Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra With a 16” Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display, 120Hz Refresh Rate Launched

Samsung Electronics, Wednesday, held a launch event where the Galaxy S23 series was the star of the night. The tech giant equally announced new Galaxy Book notebook models. The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra emerges as the top model among the laptops announced. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra was launched alongside the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, and Book 3 Pro. It is the premium model among the trio and it offers ultra-high-performance computing.

The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra packs a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The laptop is powered by an Intel Core i9-13900H CPU while the graphics are powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. The laptop also comes with 32GB LPDDR5 RAM.

The premium laptop also features a full-sized backlit keyboard and a Windows Precision trackpad. There is a full HD webcam onboard which makes the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra suitable for video conferencing. The notebook also features various connectivity options such as a Thunderbolt 4 (USB Type-C) port, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Book 3 Ultra gets its juice from a 76Wh battery that should deliver an extended battery life. The device equally supports 100W fast charging, making it possible to quickly recharge the battery when it goes flat.

In terms of the software, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra comes pre-installed with the latest Windows 11 operating system. The laptop also comes with some features such as Expert RAW Auto Share which allows users to transfer RAW images from a Galaxy smartphone to the laptop automatically. Other features include Galaxy Book Smart Switch, Private Share, Quick Share, Samsung Multi Control, Samsung Pass, Second Screen, and Studio Mode. The Galaxy Book Smart Switch makes it possible to easily transfer data from an old PC to the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. On its part, the Samsung Multi Control gives users the leverage to control their Galaxy smartphone using the laptop’s keyboard and trackpad.

Samsung is yet to reveal the pricing details of the Galaxy Book3 Ultra. However, the laptop is expected to go on sale in selected markets soon. The Book 3 Ultra will be available in a sole 16-inch Graphite model.

Samsung will be holding its first Unpacked event of 2023 later today (February 1). The South Korean electronics giant is expected to unveil its next-gen flagship smartphone series and laptop series.

This will be the first in-person Samsung Unpacked event in 3 years. The last such conference was held back in February 2020 for the announcement of the Galaxy S20 series.

That said, these events are also live-streamed for anyone to watch. Therefore, let’s check out how you can watch today’s conference.

The latest Samsung Unpacked event will begin at 10 AM PST on February 1. The in-person conference will be held in San Francisco.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra Could Feature Company’s New 120Hz OLED Panel

A new OLED panel developed exclusively for laptops was recently announced by Samsung’s display division. The 16-inch diagonal display has a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 3K resolution, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. According to the manufacturer, this is the first laptop OLED panel with an integrated touchscreen. According to a recent rumour circulating online, the same panels will be used in the next Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.

Furthermore, Samsung claims that the recently unveiled display lessens reliance on the environment because it doesn’t require a separate plastic film for the touchscreen layer, making it an environmentally friendly panel. Samsung’s next launch event will be held on Feb. 1. At the event, the South Korean tech giant will announce the much-awaited Galaxy S23 series. The company is also expected to unveil a slew of new Galaxy Book 3 series of notebooks through the same event, namely the Galaxy Book 3, the Galaxy Book 3 360, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, and the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. A report by MySmartPrice that surfaced yesterday revealed the key specifications of the Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Book 3 Ultra. Soon after, tipster Snoopy Tech took to Twitter to share some more details about the device.

As per the new leak, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will feature a 16-inch AMOLED display that offers WQXGA resolution (2800 x 1800 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The device will come equipped with Windows 11 Home. It measures 35.54 x 22.58 x 1.32 cm and weighs around 1.17 kg.

The base model will be powered by the 13^th generation Intel Core i7-13700H processor, RTX 4050 6 GB GPU, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB / 1 TB of SSD storage. It will be available in Graphite color.

There will be a high-end version featuring the 13th generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GDDR6 8 GB GPU, 32 GB of storage, and 1 TB of SSD storage. The leak does not mention anything about the battery capacity of the device. However, MSP’s report states that the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will have a 76Whr battery, which can be charged using 136W power adapter.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro specifications (rumored)

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro will arrive in 14-inch and 16-inch AMOLED display variants. It will support WQXGA+ (2800 x 1800 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also run on Windows 11 Home and come in color options like Beige and Graphite.

MSP’s report revealed that the device will come in 13^th generation Intel processor variants like the Core i5-1340P and Core i7-1360P. The 14-inch model will have a 63Whr battery, while the 16-inch model will have a 76Whr battery. Both will come with a 65W power adapter. The 14-inch model measures 30.44 x 19.98 x 1.12 cm and weighs 0.87 kg, while the bigger model will have a thickness of 13mm and weigh 1.6 kg.

The Galaxy Book 3 series is also heading to India. Samsung India’s website and Amazon India are now receiving the pre-reservations of the Galaxy Book 3 lineup.
