<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-348915 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo.jpg?x44794" alt="Nvidia" width="1268" height="664" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo.jpg 1268w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-802x420.jpg 802w" sizes="(max-width: 1268px) 100vw, 1268px" /></p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/nvidia-ceo-says-interested-exploring-chip-manufacturing-with-intel-2022-03-23/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Reuters</em> </a>report, Huang said that &#8220;They&#8217;re interested in us using their foundries. We&#8217;re very interested in exploring it.&#8221; Although, the senior official also said that the foundry discussions would take a long time since they would have to integrate their supply chains. Back in early 2021, Team Blue had stated that it will be expanding its business into chipmaking, rather than its primary chip designing business. In other words, it would be growing its plans for a foundry business.</p>
<p>Since then, the company has also announced several multi billion dollar projects to setup new manufacturing centers in the United States and even Europe. Notably, Intel&#8217;s shares also saw a rise of 2.5 percent following Huang&#8217;s comments. Recently, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told Reuters that it will be &#8220;thrilled for their interest in using our foundry capabilities.&#8221; However, he also added that there is currently &#8220;no particular timeline.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-333474 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="NVIDIA Logo Featured" width="3000" height="2000" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured.jpg 3000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/NVIDIA-Logo-Featured-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3000px) 100vw, 3000px" /></p>
<p>But Gelsinger did confirm that the company is in talks with Nvidia. As per Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon, &#8220;I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;s interested in having more options &#8230; and it doesn&#8217;t cost him anything to say that. But it doesn&#8217;t tell you anything at all about what it&#8217;s actually going to look like when they get there.&#8221; At the moment, a majority of Nvidia&#8217;s chip production is done by the world&#8217;s largest contract chipmaker, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC</a>. Interestingly, when asked about concerns for sharing company secrets with Intel, Huang said that he trusted the brand and added that &#8220;Intel has known our secrets for years.&#8221;</p>

<p>The U.S. chip plant, which is estimated to cost around $17 billion, is expected to be operational by the year 2024. The report <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/exclusive-tsmc-looks-double-down-us-chip-factories-talks-europe-falter-2021-05-14/">comes through Reuters</a> which has cited a South Korean newspaper as its source.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-281148 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Logo" width="730" height="486" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung.jpg 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-696x463.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-631x420.jpg 631w" sizes="(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px" /></p>
<p>It adds that Samsung is planning to apply an advanced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5nm">5-nanometer</a> extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography chip-making process at the plant. While not yet confirmed by the company, the new plant is expected to be in Austin, Texas.</p>
<p>Documents filed with Texas state officials previously showed Samsung is considering Austin as one of the sites for a new $17 billion chip plant. As per the company&#8217;s own estimates, it will create around 1,800 jobs.</p>
<p>U.S. President Joe Biden has proposed $50 billion to support <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chip-manufacturing">chip manufacturing</a>, which has spurred companies like Intel Corp and contract manufacturer Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co to consider major new investments.</p>
<p>Recently, it was reported that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a> could be planning to invest tens of billions of dollars for establishing cutting-edge chip factories in the United States, likely in the state of Arizona. As noted above, the moves comes after Joe Biden signed an executive order incentivizing manufacturers to shift base to the United States.</p>
<p>Samsung is the world&#8217;s largest memory chip producer and the second largest foundry firm. For the upcoming $17 billion foundry factory in the US, apart from Texas, it is also considering other locations, including Arizona and New York.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that the company already has a chip facility in Austin, Texas, but the need for additional U.S. investment emerged after its rival companies have moved ahead for capacity expansions. TSMC has announced that it will invest $100 billion over the next three years for capacity expansion.</p>
