Fans of affordable fitness trackers in the US will be disappointed to learn that the new Samsung Galaxy Fit3 will not be available for purchase domestically.

Samsung has confirmed the decision, stating that they carefully evaluate product launches based on market trends and the specific needs of each region.

The Galaxy Fit3 will, however, be released in select markets across Europe, Asia, South America, and later in Korea.

Samsung sees greater potential in those regions and believes the costs associated with launching the Fit3 in the US – namely marketing, distribution, and software support – are not justified by the current size of the US fitness tracker market.

This decision aligns with a broader trend in the wearables market. Globally, fitness band sales have declined in recent years.

Market analysis firm Canalys reports that consumers are increasingly favoring smartwatches, which offer more advanced features such as communication, app support, and health monitoring.

The US wearables market is particularly competitive, with established brands vying for consumer attention.

While Samsung generally positions its wearables in a premium segment, the lower price points typical of fitness bands may create a less-than-ideal fit for its overall strategy.

Samsung itself accidentally included the Galaxy Fit 3 on its website, and the official user manual is now even available online. Adding to this, a hands-on video showing the Galaxy Fit 3 has now surfaced online.

The Galaxy Fit 3 smart band with model number “SM-R390” has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards by folks at TheTechoutlook. Although the certification does not give any details regarding the specifications, it does mean that the authorities have greenlit a potential future launch of the smart band in India.

Although there is no solid specification information available on the Galaxy Fit 3 at this moment, we do know some details about the smartwatch. We know that it is designed with a larger display capsule compared to its predecessor, featuring a sleek metallic design for enhanced aesthetics. Notably, the watchband is replaced by non-removable straps, offering a different yet streamlined build. The Korean giant is bringing some surprising accessories and wearables this year, amid talks of the smart ring, a new wearable is spotted on FCC with SM-R390. As per the documents, and label diagram the new wearable appears to be the successor to the Galaxy Fit2 which was launched three years ago.

New Samsung Wearable on FCC

The listing unveils the rear design schematics of the wearable which seems to carry some heart rate sensor along with the certification details. We could even spot the pogo pin charger which has remained part of the Galaxy Fit series for the past several years. It seems to bundle with a 5W adapter if we consider the rating information on the rear side of the schematic. Further, it is tested with a B319 battery.

It will be a successor to the Galaxy Fit 2 which was launched a few years ago featuring a 1.1-inch AMOLED display, 5ATM water resistance, and a few other features. Following the predecessor, we expect the new Galaxy Fit 3 to feature a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, automatic workout detection, sleep tracking, and a few new features. Further, it will surely bring utility features such as notifications sync, music controls, etc. We expect Samsung to bring a Calling feature considering the current competition in the same segment.

It will run rtOS which aids all the above features. However, nothing is confirmed yet from Samsung’s side, but the certification listing confirms a new Samsung Wearable is in the works.
