A recent video has been circulating on social media in China that shows a car going up in flames. The vehicle in question is the Li Auto L9 model, which is a hybrid SUV and the second ever car built by the company.

For those unaware, the L9 SUV is a hybrid car and offered the longest electric range of any PHEV (Plug in Hybrid Vehicle) in the world, with a max range of 215 kilometers. This model was officially unveiled by the Chinese automobile manufacturer back in March 2022 and offered another 2,116 kilometers range from its fuel tank as well. Now, one such model was spotted spontaneously combusting into flames in the city of Jinan, in the Shandong Province of China.

Based on online post, the social media user claimed that the vehicle owner heard a loud sound inside the car while driving. This loud bang was apparently related to the car’s braking system, which indicators had revealed were failing. So after pulling over to the side of the road, the Li Auto L9 SUV model was in flames in just under a minute later. The company has responded to the matter and stated that it has involved the local departments and is working on finding the cause for this accident through a thorough investigation.

There could be various reasons why this vehicle went into flames, although, there were previous reports regarding an L9 test car also experiencing a suspension issue on the left front wheel. Whether these two incidents can be somehow point to an issue with the car overall is still unclear, so we will to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.

Now, another EV has gone up in flames in India. And this time, it is the Pure EV e-scooter that has made the headlines again.

In a video shared on YouTube, we can see another Pure EV electric scooter going up in flames. Notably, this marks the fourth electric scooter from the brand to have caught fire in India. Back in September 2021, two e-scooters of the same model were engulfed in flames in Hyderabad, while another model recently caught fire in Chennai in March 2022. Furthermore, there have also been other e-scooter models from other brands like Ola, Okinawa, and more that have suffered from fire related accidents.

The latest incident comes from Warangal in Telangana, where a red Pure EV Pluto burst into flames. It was parked on the side of the road, with the video showing the vehicle being engulfed in smoke and flames. There were also sounds of the fresh lithium ion cells catching fire, which was indicative through the occasional popping sound. It is believed that the chain reaction signified a thermal runaway that has been a major issue behind most fire accidents related to EVs.

This marks the 6th EV fire incident in India now. As of right now, the Road Transport Ministry has directed the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) to begin an in depth investigation and find out the causes behind this by the end of this month. It remains to be seen what results are uncovered regarding this matter, so stick around for more updates.

The news arrives following a statement shared by the DGCA (Via 91Mobiles). Apparently, the cabin crew member for the IndiGo flight noticed that the smartphone was sparking, with even smoke being emitted. Thus, the device was taken and the fire was doused immediately with a fire extinguisher. As per the official news, no one was injured during this incident and the flight also landed safely. Notably, the flight was from Dibrugarh to Delhi on April 14.

The DGCA stated that the smartphone caught fire due to an abnormal overheating issue with the battery. Furthermore, the aircraft landed safely at the Delhi airport around 12.45 pm on Thursday, with the ordeal occurring in the IndiGo flight of 6E 2037. In a separate statement, IndiGo said that “There was an incident of a mobile device battery heating up abnormally on flight 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi. The crew is trained to manage all hazardous incidences and they quickly managed the situation. There was no harm caused to any passenger or property onboard.”

While the incident is rare, it is not entirely an isolated incident. With electronics becoming more common in day to day usage, airlines across the globe have also begun taking necessary steps of precaution. This includes carrying fire suppression equipment to help take care of any unfortunate fire accidents. As of right now, the lithium ion battery in the smartphone is being blamed for the incident. So stay tuned for more updates regarding this matter.

The video depicts the vehicle crashing and then catching on fire and even led to the death of a person.

According to an ITHome report, the electric car from the American automobile maker was seen trying to overtake a moving car from behind, after which, the car hit a concrete bridge on the side of the road. This crash likely damaged the car’s engine that caused it to catch fire. The fire then became surrounded by a raging fire that eventually led to just the car’s frame being left behind.

The accident was announced by Guangzhou Zengcheng Police in China earlier today (21st April 2021). This incident took place in the Zengcheng District at about 10 pm on 17th April 2021 in the Southeast Asian nation. Preliminary investigations found that the accident involved two cars, including the Tesla, but the other vehicles and passengers were mostly safe from any injuries. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.]

Notably, the company has already responded to the authorities regarding the accident and will even be cooperating with the local police force immediately to help in the investigation to deal with the incident. It was the G3 model, which was parked at a charging station in the Tianhe District, Guangzhou, where it spontaneously combusted into flames.

According to a Zaobao report, the Xpeng G3 model caught fire at a charging station on 14th April 2021. The reports state that the fire was intense with a lot of white smoke being emitted. This incident also arrives on the same day the Chinese electric vehicle maker released its third new model, the Xiaopeng P5. Furthermore, the company even confirmed that the report was true and that it will be forming a team to investigate the accident and find out the cause of the fire.

Notably, the owner of the vehicle is safe and there was no harm to any other individual either. Looking at the statistics, the recent events marks the seventh accident of the company’s car since 2019. Out of this figure, two of them are related to fires as well. Unfortunately, finer details regarding the matter and the Xpeng’s investigation is still unknown at the moment. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available.

The lady who was standing during the trip was holding her phone when it started smoking causing her to quickly drop it, resulting in a commotion.

Images from the camera on the bus shows passengers fleeing to the exits while the bus was in motion. The driver on realizing what was happening had to quickly stop the vehicle to allow passengers get off. The fire was eventually put out and no one was reported to be injured.

[envira-gallery id=”130863″]

An investigation team that analysed the CCTV footage said the lady was seen using a headset with the phone earlier. There is no report yet as to what led to the phone bursting into flames but the fire left a scorch mark on the floor before it was put out.

The phone appears to be a Redmi Note 2 judging from the speaker grille at the base and its lack of a fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi has not released a statement about the incident but we believe they should be aware already.
