Here’s how to watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked launch event live

Samsung is all set to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean giant will launch some of its premium products in the market, including next-gen foldable smartphones and next-gen smartwatches.

The event will take place tomorrow, i.e., on 10th August. It will start at 06:00 AM PT which is 09:00 AM ET, and 06:30 PM IST. It will be live streamed on the company’s own website as well as on its official YouTube account.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event, the company will unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones. Along with that, it is also expected to showcase the new Galaxy Watch 5 series. The smartwatches will run the new Wear OS, which is a combination of Google’s Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen OS.

While the foldable smartphones are yet to go official, the company has already started taking reservations for the pre-orders of the devices in the lead-up to the event. It also offers $200 in credit for those who reserve the upcoming devices.

Samsung to Reportedly Drop “Z” From its Foldable Smartphones’ Branding

Samsung is reportedly dumping the letter “Z” from the branding of its latest foldable smartphones. The upcoming foldables by the company will likely not have Z in their names and will just be called Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4. It is a welcome change if true because the “Z” feels a little out of place and makes the name unnecessarily long.

Tipster Snoopytech claims that Samsung is dropping the “Z” letter from its foldable series branding and starting with Galaxy Flip and Fold 4, the letter won’t be printed on the boxes anymore. The tipster claims that this is because the Russian Military prominently uses the letter “Z”.

Apparently, the letter “Z” has become a symbol of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The letter was found painted on many Russian military vehicles taking part in the invasion of Ukraine. The meaning of the symbol is unclear, however, some claim that it represents a military zone, while others suggest it refers to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In addition, the Russian defense ministry has signaled that “Z” stands for “za pobedu,” meaning “for victory.”

Samsung had removed the letter “Z” from its foldables in several European countries including Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. As you can see in the image below, the Foldables are referred to as Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip 3.

The latest Samsung Galaxy Flip 4 and Fold 4 are scheduled to launch on August 10 at Samsung unpacked event. The foldables are expected to carry significant improvements in terms of display, battery, and performance. Both the devices are rumored to be equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
