The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is the first smartphone from the South Korean giant to feature triple camera sensors at the back. While the company refers to the phone as Galaxy A7, we expect the retail package to have Galaxy A7 (2018) branding.

The phone hints at Samsung’s new strategy for the mid-range smartphones, in which the company is now introducing features that are even not available on its flagship phones. It seems like a good way to stand out in the crowded market.

The new Samsung Galaxy A7 features a 6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with 2220 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by an unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

It will be available in three memory configurations — 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage, and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. All three models come with a microSD Slot, enabling users to further expand the storage capacity up to 512GB.

The major attraction for the phone is its triple camera setup on the back, placed in the top-left corner. It consists of a 24MP primary lens with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide f/2.4 lens for wide-angle photos, and a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor.

On the front side, there’s a 24MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an adjustable LED flash. The camera comes with Samsung’s intelligent Scene Optimizer that categorizes the subject and adjusts the color, contrast, and brightness to optimize image quality.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE Cat.6, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), NFC is some regions, GPS/GLONASS, and a micro USB port. It also comes with Dolby Atmos for headphones and Bluetooth audio, Samsung Pay, and Bixby.

There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, similar to what we saw on the recently announced Galaxy J6+. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own Samsung Experience custom interface on top. The device drives power from a 3,300mAh battery.

Read More: Samsung to reorganize its product lineup soon; Galaxy J and On series will be affected

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) will be available in select European and Asian markets from this fall. The company also adds that the phone will also be available in additional markets in the near future. Samsung has not yet revealed the phone’s pricing information.

However, freshly leaked press renders of the Galaxy A7 (2018) that have surfaced today to confirm its design. The new renders reveal that it will be the first Samsung phone to come equipped with triple rear cameras.

[envira-gallery id=”212394″]

The Galaxy A7 (2018) can be seen in two color variants such as Black and Blue. Both the color variants feature black front. The handset bears resemblance with the Galaxy A8 since it is equipped with Infinity Display design. Hence, the display of the A7 (2018) is expected to offer an aspect ratio of 18.5:9.

The back panel of the Galaxy A7 (2018) is equipped with triple rear cameras followed by an LED flash. The exact camera configuration of the smartphone is not available yet. Here is a leaked photo of the phone that shows the handset in real-skin. The handset seems to feature a glass back.

There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear. Could it be featuring an in-display fingerprint reader? There is no confirmation on it yet. Probably, it could be equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that it could be embedded under the power button on the side of the phone like the upcoming Galaxy J6 Plus and Galaxy J5 Plus smartphones.

Rumors have it that the Galaxy A7 (2018) may come equipped with 6-inch Full HD+ resolution display, Exynos 7885 SoC, 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. There is a possibility that it may come equipped in certain markets with Snapdragon 660 chipset.

On Oct. 11, Samsung will be debuting a new camera-centric smartphone. There are mixed rumors on the phone that will be debuting on the said date. Now that the Galaxy A7 (2018) has appeared with triple rear cameras and a single front camera, it may get unveiled through the next month’s Samsung event.

It means that the Galaxy A5 (2018) or Galaxy A8 (2018) could be widely available in the Europe. The release of the 6-inch Galaxy A7 (2018) is likely to be limited to three European markets such as Germany, Poland and Russia. However, it is expected to be widely available in Asia, where smartphones with large-sized displays are popular.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) that is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch Infinity Display is expected to be more popular in Europe. The rumor mill has been silent on the existence of Galaxy A3 (2018) which indicates that the Galaxy A5 (2018) may arrive as a primary Galaxy A in the market.

We advise our readers to digest the above report with the pinch of salt. The rumors surrounding the 2018 Galaxy A smartphones may sound confusing, but it seems certain that the South Korean company is reviewing its strategy for mid-range phones.

Hence, the 2018 Galaxy A smartphones are expected to launch soon either before the end of the year or early 2018. Plenty of details of both the smartphones have already surfaced in the past months. Today, fresh renders of Galaxy A5 (2018)’s case has surfaced to showcase its design.

[envira-gallery id=”159037″]

The case renders show that the Galaxy A5 (2018) will be sporting an Infinity Display. Since it sports a full screen design, the fingerprint reader has been moved to the backside of the phone and it can be seen lying below the camera. Some rumors have claimed that it will be sporting dual selfie snappers. Since the entire front panel of the handset is not visible in the new photos, it cannot be confirmed whether it features dual front-facing cameras.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) is expected to sport the same design as the Galaxy A5 (2018). Hence, these phones are expected to arrive as smaller versions of the Galaxy S8 flagship phone. The Galaxy A7 (2018) is expected to arrive with a larger display than the Galaxy A5. Both smartphones are expected to feature a dedicated key for launching Bixby virtual assistant.

Rumors have it that the Exynos 7885 chipset will be powering the 2018 Galaxy A5 and A7 smartphones. Some markets are speculated to receive Snapdragon 660 chipset version of both phones. The A5 and A7 smartphones are speculated to respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. These phones are expected to arrive with Android 7.1.1 Nougat preinstalled.

Interestingly, a Chinese leakster had claimed in the previous week that Samsung may rebrand the upcoming Galaxy A5 and A7 smartphones as Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018). Previous reports have revealed that the SM-A530 and SM-A730 model numbers respectively belong to 2018 Galaxy A5 and A7 phones. However, the leakster has also claimed through another tweet that these model numbers may belong to Galaxy A8 (2018) and A8 Plus (2018).

Hence, it seems that Samsung may debut upcoming Galaxy A (2018) phones as mid-range versions of Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The arrival of these smartphones seems to be approaching fast as both the model numbers have been granted certification by Wi-Fi Alliance.

The Wi-Fi certification of the SM-A530F and SM-A730F have revealed that the both the smartphones will carry support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/ac and will arrive preinstalled with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This is an indication that these phones are unlikely to deliver Android Oreo out of the box experience.

Samsung is known for providing some of the best features from Galaxy S devices on Galaxy A series smartphones. However, the Galaxy A phones are launched with older versions of Android OS.

For instance, the Galaxy A (2017) smartphones such as Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 that were introduced in January this year came preloaded with Android Marshmallow. These phones were later on updated to Android Nougat.

Samsung is expected to use the same strategy on the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) phones. These phones are likely to arrive Nougat OS preinstalled and may receive Oreo update by the middle of next year.

Now, a similar thing has happened with another smartphone of the same lineup — Galaxy A7 (2018). As per the reports, Samsung Kazakhstan, the Russian-facing website of the company, has listed the smartphone carrying model number SM-A730F.

The listing doesn’t confirm anything related to the upcoming Galaxy A7 (2018) smartphone apart from its existence. There is no information about the phone’s features, specifications or pricing. The listing appears to be the placeholder pages, which will be updated once the devices will be launched.

While it does not reveal anything about specifications, previous leak surrounding the smartphone suggests that the smartphone will feature a Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be similar to the one we saw on Samsung’s 2017 flagships. Expect an edge-to-edge display with virtually no bezels.

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is expected to be powered by a brand new 14nm Exynos 7892 octa-core chipset, which will have two ARM Cortex-A73 cores and six ARM Cortex-A53 cores and will also pack 6GB of RAM.

As per the rumours, the smartphone will also come with IP68 certification, which means that the device will be dust and water resistant. Some reports also suggests that the phone will come with dual cameras at the back, and will have a USB Type C port and Bluetooth 5.0. It is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based operating system with the company’s own TouchWiz UI on top.

In comparison, the current generation Galaxy A7 smartphone has a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. It runs an Exynos 7880 octa-core chipset and packs 16-megapixel rear and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and is fueled by a 3,600mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) and the Galaxy A5 (2018) are expected to be introduced in January. However, Samsung could also announce the devices next month as the support pages have already surfaced online. We’ll just have to wait and watch.

It is also speculated to come with a IP68 certified chassis. It is expected to come preinstalled with Android Nougat OS.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) is rumored to arrive with same specs as Galaxy A5 (2018). However, the A7 (2018) is likely to feature a 5.7-inch Infinity Display. The new Exynos chipset has been certified by Bluetooth SIG which suggests that the arrival of these phones could be drawing near.

According to Bluetooth SIG certification, the Exynos 7885 SoC will be carrying support for Bluetooth 5.0 that enables faster data transfer by consuming less power. It also brings ability to connect multiple devices to a phone.

Previous reports have revealed that the Exynos 7885 is a 14nm chipset that includes an octa-core processor featuring two cores of Cortex A73 and six-cores of Cortex A53. It is capable of delivering a clocking speed of up to 2.1 GHz and it also features Mali-G71 graphics.

The Galaxy A5 (2018) was also recently spotted with Snapdragon 660 chipset which indicates that the South Korean company may release the Snapdragon variant in certain markets like the U.S. and China. The Exynos variant could be aimed towards other markets.

The most striking change that Samsung is expected to introduce on the 2018 editions of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 is that these phones will be equipped with Infinity Display design. Hence, the rumor mill has been claiming that the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) would be appear like smaller version of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ phones. The Galaxy A7 (2018) may feature 6 GB of RAM whereas the A5 (2018) may come equipped with 4 GB of RAM.

The new Galaxy A (2018) phones are also expected to feature a dedicated button for launching Bixby AI. The renders these phones revealed that they may feature dual selfie cameras. The fingerprint scanner is expected to be placed below the rear camera on these phones. Both the phones are expected to come preinstalled with Android Nougat OS. Speculations are rife that the 2018 versions of Galaxy A5 and A7 will be unveiled to the world in January 2018.

The rumor mill is silent on the Galaxy A3 (2018). As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the company will be launching with a regular design or cancelling the device.

The global market leader traditionally releases the Galaxy A series models towards the end of the year. In this case, the Galaxy A7 2018 and A5 2018 are already seen to be in the works. Not too long ago, the Galaxy A8 2018 appeared on GFXBench revealing its specs. Right now, the Galaxy A8 2018 has appeared on yet another benchmark app – Geekbench database.

The major highlight of the listing is that the upcoming Galaxy A7 with model number SM-A730F will launch with an Exynos 7885 chipset. The Exynos 7885 is yet to be announced but a previously leaked appearance details the chipset as a 14nm octa-core processor with 2 Cortex- A73 cores + 6 Cortex-A53 cores. The processor is accompanied by a Mali-G71 GPU. The Galaxy A7 2018 is also listed with a 6GB RAM which is quite a surprise inclusion on a mid-range Samsung phone. There is also an Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS on board.

As for the Geekbench score, the device posted a 1490 score on the single core test and 4172 points on the multi-core test. This score places the Exynos 7885 chip on par with Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon chipsets. The Galaxy A series phones are usually launched almost a year after the debut of Galaxy S series flagship phones. Samsung is known for using some of the best features of the Galaxy S smartphones on its Galaxy A phones. Hence, the forthcoming A5 and A7 are likely to borrow their design and features from the Galaxy S8. An Indian publication has revealed the renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) along with the speculated features and specs that will be arriving on these phones.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018), A7 (2018) Design

The publication claims that the Galaxy A5 (2018) measures 148.8 x 70.5 x 8.4 mm and the dimensions of the larger Galaxy A7 (2018) are 159.6 x 75.6 x 8.2mm. Both the smartphones are rumored to arrive with the same design and they are speculated to feature metal and glass combination chassis. Rumors have suggested that the upcoming A5 and A7 will be IP68 certified dust and water resistant smartphones.

Rumors have been claiming that the 2018 Galaxy A5 and A7 will be the first Galaxy A smartphones to feature Bixby AI. However, fresh information suggests that these smartphones may not feature a dedicated button for it. The bottom side of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. Also, these phones may feature dual front-facing selfie snappers.

The most striking change compared to the 2017 iterations of Galaxy A5 and A7 is that their successor phones will be fitted with Infinity Displays. The inclusion of full screen design on the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will probably result in the positioning of the fingerprint scanners below the camera on the back panel.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018), A7 (2018) Specifications

The Infinity Displays on the upcoming Galaxy A5 and A7 phones will carry support for Always-on Display feature. Their screens are expected to produce Full HD+ resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The 10nm Exynos 7885 chipset may power both the smartphones. Since Samsung is known for releasing Snapdragon edition of its phones for different markets, these devices are likely to arrive in Snapdragon 660 chipset models.

The rumor mill has been speculating since couple of months that the upcoming Galaxy A7 (2018) and Galaxy A5 (2018) smartphones would be also sporting a full screen design like the Galaxy S8 duo. Fresh renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) that have surfaced on Weibo again indicate that it would be supporting an Infinity Display design. Hence, it appears like mini version of Galaxy S8.

Samsung is known for adding the some of the best features of Galaxy S series phones on Galaxy A phones. Rumors have revealed that Infinity Display and Bixby AI button are some of the features of the Galaxy S8 that will be arriving on Galaxy A (2018) smartphones. The renders that actually show the cases of the Galaxy A5 (2018) reveals that it has a model number of SM-A530F.

The rear side of the case for Galaxy A5 (2018) features a large cutout that may house a camera and a fingerprint sensor below it. Some of the key specs of the Galaxy A5 (2018) have already appeared.

In the past, Samsung has released Snapdragon and Exynos models of Galaxy A phones. A recent report has suggested that the Galaxy A5 (2018) may arrive in Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7885 chipset models. both the models are expected to include 4 GB of RAM. The SD 660 variant may be aimed towards China whereas the Exynos 7885 model may be released in international markets. Rumors have also suggested that the Galaxy A (2018) phones may carry an expensive price tag.

The rumor mill has revealed information on the Galaxy A7 (2018). It is also likely to sport the same design. However, there are no details available on Galaxy A3 (2017). The 2016 and 2017 Galaxy A3 phones have smaller screen of 4.7 inches. Hence, the Galaxy A3 (2018) may come with a regular screen, and not an Infinity Display. There is a possibility that the South Korean company may not release Galaxy A3 (2018).

However, the predecessor models from 2016 and 2015 were made available in Snapdragon and Exynos chipset variants. It seems that the South Korean company may launch the Galaxy A5 (2018) in two chipset variants as its Snapdragon and Exynos models have been allegedly spotted on Geekbench.

The model number of Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is SM-A520F. Hence, the SM-A530F model that appeared on Geekbench in the previous month was speculated as the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2018). The Geekbench listing had revealed that the smartphone would be powered by Exynos 7885 SoC. It had scored 1541 and 4351 respectively on single-core and multi-core tests on the benchmarking site.

A Samsung phone with model number SM-A5300 had also appeared on Geekbench in the previous month. Since it is fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset, it is speculated that it could be another SoC variant of the Galaxy A5 (2018). Both the CPU variants feature 4 GB of RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

On single-core and multi-core tests, the SD 660 variant has respectively scored 1593 and 5834. This shows that the Snapdragon model of Galaxy A5 (2018) could be more powerful than its Exynos 7885 model. The Snapdragon model could be heading to China and the Exynos variant may hit the international markets. There is a possibility that the Galaxy A7 (2018) may also arrive in Snapdragon and Exynos models.

The 2017 editions of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 feature identical design. A recent report has revealed that the Galaxy A (2018) phones would be equipped with a full-screen design like the Galaxy S8. Hence, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) are expected to feature Infinity Display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Fresh renders of the Galaxy A (2018) show the premium design that may be coming on the rumored Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) phones.

Samsung is known for bringing the premium features of Galaxy S series smartphones on its Galaxy A series phones. Hence, it is speculated that features like Infinity Display and Bixby AI that were introduced on Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be also made available on forthcoming Galaxy A smartphones.

In January this year, the South Korean company had unveiled the 2017 versions of Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 smartphones. These phones carry similar specs and are fitted with screens of different sizes. However, all the three phones have the same design. Hence, the upcoming Galaxy A (2018) phones are speculated to feature the same Infinity Display design.

It appears that the screens of Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A8 (2017) will support an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and deliver a resolution of 2,220 x 1,080 pixels. What about the Galaxy A3 (2018)? The original A3 came with a 4.5-inch display and its 2016 and 2017 models have 4.7-inch screens. Hence, it seems unlikely that the A3 will feature an Infinity Display screen. Samsung may either release the A3 (2018) with a regular screen or simply discontinue it and only launch A5 and A7 phones.+

An industry insider from China has revealed the general design of the 2018 Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 phones.

The 2017 edition of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 feature the same metal unibody design. However, these smartphones come in different sizes and varied specifications. The upcoming Galaxy A (2018) phones are also expected to sport the same design.

The above image reveals that the Galaxy A (2018) smartphones will be arriving with a single rear camera with fingerprint reader will be placed right under it. The fingerprint scanner appears to be small which suggests that it could be a repurposed Home button.

Like the predecessor phones, the Galaxy A (2018) handsets are expected to arrive with metal unibody chassis flanked with rounded corners and curved edges. Some rumors hint that Samsung may use curved glass panel on the backside of the Galaxy A (2018) phones.

The above image resembles with the following renders of the cases of Galaxy A5 and A7. These images suggest that the rumored Bixby button is placed on the left side of the A5 and A7.

From the past year, the Galaxy A series smartphones have been adopting some of the best features from Galaxy S flagship phones. The 2017 Galaxy A smartphones came with borrow Galaxy S7’s features like Always on Display and water-resistant chassis. It seems that the upcoming Galaxy A phones will adopt the Infinity Display design from the Galaxy S8 duo. In the previous month, the same leakster had revealed the design of the front and rear sides of the 2018 Galaxy A phones.

It revealed that the smartphone would be featuring a 5.7-inch FHD display, 4 GB of RAM, Exynos 7885 or 9610 chipset, 16-megapixel rear camera and 16-megapixel front-facing camera. On the other side, the appearance of the alleged Galaxy A5 (2018) on Geekbench has revealed that it is driven by Exynos 7885 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Both the smartphones are expected to arrive with Android Nougat OS preinstalled. As of this writing, there is no information available on the leaked specs of the 2018 Galaxy A3 smartphone.

In July, the rumor mill had revealed that Samsung is developing new chipsets like Exynos 7885 (14nm) and Exynos 9610 (10nm). Speculations are rife that these new chipsets will be unveiled before the end of the year.

The leaked specifications of both the chipsets have revealed that the Exynos 9610 is more powerful and is capable of delivering a performance that is similar to Exynos 8895 that powers flagship phones like Galaxy S8 duo and Galaxy Note 8. The new mid-range chipsets from Samsung are expected to deliver a performance that is similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Previous reports have revealed that the Exynos 9610 is a 64-bit octa-core chipset that features four cores of ARM Cortex A73 working at 2.4 GHz and another four cores of the power-efficient Cortex A53 whose processing speed is not available. The chipset includes Mali-G71 MP20 graphics and a fully integrated LTE modem. Even though fresh reports claim that it is a 10nm chipset, earlier reports had stated that it could be a 14nm chipset.

The handset is pegged to come with 5.7-inch FHD display and it seems to be powered by Exynos 7885 and 3 GB of RAM. The front and rear sides of the smartphone respectively feature 16-megapixel snappers. The native storage of the phone is 32 GB and it is loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. A report from the previous month claims that the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) would be featuring Samsung’s Infinity Display. More information on the upcoming 2018 Galaxy A phones are expected to appear in the coming weeks.

The successor smartphones for the Galaxy A (2017) series are likely to debut at the end of this year or by the start of 2018. It seems that Samsung has already started working Galaxy A (2018) smartphones as an alleged Galaxy A7 (2018) has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking site.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) has a model number of SM-A720x. A new Samsung smartphone with model number SM-A730x has appeared on GFXBench. This model number suggests that it could be the successor of Galaxy A7 (2017).

The GFXBench listing of SM-A730x suggests that it is powered by a 2.21 GHz octa-core processor and Mali-G71 graphics. The chipset is supported by 4 GB of RAM. The exact name of the SoC that will power the alleged Galaxy A7 (2018) is not known.

Even the size of the display not mentioned clearly, but the listing states that it supports full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The Galaxy A7 (2017) features a 5.7-inch FHD display and is powered by Exynos 7880 chipset and 3 GB of RAM.

Read More: Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Dual Rear Cameras Include 13MP + 12MP Sensors with 3x Optical Zoom, Claims Analyst

According to GFXBench, the purported Galaxy A7 (2018) will be equipped with a native storage of 32 GB. For photography, it is expected to come with a rear camera of 16-megapixel and a front-facing shooter of 16-megapixel. The rear camera is capable of shooting full HD videos whereas the frontal camera can shoot 2K resolution videos. It is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

The 2017 editions of Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 are eligible to receive the upcoming Android O update. However, sad thing is that Samsung has not released Android Nougat update for these phones. The Galaxy A (2017) smartphones are still running on the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Hence, the release of Android O will be not only slow of Galaxy A (2017) phones but also 2018 iterations are likely to receive it late.

The Galaxy A7 (2018) is expected to debut with 2018 editions of Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. Hence, leaked information on other Galaxy A (2018) phones are expected to surface in the coming months. A Chinese leakster had recently claimed that Galaxy A (2018) phones would be coming dual rear cameras. There is a possibility that Galaxy A7 (2018) may feature dual rear cameras, but the GFXBench listing does not reveal it because it usually shows information on only one camera sensors of the dual rear cameras.

(source|via)
