However, the latest reports regarding the foldable Pixel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/16/google-pixel-fold-cancelled/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">hinted at the device no longer being in development</a>. But it seems that this might not be the case anymore.</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://twitter.com/DSCCRoss/status/1493343643448582149" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Ross Young</em></a> from DSCC, the Search Engine giant has apparently revived its foldable smartphone project. Now, the company is planning on starting the production for the Pixel Fold&#8217;s display in the third quarter of this year. Ross Young further added that the device is set to launch in the fourth and final quarter of 2022. Unfortunately, apart from these timelines, the tweet did not reveal any finer details regarding this upcoming handset.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-417122 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Google" width="1024" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3-300x198.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3-768x507.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3-696x459.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/google-pixel-fold-render-3-636x420.jpg 636w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Although, we do have some information based on our previous reports. The Pixel Fold will reportedly sport a LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. On the rear, it was believed to feature the 12.2 megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor paired with 12 megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor for an ultra wide angle lens and two 8 megapixel Sony IMX355 sensors as well. Other features include Android 12L operating system. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt and stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available.</p>

Tipster Evan Blass had earlier hinted that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/20/google-pixel-fold-launch-this-year/">Google could release a foldable phone</a> before the end of the year. The foldable device was codenamed Passport.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-413897" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221.png?x44794" alt="Google" width="830" height="422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221.png 830w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221-300x153.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221-768x390.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221-696x354.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-221-826x420.png 826w" sizes="(max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px" /></a></p>
<p>Authoritative inside sources have now also revealed that Google is indeed at the development stage of a second foldable Pixel smartphone codenamed Jumbojack. There are still several gaps in the news, but the few details that can be pieced indicate a double-screen design that combines a smaller external screen with a bigger internal foldable screen which bears close semblance with Samsung’s foldable smartphones.</p>
<p>The larger in-panel display deactivates when the smartphone is folded and the codename, according to sources, could mean that the device will have a folding pattern like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. This information doesn’t seem to be definitive, hence may not be reliable. The size of the screen of this in-development smartphone is still not known at this time.</p>
<p>There is no indication when the launch of the new Google will take place. It is also possible that Google does not have any plans of having a commercial rollout of the Jumbojack which was referenced by Google in a version of the Android 12 called Android 12.1. It could well be an internal guide or prototype to help Google develop foldable functionality into future Android OS to enhance multitasking. This seems to be an evolving story and we are sure to keep you posted on further developments.</p>
