<h2>XPeng Huitian Flying Car targets mass production in Q4 2025</h2>

<p>The company through an announcement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has detailed a significant collaboration between Guangdong XPeng and Guangdong Huitian, both under XPeng Motors&#8217; umbrella. This partnership is formalized on January 2, 2024.</p>

<p>Guangdong Huitian, controlled by He Xiaopeng, the major shareholder of XPeng Motors, is primarily focused on the research and development of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/flying-cars/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">flying cars</a>. Guangdong XPeng, a subsidiary of XPeng Motors, will contribute its expertise in design and technical development, playing a pivotal role in the assembly of these innovative vehicles.</p>

<p>The XPeng Huitian&#8217;s modular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/flying-car/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">flying car</a> &#8220;Land Aircraft Carrier&#8221; features a unique land-air integrated design, with a detachable and recombining land and flying body. The land body can carry 4-5 passengers, is equipped with a hybrid power system, and offers a three-axle six-wheel automotive design for enhanced mobility.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-1024x576.webp?x10805" alt="Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier" class="wp-image-595594" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-1024x576.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-1536x864.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-1068x601.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1-747x420.webp 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Xpeng-Land-Aircraft-Carrier-1.webp 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The flying body is a fully electric, manned aircraft with vertical take-off capability, suitable for low-altitude flight, and available in both manual and automatic driving modes. It can be charged within the cabin, safeguarding against environmental elements.</p>

<p>XPeng Huitian is targeting mass production by Q4 2025, with Guangdong XPeng handling the final assembly. This ambitious timeline reflects XPeng&#8217;s commitment to bringing this revolutionary technology to market as soon as possible.</p>

<p>Of course, challenges lie ahead. Regulatory hurdles, infrastructure development, and public safety concerns all need to be addressed. But with its innovative design and determined partners, XPeng Huitian is paving the way for a future where flying cars become commonplace, transforming how we live, work, and travel.</p>

<p>Flying cars have been one of the most popular fantasies for human beings in the past few centuries. From science fiction books written in the 1800s to movies and TV series of the 1900s and today, this technology exists in every content that depicts our near future. Moreover, our persistent imagination has also brought action. Today, many companies are working to make a real flying car, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/26/alef-aeronautics-2500-pre-orders-flying-car/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">some are incredibly close to real-life use</a>. The latest example of this came from China. SinoJet, an investor in the field, bought 100 flying cars from Geely&#8217;s Aerofugia. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>SinoJet Signs Deal to Purchase 100 Flying Cars from Aerofugia</strong></h2>

<p>Many of us are familiar with Geely as a company that produces various car models. However, Geely is involved in many other industries too. Recently, there are even expectations that the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/29/automaker-geely-to-launch-a-smartphone-company-targets-production-of-3-million-units/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">will enter the smartphone market</a> with a new brand. Another interesting area where this Chinese company operates is flying cars. A few years ago, Geely started working on creating flying cars. During this time, they made significant investments and even collaborated with another initiative called Volocopter to speed up the process. Now, it seems all these efforts have paid off.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-554155" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/sinojet-buys-100-geely-aerofugia-flying-cars-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>SinoJet, a Chinese airline company, has taken a significant leap towards the future of transportation. They&#8217;ve struck a deal with Aerofugia, a subsidiary set up by Geely for its flying cars. SinoJet plans to purchase 100 AE200 flying cars from them, which are vehicles that can ascend and descend like a helicopter. This feature is known as &#8216;vertical take-off and landing&#8217;, or VTOL. </p>

<p>According to Guo Liang, CEO and lead scientist of Aerofugia, the AE200 has wings on both sides, and eight rotors that can tilt. One big plus of the AE200 is that it doesn&#8217;t need a runway to take off or land. This means we could see flying car landing spots on top of office buildings or shopping centers in the future. The cost to travel by flying car could be two to three times the cost of a taxi, but it would be a lot quicker.</p>

<p>Especially in big cities, getting to the airport can be a major problem due to traffic. This is why many people need to set off early to catch their flight. If you are short on time and willing to pay the cost, SinoJet&#8217;s taxi fleet of Aerofugia AE200s could greatly simplify your life. Moreover, the AE200 uses electric power to fly. </p>

<p>So it can travel around 300 kilometers in the air on a single charge, and even further when driving on roads. This deal between SinoJet and Aerofugia could signal the start of a new way of traveling. Although it&#8217;s currently exclusive to China, it&#8217;s expected to be used worldwide in the near future due to its functionality.</p>

<p>For a long time, people have dreamed of flying cars. This idea often pops up in famous sci-fi movies like Star Wars. Sadly, the technology isn&#8217;t quite there yet, even with ongoing research. However, we&#8217;re getting closer to making this dream a reality. Xiaopeng recently showcased a flying car prototype with four wheels and propellers. It can fly, but it still needs some fine-tuning. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2>Xiaopeng&#8217;s Flying Car Prototype Aims for Stability and Reduced Noise</h2>

<p>Guangdong Huitian Aerospace Technology has been granted a patent for their innovative &#8220;flying car.&#8221; This remarkable vehicle combines the best of both worlds, boasting four wheels for road use and four propellers for flight. A car blogger recently shared a flight demonstration of the prototype, highlighting its capabilities while also pointing out areas for improvement. (<a href="https://weibo.com/5148153495/Mxd6R8L1C" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">You can watch the video of the vehicle by clicking</a> <a href="https://weibo.com/5148153495/Mxd6R8L1C" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.)</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="600" height="370" data-id="523216"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype-1.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-523216" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype-1.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype-1-300x185.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype-1-356x220.png 356w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="600" height="376" data-id="523217"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-523217" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/xiaopeng-flying-car-prototype-300x188.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>Although the prototype differs slightly from the patent drawings, it maintains the key features of four wheels and propellers. The flight demonstration showed that the vehicle is capable of flying, but its stability and lack of vertical take-off indicate that there is room for enhancement.</p>

<p>During the demonstration, it was evident that the flying car generates a considerable amount of noise. Additionally, the powerful winds created by the propellers disturbed nearby branches. These factors emphasize the need for further development before the flying car is ready for mass production and everyday use.</p>

<p>In addition to the flying car, Xiaopeng Huitian has developed the Luhanger X2, a two-seater flying car that has received a chartered flight certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The Luhanger X2 has completed over 3,000 test flights since its first successful flight in June 2021. With impressive specs like a maximum take-off weight of 560kg, a battery life of 35 minutes, and a top flight speed of 130km/h, mass production is set to begin in 2024 at an affordable price point.</p>

<p>Xiaopeng&#8217;s flying car prototype offers an exciting glimpse into the future of transportation. Although the initial demonstration revealed its ability to fly, it also highlighted areas where refinement is needed before mass production can commence. As Xiaopeng Huitian continues to perfect their flying car technology, we can look forward to a revolutionary shift in how we travel.</p>

Hyundai Motor Group has just launched a new Urban Air Mobility Division that is concerned with the development of commercial flying car technology. The company&#8217;s interest in this field isn&#8217;t surprising given that the urban air mobility sector is expected to grow into a $1.5 trillion USD market in the next 20 years.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_231276" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-231276" style="width: 995px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/bell-nexus-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-231276 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/bell-nexus-2.jpg?x10805" alt="bell-nexus-2 flying car" width="995" height="584" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/bell-nexus-2.jpg 995w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/bell-nexus-2-300x176.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/bell-nexus-2-768x451.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 995px) 100vw, 995px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-231276" class="wp-caption-text">This is the BELL NEXUS flying car concept showcased at CES 2019</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Hyundai&#8217;s air mobility division will be headed by Dr. Jaiwon Shin, an experienced aeronautics engineer who used to lead NASA&#8217;s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate. He has overseen projects that include a supersonic X-plane, UAS traffic management, and Urban Air Mobility. Under Dr. Shin&#8217;s leadership, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hyundai">Hyundai</a> wants to establish itself &#8216;as a driving force in urban air mobility&#8217;.</p>
<p>The Urban Air Mobility division will be involved in coming up with innovative and smart solutions to ever-increasing traffic problems across the globe. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/flying-cars">Flying cars</a> could be one of these solutions.</p>
<p>Flying cars has been a concept that has long piqued the interest of companies <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/08/ubers-partner-bell-showcases-its-nexus-flying-taxi-design-for-the-first-time-at-ces-2019/">such as Uber</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/09/intel-shows-off-volocopter-battery-operated-flying-car-ces-2018/">Volocopter</a>. With Hyundai jumping into this emerging industry, it remains to be seen whether we&#8217;ll be able to see a commercial flying taxi or car anytime in the next 10 years.</p>
