Some Galaxy A34 owners are reporting an unusual streaming bug following a recent security update, with high-definition video playback breaking when USB-C audio accessories are connected.

The issue appears to affect users mainly in parts of Latin America, including Brazil. According to user reports, video quality drops sharply when streaming content through apps like Netflix while using USB-C headphones or adapters. Without anything plugged into the USB-C port, playback works as expected.

Several affected users say the problem only occurs when audio is routed through the wired connection. Once headphones are connected, video becomes heavily compressed or pixelated, even when the internet connection is stable. Switching to Bluetooth headphones reportedly avoids the issue.

The bug may be linked to Widevine DRM

Early investigation suggests the bug may be linked to Widevine DRM, which controls whether a device can stream content in HD or Full HD. When the system fails to verify Widevine L1 support, playback falls back to Widevine L3, limiting streams to standard definition. In this case, the verification process appears to fail when USB-C audio is in use.

The Galaxy A34 is powered by a MediaTek chipset, and similar Widevine-related issues have been documented in the past on other MediaTek-based devices. A GitHub report referencing a comparable bug points to a possible certification or handshake problem introduced by a recent software update.

For now, there is no permanent fix. Users are either avoiding wired headphones or accepting lower-quality video playback. The issue will likely require a software update to restore proper Widevine L1 functionality. Until then, affected users are encouraged to report the bug through Samsung Members to help push the issue higher on Samsung’s priority list.

The Galaxy A34 remains a popular mid-range phone, but this bug is a reminder that even routine security updates can sometimes bring unintended side effects.

Motorola Moto G64 5G was released as a budget 5G smartphone in April. It’s boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 7025 chip and packs a substantial 6,000 mAh battery. The base variant with 8GB RAM is currently available for Rs. 15,384, while the 12GB RAM version costs Rs. 16,499.

The Moto G64 5G is a decent 5G smartphone. However, there are alternatives from other brands that offer more value for a similar price. So, if you’re looking to buy the Moto G64 5G, don’t forget to check out these alternatives to make an informed decision.

Let’s quickly go through the Moto G64 5G spec sheet first:

Moto G64 5G

Body

161.56 x 73.82 x 8.89mm
192g

Display

6.5″ 120Hz IPS LCD
1080 x 2400 (FullHD+) resolution

Chip

MediaTek Dimensity 7025 (6nm)
IMG BXM-8-256 GPU

Rear Camera

50MP (Primary) – OIS, f/1.8, 1/1.953″
8MP (Ultrawide)- f/2.2, 118° FOV
Video: 1080p @ 30fps

Front Camera

16MP – f/2.4
Video: 1080p @ 30fps

RAM/Storage

8GB/12GB RAM
128GB/256GB storage

OS

Android 14
Upgradable to Android 15

Battery

6,000mAh battery
30W charging (wired)

1. Poco F4 5G

Poco F4 5G

Display

6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED
1080 x 2400 (FHD+) resolution
HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1300 nits (peak)
Corning Gorilla Glass 5

Rear Camera

64MP (Main) – OIS, f/1.79, 1/2.0″
8MP (Ultrawide) – f/2.2, 1/4.0″, 119˚ FOV
2MP (Macro) – f/2.4
Video: 4K @ 30/60fps, 1080p @ 30/60fps

Front Camera

20MP – f/2.45
Video: 1080p @ 30fps

Chip

Snapdragon 870 (7nm)
Adreno 650 GPU

RAM/Storage

6GB/8GB LPDDR5 RAM
128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage

Battery

4,500 mAh battery
67W charging (wired)

Software

Android 12

Connectivity

5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB-C 2.0

Others

Side fingerprint scanner

The Poco F4 5G is probably the best alternative to Moto G64 5G.

It’s powered by the Snapdragon 870 chipset, offering enhanced performance and superior gaming performance, compared to the Dimensity 7025 chip inside the Moto G64.

The Poco phone has a bigger display, and that, too, is an AMOLED panel rather than an LCD panel as on the Moto G64. Moreover, the Poco F4 is protected using Corning Gorilla Glass 5, but the Moto phone lacks such protection.

Both smartphones support a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the Poco F4 also has HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Clearly, the Poco phone has a better display than the Moto G64.

The Moto G64 5G features a dual camera setup on the back. It includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 118-degree field of view. There’s also a 16MP sensor for selfies and video calls.

The Poco F4, on the other hand, features a triple camera setup that comprises a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera with 119-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro camera. It has a 20MP shooter on the front.

The Poco F4 has better camera specs and can record up to 4K videos, whereas the Moto G64 is limited to 1080p.

One area where the Moto G64 really stands out is its massive 6,000 mAh battery, compared to 4,500 mAh on the Poco F4. However, the Poco phone supports much faster charging, at 67W (vs. 30W on the Moto G64).

The CMF Phone 1, another solid 5G phone, stands out with its unique user-replaceable back cover feature, sparking curiosity and interest among potential buyers.

The CMF Phone 1 has a larger screen, that too an AMOLED screen (vs. an LCD screen on the Moto G64) with a peak brightness of 2000 nits. It is powered by a more powerful Dimensity 7300 (4nm) chipset.

The CMF Phone 1 also has a 50MP primary camera, but there’s no OIS, and the secondary 2MP sensor works as a depth shooter. Both smartphones have a 16MP selfie camera.

Due to the lack of optical image stabilization (OIS), the CMF Phone 1 won’t record stable videos as good as the Moto G64. However, the former supports 4K video recording, while the latter doesn’t.

Notably, the CMF Phone 1 supports Wi-Fi 6 but lacks NFC. But the Moto G64 supports NFC but lacks Wi-Fi 6 support.

The CMF Phone 1 has a lower battery capacity but supports a higher fast charging. Both smartphones also support reverse wired charging.

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G (review) is better than the Moto G64 5G in many ways. First, it has an AMOLED panel with HDR10+ and support for 1 billion colours.

The OnePlus phone is powered by a Snapdragon 782G. It’s a high-performance chip with over 30% more AnTuTu score than the MediaTek Dimensity 7025.

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 will get two OS updates, while the Moto G64 will only get one. Since the Nord CE 3 was launched with Android 13, both will receive Android 15 as their final OS update.

Both smartphones have a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens on the back. However, the Nord CE 3 also has a 2MP macro camera. Unlike the Moto phone, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 is capable of shooting 4K videos. For selfies, both devices have a 16MP punch-hole-style selfie shooter.

Like the other phones on the list, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 has a lower battery capacity than the Moto G64. However, the phone supports 80W fast charging, while the Moto G64 only supports 30W charging.

Except for the battery capacity, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 is better than the Moto G64 in almost every aspect.

Samsung is officially offering a fresh deal for one of its Galaxy A series smartphones. The Galaxy A34 has become even more affordable in the Indian market thanks to the new price slash. The brand previously offered a cashback deal in the region, so now, let’s have a look at the latest price drop.

Samsung Galaxy A34 Price Drops in India

The South Korean tech giant’s new Galaxy A34 was first announced in India for a starting price tag of 30,999 INR (roughly 375 US Dollars). However, Samsung’s cashback incentive brought the price down to just 24,499 INR (roughly 294 US Dollars) back in February 2024. At the moment, the brand is offering a 3,500 INR price cut. This means that the Galaxy A34 has an effective price tag of 24,499 INR again.

Samsung Galaxy A34 5G grabs One UI 6.0 based on Android 14

This is for the 8GB + 128G storage configuration. To recall, the mid-range smartphone arrived in multiple color options, namely Black, Light Violet, Light Green, and Silver. Talking about its specs, the Galaxy A34 sports a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, it is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC. The rear packs a triple camera setup that consists of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 5-megapixel macro shooter.

Meanwhile, the front packs a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. This device is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 25W wired fast charging. Other notable features include IP67 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, and four years of Android OS upgrades.

Now, the Galaxy A34 5G has started to receive the latest One UI via an OTA software update.

Galaxy A34 5G grabs One UI 6.0 based on Android 14

The Galaxy A34 5G is currently receiving the stable One UI 6.0 update based on Android 14, with firmware version A346BXXU4BWK2 / A346BOXM4BWK3 / A346BXXU4BWK2.

Currently, the OTA update is only released to One UI 6.0 beta testers in the UK. However, we anticipate adding more individuals and countries to the update rollover in the coming weeks.

Waveform animations have also been included, and all new emojis have been added to the app. Additionally, Samsung has enhanced all of the default applications, with the exception of the camera app, which now has more user-friendly controls.

There are more font, size, and positioning choices available for the lock screen clock widget.

Samsung is currently preparing for the official launch of the upcoming Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 5G smartphones. The Indian division had recently confirmed that Samsung Galaxy A54 5G will launch in the country on March 16th, 2023. There are multiple rumours and renders of the devices are already leaked and are making the rounds of the internet. The expected price of the device is also tipped to be somewhere around $430 which is quite on the higher side.

The latest piece of information, however, states that even though the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 will be priced higher than average, they will be introduced in specific niche regions with much lower price tags. The pricing of these devices for the Indonesian market is revealed in the report.

The former is rumoured to cost Rp 4,999,000 ($323) for the 8GB+128GB variant, while the latter may cost Rp 5,999,000 ($388) for the same variant. Furthermore, the 256GB variants of these handsets are claimed to cost Rp 5,999,000 ($388) and Rp 6,499,000 ($420), respectively.

The pricing of the same devices in Europe is slightly higher. The Galaxy A34’s base variant is expected to cost around $430, while the Galaxy A54 will cost around $520. There is a clear difference in price between the European and Indonesian versions. Also, the pricing of Indian variants is claimed to be 15% higher.

That being said, this report tells us that the costs of the next Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 will be highly influenced by the region. Nonetheless, smartphones should not be expected to be priced lower, as the majority of the market will witness a price increase. What are your thoughts on the matter? Please let us know by leaving a remark in your own words down below. Thank you for sticking with me until the end.

The Mobile World Congress 2023 ended a few days back. But brands are still expected to release new smartphones throughout March.

These handsets range from budget to flagship segments. Around 11 brands are said to debut new phones in the coming days.

A few of these devices have already gone official. However, they will be making their way to more markets this month.

But most of these handsets are brand-new. Some of them are even the most-anticipated releases, such as the Oppo Find X6 series and Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at these phones one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones in March 2023

Oppo Find N2 Flip

The Oppo Find N2 Flip was initially announced in China in December. It made its global debut in February. Now, the device is scheduled to release in India.

Oppo Find N2 Flip

Oppo has confirmed that it will reveal the pricing and availability of its first clamshell foldable smartphone for India on March 13. It is not known if the product will be available for pre-order on the same day.

Some of the features of this phone include a 6.8-inch 120Hz LTPO foldable display, a 3.26-inch cover display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 4,300mAh battery, and 44W fast wired charging support.

Poco X5

The Poco X5 was announced alongside the Poco X5 Pro for Europe in February. A month later, the device is now set to launch in India on March 14.

Poco X5

The vanilla X5 is the same as the Redmi Note 12 but features a Snapdragon 695 SoC instead of a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip. Thus, it arrives with a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 48MP main camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34

One of the devices expected to launch on January 18th is the Galaxy A34 5G which already has its design leaked.

The European variant of the Galaxy A34 5G has now appeared on Geekbench bearing the model number SM-A346B. This is not the first time the Galaxy A34 5G has been listed on Geekbench as the Korean version also appeared on it last month with the model number SM-A346N.

The European version is powered by an octa-core processor that has model number MT6877. It features two 2 performance cores clocked at 2.6GHz and 6 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. This indicates that the device features the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor, which has recently been a go-to chipset for many OEMs for their mid-range smartphones (like the Realme 10 Pro+ and Redmi Note 12 Pro series).

The Geekbench database listed the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G as having 6GB of RAM. However, we may anticipate that it will also be offered in various memory setups. As for software, the device rocks the latest Android 13-based OS.

The Geekbench database listed the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G as having 6GB of RAM. However, we may anticipate that it will also be offered in various memory setups. As for software, the device rocks the latest Android 13-based OS. The Geekbench 5 benchmark test gave the Galaxy A34 5G a single-core score of 786. It received 2294 points on the test’s multi-core round.

Other details regarding the Galaxy A34 state that it will have a triple camera unit with an LED flash on the rear. The display could be a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel offering a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

A 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera could be included in the device. A 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging is probably included. It might be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner like the preceding model.

Earlier today, Samsung revealed that it will be holding its first ‘Unpacked’ event of 2023 on February 1. Though the company hasn’t disclosed it officially, we all know that the conference is meant for the Galaxy S23 series.

This event is expected to be followed by yet another ‘Unpacked’ conference for the next-gen Galaxy A series. The firm is anticipated to debut Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34. Ahead of that, these phones have now leaked in official renders.

We have been hearing about the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 for a long time. Hence, we are aware of the key highlights of the handsets along with their design.

As we are nearing the official announcement, more leaks have started pouring. The latest one by Evan Blass shows us the official front renders of these phones.

The pictures confirm that the Galaxy A54 will arrive with a centered punch-hole, while the Galaxy A35 will come with a dewdrop notch. Interestingly, the former may have thicker bezels despite being costlier than the latter.

Finally, the renders also confirm the new ‘lime’ color. The devices are said to be available in black, white, and purple colors as well.

According to previous reports on these handsets, they will sport a triple camera system as Samsung has decided to give up on depth sensors. Further, they will feature an identical rear design though their fronts are different.

Last but not least, the Galaxy A34 is expected to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, whereas the Galaxy A54 may house an unreleased Exynos 1380 SoC.

The publication has also shared some of the expected specifications of the Galaxy A34. The report states that it has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

The Galaxy A33 was powered by the Exynos 1280 chipset, which supports 5G connectivity. Interestingly, its South Korean edition is said to be equipped with the Dimensity 1080 chipset. The same chip is likely to power the Galaxy A34. The SoC is said to be coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage.

The device may feature a 48-megapixel triple camera unit and a 13-megapixel camera on the front for selfies. It is likely to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Like the predecessor model, it may feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Readers are advised to digest the specs leak with a pinch of salt as it is only based on expectations.

Reports have claimed that the Galaxy A54 5G, which is likely to feature a new Exynos 1380 chipset, may also debut alongside the Galaxy A34. The Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A24 are also expected to be released in early 2023.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 and A34 smartphones are currently under development by Samsung. We might soon learn more about the devices’ official launch details. Anyway, the devices are still being developed, and no significant details or specifications have been publicly disclosed. However, according to a recent piece of information floating around online, both of the next smartphones will feature a slightly different aspect ratio than their predecessors.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 in the spring of 2022. Both devices resembled the Galaxy A52 in terms of aesthetics. The fact that the A52, A53, and A33 all share the same aspect ratio—20: 9—is therefore not surprising. Samsung is particularly focused on the aesthetics of the Galaxy A54 and A34 for the A series in 2024. The aspect ratio also changes depending on where.

The Galaxy A54 and A34 both get a somewhat wider display than the A53 and A33, according to the well-known website GalaxyClub. The latest gadgets will eventually sport a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. That compares favourably to the Galaxy S22 and, eventually, the Galaxy S23. The information is available from both phones’ entries in the HTML5Test browser test.

This change is consistent with their long-held vision of Samsung phones in 2023. They all receive a slightly different version of the same design: without a camera island, but with separate rear-facing lenses. You could also argue that the A series’ debut in 2023—or at the very least, the A54 and A34—will bring it even closer to the S series. However, the difference in the screen aspect ratio is not going to have any major difference, the normal users may not even spot the difference in the first place.

A report by The Elec says that Samsung will drop depth cameras from three of its Galaxy A series phones in 2023. These devices are nothing but Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54.

The aforementioned smartphones are tipped to come with a triple camera setup consisting of a wide-angle camera, ultra-wide camera, and a macro camera. All of them are said to come with a 50MP main sensor and a 5MP macro snapper.

Interestingly, the Galaxy A54 is said to carry a 5MP ultrawide unit instead of an 8MP ultra-wide as Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A24. This is likely a typo since we don’t expect the company to use an inferior camera sensor on a more expensive model.

The report says that the South Korean electronics giant is collectively readying over 60 million units of these smartphones for next year. The Galaxy A34 is expected to release in March, followed by Galaxy A54 in April.

Market research firm TrendForce says that consumers have little use for depth-sensing cameras. Hence, Samsung is planning to drop depth cameras as it also helps in reducing costs.

It is said that the demand for a quad-camera system is forecasted to drop as companies will do away with the depth cameras on their handsets. Most phones are expected to carry a triple camera setup in the future.
