Fujifilm patents foldable phone that resembles Samsung Galaxy Fold

Fujifilm is apparently working on its own smartphone, which features a foldable display. This arrives as a surprise considering the Japanese company is known for making digital cameras and certain other products like printers.

According to a LetsGoDigital report, the company filed a new patent with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) that was titled ‘Electronic device and non-transitory computer readable medium.’ The patent featured a number of images as well, which showcases a smartphone with a large primary display that is inward folding along with a smaller external display. In other words, it has a design that is quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series of foldable handsets.

Furthermore, the company is clearly inspired by the South Korean tech giant’s newly launched Galaxy Z Fold3 as it also features support for a stylus pen, apart from just a similar design. Graphic Designed Technizo Concept created some clear product renders based on the Fujiilm patent, which offers us a better look at what the device might look like. Notably, the bottom chin of this device is quite prominent while the bezels on the other three sides are very thin.

Unfortunately, the patent does not show the back of the device so we have no information regarding the number of camera modules on the rear or its orientation. On the other hand, the front panel might sport an under display camera, although, the focus of the patent were likely the display and design so take it with a pinch of salt for now. At the moment, it is unclear if the company is actually working on such a phone or is simply covering all bases. So stay tuned for more updates.
