Xiaomi has released many noise-canceling earbuds over the past year, such as the Air 2 Pro, Flipbuds Pro, and Redmi AirDots 3 Pro. We have also done their review videos, and they all have more or less some shortcomings. And will today’s protagonist, Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro, be able to wash away its shame and make up for its shortcomings to become Xiaomi’s most perfect earbuds?

Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro Review: Design & Fit

Based on Xiaomi’s pricing, the Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro is not as well-positioned as the Flipbuds Pro. The Flipbuds Pro looks more premium with its glossy piano finish. But it doesn’t mean that the Buds 3 Pro lags behind the Flipbuds Pro in terms of design. The Buds 3 Pro Case is smaller than the Flipbuds Pro while still keeping the wireless charging feature. The usual problem of the glossy surface being easily scratched also makes the frosted surface of the Buds 3 Pro more advantageous in long-term use. When stained with fingerprints, the Flipbuds Pro looks and feels more unpleasant. So if the Flipbuds Pro is all about beauty at the expense of actual usage experience, the Buds 3 Pro is a balance of beauty and practicality. I really like the design of the Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro this time, thumbs up.

The Buds 3 Pro is designed with more attention to detail than the Flipbuds Pro, and this attention can be seen when you open the lid. buds 3 Pro can pick up the earbuds and put them on directly, while the Flipbuds Pro requires the earbuds to be rotated one more turn before they can be placed in the ear. There is a small bump on the Buds 3 Pro earbud stem that allows you to feel which area you can press when you press to operate.

The Buds 3 Pro is also smaller than the Flipbuds Pro, and the earbud bar has been slimmed down. The problem of the earbuds being too big and causing the ears to be squeezed uncomfortably, as mentioned in our Flipbuds Pro review video, has also been completely solved with the Buds 3 Pro. The weight of the Buds 3 Pro is also lighter. I’m happy to say that the comfort problem that has plagued Xiaomi’s earbuds for three generations has finally been solved with the Buds 3 Pro. The comfort of the Buds 3 Pro is now top notch.

Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro Review: Sound Quality & Noise Cancelation

The Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro’s noise cancellation level is not quite the same as the Flipbuds Pro: excellent overall, but weak on windy days. It’s the same issue with wind noise resistance described in the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro review video. The wind noise immunity algorithm focuses on mitigating the effects of wind on noise cancellation by turning off the front-feed microphone, so when the wind blows, you’ll feel the noise cancellation suddenly become weaker. Of course, the Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro will still be better than the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro in terms of noise cancellation even with the front-feed microphone turned off, so don’t worry about that. From my personal point of view, the Buds 3 Pro is much better than the Flipbuds Pro when it comes to windy conditions where the front-feed microphone is not even turned off and your ears are buzzing. 

The Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro’s sound quality is excellent with the LHDC 4.0 protocol. The three frequencies are very well balanced and vocals and instruments are not mixed together. Compared to the Flipbuds Pro, which has more low frequencies, there are fewer unique, but more balanced. And these earbuds are the kind of earbuds that can restore any music very well. This is actually very rare, as each flagship earbud has its own tuning tendencies. buds 3 Pro’s balanced performance even has a hint of HIFI headphones. However, LHDC 4.0 is currently only supported by the Xiaomi Civi, so other phones can only use the AAC Bluetooth protocol for now.

The Buds 3 Pro also has a lot of new features this time around. We won’t go into the features that are also available on Flipbuds Pro like Ear tip fit test and Missing earphone alert, but I’ll introduce you to some brand-new features that are available on Buds 3 Pro for the first time. Noise Cancelation Mode adds the Adaptive option for the first time to adjust the intensity of noise reduction. There is also the Track head movement function. It can simulate the effect of the sound source position on the volume of the sound channel. This function is the Android version of Dynamic head tracking, but after opening the sound quality is more degraded, I do not recommend opening it in the daily listening time. There are also a lot of options for customizing Gestures. You can say that Xiaomi has added all the features that are available on the earbuds to Buds 3 Pro for you. We’ve also tested the compatibility with other phones for you. With Mi AI installed, the Buds 3 Pro works fine with all the features except Missing earphone alert and Track head movement. The only problem is the same as before, the Chinese only Mi AI will be very painful for people who don’t know Chinese.

Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro Review: Battery Life

Maybe because it’s lighter and smaller, the Buds 3 Pro’s battery life is shorter. The earbuds and earbud case last about an hour shorter than the Flipbuds Pro. However, it should not be a problem to finish watching a full movie.

Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro Review: Verdict

As you might expect, it seems that the Buds 3 Pro completely beats the Flipbuds Pro. smaller, lighter and more durable design, decent noise cancellation and sound quality, more comprehensive features and a top-notch wearing experience, and most importantly, it’s cheaper.

All of these make the Buds 3 Pro the best choice among Xiaomi earbuds to buy. If you are a Xiaomi phone user who needs an earbud, buying it is definitely the best choice.

Earlier today (28th July 2021), Xiaomi shared a new announcement regarding the latest firmware update for its FlipBuds Pro. With the new update, the TWS earbuds are now the first in the world to feature Qualcomm’s high end audio technology, Snapdragon Sound.

In a social media post, the Chinese tech giant revealed the new update and some of the key changes arriving to the earbuds as well. The firmware build is version 7.6.2.9 and officially brings Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound audio technology to the FlipBuds Pro. Through this, the earbuds will now receive three major features, which include a high definition audio transmission that can reach 48kHz to up to 96kHz. Furthermore, the calling capabilities have also been improved with ultra clear calls through 16kHz to 32kHz.

The final major upgrade is to the latency, with the device now offering an ultra low latency of just 89ms. This would prove great for people that use these wireless earphones while gaming on their smartphones. For those unaware, Qualcomm had launched the Snapdragon Sound audio technology back in March 2021. It arrives as an upgrade to the chipmaker’s existing aptX adaptive codec and offers a stronger anti interference and lower delays that is consistent with LDAC and LHDC. This technology even helps boost active noise cancellation performance and calling as well.

Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its new high end noice cancelling earbuds. The product is officially confirmed to be the FlipBuds Pro that is set to launch tomorrow (13th May 2021). But just prior to its launch, a company official has revealed some additional details regarding the true wireless earphones.

The additional details were shared by the Chinese tech giant’s Vice President’s official Weibo account (@常程). In the online post, the executive shared multiple screenshots that shared a bunch of smaller details regarding the upcoming FlipBuds Pro TWS earbuds. Looking at these images, it can be observed that the new earphones will offer noise reduction in three different modes, which includes a high, mid, and low settings that can be switched on the basis of the users’ requirements.

In other words, it can be used in the office, for daily use, and other scenarios as well. The company has also equipped the FlipBuds Pro with the transparent mode that was well received on the Apple AirPods Pro. This mode essentially allows the user to hear their surroundings and avoid complete isolation through the mic, which can be useful in certain situations. Furthermore, the earbuds will also feature a search mode that will allow for an easier way of finding the FlipBuds Pro if they are lost nearby.

Notably, the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro will also support Qualcomm’s aptX Bluetooth certification that allows for better sound quality with reduced latency. Since the new TWS earbuds are premium grade product from the company, it arrives with top end specifications, features, and design. Yesterday, Xiaomi revealed that it will be launching a new pair of truly wireless earphones with ANC on May 13. Today, the company has not only shared two more teaser images but also the official name of this product.

The upcoming Xiaomi wireless earbuds are called Mi FlipBuds Pro, as per the official Xiaomi Smart Life Weibo account. The two teaser pictures posted by the company earlier today expose the front design of the charging case as well as the buds themselves. 

For those unaware, yesterday’s teaser poster showcased the rear side of the charging case with the new ‘Xiaomi’ branding. The firm claims that it has designed this audio accessory in line with its new logo.

But to our eyes, the design of the Xiaomi Mi FlipBuds Pro looks like a combination of Apple AirPods Pro and HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro. The charging case seems to be inspired by the latter, whereas the buds look a lot like the former.

That said, this is not the first time we are hearing about the word ‘FlipBuds Pro’. That’s because Xiaomi had already trademarked the terms ‘FlipBuds’ and ‘FlipBuds Pro’ back in February. In late April, a rumor also suggested that the company was building a new product team for this new lineup of TWS.

Unfortunately, not much is known about these truly wireless earphones except that they will be able to reduce noise by up to 40db, and will have an LED indicator on the front of the charging case, which will also sport the new Xiaomi logo on its back.

In the last quarter of 2020, Xiaomi launched a pair of truly wireless earphones called Mi Air 2 Pro in China. The main highlight of this product is the presence of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). Now, seven months later, the company is teasing yet another TWS with ANC.

Earlier today, the official Xiaomi Smart Life Weibo account posted a teaser render of an upcoming pair of truly wireless earphones. Unfortunately, the picture only showcases the rear side of the TWS’ charging case.

Also, both the image and the post do not reveal much about the product. All they say is that the charging case of these new ANC-equipped wireless earbuds from Xiaomi will flaunt the company’s new logo. The firm also claims that this product is designed in line with the new ‘Xiaomi’ logo.

This audio accessory could be called ‘Mi Noise Reduction Pro’ (translated) in China, as per the hashtag used in the teaser post. Last but not least, these earbuds will be launching on May 13.

Although not much is known about this product as of today, we expect to learn more about it before its official release later this week. Above all, information about these earbuds should come from this very same Xiaomi Smart Life Weibo account in the form of teasers in the next few days.

Earlier today (18th February 2021), a new trademark application from Xiaomi had surfaced online. This new applications was for the company’s FlipBuds and FlipBuds Pro, which are likely an upcoming hearables product.

According to an ITHome report, the trademark application from the Chinese tech giant was found in the Qicha app, which carried the registration for FlipBuds and FlipBuds Pro. This application arrived with international classification that included 9 types of scientific instruments, 7 types of mechanical equipment, 42 types of design research. These are likely the components and internal hardware that will be found in the company’s upcoming audio product.

At the moment, Xiaomi has launched various hearables products, with many of the offerings being wireless and connect via Bluetooth. Unfortunately, apart from the trademark application for the name of the product, no other finer details are available regarding the upcoming headphones. Although, we can make a few educated guesses. Looking at its name, the FlipBuds are also likely to be a truly wireless earbuds, which have recently grown in popularity.

The ‘Buds’ in the name is suggestive of its individual earpieces, which will arrive in two variants. Furthermore, the higher end Pro variant could arrive with features like active noise cancellation that might not be available in the base model. Unfortunately, this is just a speculation at this point so take this with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available.
