Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 Features and Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 comes with a 40mm AMOLED display in a rectangular design and a resolution of 256 x 402 pixels. It has a 208-mAh battery, and after full charge, it can last up to 13 days. The Galaxy Fit 3 tracks the heart rate, SpO2, sleep, stress levels, and various exercises. However, the data can be viewed in the Samsung Health app. It has an Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro, Optical heart rate sensor, and light sensor.

The Fitness Band pairs with 16 MB of RAM and 256 MB of storage. In terms of connectivity options, the Galaxy Fit 3 has Bluetooth 5.3. However, GPS connectivity is missing on the fitness trackers. The Galaxy Fit 3 has an IP68 rating, and 5ATM-rated dust and water resistance.

As the fitness band market slowly matures into a saturation point like the current generation of slab smartphones, the next expected upgrade would be more screen real estate for the user to utilise. For smartphones, the next generational leap is set to be foldables, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Oppo Find N, and rollables such as the Oppo X 2021 and TCL concept devices with their flexible displays. 

For fitness bands, Xiaomi seems to think that flexible displays are the future for fitness bands as well because the company has been developing a new design for its fitness bands by utilising flexible displays.

The news comes from one of China’s patent databases as Xiaomi recently got approved of its design patent to build a fitness band that includes a rollable-type flexible display in the build of the device. The design of the device is as follows, whereby ‘A’ is pointing at the section where the flexible display will be installed.

According to the patent listing, the name of the patent design is called “Smart Bracelet”, and its function is categorised under wearables. The patent highlights that the unique design of smart band focuses on the shape and ergonomics of the fitness band. 

The patent includes views of the design of the fitness band from multiple angles and it is as follows:

Xiaomi is not the first manufacturer that has experimented with flexible display for wearables, as back in 2020, Nubia had released its Nubia Watch with a flexible display that rolled up until it could wrap the front of your wrists. 

The Nubia Watch features a 4.01-inch super flexible AMOLED screen that tends to wrap around the wrist. The dial is made from a lightweight aluminium alloy manufactured using a nano-injection process while it uses biomedical-grade ceramics on the side. The overall lightweight design makes it lighter to wear.

The Nubia Watch was launched on Kickstarter and carried a starting price of $179 in September 2020.

It’s been more than a year since Microsoft cancelled the Microsoft Band lineup forever. Although the Band 2 was one of the greatest fitness trackers in the market, the Redmond giant decided not to believe in its wristbands line anymore. But it seems that the Band 3 was already finished and almost ready to launch around that time. Our colleagues from Windows Central got their hands on a prototype of the canceled Band 3 and they reviewed it. From the review, we can clearly deduce that the Microsoft Band 3 is a solid improvement over its predecessor.

First of all, the Microsoft Band 3 is more comfortable to wear due to a slimmer bulk at the back, and it is also more compact too. Besides a slimmer clasp, there is also an action button which is not coated in black anymore, and these are the most important differences when it comes to aesthetics. Talking about the performances, the charging time has been improved: this wristband only takes an hour to go from 10 percent to 100 percent, while its predecessor needed one hour and a half. The Band 2 was water-resistant, but the Band 3 is fully waterproof: this means that it could be used even while swimming.

There are two new sensors on the Microsoft Band 3: electrocardiogram and RFID sensors which enable the RFID tag support. Among the most important new features, there is the swimming exercise tracking and an enhanced well-being tracking. The rest of the sensors are exactly the same which were present in the Band 2 without any miss. The smart band seems to have the same dimensions (12.8 x 32 mm) except for the thickness, and it has a curved AMOLED display just like its predecessor, with a resolution of 320 x 128 pixels. To connect to the phones, it features the Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy connectivity. According to Windows Central, Microsoft Band 3 would have been the best smart band ever made by Microsoft but alas, not all good products see the light of the day!

Meizu was rumored to be working on a new smartband and the company has just unveiled this brand new device alongside the Meizu M5 Note today. The device comes with all the features that you would expect in a fitness smartband and like tradition, Meizu has priced the band aggressively at just 229 Yuan ($31).

So, what do you get at this price?

The Meizu band comes with an integrated OLED touchscreen display. Many smartbands today have a non-integrated body, which means you can remove it from the strap. However, Meizu is using a different approach here by using an integrated design with double component injection technology. This is probably why the Meizu band looks curvier and I am sure many will like this design. It definitely looks more stylish than some other offerings at this price. Charging the Meizu Band is also an easy process since it comes with a magnetic USB charging cable that sticks to the device. You get more than 7 days of usage on a single charge w/ heart rate sensor and around 15 days without using the sensor.

As for the features, the Meizu Band is IP67 certified which means you don’t have to worry about water splashes or dust. The OLED screen reveals all the important data like the time, number of steps taken, calories burned as well as the heart rate. The heart rate sensor is from AMS and it even notifies you if your rate exceeds a set maximum rate. The band will also monitor your sleep patterns and features a built-in snooze alarm which wakes you up softly.

The Meizu Band connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and can alert you about the incoming phone calls and messages. Further, you can use its Find My Phone feature that alerts you when the distance between your smartphone and the band exceeds 10 meters.

The Meizu Band is already up for pre-order in China and will be up for grabs on December 8. Note that, as of now, the company has not revealed any plans for an international release.
