The chipset is said to be built on the 14nm design and will power Samsung’s entry level phones.

Yesterday, the Exynos 7872 was seen on the Bluetooth SIG website. According to the info on the site, the Exynos 7872 received a Bluetooth 4.2 certification. Sources say the chip may be released soon following this development.

Previous reports say the Exynos 7872 will have six cores – two Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, and will have a Mali G71 for its GPU. The 7872 is rumored to debut in the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2018).

Last week, the Exynos 7885 was the chip seen on the Bluetooth SIG website. The 7885 is also a 14nm chipset but packs 8 cores. Unlike the 7882, it received a Bluetooth 5.0 certification. It is expected to power the 2018 version of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7.

The new Exynos chipset has been certified by Bluetooth SIG which suggests that the arrival of these phones could be drawing near.

According to Bluetooth SIG certification, the Exynos 7885 SoC will be carrying support for Bluetooth 5.0 that enables faster data transfer by consuming less power. It also brings ability to connect multiple devices to a phone.

Previous reports have revealed that the Exynos 7885 is a 14nm chipset that includes an octa-core processor featuring two cores of Cortex A73 and six-cores of Cortex A53. It is capable of delivering a clocking speed of up to 2.1 GHz and it also features Mali-G71 graphics.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) was also recently spotted with Snapdragon 660 chipset which indicates that the South Korean company may release the Snapdragon variant in certain markets like the U.S. and China. The Exynos variant could be aimed towards other markets.

The most striking change that Samsung is expected to introduce on the 2018 editions of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 is that these phones will be equipped with Infinity Display design. Hence, the rumor mill has been claiming that the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) would be appear like smaller version of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ phones. The Galaxy A7 (2018) may feature 6 GB of RAM whereas the A5 (2018) may come equipped with 4 GB of RAM.

The new Galaxy A (2018) phones are also expected to feature a dedicated button for launching Bixby AI. The renders these phones revealed that they may feature dual selfie cameras. The fingerprint scanner is expected to be placed below the rear camera on these phones. Both the phones are expected to come preinstalled with Android Nougat OS. Speculations are rife that the 2018 versions of Galaxy A5 and A7 will be unveiled to the world in January 2018.

The rumor mill is silent on the Galaxy A3 (2018). As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the company will be launching with a regular design or cancelling the device.

The Galaxy A series phones are usually launched almost a year after the debut of Galaxy S series flagship phones. Samsung is known for using some of the best features of the Galaxy S smartphones on its Galaxy A phones. Hence, the forthcoming A5 and A7 are likely to borrow their design and features from the Galaxy S8. An Indian publication has revealed the renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) along with the speculated features and specs that will be arriving on these phones.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018), A7 (2018) Design

The publication claims that the Galaxy A5 (2018) measures 148.8 x 70.5 x 8.4 mm and the dimensions of the larger Galaxy A7 (2018) are 159.6 x 75.6 x 8.2mm. Both the smartphones are rumored to arrive with the same design and they are speculated to feature metal and glass combination chassis. Rumors have suggested that the upcoming A5 and A7 will be IP68 certified dust and water resistant smartphones.

Rumors have been claiming that the 2018 Galaxy A5 and A7 will be the first Galaxy A smartphones to feature Bixby AI. However, fresh information suggests that these smartphones may not feature a dedicated button for it. The bottom side of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. Also, these phones may feature dual front-facing selfie snappers.

The most striking change compared to the 2017 iterations of Galaxy A5 and A7 is that their successor phones will be fitted with Infinity Displays. The inclusion of full screen design on the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will probably result in the positioning of the fingerprint scanners below the camera on the back panel.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018), A7 (2018) Specifications

The Infinity Displays on the upcoming Galaxy A5 and A7 phones will carry support for Always-on Display feature. Their screens are expected to produce Full HD+ resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The 10nm Exynos 7885 chipset may power both the smartphones. Since Samsung is known for releasing Snapdragon edition of its phones for different markets, these devices are likely to arrive in Snapdragon 660 chipset models.

The rumor mill has been speculating since couple of months that the upcoming Galaxy A7 (2018) and Galaxy A5 (2018) smartphones would be also sporting a full screen design like the Galaxy S8 duo. Fresh renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) that have surfaced on Weibo again indicate that it would be supporting an Infinity Display design. Hence, it appears like mini version of Galaxy S8.

Samsung is known for adding the some of the best features of Galaxy S series phones on Galaxy A phones. Rumors have revealed that Infinity Display and Bixby AI button are some of the features of the Galaxy S8 that will be arriving on Galaxy A (2018) smartphones. The renders that actually show the cases of the Galaxy A5 (2018) reveals that it has a model number of SM-A530F.

The above renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) not only reveals the speculated 18.5:9 Infinity Display, but also its left edge seems to feature a dedicated button for launching Bixby assistant. The display of the Galaxy A5 (2018) is likely to carry support for Always-on Display.

The rear side of the case for Galaxy A5 (2018) features a large cutout that may house a camera and a fingerprint sensor below it. Some of the key specs of the Galaxy A5 (2018) have already appeared.

In the past, Samsung has released Snapdragon and Exynos models of Galaxy A phones. A recent report has suggested that the Galaxy A5 (2018) may arrive in Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7885 chipset models. both the models are expected to include 4 GB of RAM. The SD 660 variant may be aimed towards China whereas the Exynos 7885 model may be released in international markets. Rumors have also suggested that the Galaxy A (2018) phones may carry an expensive price tag.

The rumor mill has revealed information on the Galaxy A7 (2018). It is also likely to sport the same design. However, there are no details available on Galaxy A3 (2017). The 2016 and 2017 Galaxy A3 phones have smaller screen of 4.7 inches. Hence, the Galaxy A3 (2018) may come with a regular screen, and not an Infinity Display. There is a possibility that the South Korean company may not release Galaxy A3 (2018).

However, the predecessor models from 2016 and 2015 were made available in Snapdragon and Exynos chipset variants. It seems that the South Korean company may launch the Galaxy A5 (2018) in two chipset variants as its Snapdragon and Exynos models have been allegedly spotted on Geekbench.

The model number of Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is SM-A520F. Hence, the SM-A530F model that appeared on Geekbench in the previous month was speculated as the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018). The Geekbench listing had revealed that the smartphone would be powered by Exynos 7885 SoC. It had scored 1541 and 4351 respectively on single-core and multi-core tests on the benchmarking site.

A Samsung phone with model number SM-A5300 had also appeared on Geekbench in the previous month. Since it is fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset, it is speculated that it could be another SoC variant of the Galaxy A5 (2018). Both the CPU variants feature 4 GB of RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

On single-core and multi-core tests, the SD 660 variant has respectively scored 1593 and 5834. This shows that the Snapdragon model of Galaxy A5 (2018) could be more powerful than its Exynos 7885 model. The Snapdragon model could be heading to China and the Exynos variant may hit the international markets. There is a possibility that the Galaxy A7 (2018) may also arrive in Snapdragon and Exynos models.

The 2017 editions of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 feature identical design. A recent report has revealed that the Galaxy A (2018) phones would be equipped with a full-screen design like the Galaxy S8. Hence, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) are expected to feature Infinity Display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. These phones are also expected to feature glass back, rear-facing fingerprint reader and dedicated button for Bixby.

Samsung is known for bringing the premium features of Galaxy S series smartphones on its Galaxy A series phones. Hence, it is speculated that features like Infinity Display and Bixby AI that were introduced on Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be also made available on forthcoming Galaxy A smartphones.

In January this year, the South Korean company had unveiled the 2017 versions of Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 smartphones. These phones carry similar specs and are fitted with screens of different sizes. However, all the three phones have the same design. Hence, the upcoming Galaxy A (2018) phones are speculated to feature the same Infinity Display design.

It appears that the screens of Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A8 (2017) will support an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and deliver a resolution of 2,220 x 1,080 pixels. What about the Galaxy A3 (2018)? The original A3 came with a 4.5-inch display and its 2016 and 2017 models have 4.7-inch screens. Hence, it seems unlikely that the A3 will feature an Infinity Display screen. Samsung may either release the A3 (2018) with a regular screen or simply discontinue it and only launch A5 and A7 phones.+

An industry insider from China has revealed the general design of the 2018 Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 phones.

The 2017 edition of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 feature the same metal unibody design. However, these smartphones come in different sizes and varied specifications. The upcoming Galaxy A (2018) phones are also expected to sport the same design.

The above image reveals that the Galaxy A (2018) smartphones will be arriving with a single rear camera with fingerprint reader will be placed right under it. The fingerprint scanner appears to be small which suggests that it could be a repurposed Home button.

Like the predecessor phones, the Galaxy A (2018) handsets are expected to arrive with metal unibody chassis flanked with rounded corners and curved edges. Some rumors hint that Samsung may use curved glass panel on the backside of the Galaxy A (2018) phones.

The above image resembles with the following renders of the cases of Galaxy A5 and A7. These images suggest that the rumored Bixby button is placed on the left side of the A5 and A7.

From the past year, the Galaxy A series smartphones have been adopting some of the best features from Galaxy S flagship phones. The 2017 Galaxy A smartphones came with borrow Galaxy S7’s features like Always on Display and water-resistant chassis. It seems that the upcoming Galaxy A phones will adopt the Infinity Display design from the Galaxy S8 duo. In the previous month, the same leakster had revealed the design of the front and rear sides of the 2018 Galaxy A phones.

The alleged Galaxy A7 (2018) was recently spotted on GFXBench. It revealed that the smartphone would be featuring a 5.7-inch FHD display, 4 GB of RAM, Exynos 7885 or 9610 chipset, 16-megapixel rear camera and 16-megapixel front-facing camera. On the other side, the appearance of the alleged Galaxy A5 (2018) on Geekbench has revealed that it is driven by Exynos 7885 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Both the smartphones are expected to arrive with Android Nougat OS preinstalled. As of this writing, there is no information available on the leaked specs of the 2018 Galaxy A3 smartphone.

In July, the rumor mill had revealed that Samsung is developing new chipsets like Exynos 7885 (14nm) and Exynos 9610 (10nm). Speculations are rife that these new chipsets will be unveiled before the end of the year.

The leaked specifications of both the chipsets have revealed that the Exynos 9610 is more powerful and is capable of delivering a performance that is similar to Exynos 8895 that powers flagship phones like Galaxy S8 duo and Galaxy Note 8. The new mid-range chipsets from Samsung are expected to deliver a performance that is similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Previous reports have revealed that the Exynos 9610 is a 64-bit octa-core chipset that features four cores of ARM Cortex A73 working at 2.4 GHz and another four cores of the power-efficient Cortex A53 whose processing speed is not available. The chipset includes Mali-G71 MP20 graphics and a fully integrated LTE modem. Even though fresh reports claim that it is a 10nm chipset, earlier reports had stated that it could be a 14nm chipset.

The Exynos 7885 is said to be weaker chipset compared to Exynos 9610. It is rumored to arrive with two cores of ARM Cortex A73 working at 2.1 GHz that is coupled four cores of Cortex A53. It also features Mali-G71 GPU and an integrated LTE modem.

The same industry insider had also claimed around three years ago that all the Galaxy A (2018) smartphones would be equipped with dual rear cameras. The leaked specs of the Galaxy A7 (2018) have already appeared.

The handset is pegged to come with 5.7-inch FHD display and it seems to be powered by Exynos 7885 and 3 GB of RAM. The front and rear sides of the smartphone respectively feature 16-megapixel snappers. The native storage of the phone is 32 GB and it is loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. A report from the previous month claims that the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) would be featuring Samsung’s Infinity Display. More information on the upcoming 2018 Galaxy A phones are expected to appear in the coming weeks.
