According to GalaxyClub (via SamMobile), Samsung has ended software support for the following devices.

Galaxy A10

Galaxy A20

Galaxy A40

Galaxy Tab S5e

Galaxy Tab A 10.1

Galaxy Tab A with S Pen

These products will work just fine without software support

All of these handsets and tablets were released in or before April 2019. The Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A40 are on March 2023 security patch. Whereas, the Galaxy A20 is stuck with the December 2023 update.

These products will continue to work despite their software support has been suspended. They currently boot Android 11, which can run almost all the apps available on the Google Play Store.

Perhaps, the only issues you could face on these devices are performance and battery-related. Though the latter can be fixed with a replacement, the former cannot.

Further, none of them have 5G connectivity. So that could be one more reason to upgrade to a newer phone if you have coverage for the latest-gen mobile networks in your city.

Having said that, a lot more Samsung Galaxy-branded handsets and tablet will see their software support end in the coming months.

The 2019 mid-range Galaxy A80 is getting an update with firmware version A805FXXU5DUC7 in parts of Europe. If you recall, this device, which launched with Android 9 Pie has already got one Android version upgrade and this should be the second upgrade, which is probably its last one.

However, it should get the security updates for at least another year considering it’s on the official list released by Samsung. Anyway, the latest update brings Android 11 features, One UI 3.1 features, and March 2021 security patch.

Some of One UI 3.1 features include revamped UI, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, improved stock apps, & more. Users in other countries like India should get it soon now that it’s has started rolling out in Europe.

Similar to the Galaxy A80, the Galaxy A40 is also getting the Android 11(One UI 3.1) update with March 2021 security patch. It is getting the firmware version A405FNXXU3CUC2 and is rolling out to users of Vodafone Germany in Europe. That being said, expect the other regions to pick it up in the coming days.

Galaxy A40 launched with Android 9 Pie and hence, this could be the last update for it too. If you are living in Europe and are having either of these devices, you can visit Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The Galaxy A50, A30, and A10 have already been released. The Galaxy A20 was also recently announced in India. The Galaxy A40 is expected to join the fray in no distant time. Before then, the press renders of the A40 has leaked online, giving us a quick look at the design captured from all angles.

The renders show the Galaxy A40 will have a design that is similar to those of its siblings. At the front, there will be a u-shaped notch on the full-screen display which houses the front camera. At the back, the device packs a fingerprint sensor at the middle. The device equally sports a dual camera setup is at the top left corner arranged vertically with an LED flash at the bottom.

Fresh information shared by an Indian publication reveals that the A10, A20 and A30 smartphones will launch within the next month in India. The Galaxy A50 is expected to debut separately in the country within the first half of the year.

Samsung seems to be gearing up to start the year 2019 with a bang. In India, the South Korean company has already released mid-range Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones. On Feb. 20, the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will be unveiled internationally. Alongside the S10 series, the company may announce its first Galaxy Flex/Fold foldable phone. The Galaxy S10 series may hit the Indian market by the second quarter of 2019. Apart from these phones, the A10, A20 and A30 smartphones are tipped to debut in the first quarter of 2019. The Galaxy A50 is expected to get a global release first before landing in India in the second quarter of this year.

Samsung Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A30 Rumors

The publication claims that Samsung will be releasing new A-series Galaxy phones soon in India to rival with budget-friendly phones from Chinese Android OEMs. The Galaxy A10 is expected to debut with a starting price of Rs. 8,490 (~$118). Unlike the M10 and M20 that have LCD panels, the upcoming Galaxy A phones may feature S-AMOLED displays.

The Galaxy M10 and M20 phones respectively feature 3,400mAh and 5,000mAh batteries. It is speculated the A10, A20 and A30 will have smaller batteries than the Galaxy M-series phones.

There is no word on the release of the Galaxy A40 smartphone. The Geekbench listing of the A10, A20, A30 and A40 have revealed that they are all powered by Exynos 7885 chipset and Android 9 Pie OS. The appearance of these phones on the benchmarking platform has revealed that the A10 has 2 GB of RAM, A20 has 3 GB of RAM, A30 has 4 GB of RAM and A40 has 4 GB of RAM. A recent report had revealed that the Galaxy A30 may come in 32 GB and 64 GB storage models and black, white, silver, blue and pink color variants.

The three phones are the Galaxy A90, Galaxy A70, and the Galaxy A50. Now a fourth model in the series, the Galaxy A40, has shown up on Geekbench along with some specs.

The device was benchmarked earlier today as the “samsung SM-A405FN”. It runs Android 9, has 4GB of RAM and is powered by the Exynos 7885 processor. This is the same chipset that will power the Galaxy M20 scheduled to launch on January 28.

Since the A-series is technically higher than the Galaxy M-series, the Galaxy A40 should come with some features that will make it a better buy than the Galaxy M20. So probably higher quality materials, a bigger battery and better cameras are the features we expect it to have.

The Galaxy A40 scored 1316 points in the single-core test and 3964 points in the multi-core test. Other than this Geekbench result, we do not know anything about the phone. However, we expect more details should surface in the coming weeks.
