Samsung has a history of releasing software updates to devices even after their scheduled support period ends, and the company has done so again with the Galaxy Note 9. The handset was released way back in 2018 and the Korean company officially ended its support late in 2022. However, it has received an unexpected update with the February 2023 security patch. Here are the details.

As reported by SamMobile, Galaxy Note 9 is getting a surprise in the form of an unexpected software update that bumps the security patch level to February 2023. The update does not bring any new features or notable changes. Although the update was released last month, it has only been rolled out to the United Kingdom and Ireland in the past week. It should also make it to other markets in the near future.

The update is rolling out with firmware version N960FXXSAFWB3 and folks residing in the UK and Ireland should be able to download the update directly to their device OTA by tapping the Download and install option in its Settings » Software update menu.

Samsung has not provided any information on the new features or bug fixes included in the latest firmware update for the Galaxy Note 9. Additionally, the last three months of security patches released by Samsung do not reference any updates specifically for the Galaxy Note 9, as noted by SamMobile.

Galaxy Note 9 was retired with Android 10, however, it continued receiving security updates till May 2022. It was launched back in August 2018 with a Super AMOLED display, a versatile dual-camera setup, a 4000mAh battery, and the S-Pen. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 under the hood and 6GB RAM paired with 128GB Storage.

Samsung has just finished off the launch of the flagship Galaxy S23 lineup and the Galaxy Book 5 series. The Noble ROM 3.0 brings OneUI 5.0 based on Android 13 to the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 devices.

Noble ROM, developed by XDA Recognized Developer AlexisXDA, is a project aimed at giving the latest edition of Samsung’s custom skin to the Galaxy S9/S9+ and Note 9. It has now reached the 3.0 milestone, which means that the fifth major version of One UI is now available for anyone who is willing to flash the modified firmware on their devices. The build was moved over by the developer using a modified Galaxy Note 10 Lite and the Galaxy S20’s Android 13 version, which has been adjusted to make use of the 2018 flagships. In this way, they have enabled the support of the latest ROM to these galaxy devices.

The developer was able to adapt One UI 5.0 with Android 13 to the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 in the form of Noble ROM, an aftermarket firmware. Noble ROM can provide some comfort for long-term owners, especially those who don’t want to migrate to a conventional AOSP-derived Android 13 custom ROM because Samsung ended the monthly security patch release for the Galaxy Note 9 and S9 family a long time ago. Of course, it isn’t flawless, with a few flaws here and there. But what’s better than getting the latest operating system for outdated devices?

This port is only available for the Exynos 9810-powered Galaxy S9 and Note 9 global and Korean models. This indicates that consumers in the United States and Canada who own Qualcomm models will be unable to use One UI 5 on their Galaxy S9/S9+ or Note 9. On top of that, developers have now ported Android 12 for out-of-support old-gen Samsung flagship smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S series has been the best-selling premium Android smartphone family for years. They have always been the best Samsung phone of their released year, in addition to Galaxy Note.

Hence, these handsets are also popular in the developer community. In fact, they have such a fan following that a developer has managed to port Android 12  for the almost 11-year-old Galaxy S2. 

At the same time, yet another developer ported Android 12 for the nearly 10-year-old Galaxy S3. That’s not all, the latest version of Android is also available for Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note9, courtesy of one more developer.

AT&T is preparing to shut down its 3G network in just five months from now, in February 2022, and the telco is not in the mood to leave behind its customer with no signal. 

In an interesting turn of events, AndroidPolice’s founder Artem Russakovskii received a Galaxy Note 9. The irony was that he didn’t have any clue about it; meanwhile, several Reddit users have been reporting the same incident where people have reported receiving a two-year-old Galaxy smartphone out of the blue. Well, many customers also received the Galaxy Note 10’s with communication from AT&T.

“We have not changed our plans to replace 3G network-dependent devices. However, inventory constraints mean we sometimes must find substitutes for some devices,” AT&T in a statement to consumers when inquired about the mysterious Galaxy Note’s. Moreover, AT&T confirmed to AndroidPolice that the new smartphones would be coming with the factory operating system.

Well, AT&T is preparing to shut down its 3G network in about 5 months, that’s February 2022, and the carrier doesn’t want its customers to be stuck with no signal messages. So, AT&T seems to be upgrading their customers’ hardware to something compatible with atleast 4G networks. 

T Mobile will offer free 5G upgrades to customers using the 3G CDMA network upon shutdown. However, it’s not clear if T Mobile will be offering hardware upgrades or not. Meanwhile, Verizon has given its users quite a lot of time to figure out their contingency plan.

According to the report, Ma Bell is offering like-for-like platform replacement to its consumers for quite some time now. The Flip phone owners have been getting new compliant flip phones, whereas users with older iPhones are getting the iPhone SE 2. AndroidPolice also suggests that Android users have been getting RADIANT Cores on demand for a new smartphone. The publication reports that some users are getting the smartphones they’ve asked for while others are not. It also suggests that AT&T have been sending S9 and A11 to some customers.

LineageOS, the most-popular aftermarket Android distribution was recently updated to version 17.1 based on Android 10. When it happened, a number of devices soon garnered official support and we even made an entire list of official devices back then. Now, the Exynos Galaxy S9 / Galaxy S9 Plus and Galaxy Note 9 has been added to the list, in addition to Realme 2 Pro, however, it only supports LineageOS 16 for now. 

The Exynos-powered Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, and Galaxy Note 9 have been lately receiving unofficial builds of LineageOS 17.1 by a number of developers on the XDA Developers forum. But now, these devices are now finally receiving official builds for the first time. For comparison, the LineageOS project still does not support the Snapdragon variant of these smartphones yet.

The officially supported LineageOS 17.1 Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, and Galaxy Note 9 models are as listed below.

Hopefully, it will gain support for LineageOS 17.1 once the company rolls out the stable Realme UI update to it.

Sadly, the legendary Redmi Note 4, well-known in the custom ROM community has been dropped support for LineageOS as the maintainer no longer has the device with him.

According to a new report, Samsung is starting the Open Beta testing for the Galaxy S9 series which will receive it’s One UI 2. It was previously revealed that Samsung’s Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, and Galaxy Note 9 series would receive the open beta but the exact date was not specified. Now, it is confirmed to arrive next Monday on 16th December 2019.

For those interested in participating in the open beta, users must download the Samsung Members app. Through this you must register for the Open Beta program and once eligible will receive the Beta build. To install, go to Settings>Software updates>Download updates manually.
Note: Make sure to back up your devices, as it is Beta build and might lead to loss of user data. Also, update any app to the latest builds to avoid compatibility issues.

Recently, the South Korean tech giant had also announced the list of system upgrade plans for Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e; these devices will receive the stable live build for Android 10 OS in January 2020. Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+, on the other hand, will receive the software update in February 2020.

Samsung holds a dismal market share of less than 1 percent in China’s smartphone market. However, the company has been actively launching new phones in the country. It has recently launched the Galaxy W20 5G and Galaxy Fold foldable phones in the market. Today, the South Korean company has confirmed its Android 10 roadmap for its smartphones and tablets in China.

Samsung Android 10 Roadmap for China

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will the first phones to receive the Android 10 upgrade in January 2020. In February, the Galaxy A40s, Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ 5G will be updated to Android 10. In March, the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be provided with the Android 10 upgrade.

In the second quarter of 2020, the Galaxy A90 5G, Galaxy A50s, Galaxy A80, Galaxy A60 and Galaxy A9 Star phones will be upgraded to Android 10. The Galaxy A70, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy M30s, Galaxy A9 Star Lite, Galaxy A9 Star (carrier variant), Galaxy A9 2018 and Galaxy Tab S6 will be receiving the Android 10 update. The new version of Android will come to Galaxy S and Galaxy W2019 flip phone in June.

The Galaxy A20s, Galaxy A6s and Galaxy Tab S4 will be provided with Android 10 update in July. In August, the Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab S5e will the new Android edition. The upgrade will be made available for Galaxy Tab 10.5 2018 and Galaxy Tab A with S Pen in September. The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 will be updated with Android 10 in October.

In May, the Galaxy A9 Start Lite (SM-A6068) smartphone and Galaxy Tab S4 (SM-T830 / T835C) tablet will be provided with Android 9 Pie OS update.

Samsung will be releasing Android 9 Pie update to W2019 flagship clamshell phone in August. In September, the latest Android version will be coming to Samsung Phoenix aka Galaxy A6s (SM-G6200), Galaxy S (SM-G8750), Galaxy Tab S3 tablet (SM-T820 / T825C) and W2018 clamshell phone (SM-W2018) will be upgraded to Android 9 Pie update. The Galaxy J8 (SM-J3300 / J3308) and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab A 2018 tablet (SM-T590 / T595C) are scheduled to receive Android 9 Pie upgrade in October.

Samsung users will be receiving One UI along with Android 9 Pie OS update. Even though the South Korean company has released the aforementioned, the arrival of the update for some devices may vary if it is not ready for release.

Through the Samsung Members app, the South Korean company has released the Android Pie update roadmap to reveal when it will be treating 11 of its devices with the latest version of Android.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are scheduled to receive Android 9 Pie update in January 2019. As mentioned above, Samsung has already begun rolling out the Pie update for Galaxy S9 duo. By January, the carrier variants of the S9 and S9+ may receive the latest Android software. In February, the Galaxy Note 9 will be provided with Android 9 Pie update.

The Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 will be provided with Android 9 Pie update in March. Multiple device such as Galaxy A8 (2018), Galaxy A8+ (2018), Galaxy A7 (2018), Galaxy A9 (2018) and Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 are all planned to receive Android 9 Pie update in April.

In May 2019, Galaxy J series of smartphones such as Galaxy J4, Galaxy J4+, Galaxy J6, Galaxy J6+ as well as Galaxy A8 Star are scheduled to receive Pie update. In July, the older Galaxy J7 (2017) will be provided with Android 9 Pie. The Galaxy J7 Duo will be blessed with the latest Android version in August.

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) and Galaxy Tab S3 9.7 will be updated to Android 9 Pie in September. In October, three tablets such as Galaxy Tab A (2017), Galaxy Tab Active 2 and Galaxy Tab A 10.4 are going to receive the update.

Samsung devices that have already received two major Android upgrades like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are not included in the list. Users of the Samsung smartphones and tablets should be aware of the fact that even though the company has released the Android 9 pie update roadmap, the dates may change if the update are not completely ready for release.

Recently, we reported that Samsung is all set to launch a new color variant in the Indian market for the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone. While we were expecting it to be the First Snow White color variant, the company has launched a new color variant.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 gets the Limited Edition Alpine White color variant while the Galaxy S9 Plus will now also be available in a new Dual Tone Polaris Blue color variant. With this launch, the smartphone buyers in India will now choose from five color options for the Galaxy Note 9 – Alpine White, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Metallic Copper, and Lavender Purple, while Galaxy S9 Plus buyers can choose from six color variants – Polaris Blue, Burgundy Red, Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple, and the Sunrise Gold.

The Alpine White variant for the Galaxy Note 9 is priced at Rs. 67,900 for the 128GB storage variant while the Polaris Blue color option for the Galaxy S9 Plus costs Rs. 64,900. Both the models can be pre-ordered at select platforms alongside Samsung Online Shop starting December 7, 2018.

As for the specifications, the Galaxy Note 9 features 6.4-inch QHD+ S-AMOLED screen with Infinity Display design and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor in some markets while in other markets, it is powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 chipset.

It packs 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 512GB of internal storage. There are 12-megapixel snappers on the back and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for taking selfies and video calling. It runs Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with Samsung UX on top and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support.

At its developer conference, along with showcasing its foldable display device, Samsung also unveiled ‘One UI’ — it’s new design language for the custom user interface skip for Samsung’s devices.

During the announcement of One UI, the company also revealed that it will begin beta testing of Android Pie-based One UI for select devices later this month in US, Korea, and Germany. It should roll out to other European and Asian countries at some later point.

The devices that will receive the update includes Galaxy S9, S9, and Note 9. While open beta will be available from this month, the public release of the One UI for the mentioned device will take place in January 2019.

Comparing to the Samsung Experience UX which requires two hands to operate, the new One UI is claimed to have been built for a “more natural and comfortable” one-handed use cases. Samsung said that it has been working on the new experience for the past year, and the prime target is to make the interface less cluttered.

The focus of Samsung One UI is on keeping the most relevant content in the most useful place — bottom of the screen. All of Samsung’s apps have adopted a bottom bar layout for smaller navigation elements alongside larger header elements. Menus also pop-up at the bottom of the screen instead of the center.

During the SDC 2018 Keynote, Jee Won Lee, Senior Designer of UX Design at Samsung, said:

With One UI, now you see only the essential features related to the task you are carrying out. It’s a continuous and fluid experience where the necessary buttons appear when you need them and gently disappear when you don’t.

The South Korean company has also introduced a system-wide Night Mode that enables a dark, AMOLED-friendly theme throughout the UI and Samsung’s apps. The new Samsung One UI will also theme itself to match the color of the phone, similar to what Samsung offered on Galaxy Note 9 with its new S-Pen.

Evan Blass, a trusted leakster has shared a render of the upcoming all-new Pure White color variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. While he is usually accurate when it comes to his leaks, this time he mentions that he is not completely sure about the render’s legitimacy.

If the Pure White Galaxy Note 9 really becomes a reality, it’ll be the first Galaxy Note-series smartphone to be offered in White color after the Galaxy Note 5 which was launched in 2015. Later, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were also launched in White colors.

Currently, not much is known about the Pure White color variant for the Galaxy Note 9. So, we are not sure if it’ll be available globally or will be introduced in select markets only, if it ever gets announced. So far, the Cloud Silver color variant is limited to the US market only.

As it turns out, along with the US, the Silver color option for the Galaxy Note 9 will be available in over 30 countries.

A new report reveals that the phone will be available in Austria, Baltic, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), Peru, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, and the United States.

Overall, Silver will be the fifth color option for the Galaxy Note 9 after Metallic Copper, Lavender Purple, Ocean Blue, and Midnight Black. It is powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 processor. In some regions, the handset comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone comes in two variants — one packing 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and another with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

Samsung announced its flagship Galaxy Note 9 in China on August 15. Soon after, the Note 9 went up for pre-order on JD.com. Unlike other Chinese companies who allow free reservations on the site for sale, you had to pay 99 Yuan (~$14) in order to pre-order the device. Turns out, not many are willing to shell out the pre-order deposit for the new Note 9 on JingDong.

There are currently four variants of the Galaxy Note 9 on JD.com available for pre-order: 6+128GB storage option in three colors (Black, Blue, Copper) and 8+512GB option in one color (black). So far, the listing has received less than 1300 pre-orders for the device on the site. Considering the usual demand for a flagship like the Note series, this is definitely a lukewarm response from Chinese customers. The Frost Blue color seems to be the most pre-ordered variant on the site with over 500 registrations.

Samsung has been struggling in China in the past few years and this is yet another example of the company’s flagships failing to garner enough attention from customers in China. The Galaxy Note 9 is one of the most powerful handsets of 2018, however, apart from its innovative S Pen, the phone doesn’t have much to distinguish itself from the competition. Even Samsung’s variable aperture tech is coming on the upcoming OPPO R17 Pro flagship which is going to be much cheaper at launch.

Considering the hefty 6999 Yuan price tag for the Note 9, customers can go for a cheaper yet powerful option like the innovative full screen OPPO Find X (starts at 4999 Yuan ~$756) or the Huawei P20 Pro with triple cameras (starts at 4999 Yuan ~$756). Unless Samsung decides to slash down its price to somewhere near to its Chinese competitors, it will be tough for the Note 9 to do well in the highly competitive Chinese market.

In Taiwan, the Galaxy Note 9 is now available for pre-order until August 20 and will start shipping from 24th August. While the 6GB RAM model costs NT$30,900 ($1,001), the 8GB RAM variant is priced at NT$38,900 ($1,265).

The 6GB RAM model will be available in three color options — Ocean Blue, Lavender Purple, and Metallic Purple. However, the 8GB RAM variant will come in only one color — Blue. The company has also announced a Black Desert Mobile Limited Edition that costs NT$31,400.

After months of leak, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone. The hands-on images of the phablet have revealed that the Note 9 sports a very similar design like the Galaxy Note 8. The only noticeable design changes that have arrive on Note 9 are repositioned fingerprint scanner and reduced side bezels. The S Pen and the innards of the phone are praiseworthy. However, when it comes to appearance, it seems more like an upgrade rather than a successor model. In the below tweet, the Huawei P10 Plus with dual cameras can be seen on the left and on its right is the Huawei P20 Pro with its triple lens camera. Huawei calls the P20 Pro as a real generation upgrade because of the new features such as triple camera system with 40-megapixel lens and 5x optical zoom. The tweet seems to be poking fun at Samsung because the Galaxy Note 9 and Note 8 not only resemble each other but also, they also feature dual rear cameras. The tweet ends with the text, “image what will come next…” which is clear indication that the successor of Mate 10 series will also be real generation upgrade.

Huawei has already started teasing on the features of the upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. Earlier this week, the Chinese manufacturer had teased that the Mate 20 will be arriving with a larger than P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro. Hence, it is speculated that Mate 20 duo may feature 4,200mAh battery.

The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are equipped with dual rear cameras. It is speculated that the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both arrive with triple cameras. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is now official as the successor of the Galaxy Note 8. The Note 9 largely resembles its predecessor in terms and as numerous leaks had revealed before is launch, the only major change in its appearance is the re-positioned fingerprint scanner. Here are some of the hands-on images of the Galaxy Note 9 to find what improvements has Samsung brought on it this year.

Design and Display

The Galaxy Note 9 may look like the Note 8, but there are few design changes that have been introduced on it. The engineers at Samsung have reduced the bezels even more and cut down the thickness of the metallic frame of the Galaxy Note 9. Ocean Blue, Lavender Purple, Midnight Black and Metallic Copper are the color variants of the smartphone. Among these, only the Note 9 features a yellow colored S Pen. The other hues of the smartphones come with same colored stylus.

The Galaxy Note 8 measured 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and weighed 195 grams. The dimensions of the Galaxy Note 9 are 161.9 x 76.8 x 8.8 and it weighs 201 grams. Compared to the predecessor, the Note 9 is slightly wider and heavier probably because a larger battery of 4,000mAh capacity. The Note 8 included a 3,300mAh battery.

Moving to the backside of the phablet, its fingerprint scanner is now separated from the dual camera which reduces the risk of touch camera lenses while unlocking it. The rest of the rear panel appears simple. The glass back of the phone easily attracts finger marks.

The bottom edge of the Galaxy Note 9 is quite crowded as it features S Pen slot, external speaker, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack. Even though there are many openings on the Note 9, it is an IP68 rated waterproof and dustproof device. The overall appearance of the smartphone is sleek.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display that is curved towards its left and right edges. The elongated 18.5:9 Infinity Display is one of the attractive features of the Note 9. The QHD+ resolution screen produces vibrant colors and offers good viewing experience.

Hardware

The Galaxy Note 9 is packed with improved internals. Depending on the market, the Note 9 is powered either by Exynos 9810 or Snapdragon 845. The base model features 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM and the highest configuration variant include 512 GB storage + 8 GB RAM. Samsung has also installed a huge water-cooling system inside the Note 9 to keep the internal temperature under control.

The 4,000mAh battery of the smartphone carries support for Quick Charge 2.0. The Galaxy Note 9 users can take advantage of desktop PC experience by using a small dongle that connects to HDMI. can It no longer needs a DeX dock to work.

The OIS enabled dual 12-megapixel rear camera with variable aperture that is available on the Galaxy S9+ has been added on to the Galaxy Note 9. It features a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. The camera samples of the Note 9 will soon surface to reveal how good is it photography prowess compared to its rivals.

The Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enabled S Pen that makes it possible to use it from up to 30 feet away is one of the USPs of the Galaxy Note 9. The S Pen button works like a remote control key which can be used for clicking next or previous during a presentation, browse albums on the music player, play or pause during a video and so on. Instead of a battery, the S Pen includes a supercapacitor which can be charged. By charging it for 40 second, it can deliver a battery life of 40 minutes.

The video introduces the Galaxy Note 9, highlighting the major features of the phablet, especially the redesigned S-pen. The video has since been taken down but thankfully, it is still online in case you care for an early preview. It also affords us the opportunity to see the device is real life images with the model having a Coral Blue color. The S Pen appears in yellow and is promoted as coming with Bluetooth connectivity and additional features.

One other thing, the Galaxy Note 9 promotional video also hints at a massive storage especially the expandable capability. In essence, it suggests the storage can be expanded via microSD slot up to 1 terabyte. This may actually play out with the device having a 512GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 500GB using the microSD slot. Another point in the teaser is the prolonged battery life which the device promises to offer with the screamer “all day battery life”. Don’t expect more than the bumped up 4000mAh battery the device has been confirmed to feature. The video also confirms the rear dual camera arrangement that was leaked earlier on. It featured a non-functional pre-order button and a rear image of the Note 9. The webpage has been taken down, but the render of the smartphone has been captured since it was available for some time.

The rear view of the smartphone shows that its design is not very different from the predecessor model. On the Galaxy Note 8, the dual camera and fingerprint scanner were placed on the same line like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. To prevent users from smearing the dual cameras while accessing the fingerprint scanner, Samsung has repositioned the latter by placing it below the camera module. That’s only major change that can be seen on the entire design of the phone.

The bottom edge of the Galaxy Note 9 features a compartment for S Pen, an external speaker, USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Even though it is a blue variant of the smartphone, it features a distinctive yellow colored S Pen. Recent reports have revealed that it is the only variant that will be arriving with a different colored stylus. It was revealed in the previous month through a firmware leak that S Pen exists in colors like black, gray, violet/purple, blue and brown which suggested that Note 9 may also arrive in same color variants.

Through the above render, Samsung claims that the Galaxy Note 9 is the most powerful smartphone eve from the company. The handset is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 845 / Exynos 9810 SoC. We are exactly a week away from the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 Unpacked event. In the past few weeks, there have been a bunch of new leaks with some even including pricing details. Samsung itself has also released a slate of commercials teasing features of the phone. Now a new leak has surfaced and it has to do with the pricing in Malaysia.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will launch in New York and availability will follow in the following weeks across the globe. In Malaysia, the phone will be sold by Lazada and pricing for the 128GB and 512GB variants have leaked.

The 128GB version of the Galaxy Note 9 will sell for RM4,299 (~$1055) while the 512GB model will sell for RM5,099 (~$1252). Lazada will provide an option for buyers to pay in installments. These prices are slightly higher than those of Indonesia which leaked earlier this week but not far off.

August

The Meizu 16 series that includes Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones are expected to go official on Aug. 8. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is slated to go official on Aug. 9. The Smartisan Pro 3 and OPPO R17 are rumored to go official later in this month. The 360 N7 Pro is likely to get announced later in August or September.

September

The LG V40 ThinQ is expected to get unleashed in September. A recent report has revealed that after its unveiling in September, the company release it in the market in early October.

The 2018 iPhones will be also arriving in September. Recent reports have suggested that the two upcoming OLED iPhones may debut as iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus. The company is also expected to announce LCD iPhone in September. However, a recent report has claimed that since the Cupertino company has encountered production issues with the LCD iPhone, it may hit the market by October or early November.

Last year, Xiaomi had launched the Mi MIX 2 on Sept. 11 and on the very next Apple had announced the iPhone X as its first OLED iPhone. Hence, the Mi MIX 3 is pegged to arrive in September this year. However, the leakster has claimed that there is a possibility that the smartphone may get announced in October. A recent report has revealed that it may arrive with improved design.

October

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones are speculated to go official either in September or October. Since the predecessor Google Pixel phones were unveiled in October, it is likely that this year also the company may follow the same launch pattern. The Nubia Z19 and Huawei Mate 20 series that includes Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are poised to get unveiled by mid-October.

November

By mid-November, OnePlus may announce the OnePlus 6T smartphone. Honor may rival it by launching the Honor V11 smartphone around the same time.

December

360 Mobiles may announce the 360 N8 flagship by mid-December. Honor may introduce the Honor Magic 2 as the successor for Honor Magic that was announced in December 2016. Vivo X22 or Xplay7 is also likely to debut by the end of this year. Could this be the first ever 10 GB RAM phone that is rumored to go official this year?

The leakster has further claimed Apple 12 that powers the forthcoming 2018 iPhones is a 7nm SoC. The 7nm Kirin 980 SoC is expected to fuel Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Honor V11 and Honor Magic 2 smartphones. Rest of the phones are speculated to feature the 10nm Snapdragon 845 SoC. However, it seems unlikely that the OPPO R17 and Vivo X22 will arrive with SD845 SoC.

Some of the other flagship phones that are not mentioned in the above list include  Nokia 9 or Nokia A1 Plus, Razer Phone 2, Sony Xperia XZ3, Xperia XZ3 Compact and XZ3 Premium. The Moto Z3 is expected to official tomorrow.

The latest leak has revealed the pricing of 128 GB and 512 GB storage editions of the Note 9 for the Indonesian market. The official names of the different color variants of the smartphone for the same region have also surfaced in this leak.

As it can be seen in the leaked promotional posters, the 128 GB and 512 GB storage versions of the Galaxy Note 9 are respectively priced at 13,500,000 Indonesian rupiah (~$937) and 17,500,000 Indonesian rupiah (~$1,215). There is no information available on whether the Indonesian market will be receiving the 64 GB model.

It seems that Indonesia will be receiving the Galaxy Note 9 in three color options in Indonesia such as Mystic Black, Engineered Blue and Artisan Copper. Through the promotional posters it has been also revealed that customers who pre-order the Note 9 will be receiving free Samsung TV. In other countries too, the South Korean company will offer some exciting pre-order gifts for the buyers of Note 9.

The rear design almost looks similar to the Note 8 except that the position of the fingerprint reader is different. In this case, the fingerprint scanner sits in an awkward position under the rear camera sensors and not beside it. The rear camera setup is a dual setup with the main sensor looking obviously bigger.

In addition, there is the presence of capacitive buttons for volume controls and power on the left side while the Bixby button is located on the left side of the display. So we can’t be very certain that this is indeed the final design of the Galaxy Note 9 or not. In any case, the device will be official unveiled in just a little over a week.

The above video only lasts for 10 seconds, but it manages to reveal that the Galaxy Tab S4 will be arriving in Black and Gray color variants. The tablet seems to be sporting 16:10 aspect ratio display.

The Galaxy Tab S4 does not feature a fingerprint scanner. The leaked firmware files of the Tab S4 has revealed that it will be equipped with iris scanner and Intelligent Scan feature which can be found on flagship phones like Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 8 phones. Intelligent Scan is a feature that combines iris scanner and facial recognition.

Plenty of information on the specifications of the Galaxy Tab S4 have surfaced in the recent weeks. The tablet is expected to house a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display that will carry support for Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

The Snapdragon 835 SoC will be powering the tablet along with 4 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 64 GB and it is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The tablet draws power from a massive 7,300mAh battery. It has a rear camera of 13-megapixel and a frontal shooter of 8-megapixel. The device will be also carrying support for DeX.

According to Techno Buffalo, its sources have revealed that Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event that will be held in New York at Aug. 9 will be used to announced Galaxy Note 9 as well as Galaxy Tab S4. The launch invitation of the Note 9 had featured an S Pen stylus. Since the Note 9 and Tab S4 are equipped with S Pen, it is likely that both devices may get announced at the same event.

Apparently, you wouldn’t have to experience this “traumatic” experience with the Galaxy Note 9. It has been revealed that Samsung’s next flagship will come with a 4,000mAh battery. When it launches on August 9, which the video confirms, the Galaxy Note 9 will be the Note device with the biggest battery.

Apparently, the company is considering to ditch the Galaxy Note-series and make the Galaxy S-series as the top-end version. So, there’s a possibility that instead of the Galaxy Note 10 next year, we may be presented with a Galaxy S10+ with S Pen Stylus support.

This could also save millions of dollars for the company in the development, production, and marketing. Currently, there are reports making rounds suggesting the upcoming Galaxy S10 series will consist of three smartphones, which could be because of the merging of Note into the S-series. However, there could also be just an additional anniversary edition in the S10 lineup.

As for the Galaxy Note 9, the South Korean giant is all set to unveil its next flagship smartphone in New York on 9th August. The smartphone will be coming with 6.3-inch S-AMOLED Infinity Display and will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, China, Hong Kong and Japan while the rest of the world will get Exynos 9810 processor.

The smartphone packs 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will feature dual rear cameras with variable aperture and will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery. There is a possibility that there will be an advanced model featuring 8GB RAM and 256GB/512GB internal storage.

According to the reports, Samsung plans to produce 7.5 million units of the Note 9. It will produce around 2.5 million units per month for the first three months from July to September. From October to December, the company plans to ship about 4.5 million units (about 1.5 million units per month). The report adds that the shipment plans for October to December may vary depending on initial sales volume.

Samsung has been selling it smartwatches under Gear branding since the past few years. Fresh information shared by a South Korean publication reveals that the upcoming Gear S4 will be rebranded as Galaxy Watch. The report has also revealed that Samsung will be launching it alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on Aug. 9 in New York, US.

Samsung has used Mobile World Congress (MWC) and IFA tech expo events to announce previous Gear smartwatches and fitness trackers. However, it will be for the first time that the South Korean will be launching it through a dedicated event in New York, USA.

Earlier in this month, a tipster from China had claimed that the Gear S4 will coming as Galaxy Watch would be running on Android Wear OS. However, fresh report that has appeared on ZDNet Korea reveals that even though it will be renamed as Galaxy Watch, it will continue to run on Tizen OS.

The South Korean company had launched the first-generation Gear smartwatch with Android Wear OS. However, the firm switch to the home-brewed Tizen OS with Gear S2 in 2014. Coming back to the rebranded Galaxy Watch, it is speculated to run on the latest Tizen 4.0. The new OS is expected to arrive with Bixby assistant preinstalled. The voice control APIs that are expected to be available on the Tizen OS 4.0 will allow it to rival with Apple Watch that ships with Siri and Android Wear smartwatches that feature Google Assistant. Since Tizen OS is now applied to home appliances and wearable devices, it works fine with other devices, claimed an industry expert.

The Galaxy Watch is also rumored to arrive with new fitness-centric features and it will also give access to new healthcare apps. The report also claims that the Galaxy Watch would be available in two sizes.

Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch has also appeared at Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Through the FCC documents it has been known that the FCC label that is placed on the backside of the device has the “Samsung Galaxy Watch” moniker which confirms that it will indeed arrive with a new name.

The FCC documents have revealed that the SM-R815U model will be heading to the U.S while the SM-R815W will be releasing in Canada. In the U.S., the smartwatch will be supporting LTE connectivity through AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. The smartwatch is expected to arrive in carrier and unlocked versions. Also, there could be a Wi-Fi only edition of the Galaxy Watch. The Through FCC documents, it has been known that it will be featuring an approximate screen size of 1.2 inches and it will be measuring 51.2 x 43.4mm. Also, it will be supporting Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

There is no information available on the pricing of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch. After its launch with Galaxy Note 9 and other rumored tablets on Aug. 9, the smartwatch is likely to be available for pre-orders starting from Aug. 14 and its shipments may begin from Aug. 24.

A new render of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been leaked online. Posted on Twitter by Evan Blass, the photo shows the rear and front of the device as well as the new S Pen.

One of the biggest changes coming to the Galaxy Note series is the stylus officially referred to as the S Pen. Not only is the one in the image having a different color from the phone itself, it will also have Bluetooth LE and a bunch of new features. The S Pen is also reported to charge within the phone itself.

In terms of design, not much seems to have changed from last year’s Galaxy Note8 but that isn’t to say there are no differences. The first major difference is the position of the fingerprint scanner which is now right under the cameras instead of to the right. This makes it easier to reach.

The dual cameras are also of different sizes. As shown in the image, the sensor on the right is significantly bigger than the one on the left. To the right of the camera sensors is a LED flash and blood pressure sensor.

In the previous week, a Polish site had revealed the pricing and release date of Galaxy Note 9 for Poland. Fresh information coming from the home market of Samsung has revealed that the pre-orders of the smartphone will begin one week after its launch

Samsung has already confirmed that it will be announcing the Galaxy Note 9 phablet on Aug. 9. It is launching the smartphone earlier this yea as the predecessor Galaxy Note 8 was made official on Aug. 23. After announcing the Note 8 on the said date in August, it was made available for buying from Sept. 15.

In Poland, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be available on pre-orders on Aug 9, the day when it gets unveiled. Recent reports have revealed that the shipments of the pre-ordered units will begin on Aug. 24. However, today’s report claims that pre-orders of the Note 9 will begin by mid-August in the home market. Since Galaxy Note 8 was mad available in 42 markets on the day it was released, it is likely that the Note 9 would be also hitting multiple markets on its release date.

Design-wise, the Galaxy Note 9 will be sporting an appearance that is very similar to its predecessor. The only major design change expected on the Note 9 is the rearranged fingerprint scanner which now sits below the dual camera sensors on the back panel.

It is speculated that Galaxy Note 9’s Snapdragon 845 edition could be coming to markets like the U.S., Canada, Latin America, China, Hong Kong and Japan. The rest of the world including the entire Europe may receive the Exynos 9810 edition of the Note 9.
