Samsung announced the Galaxy Buds Pro alongside the Galaxy S21 series. The 360 Audio feature powered by Dolby Head Tracking technology is one of the main highlights of this product. However, this feature is not supported on all devices. The company has been rolling out compatibility to some of its older handsets. The latest smartphone to add support for this feature is Galaxy M51.

The Galaxy M51 was one of the best budget smartphones launched by Samsung in 2020. The device debuted with One UI Core 2.1 based on Android 10. The handset was updated to Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 earlier this year.

A few months later, the phone is now receiving yet another important system update. According to SamMobile, the latest system update for the Galaxy M51 adds support for 360 Audio via Galaxy Buds Pro.

Apart from bringing the compatibility for one of the primary features of Samsung’s flagship truly wireless earphones, the new update also bumps up the security patch level to June 2021.

That said, like any other OTA software update, this one is also being seeded out in batches. Therefore, it may take some time to reach every unit. Anyway, users of the phone can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their device has received the update.

The Galaxy M51 was the most-expensive Galaxy M series smartphone up until Galaxy M62 was released a few days back. This handset debuted with One UI Core 2.1 based on Android 10. Months after its release, Samsung is now rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 core update for this phone.

Unlike many Samsung budget smartphones, the Galaxy M51 did not receive the One UI Core 2.5 update. It also did not get the One UI Core 3.0 (Android 11) update. Instead, the South Korean tech giant is updating it directly to One UI Core 3.1.

In other words, the Galaxy M51 is the first Galaxy M series smartphone to get the One UI 3.1 Core update based on Android 11.

According to SamMobile, the update for this device is currently live in Russia with firmware version M515FXXU2CUB7. Apart from bringing Android 11 and new features, the latest system update for the Galaxy M51 also bumps up the security patch level to March 2021.

Right now, the software build is being pushed in batches, and therefore, it may take time to reach every unit in the country. Also, we can expect Samsung to extend the availability of this update to more regions in the coming days.

1. Enable Developer Mode by tapping the OneUI version 7 times after heading to the Settings > About Phone.

4. Press the volume up button until the bootloader unlock menu appears.

Step 1: Create a Patched boot image

1. Download the firmware file for your smartphone and extract it into a folder.
2. Download the Magisk Manager app on your smartphone
3. Now, Connect your smartphone with the PC using the USB cable.
4. You need to transfer the boot.img file from the extracted folder to your phone.
5. Open, the Magisk Manager application and select Install > Install > Patch from the image file.
6. Select the boot.img file that you copied in the step above.
7. Magisk will start patching the image.
8. Now, replace the boot.img file in the extracted folder with the newly created “patched_boot.img” file via Magisk Manager App.

Step 2: Flash patched boot image

1. Download 7zip software to archive the new patched_boot.img into .tar format. (Odin accepts .tar format)
2. Download Latest Odin Tool on your PC.
3. Download ADB and Fastboot drivers on your computer and extract it to the folder.
4. Copy the .tar file or patched boot image into the extracted ADB and Fastboot directory.
5. Boot into download mode – Turn off the phone, and hold the Volume Up + Volume down buttons, and connect with the PC at the same time.
6. Now, open the Odin.exe file as administrator.
7. A blue column will be visible under ID:COM field one you are connected.
8. Browse for patch boot.tar image in the AP section.
9. Now, head over to Options and select Auto Reboot and F.Reset options. Unselect all other options
10. Click on the Start button to root your device.
11. After completion, your device will reboot.
12. That’s it!

You’ve successfully gained root access, now you can install any custom ROM, install MOD, and extend the functionality of your device. The Samsung Galaxy M51 has finally launched in India after a plethora of leaks and teasers. It will be available in two storage configurations – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB priced at ₹24,999 and ₹26,999 respectively. Buyers can pick it up in either Electric Blue or Celestial Black color. The device can be purchased from Samsung online store, Amazon India, and partner retailers. The first sale for this phone is scheduled for September 18 at 12 PM. Customers can also avail a ₹2,000 discount on Amazon up until September 20 using HDFC Bank cards.

The new Samsung Galaxy M51 comes equipped with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (FHD+), 20:9 aspect ratio, a maximum brightness of 420 nits, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Also, a 32MP selfie camera nests inside the centrally-aligned punch-hole at the top of the screen. 

This panel was previously reported to be supplied by TCL CSOT and not Samsung Display like any other device from Samsung Electronics. However, it doesn’t seem to be the case.

As for the build, the frame and the back of the phone are made of polycarbonate. Samsung markets the latter as “Glasstic”. The rear panel houses an identical quad-camera setup as found on the recently launched Galaxy M31s. That means it has got the same 64MP Sony IMX682 primary shooter, 12MP ultra-wide unit, 5MP macro snapper, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Further, the handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage with support microSD card up to 512GB via a dedicated slot. In the software department, the phone runs One UI Core 2.1 based on Android 10.

Taking about the elephant in the room, the Galaxy M51 is backed by a humongous 7,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and reverse charging. What’s more interesting is despite the huge battery, the smartphone only weighs 213g.

Other features of the handset include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, 4G LTE, dual-band WiFi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1. Unfortunately, though the phone comes with NFC, it does not support Samsung Pay like the similarly priced Galaxy A51.

The South Korean company has been teasing its launch in India for the past week. Today, the Galaxy M51’s landing page on Amazon India got updated with its launch date and new teasers. It is now confirmed that the Galaxy M51 will break cover in India on Sept. 10.

The Galaxy M51 launch event for India will kick off at 12 PM (local time) on Sept. 10. The updated Amazon listing has no information on its specs. However, the specs are no secret since the device has already launched in Germany.

The Galaxy M51 is a new smartphone from Samsung that is scheduled to launch in India soon. Surprisingly, the device is now available for pre-order in Germany. The page for the phone is also live on the official Samsung Germany website.

The Galaxy M51 has a 6.7-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display. There is a hole in the upper part of the screen for the 32MP selfie camera and above it is a small grille for the speaker. The device has a glossy back that is home to four cameras and buyers will be able to choose between purchasing the phone in Black or White.

The device has an octa-core processor, and as is typical of Samsung, the chipset is not specified. However, we are pretty sure it is a 4G processor. The Galaxy M51 is available in only one configuration and that is with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is a MicroSD card slot that allows you to add an additional 512GB of storage.

The rear cameras include a 5MP f/2.4 depth camera, a 64MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 camera with a 123° field of view, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. There are lots of camera features including the familiar Live Focus, panorama, and macro mode.

The Galaxy M51 is an upcoming mid-range phone. A support page is already live in Russia and there have been multiple leaks in recent weeks. Another leak has surfaced and it includes press renders in addition to a specification sheet of the device.

Starting with the specs, Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414) tweeted that the phone will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 1080 x 2340 resolution. There is a centered punch hole that houses a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The back of the phone will be home to four cameras – a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera, a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera.

The Galaxy M51 will pack a massive 7000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. Surprisingly, its weight is 213 grams and it is just 8.5 millemters thick. It will run Android 10 out of the box.

If you are wondering about the processor that will power the device, the leaker said his source informed him that it is the Snapdragon 730(G), however, there are reports that the chipset is different. Nevertheless, you may want to keep your fingers crossed on this one. Also, since this is not a 5G smartphone, it narrows down the choice of chipset that will power it.

Sudhanshu has also shared press renders of the phone. As you can see in the images, the Galaxy M51 will be available in black and white with a rectangular camera housing placed on the left side with a small bump. The images also show that the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner even though it has an AMOLED screen.

Renders of Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy M51 first surfaced online back in March. Since then, we have had to wait for more details. At the moment, the Galaxy M51 specifications have surfaced online with the leak showing the device will pack a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a punch-hole design. The device will also have 6GB or 8GB RAM versions with 128GB storage.

Further, the Galaxy M51 is said to feature a 64MP quad-camera setup at the rear but we must note that earlier renders show a triple camera setup. What caught our fancy pretty quickly is the huge 7000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. This will likely be the main selling point for the device. For reference, the Galaxy Tab S7 tablet packs a 7,040mAh which puts the M51’s battery in the tablet category. The battery is also 2,500mAh larger than the battery in the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

The Galaxy M51 had earlier appeared on GeekBench with the model number SM-M515F. The GeekBench listing shows the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoCchipset paired with 8GB of RAM. The interface will be provided by Android 10 OS.

In terms of the build, the Samsung Galaxy M51 will likely come with a glasstic body similar to the M31s but we can’t be so sure. We’ll have to wait for further details. The phone will reportedly launch in India soon.

Citing tipster Ishan Agarwal as the source, the publication reported that the Galaxy M51 will be arriving in 6 GB and 8 GB RAM editions. Both models are expected to come with 128 GB of internal storage. The tipster did not reveal the name of the chipset that will be fueling the device. Past reports have claimed that it could be driven by the Snapdragon 730 SoC.

The publication further stated that the backside of the phone device will have a quad camera setup. It will be pioneered by a 64-megapixel main camera. An ultrawide 12-megapixel lens, a portrait camera of 5-megapixel, and a macro lens of 5-megapixel are also included in the camera setup. For shooting selfies, the smartphone will be flaunting a 32-megapixel front camera.

Now, the device also gets FCC certification revealing it to support 25W fast charging.

The Galaxy M series lineup of budget smartphones are Samsung’s online-exclusive SKUs. These handsets feature better specifications for their price compared to the company’s Galaxy A series.

This long-leaked Galaxy M51 is expected to be the successor of Galaxy 40 from earlier last year. It is said to be the first Samsung smartphone to feature a non-Samsung Display OLED panel. According to China’s 3C and Safety South Korea, it will be the first handset from the company to come with a 7,000mAh battery.

Now, the FCC certification (via SamMobile) confirms this phone to support 25W fast charging. It also corroborates its model number to be SM-M515 with dual-SIM card slot.

Further, it also confirms the handset to support Bluetooth with LE, NFC, and dual-band WiFi. As per previous leaks, the device will feature Snapdragon 730 SoC (it was thought to be 675), 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage,  and a quad-camera setup with 64MP primary sensor and 12MP ultra-wide unit.

The Samsung Galaxy M41 was reported to be canceled but that does not seem to be the case. A massive 6,800 mAh battery has now popped up on China’s 3C and Safety Korea certification bureaus, which could be of this handset, Galaxy M51 or both.

The Galaxy M41 first came into light in March when @OnLeaks shared renders of a device, which he said to be either Galaxy M41 or Galaxy M51. Then, in mid-June, it was reported to be the first Samsung smartphone with an OLED display from a Chiese supplier. A few days later, the handset was claimed to be canceled.

Now, in July, a humongous 6,800 mAh battery with model number EB-BM415ABY clears 3C and Safety Korea certifications. Though MySmartPrice claims it to be of Galaxy M41, a cancelled device, we believe there is a possibility that this battery could be of Galaxy M51 instead or maybe even both.

For those unaware, Galaxy M21, Galaxy M30s, and Galaxy M31 share the same  EB-BM207ABY 6,000 mAh battery. If we go by the model number, then this battery should be of Galaxy M20 but it isn’t.

Likewise, the newly certified battery could be included with the so-canceled Galaxy M41, Galaxy M51 or both. Having said that, the latter device has leaked more, including camera specs, Geekbench, launch details, and even a production claim. Therefore, this battery could be more likely of Galaxy M51.

Earlier this week, we reported that the Galaxy M41 will be the first Samsung phone to use an OLED display supplied by a third-party manufacturer, in this case, TCL’s Star Optoelectronics Technology. The latest news out of Korea says Samsung has decided to cancel the phone.

According to SamMobile, Samsung has “stopped work” on the Galaxy M41 and is instead focusing on the Galaxy M51. Unfortunately, no reason was provided as to why Samsung decided to cancel the phone whose renders were released back in March.

The Galaxy M51 has been in development for a while and was also supposed to use OLED panels from a third-party. However, Samsung has decided to go with its own in-house panels as the third-party panels didn’t meet its quality requirements.

The specifications of the Galaxy M51 are currently unknown but there are rumors it will share several of its specs, and even design, with the Galaxy A51. A similar strategy was adopted by Samsung for the Galaxy M30s and Galaxy A50s.

At the moment, Samsung’s decision to use third-party panels has been suspended until next year according to the source.

The Galaxy M51 doesn’t have a release date yet but it is expected to be announced this month.

Despite previous reports to the contrary, we hear the Samsung M51 will use a China Star OLED. Display shipments start in July. This will be the first Galaxy OLED smartphone not using displays from Samsung Display.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy M series phone includes the recently benchmarked Galaxy M51 and Galaxy M41 whose renders surfaced in March. According to The Elec, the latter will be the first Samsung phone to feature OLED panel from a different supplier than Samsung Display.

Samsung Display is the market leader as the supplier of OLED panels to smartphone OEMs. Last year, the sister company of Samsung Electronics accounted for 80% of small and medium-sized OLED panels market.

But the monopoly of Samsung Display may soon end as Chinese panel suppliers have begun to improve their quality over the past few years. In fact, Samsung Electronics itself had sent a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to BOE for Galaxy S21, however, those panels failed in tests.

Now, according to a new report, the forthcoming Galaxy M41 will use China’s TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) made OLED panel. The flexible screen will be of 6.67-inches with FHD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio.

The same panel is found in high-end smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 10 series and Motorola Edge series

The report further states that Samsung Electronics is also testing BOE OLED panel for Galaxy M41. If CSOT manages to supply panels for Samsung, future Galaxy M and Galaxy A series might feature displays made by these two Chinese companies rather than Samsung Display.

Both CSOT and BOE have already supplied LCD panels for Samsung’s budget smartphones earlier.

By using low-cost yet reliable OLED panels from Chinese suppliers, Samsung Electronics can aggressively price their budget smartphones in countries like India. On the other hand, companies like BOE and CSOT will attract more clients in the future increasing their market share.

Samsung is raining budget smartphones this year and it is a good move given the current situation. Last year, the brand discontinued Galaxy J series and replaced it with new Galaxy M and revamped Galaxy A series. The former is priced aggressively as it is mostly available exclusively online. Now, according to Geekbench listings, the brand may soon unveil Galaxy M51, which has been under the leak radar since December 2019.

The Galaxy M series helped Samsung gain market share in the Indian online smartphone market, which is primarily dominated by Xiaomi. This series has been doing well with a better price to performance ratio than previous devices from the brand.

Unfortunately, the recently launched Galaxy M11 is the most underwhelming handset in the series till date. But the company could uplift its image with the upcoming Galaxy M51 as the specs seem interesting, at least on paper.

The handset was benchmarked multiple times on Geekbench. In the test, we attached above, the Galaxy M51 scores 546 and 1784 points for single-core and multi-core respectively.

According to the listing, the phone will come with model number SM-M515F and will run Android 10. The motherboard mentioned is sm6150, which is the port number of Qualcomm Snapdragon 675. Lastly, it will feature 8GB RAM.

As per the previous leak, the phone will sport a quad-camera setup consisting of 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 primary sensor. It will also have a 128GB variant and is expected to launch in late June or early July.

A fresh report on 91mobiles has revealed the camera specs and launch timeframe of both devices.

The publication has learned through industry sources that the Galaxy M31s smartphone may debut as early as next week or at the beginning of June. The Galaxy M51 is speculated to debut by the end of June.

The South Korean company may launch it earlier, but it could be made available for purchase by late June or early July. The reason behind it seems to be a slow production due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. The Galaxy M51 and M31s are both expected to come with a rear-facing 64-megapixel quad camera. Hence, it appears that the renders of the Galaxy M51 that appeared with triple rear cameras a few months ago were incorrect. The main sensor seems to be Samsung’s ISOCELL GW1 64-megapixel lens.

The rear side of the device has a rectangle camera housing that houses three cameras and an LED flash. The handset has 162.6 x 77.5mm dimensions.
