OPPO has a big event scheduled for Thursday, September 16, and it has lots of products planned for launch, with the key announcement being ColorOS 12. It also turns out that the Find X3 Pro Photography Edition made in collaboration with Kodak will also be announced on that day.

The date for the launch was confirmed by OPPO via a Weibo post today.

The Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition will have a dual-textured back. The upper part of the phone will be covered in metal while the remaining part will be clad in leather. Save for this design change that is meant to ape one of Kodak’s vintage cameras, we do not think there will be other differences from the standard Find X3 Pro which launched earlier this year. However, we do expect it will come in a special box and may even include custom accessories.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro was announced in March with a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz screen, a Snapdragon 888 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It also has 50MP + 50MP + 13MP + 3MP quad rear cameras and a 32MP front-facing camera.

There is a 4500mAh battery inside the phone that can charge at up to 65W via wired charging, 30W fast wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Other features are an in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 rating, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro Photographer Edition will most likely be exclusive to China just like the Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration Edition announced in May.

OnePlus officially confirmed its partnership with Swedish camera manufacturer, Hasselblad. The three-year partnership will see both companies develop imaging solutions for OnePlus phones. Huawei, on the other hand, announced the Mate 40E, which is a less-powerful version of the Mate 40. It comes with the Kirin 990E processor and also swaps the 50MP main rear camera of the Mate 40 for a 64MP sensor.

Earlier today (12th March 2021), Dang Zhuangli, the Product Line Director of Oppo, explained why the company opted for 30W wireless fast charging for its newly launched flagship Find X3 series.

In an interview with ITHome, the senior official of the Chinese tech giant responded to various questions and concerns, one of which was regarding the wireless charging rate of the new lineup. The executive stated that the company is not targetting for an instantaneous charge through a higher charging rate, rather, it went for 30W wireless charging to maintain a continuous high speed charging that is consistent throughout the duration.

In other words, the company went with 30W so that the charging rates could be maintained for a longer period of time, which also improves charging efficiency. Furthermore, the company director also talked about the Z-axis motor housed in the Find X3 series, saying that the choice of hardware used does not negatively impact the users’ experience.

He further added that Oppo has used a mix of software and motors to adjust the vibration curve to offer the best experience, despite the limited hardware. In other words, despite the Find X3 series not sporting the X-axis motor found in the previous gen Find X2 series, it still offers a great experience and good user feedback via the vibration system.

OPPO will be taking off covers from the OPPO Find X3 series of smartphones in China on March 11. The Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Lite are not launching in China since they are rebranded versions of the Reno5 5Gv and Reno5 Pro+ 5G phones that were announced back in December in the home market. China is expected to receive two phones namely, the OPPO Find X3 and Find X3 Pro on the said date. Ahead of the launch, the reservations of the Find X3 and X3 Pro phones have started through OPPO’s online store, JD.com, and other Chinese retailer sites.

The official renders of the Find X3 Pro that can be found in the retailer listings show that it features a curved edge display with a hole-punch placed at the upper-left corner. There is a squarish camera housing on the backside of the Find X3. It houses four cameras and an LED flash.

The Find X3’s reservations listing shows that its front and rear appearance resembles the Pro model. Shown below is an official promo video released by the brand.

OPPO’s upcoming Find X3 smartphone has been spotted at benchmarking sites like AIDA64, AnTuTu, and Geekbench in recent weeks. The Snapdragon 870 SoC powered phone has appeared in Master Lu benchmarks now. The listing has revealed the key details of the smartphone.

It is already known that the OPPO Find X3 has a model number of PEDM00. Its Master Lu appearance has revealed that it is fueled by a 3.2GHz processor. According to Master Lu and previous findings, the Find X3 is equipped with the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform. It also reveals that the device has  8 G of RAM, 128 GB of native storage, and a screen that offers a QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels.

The OPPO Find X3 scored 263,002 in the CPU test, 319,087 in the GPU test, 75,547 in the memory test, and 133,830 in the storage test of Master Lu. It achieved a total score of 791,466. Such a score ranks the device as a high-end smartphone at Master Lu.

It was found through the TENAA listing of the device that it has a 6.78-inch. The handset seems to feature an OLED with a punch-hole design. It is expected to arrive with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. Its battery size is not known yet. However, its 3C certification suggested that it may ship with a 65W fast charger.

It is speculated to feature a 6.78-inch OLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution. The Find X3 Pro could be featuring a same-sized display, but it is expected to support Quad HD+ resolution.

The screengrabs of the AIDA64 benchmarks, AnTuTu appearance, and About Phone page of the OPPO PEDM00 phone show that it features a Qualcomm chip with ‘sm8250’ model number, Adreno 650 GPU, and ‘kona’ codename. In March 2020, OPPO unveiled the OPPO Find X2 and Find X2 Prov flagship phones. The company is expected to unveil the Find X3 and Find X3 Pro by Q1 2021. A mysterious OPPO phone with model number PEEM00 has appeared in AnTuTu benchmarks. It has set a record at AnTuTu by scoring a remarkable benchmark score of 771K+.

Last week, the unannounced iQOO 7 was spotted at AnTuTu with 752K+. The mysterious PEEM00 phone has managed to salvage a better score of 771,491 on the benchmarking platform. However, it is unclear whether the PEEM00 OPPO smartphone is Find X3 or Find X3 Pro smartphone. Like the iQOO 7, the Find X3 series will be equipped with the Snapdragon 888 flagship SoC.

In December, reputed tipster Evan Blass had leaked the specifications of the Find X3 Pro. He had revealed that the flagship phone will be equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED panel with curved edges. It will produce a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels, a 10-bit color depth, and a pixel density of 525ppi. The screen will also support an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 10Hz to 120Hz.

There is no word on the front camera of the Find X3 Pro, but its rear is expected to feature a quad-camera setup. It will include a pair of Sony IMX766 50-megapixel cameras, one will function as the main lens and the other one has an ultrawide snapper. A 13-megapixel telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom will be available as a third camera. Lastly, there will be a 3-megapixel macro lens that can operate like a microscope with a 25x zoom.

At the beginning of this month, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 888 mobile chipset for 2021’s flagship phone. After the launch, OPPO confirmed that its Find X3 series of flagship smartphones will be driven by the SD888 SoC. The Find X3 and Find X3 Pro phones are expected to get announced in the first quarter of 2021. Well ahead of the launch, popular tipster Evan Blass has revealed the key specifications and features of the Find X3 Pro.

The tipster revealed that the Find X3 Pro is codenamed as Fussi and the device could be promoted with an “Awaken Color” tagline to highlight its 10-bit color support. The leak reveals that the Find X3 Pro will carry support for a full-path color management system that will make it possible for its display to natively support 10-bit color depth. In other words, the Find X3 Pro will be able to produce images in 1.07 billion colors just as the images captured by its quad cameras.

The Find X3 Pro has a 6.7-inch curved OLED display that will support 1440 x 3216 pixels resolution, a 525ppi pixel density, and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 10Hz to 120Hz like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. It is unclear whether the smartphone has a punch-hole display. The curved back of the Find X3 Pro could be available in ceramic glaze or matte-frosted glass options. OPPO did not share any information on the specs of the Find X3 series. The company had recently revealed that the Find X3 will come with a “full-path color management system” that will make it possible to capture, store, and display images in full DCI-P3 gamut and 10-bit color depth. The next flagship phone from OPPO will be from the Reno5 series. It said that the Reno5 series has three phones and the highest model is equipped with the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. Hence, the SD870 could be seen on some other flagship phones from the brand.

The tipster revealed that the Snapdragon 870 is an overclocked version of the SD865 in the true sense. It will not only offer faster CPU speeds but also it will offer better GPU performance as compared to the SD865 chip. The SD870 can clock up to 3.2GHz and its GPU can work at 905MHz. The Adreno 650 GPU that comes with the SD865 works at 600MHz.
