo etc are also working towards making smartphone manufacturing and packaging sustainable with biodegradable packing and recycled materials in their products.

Back in 2021, the Fariphone 4 was launched in Europe, which recently made its way to the US market. Now, it appears that the brand is gearing up to launch a successor, as the Fairphone 5 has emerged online.

The smartphone has emerged with the model name Fairphone FP5 on Geekbench. Based on the listing, the upcoming Fairphone 5 smartphone is expected to feature an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor codenamed “lahaina.” The SoC configuration appears to consist of 1 prime core, 3 performance cores, and 4 efficiency cores, with a maximum frequency of 2.71GHz. Handling graphics-intensive tasks will be the Adreno 643 GPU.

While it is speculated that the processor could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G, the base clock speed of 1.96 GHz is a bit higher than the standard SD 782G. So it is possible that this is a tuned version of the SoC or an entirely different chip. Other than that, the device has 8GB of RAM onboard and comes pre-loaded with Android 13. Moving on to performance, the device scores 1131 points in the single-core round and 2985 points in the multi-core round of Geekbench 6. These are good performance numbers for a mid-range device.

Other details about the Fariphone 5 are currently under wraps, however, we can expect it to be a repair-friendly mid-range smartphone with a focus on reliability and privacy.

After multiple leaks that provided detailed information, Fairphone has finally unveiled the Fairbuds XL. As anticipated, the company has released the over-ear headphones in two distinct colors, both of which have a highly repairable design. Fairphone claims that the Fairbuds XL can be fixed using only a Philips head screwdriver. This means that each component, including the battery and earcups, can be replaced, even if they are subject to significant wear and tear.

Fairbuds XL headphones specs

The design of the Fairbuds XL allows for the possibility of upgrading components over time, with the potential for better speakers, mics, or other hardware to be swapped into the existing case. Leaked images of the hearables, shared by Winfuture, suggest they are made using recycled plastic materials. The speckles of different colors on the body of the headphones indicate the use of various colored plastic particles. Moreover, there are easily accessible screws that will make repairing any broken component easy. Their battery is also said to be easily replaceable.

Most hardware details of the Fairbuds XL are still anyone’s guess. The publication points out that the headphones could rely on a joystick and a physical button. The headphones will recharge their batteries via a USB Type-C port located within their right earcup. The leaked images suggest that there are four microphones, with most of them on the right earcup. Fairphone has rolled out a new Android 12 update for the Fairphone 4. The new update is a generation higher than the Android 11 OS that the phone ships with. The OS upgrade will be available for Fairphone 4 owners in most regions.

The company also states that the current performance of the update in France and Switzerland falls short of the company’s expectations. The company is thus silent on when the update will be available in both France and Switzerland. For most other markets, the upgrade rolled in on February 1, but notifications may not be immediate. Fairphone sources say that delays are also possible for some mobile carriers, and it could be up to several weeks.

Fairp21hone has announced its first major OS update for the Fairphone 4. The Fairphone 4 was released in 2021 and users are now getting the Android 12 upgrade. The sturdy design of the Fairphone 4 also showed in the bend test which it survived as well. The Dutch company Fairphone, famous for its modular phones and ethical practices, released the Fairphone 4 in September as the latest addition to their module smartphone line. The phone was recently tested on its durability and sustainability claims by the famous Youtuber, JerryRigEverything.

The Youtuber Zack Nelson first puts the phone through a disassembly and reassembly test, suitable for a phone claiming to be designed for easy dismantled and repaired by the end-user, prolonging the useful life as long as possible.

The Youtuber easily removes the back case and battery of the phone, complimenting the brand for offering the easiest battery replacement experience of 2021. Zack proceeds to easily remove the bottom module containing the speakers, the USC-C connector, the top module containing the rear camera, and the front-facing camera in a matter of minutes.

He also points out that an expert screwer can replace the display on the Fairphone 4 in about 5 minutes. It is as easy as removing 8 Phillips head screws and running a fingernail around the exterior edge of the phone.

Following that easy reassembly, the Gorilla Glass 5 screen of the smartphone is put through a scratch resistance test which shows no marks when scratched by materials with a level 5 hardness on the Mohs scale of hardness.

The aluminum chassis of the phone holds up admirably as well, only losing some color to a scrape from a box cutter. The screen is also put through the burn test with a lighter under it for 10 seconds resulting in the pixels turning black, but they recover their functionality only a few seconds later.

The Youtuber concludes the durability assessment with a bend test that sees the phone passing with flying colors as it handly has any flex when bent from both back and front. Although the Fairphone 4 may have sacrificed a slim form factor for the sake of replaceable components, it hasn’t come at the cost of its durability.

Zack’s only gripe about the phone was its lack of availability outside Europe. He concludes his video by speculating that the Fairphone might be a massive success in the U.S.A if released as not all people want the latest and greatest in tech, and some want the phone to last long.

Fairphone is gearing up to update its 6-year-old Fairphone 2 from Android 9 pie to Android 10. The phone on release came with Android 5 pre-installed and has received three Android updates (skipped Android 8 Oreo) since. The beta testing for Android 10 has begun, and the company expects to release a stable version by early 2022.

The company stays true to its motto of ethical and sustainable smartphones by providing seven years of software support and modular, replaceable components like screens, batteries, and even the camera module.

You would be correct to think that Android 10 is two generations behind the latest and greatest Android 12 and therefore is nothing special, but with most smartphone companies promising Android update support for three years after the launch of the device, getting a major Android update for a six-year-old smartphone certainly is an impressive thing.

Thankfully, some companies are raising the bar. Samsung now supports almost all of its phones with three Android upgrades and four years of security patches. Google now offers a slightly better program of three upgrades and five years of patches (only for the Pixel 6 series right now). Things are improving; however, an excessive number of companies still treat aftermarket software support as a pointless endeavor.

For those wondering what this 2015 phone is capable of, the Fairphone 2 features a 5-inch 1080×1920 IPS display with a pixel density of 446ppi. Under the hood is a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Fairphone 2 on the rear packs an 8-megapixel camera. It sports a 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies. A 2420mAh non-removable battery powers the device.

Nothing to write home about in 2021, but a testament to prove what can be possible if a company cares.

Dutch manufacturer Fairphone is fast carving a niche for itself with its sustainability-oriented products. It continues to develop products from recyclable materials, and the Fairphone TWS is being introduced to the market with some impressive functionalities.

Fairphone TWS earphones are made from recycled materials. The earbuds and the accompanying charging case are made from 30% recycled plastics. Both earbuds have a 45 mAh battery with a 500 mAh charging case. It is not clear what distance the earbuds offer as well as the charging case, as the company was silent on that. The device will be charged via USB-C, although it is still unclear whether fast charging functionality. The package will not include a charger for the device.

The Fairphone TWS is available in a single black color and is priced at 99.95 Euros ($116) and it is available for pre-order directly via Fairphone’s website and shipping will commence by November 1.

The Fairphone TWS offers hybrid Active Noise Cancelation (ANC) via Bluetooth 5.3. The earphones also come with IPX4 splash resistance. The 10mm drivers offer some balance and quality sound for the device. Each bud has two microphones, with touch controls and in-ear detection also present. The fact that these earphones are partly made from recycled materials will improve its rating among sustainability enthusiasts, and could expectedly attract more patronage for the device.

A report monitored in Germany says the FairPhone 4 5G has been certified by Wi-Fi Alliance on August 9. With this key certification obtained, we may be close to the eventual launch of the smartphone.

The FairPhone 4 5G will come with Android 11 and 5G network connectivity, which implies that its processor, possibly from Qualcomm will pack some power. FairPhone smartphones are designed to be more sustainable than most smartphones using a modular design. They are high in repairability and upgrades can be easily achieved due to the modular design.

There are also ethical considerations in the choice of materials and labor practices. FairPhone will not source materials from regions mired in conflict.

It features dual nano-SIM card slot, 4G, dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS (GPS, Glonass, Galileo), NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3,040mAh battery.
