It was recently spotted at Geekbench benchmarking site and in the database of Bluetooth SIG authority. Now the handset has appeared at the Google Play Console (via. Mukul Sharma) to reveal its front design and a few specs.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A82’s image in its Google Play Console listing reveals that it has a punch-hole screen. It is unclear whether it is a placeholder image or an official render of the phone.</p>

<p>The Play Console listing reveals that the Galaxy A82 is powered Qualcomm’s SM8150P chipset. This model number confirms that the A82 is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-855-plus">Snapdragon 855+</a>. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/03/samsung-galaxy-a82-appears-on-geekbench-with-a-snapdragon-855-processor/">Geekbench listing of the phone</a> had revealed that it has 4 GB of RAM. The Play Console appearance reveals that it could be also available in a 6 GB RAM variant.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-381389" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="976" height="801" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1.jpg 976w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1-300x246.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1-768x630.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1-696x571.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Google-Play-Console1-512x420.jpg 512w" sizes="(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px" /></p>
<p>The Galaxy A82 supports a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 450ppi screen density. The device is preinstalled with Android 11 OS. Its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/09/samsung-galaxy-a82-bags-bluetooth-certification-launching-soon/">appearance at Bluetooth SIG</a> had revealed that it carries support for Bluetooth 5.0.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A82 is expected to replace the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a80">Galaxy A80</a> which debuted with a slide-up rotating camera design back in 2019. A recent report claimed that the smartphone will be sporting a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/19/samsung-galaxy-a82-sony-imx686-64mp/">Sony IMX686 64-megapixel primary camera</a>. Reputed tipster Evan Blass had recently claimed that the A82 is equipped with a “dual-use” camera. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know whether the A82 will feature a slide-up rotating camera like its predecessor. While the phone is expected to debut around mid-2021, there is no new information on its launch date.</p>

The Galaxy A82 is also expected to arrive with an innovative camera module. Now, German publication <a href="https://www.galaxyclub.nl/nieuws/samsung-stopt-64-megapixel-camera-in-de-galaxy-a82/"><em>GalaxyClub.nl </em></a>has shared important information about the main camera of the A82.</p>
<p>According to the publication, the Galaxy A82’s camera setup will be featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 lens and not a Samsung ISOCELL GW2/1 sensor. There is no information on the auxiliary cameras of the A82. It is unclear whether the smartphone is equipped with a slide-out camera as its predecessor.</p>
<p>Also, it appears that the device could be aimed towards the South Korean market, and not the European market now. It is said to be equipped with a Quantum Random Number Generator chip for better data encryption.</p>

Last week, the handset was spotted at the Geekbench’s database. Now, the handset has received approval from the <a href="https://launchstudio.bluetooth.com/ListingDetails/124919">Bluetooth SIG</a> authority (<a href="https://twitter.com/yabhishekhd/status/1369112245058342912">via</a>).</p>
<p>The Bluetooth SIG listing states that the Galaxy A82 5G moniker is associated with model number SM-826S. The same variant was spotted at Geekbench in the previous week. The Bluetooth certification reveals that the handset supports Bluetooth 5.0 with LE (Low Energy). No other specifications can be found mentioned in the listing.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-375952" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Bluetooth-SIG.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="680" height="614" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Bluetooth-SIG.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Bluetooth-SIG-300x271.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-A82-Bluetooth-SIG-465x420.jpg 465w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>The Galaxy A82’s Geekbench appearance revealed that it could be powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-855">Snapdragon 855</a> or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-855-plus">Snapdragon 855+</a> chipset that fueled flagship phones back in 2019. The listing also revealed that the phone has 4 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS. Devices are known for going official around a month after appearing at Bluetooth SIG. Hence, there is a possibility that the Galaxy A82 may go official at some points in the coming month.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A82 will be succeeding the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-730G">Snapdragon 730G</a> powered <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a80">Galaxy A80</a> handset that debuted back in April 2019. While the SD855/855+ chip is old, it is certainly an upgrade as compared to the predecessor model. The major attraction of the A80 was that it sported a notch-less screen and a swivel rear camera module. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy A82 continues to sport the same design.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A80 came with specs like a 6.7-inch S-AMOLED FHD+ display, an in-screen fingerprint reader, a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging support, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of built-in storage, and a rear camera system featuring a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a TOF 3D lens.</p>

It was able to achieve this by adopting a slider+ rotating camera design. There have been reports of a successor that will launch as the Galaxy A82, and now it has been spotted on Geekbench with an old but powerful processor.</p>
<p>Multiple benchmark results of the upcoming device, first spotted by <a href="https://twitter.com/TechnoAnkit1/status/1367139556256964608">Ankit</a>, have appeared on Geekbench under the name “samsung SM-A826S”. The scores are similar and all of the results show that the phone&#8217;s processor (motherboard) is “msmnile” a.k.a. the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm&#8217;s 2019 flagship processor. This is definitely an upgrade from the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-730G">Snapdragon 730G</a> which made its debut in the Galaxy A80 but the fact is that it is a two-year-old flagship chipset.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-374729" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench.png?x10805" alt="Galaxy A82 Geekbench results" width="821" height="295" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench.png 821w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-300x108.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-768x276.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-696x250.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 821px) 100vw, 821px" /></p>
<p>Actually, we should not be too surprised as Samsung has shown more than a few times already that it is comfortable with using chipsets from its flagships a few years ago for newer devices. The recently launched<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-f62/"> Galaxy F62</a> is an example as it uses the Exynos 9825 processor that powered the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10/">Galaxy Note10</a>. Another example is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note10-lite/">Galaxy Note 10 Lite</a> which launched in early 2020 but uses the Exynos 9810 processor found inside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s9-exynos/">Galaxy S9</a> from 2018.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-374728" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-b.png?x10805" alt="Galaxy A82 Geekbench" width="649" height="740" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-b.png 649w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-b-263x300.png 263w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Galaxy-A82-Geekbench-b-368x420.png 368w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /></p>
<p>Our guess is that Samsung probably has a lot of these old chipsets in stock and the best way to get rid of them is to ship them with new devices.</p>
<p>The Geekbench result shows that the Galaxy A82 will run Android 11 out of the box and have 6GB of RAM. While we know that the Snapdragon 855 doesn&#8217;t have a built-in 5G modem, earlier reports have revealed that the Galaxy A82 will have 5G support. This means that it will have a separate 5G modem just like other 5G phones powered by the same chipset.</p>
<p>Samsung is expected to launch the phone in a few months but we expect more details including its design to surface before an official announcement.</p>

Now it has been reported that a successor, called the Galaxy A82, is coming and the big question is if it will bring back the slider design.</p>
<figure id="attachment_262214" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-262214" style="width: 1000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-262214" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy A80" width="1000" height="563" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samsung-Galaxy-A80-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-262214" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy A80</figcaption></figure>
<p>The Galaxy A82 was first heard of in early 2020 when <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> applied for a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/02/samsung-trademarks-galaxy-a12-a22-a32-a42-a52-a62-a72-a8-and-a92/">trademark for a bunch of Galaxy A smartphones</a>, some of which have already launched. It has been reported that the phone will have 5G support. However, there is no information about how it looks, so we do not know if it will keep the slider + rotating camera design of the Galaxy A80.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A80 launched with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display that didn&#8217;t have a notch or hole in the screen. Its sliding + rotating mechanism allowed for the triple rear cameras to slide upwards and then rotate to double as the front-facing cameras.</p>
<p>The phone also packed a Snapdragon 730G processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 48MP+8MP+TOF triple rear cameras. It launched with a 3700mAh battery capacity with support for 25W fast wired charging.</p>
<p>Since the Galaxy A82 chipset will have 5G, it should come with a 5G chipset from <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a>, or <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>; though our guess is that it will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset. We expect the phone to pack a bigger battery capacity than its predecessor and run <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-11">Android 11</a> out of the box.</p>
<p>The Galaxy A82 is expected to be announced during or after summer, so there is still a bit of waiting to do. We expect more details to surface as time goes on. Nevertheless, please let us know in the comment box if you will like the phone to bring back the slider design of its predecessor or if you prefer the current punch hole trend.</p>
