FLX has unveiled a new electric bicycle based on the iconic Schwinn Stringray bike. The FLX Menace’s classic design draws nostalgic feelings from users who had the privilege of riding or seeing the Stingray.

The Timeless Schwinn Stingray that debuted in the 1960s has certainly reincarnated in the Menace. The Stingray was an instant hit to grade school kids of those years and the Menace could continue in that trajectory. The new electric bicycle comes with a swooping frame, banana seat, and tall ape hanger handlebars. FLX says true classics are timeless and come back again and again even better. The Menace has all the charm together with a modern touch.

The Stingray debuted as a single-speed model but later got the Silk Shift, a 3-speed model that was later banned due to design problems in its shift system. The FLX Menace will not have such problems with safety and performance issues well covered. It uses a rear hub motor which takes care of the absence of changeable gears and uses a belt drive system. It also features a pair of Magura hydraulic disc brakes and rear pillion pegs for a passenger.

The FLX Menace has a rigid frame design and much of its performance parameters are lacking at this time. It is expected to have a top speed of up to 45km/h and a decent assistance range. Its battery sits underneath the seat but FLX hasn’t revealed the capacity yet.

FLX has begun accepting $100 reservations for the Menace and it is estimated to cost $1,999. The release date of the FLX Menace is the summer of 2023. Its retro-styling and classic features could however spur demand and reservation for the Menace.
