Samsung’s Galaxy Note lineup never really fared well for its repairability. Last year’s Galaxy Note 9 got a poor score of just four out of 10 in iFixit’s repairability score. However, according to the latest teardown by iFixit, the new Galaxy Note 10+ 5G takes its internals to a whole new level. It’s the worse of the lot, scoring only three out of ten for its repairability.

Why the low score you ask? Well, everything seems to be glued down inside the phone, right from the back cover to the battery, which is now wider than before. The biggest change inside the new Note 10+ 5G is the use of a stacked motherboard (similar to Apple) in order to save space. But this makes for a trickier mother and daughterboard connection which forced Samsung to use “annoying interconnect cables” (as iFixit puts it) which further block access to the battery.

Another notable change inside was the use of the square-ish vibration motor instead of the regular circular one found on its predecessors. iFixit notes that this should result in better haptics on the new model. You’ll also find three mmWave antenna modules inside for 5G, two on each side of the phone and one facing the screen.

But what gave this phone the worst repairability score is the mess you have to go through for something as simple as replacing its beautiful display. iFixit says that the Note 10+ 5G will either require a complete teardown or you’ll have to replace half the phone just to change its 6.8-inch screen! That’s too much of a hassle and it practically kills any possibility of doing it yourself.

In short, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G is an amazing smartphone as long as you don’t break it.

Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Note 10+ through a global launch event in New York on Aug. 7. The reservations of the Note 10 series have started in the U.S. Its pre-orders will begin in India on Aug. 8. China too will be receiving the Note 10 lineup in the near future since it has been certified by the 3C authority of China.

The database of 3C has a listing for SM-N9760 model number. Recent reports have revealed that it belongs to Galaxy Note 10+. The 3C listing also reveals that it is the 5G version of the Note 10+ and it will be accompanied by a charger that supports up 25W charger. Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy Note 10+ will be equipped with an optional 45W charger. The 3C listing suggests that the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G will be coming with a 25W charger.

It goes without saying the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G being a premium device will command a hefty price tag. However, its disappointing to know that users will have to spend more money to get 45W charger for it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Specifications

Rumors surrounding the Galaxy Note 10+ have revealed that it measures 162.3 x 77.1 x 7.9mm and it weighs 198 grams. The smartphone houses a 6.8-inch S-AMOLED Infinity-O curved display that supports quad HD+ resolution of 1080 x 3040 pixels. There is a centered punch-hole at the top version of the display for the 10-megapixel front-facing camera. The display of the phone is embedded with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Depending on the market, the Galaxy Note 10+ will come in Snapdragon 855+ or Exynos 9825 chipset models. The SoC will be assisted by 12 GB of RAM and it may come in 256 GB or 512 GB UFS 3.0 internal storage options. It will lack support for external storage.

The back panel of the phone will feature a triple camera setup along with a ToF sensor. It will come with a 12-megapixel main sensor with f/1.5 – f/2.4 variable aperture, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.1 aperture and a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone houses a 4,300mAh battery. It will come with up to 20W fast wireless charging and 12W reverse wireless charging. The Note 10+ has AKG-tuned stereo speakers, but it lacks support for a 3.5mm audio jack.

Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy Note 10 series will include three devices such as Note 10, Note 10+ and Note 10+ 5G.

The Korean giant launched its new Galaxy S10 series – Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e last month in New York. Later the devices were officially made available in China, Hong Kong, India, US, Europe, and other markets. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 in the US and the Exynos 9820 SoC in other countries. Recently, XDA Developers figured that Galaxy S10 kernel source code carries some information about the Samsung’s next Galaxy flagship device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10’s code-name is discovered in the source code carrying information about 5G network connectivity. Precisely, the code-name which was revealed by a notable tipster, Ice Universe long time ago is referenced in the defconfig file of the Galaxy S10 running Exynos 9820. The reference can be seen in the commented lines of code where beyond0 refers to the Samsung Galaxy S10e, beyond1 is the Galaxy S10 (uncommented), beyond2 is the Galaxy S10+ and beyondX substitutes the Galaxy S10 5G. The last but not the least is davinci5G which is expected to be a 5G Samsung Galaxy Note 10. It is possible that the Galaxy Note 10 will bear “davinci5G” code-name.

According to reports, Samsung rumored to announce new Exynos 9825 processor especially for Galaxy Note 10. There is no more information about the processor, but the launch possibility is quite high if we compare it with Samsung’s previous years’ records. We expect it to carry a few improvements over the Exynos 9820 including higher clock speeds. Samsung Galaxy Note 10 renders appeared last week carrying four rear cameras, and it gave us a promising look resembling Galaxy S10 series.

These are mere speculations as nothing is yet confirmed. We suggest taking these rumors as a pinch of salt.
