Xiaomi has another new product from the depths of their crowdfunding service, and today’s new product is a projector. The Xiaomi Mi Projector Vogue Edition comes from third-party Xiaomi partner Fengmi, who specialize in the production of projectors. Pricing begins at 3699 yuan ($522), which really isn’t too bad for the features on offer.

Previously Fengmi had released the standard Mi Projector, which was a bulky, chunky box that focused mainly on quality. It had a high price tag, and wasn’t really suitable for the standard consumer, which is where the Vogue Edition comes in. It’s a smaller, weaker projector that’s intended for general audience to use.

In line with this idea, the Mi Projector Vogue Edition eschews a few of the features from its more powerful brother. 4K video projecting is gone, with 1080p projecting taking its place.  The brightness has also been toned down from a staggering 9000 ANSI lumens to a more modest 1500 ANSI lumens. It’s still brighter than most though, which is good.

The Mi Projector Vogue Edition comes with Fengmi’s own FAV (Feng AdvancedVideo) image optimizations. It helps with the brightness, color gamut, sharpness, skin color reproduction, HDR display and HDMI output quality. It can achieve brightness levels to up to 1500 ANSI lumens when in highlight mode. It comes with over 85% NTSC’s wide color gamut and the colour performance is rich and vivid.

It uses an upgraded graphics edge processing algorithm which can effectively distinguish the edge and details of the image object for processing. This also enhances the image clarity. The projector is also optimized for lower latency when bring streamed through HDMI. This represents a 50% improvement over previous products.

The Mi Projector Vogue Edition uses a high-performance T972 chip with a maximum frequency of 1.9GHz. This reduces power consumption by 55%. It also supports 8K video decoding. For software, it runs the same version of MIUI that comes on Xiaomi’s MiTVs. This means users can customize Smart Patchwall depending on their viewing habits.
